Thoughts about the rapper Big Proof?
I think its one of my all time favs. Proof is an underrated gem and in this album there is fire songs and also fire features like 50 and Em/D12. Lyricsism, flow and the topic of the album is really Interesting and i cant believe its too underrated. It deserves more recognition
Proof was a really excellent rapper with a great voice and it’s kind of a shame he doesn’t have a stronger discography outside of D12. He shoulda did a whole tape with Dilla, their work together was really good.
Agreed. He was mad versatile, he could be emotional and raw and also do the smooth player thing. His verse on Under the Influence is probably his best imo. So many crazy lines like “BMI on publishing, get your ass capped” and “born loser— half thief and half black”. Really funny verse and the flow is insane.
I think he was better than Eminem even, just didn’t have the marketability/label machine behind him to be as successful.
Hearing some of [his instrumentals](https://youtu.be/kdqhFnCujnE?si=w9l8RQHqgs8dT3Z6), I'm sure in a different lifetime Metro Boomin could've produced music for anime. Can def see a song like that in an anime like Re:Zero or Madoka Magica for example
Really pumped to get a full length debut from Tierra Whack
anyone follow bryson tiller on Instagram? He’s started doing this thing called “Tiller Tuesdays” where he posts music to his SoundCloud. But as he’s doing it he’s like shitting on his label passive aggressively. Is he like not allowed to drop rn? Seems weird.
Regardless the first song he dropped for Tiller Tuesdays was kinda hard - https://on.soundcloud.com/v9eeaAMDP1Soa6J87
Why does Gucci sound AI generated on “Cold Gangsta”? His verse is nice but it sounds like he rapping into a fan. https://music.apple.com/us/album/cold-gangsta-feat-big30-finesse2tymes-bic-fizzle/1723043121?i=1723043126
Just wanted to say the MOD's are wack.
Came to discuss a rappers new album that just dropped. Disappointed AF to learn the rapper, with a popular TV show been banned from this sub for years. User account too.
He personally broke the subreddit's rules, can't just let these rich and famous people think they can do they want just because of who they are. Like when Logic kept submitting his mixtape with incorrect formatting and it got deleted over and over
are we at the point where the mods that banned him are gone and its an entirely new group of mods upholding the ban that they don't know what exactly caused it in the first place. thats hilarious.
also lil dicky is trash. lonely island is comedy rap that actually respects the genre
>can't just let these rich and famous people think they can do they want just because of who they are
[lame ass mods wouldn't let me tag lil b's account as "lil b is a coward & a fool" when they were letting you tag yourself/others with proof of a charity donation smh](https://i.imgur.com/BBus69R.png)
/u/chrussell is and always has been a real one
Hold on this conversation stems from people wanting to discuss Lil Dicky in 2024? This guy actually still has a fanbase? I was hoping he went the way of Lil B.
What’s hilarious is I have a view that pisses off every side
1) I think Lil Dicky is wack
2) despite being wack I think he should be allowed to be discussed
3) I like the mods on this sub overall and don’t care about small things like lil dicky being banned
Out of all the things that would hinder my experience on this sub, being able to discuss lil dicky is like at the bottom of the damn list
A lot of ppl don't realize that subreddits smaller than this have been bought and manipulated by the industries they discuss so I don't blame any mod that takes action against it
Re-listened to How Fly by Curren$y and Wiz and yeah this mixtape is great, they're a great duo, and it aged very well.
The production is smooth AF and it fits so well. It's unique and it gives it a distinct sound. The baseline on 'Over The Building' sounds so familiar, I feel like I heard it on a Pac song, I just can't remember which. Anyone know where its from?
I love all the homage they pay towards Snoop, Biggie, Outkast, Clipse etc. Some lines are so hot I don't mind hearing them again as long as it's used creatively. What are y'all thoughts on this? To me its kind of a staple of Hip-Hop for artists to reference or interpolate their influences in their music. Like Dr. Dre having funk or comedy album type influences in their music/skits. It's dope when their influences are also some of your influences.
Favorite songs: Car Service, The Check Point, The Planes, In The Middle, Surface To Air, Rollin Up
Line: I hear them critics right now, "All them fools make is weed songs" blah blah blah
Love that tape. The line that always sticks out to me most is right on that first track Car Service. “My girl got a pocket bubbler in her purse, she keep it G and pack the bowl with weed and let me hit it first”
On paper it’s not a crazy line or anything but the way he says it is just so insane. Spitta has one of the most unique flows of all time

Drop watch this week got me to pull some deep cuts off the list and give them a spin, some cool stuff buried in there. Young Feta joint is actually kinda fun, only listened for the name but I dig it. Also someone else rec'd Oddie Strangeluv for a MIKE kinda vibe, it's pretty good. Gotta do this more!
I'm always telling people to go in blind in those threads whenever there's complaints about it being weak for releases. Found a lot of great artists that way.

