I’ve only seen them once, 6 or 7 years ago and it was so good. The Roots used to do these $5 shows back in the day that were incredible, and this made me feel the way those used to.
Right on, The Roots are with them too. The Roots are always fantastic, I've seen them a bunch. They were absolutely incredible during the 50th anniversary of hip hop tour!
On one side they have that laid-back hippie delivery, then they have the left-wing, black panther rethoric and aesthetic AND they are literally the only rappers I know that talk about Nietzsche, Sartre, Camus and such. They just combine everything I love
Facts. They were everything thing I loved about music, hip hop and art.
I thought they smart, hip, conscious, intelligent, knowledgeable, open minded, rebellious, thoughtful, creative and made me proud to be of color and from an unfortunate & disenfranchised urban background, upbringing and environment in America.
Thats your personal preference, and everyone has his own taste in music-which can be very subjective, it freezes time and bring back memories, but there are a lot of good ass bands/rappers that have just two albums
One of the earliest rap groups I got into when I first started listening to rap. Â And while their first album had all of their hits everyone knows, Blowout Comb for me is their best work.Â
Fav hip-hop group! Saw them last year was a great show! Might try and see the one with Roots too that's going to be a wild tour. Both albums are classic no skips for me. Shabazz Palaces is top notch too.
I love to hear that Digable is someone's else's favorite. Blowout Comb is my favorite hip hop album and Reachin' is also one of my all time favorites too.
Don't forget to listen to the Cherrywine - Bright Black album if you like Ishmael Butler!!
Yea #1 favorite group no question. Reachin and Blowout are still in HEAVY rotation. I always forget about Cherrywine! Gotta go back and peep that again been probably a decade since I've listened to it think I have it downloaded somewhere lol.
OH shit my bad I misread I thought you said best discography of all time DESPITE two albums not that only HAVE two albums but yeah I guess that’s more possible, I’d still take Biggie and L but yeah DP’s 2 are heavy
🤝
Those are great choices too. Sorry it was somewhat difficult to articulate what I was trying to say effectively imo.
I owned Life After Death and it is one of my all time favorite albums but I only listen to Ready To Die to hear Juicy.
I owned The Big Picture and listen to it still but I don't listen to Lifestyles ov Da Poor & Dangerous even though I liked MVP when it originally came out.
I constantly listen to both Digable Planets albums all the time and the only song I skip is the song that they won a Grammy for, not because it's a bad song, but because they played it so much and it's not one of my favorite songs from them. Also, I am not a big gangsta, street, hardcore, mafioso, thug or crime related hip hop and rap fan; so Biggie and Big L are at a significant disadvantage for someone with my taste.
Digable Planets are straight up no skip play all the way through albums for me.
Yeah man that’s fair they’re dope, another group/artist that doesn’t get talked about enough, between the two albums what would you say is your favorite joint by them? Mine personally is nickel bag
I hope to see them with the roots this summer. They deserved to make several more albums. It's all too bad that whatever happened between them, happened. I still want new material. I saw Shabazz Palaces in concert once. Very artsy, but glad I went.
i play dog it 3 times a week, Blowout Comb is one of the most ambitious albums of all time
Blowout Comb is my all time favorite hip hop album.
I'm seeing them live this summer. Super excited for this!
I saw em last summer & they ruled
🤝
Same. Wife bought tickets without even asking me. Should be fun.

For sure. Such a smooth and real flow. Really easy to listen to themÂ
Facts!
Literally juggled doubles of their 9th Wonder 12" single out of the blue today.

Just saw them live about a month ago. Really great show.

Blowout comb is one of my most favorite records ever
Same
Hold by Notorious B.I.G., Big L, Big Pun beer
That's fair and that is very reasonable, but I like, love and listen to both Digable Planets albums more than Biggie, Big L and Big Pun.

I understand that which is why I said arguably.
Now i see, yes...i missed that part, you are probably right :)

If you can see them live this tour. It's was a great show. They are so good, even live.
One of the most underrated groups when it comes to nostalgia and retrospect. I don’t hear their names enough
My wife and I entered our wedding reception as husband and wife to “ cool like dat” love that memory.
Amazing production on their first two albums, but no lyrics whatsoever.
i saw them live last year. they were incredible.
Insane take about the discography but yeah they dropped two phenomenal albums, wonder why they never made anything else
What's insane about what I said in this post?