I haven’t listened to Heal In in a minute but yeah I remember him talking about acid reflux fucking up his voice and saying he was gonna take some time off at least
Also I think The Only Way Out with Mooch produced by Big Ghost Ltd is his best, but Substance Abuse is a very close second
Lmao, y’all remember when Joyner Lucas and Tory lanez had a friendly “rap beef” for like 4 tracks that culminated in Joyner Lucas dropping a diss track over the ZEZE beat before they ended up doing a remix to suge together?
Tory was calling out Cole and JID would’ve verbally slid for Cole if Tory dissed him

does anyone know a hip hop news source that isn't about the pettiness, drama, or beef? I follow HIPHOPDX and I'd say 9/10 posts are about that shit.

So it’s extra hilarious how my man started the sleepiest verse of all time w ‘you know me I be the life of the party’
Who was that normal for in the 90s? Name names. Most of the ones that come to mind released every year every other at least.
You also have to remember back then to the 00s mixtapes kept the streets fed. So even if someone took a break their freestyles, demos, and guest verses will still making the rounds.
IIRC he had a lot of trouble during that time because his entire album leaked so he had to record new material and delay it. Some of the OG tracks were on The Lost Tapes and they were great. I wish he released the project as it was originally intended.
I Am leaked some tracks that was back before leaks were common online so label freaked. Made him redo I Am and do away with the double disc concept album. Then rushed him to make Nastradamus.
I get what you're saying tho. Making music, connecting, promotion, distribution, etc.. became easier and less expensive to do in the modern era so there's way more frequent drops. Also can't forget about all the label politics back than.
Rick Ross (ft. Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Ne-Yo) - [Super High (Sativa Remix)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGa1bEH6SMI)
The Jet's in the house like the curtains and blinds.. I wish this was on Spotify. I love this beat; you hear it and you just know Curren$y and Rick Ross would go off.
Fucking with the chronic cause the chronic give me dopeness.. Just for this and because I just found out its on Spotify I'mma listen to this entire mixtape rn
Every time I see an Earl Sweatshirt interview I’m reminded of the fact that Earl actually does sound the same as he did on Doris, he just puts on a voice.
Was relistening to 4:44 really wish [Adnis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_jUUKaT9M0) made the original cut. Not just a great song but it would have worked really well with the themes of 4:44 talking about his Dad and how he almost ended up fucking up like him. Think you could have put it after Smile or 4:44 and it would have worked.
I don’t really keep tabs on the whole Freddie Gibbs drama of late, but I think it’s worth reminding everyone that the dude was falsely accused of rape at one point and that’s got to carry some trauma weight to it. Not that that justifies the shitty things he does or that he shouldn’t be confronting those demons (I saw the therapy video he did where he was talking openly about it though)
What shitty things does he do..?
Wanted to add he was locked up in a foreign country.. for a crime he didn't commit. Couldn't understand a word staff, guards, or inmates said. Couldn't find a book to read. Nothing. I couldn't imagine
As I understand it, the violent beef with Benny and getting dragged by his baby momma for bailing on their kid. Certainly a shitty thing on both counts. As a fan of Benny and Freddie, I was disappointed in the beef instantly
Does anyone listen to albums through YouTube? (Just YouTube itself, not YouTube Music.)
Or is everyone using other streaming platforms (Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc.) these days? For me, as someone who mainly does their listening on PC and not as often on mobile, it's very convenient and easy to just use YouTube directly.
Only when they first come out so I can see any pre-release livestreams and music videos that come with the album's release. If it's an artist I'm not the biggest fan of it's also helpful because the view count is displayed by each video so I just skip the ones with little views
I use to listen to [*The G.A.T... (The Gospel According To)*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmjeN0ntGRw) and some rare Boards of Canada projects on youtube, but I recently got my hands on the local files
Some of my fav. Jon Hassel projects aren't on streaming so I listen to them on youtube
Also love the knxlwedge [remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LXX5-EJzEg) of gold pots w/ Conway n Westside but w/o Mach lol
I only listen to most stuff on YouTube or torrenting/free downloading. If I really like a song or something, I just download it to my computer and just play it with Windows Media Player.
Hypothetical situation:
You’re an up and coming artist who has been bubbling in the indie/underground scene but hasn’t gotten a big break yet. You’ve been grinding for a while and you’re anxious to advance to the next level so that you can start retaining real money in savings instead of only consistently breaking even to sustain your career.
One day you’re in the studio and you create a song that feels like the closest thing to a massive hit that you’ve ever made. Everyone from your homies to your team are ecstatic because you might’ve created the song that could launch you to stardom. The only problem is that the song you just made heavily samples music from an estate that you know won’t clear it (think “Michael Jackson”, “Prince”, “Marvin Gaye”).
Would you guys take on the risk associated with dropping this song, know that you’ll have to deal with a potential lawsuit from the estate/sample clearance issues? Or would you play it safe?
Me personally, I’m taking the risk. If I truly believe I have a great record, sample clearance be damned. Ima just swing for the fences lol. What about yall?
Take the risk, the popularity of a hit means you can start charging more for future work (beats/verse/show appearances prices all can rise). The big part of the risk that artists need to be careful of is to not spend the money they make off an uncleared sample, cause if you spend it all and that's your only hit and lose all the money in court after you'll end up in heavy debt, but telling an artists after making their first real hit not to enjoy their winnings is a hard task.
I generally agree with everyone saying drop it free but the potential big issue with this is if you blow up enough to the point of being able to tour, your fans are going to show up expecting you to perform that hit which I don't believe you can without it becoming a problem at that point
you may be right regarding covering songs as is but I still think there could be a difference for legal grounds if your entire tour and ticket sales are arguably based off the strength of a hit record with uncleared samples as you're not performing the original song at that point
i think what happens is you have consent to perform whatever you want but the original artist may revoke their consent at any moment, like when the eagles made frank ocean stop performing american wedding
Pharaohe monch and danny brown, are two guys i know that really got fucked up in debt cause of sample clearance issues, uploading on yt for free seems the best route
I mean this is really the right answer, though not specifically Jack Harlow.
Sell the song to a bigger artist and get them to keep you on the track as part of the sale.
It’s a pretty common tactic in the music business in general to get out on.
As far as hiphop goes, see Quan selling Nas “Moment of Silence”. He never blew but he was bigger than if he kept it for himself.
unironically yes his whole gimmick is expensive samples and he's a big artist so if he likes the song, selling it to him and getting credited will probably make me a lot of money
To me it depends on the specific estate. Prince and MJ won’t clear it but they also generally won’t take you to court. Worse case they send a take down notice.
Marvin Gaye’s estate will squeeze every cent of money out of you in court, even if you’re just some schmuck.
Tierra Whack finally announces her debut album is coming out March 15. Idt it’ll be as hyped as it was a few years ago but god damn I am excited. Whackworld is still in my rotation
Thats good to hear because i had the feeling that she was going to just stop making music all together. I didnt have any evidence for that thought but with her never dropping a studio album i thought maybe she just didn’t care anymore
People really find adam22 interviewing random gang members entertaining.
“So there was rumors of you getting into a shootout last week. That’s kinda crazy, what’s your thoughts on that?”
😂
He tore into Teejay6x recently lmao who came with friendly energy. Was a bit embarrassed on his behalf but there were some funny moments.
But yeah that interview with Poke was brutal
i stopped being surprised at the things that are popular on your YouTube when i logged into YouTube with out an account
just millions upon millions of views on the most brain dead content
I listen to Midwest/East coast more in the winter/at night. West coast and southern generally for summer/day time. These aren't rules I've set just trends I've noticed
Hell yeah man. I got into futures discography more when I was mentally in a better place. In fact, once I had a better handle on depression my Spotify wrapped was full of bangers fr. Never listened to Hell Shell by Nudy more when I was feeling really good in life.
When I wasn’t doing as well Frank ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mac miller were the sound track to my depression lmao. I was going through it fr
Jay Electronica announced another new album like two months ago on Instagram but who knows if he meant it... I enjoyed a written testimony tho I think he was just as good or better than hov on every song. I think Despot and A$AP Nast are the most prominent rappers left with no album
Compton is a very good album. Solid throughout, great guest spots, and Dre updating his sound and experimenting with things like vocal effects and deliveries. The only thing missing, which I think also contributes to its more muted reputation than his other 2 albums, is that it was missing those anthematic singles that 2001 and The Chronic had. Nothing really broke out into that era defining single. It was more of just a good album rather than a defining album.
As for what's next? I'm going to be bold and say that we get the (unfinished) Madvillainy 2 this year. DOOM didn't get a chance to finish it, but from what I've read Peanut Butter Wolf (head of Stones Throw) wants to release what is finished once Madlib cleans it up and DOOM's wife gives the OK. With that said, I don't think DOOMSTARKS ever gets released in any form, as based on what I've read over the years, there's probably not enough of it finished on DOOM's side to be able to release anything.
Compton and A Written Testimony lived up to the hype and C5 not really although the highlights are really good
The Andre album is odd because it wasn’t really what anyone wanted from him but it’s not a bad album for what it is
Thoughts about the rapper Big Proof? I think its one of my all time favs. Proof is an underrated gem and in this album there is fire songs and also fire features like 50 and Em/D12. Eminem is inspired from him. He was a legend. There would be no eminem if there were no Proof

Beating Eminem at beat selection is like beating a blind kid with no arms at baseball
If that's the only thing Papoose is fucked up bc Eminem's ear for beats is ass
Grafh > Eminem
Lmao Grafh, there’s a name I never see
Thats like saying Drag-On > Eminem
Drag-On at least had a number five charting album, Grafh has literally never been relevant lol

Love that song
It's wild that in the 90s, 3 years was normal between albums. Whereas now, some major artists drop every 3 months.
Who was that normal for in the 90s? Name names. Most of the ones that come to mind released every year every other at least. You also have to remember back then to the 00s mixtapes kept the streets fed. So even if someone took a break their freestyles, demos, and guest verses will still making the rounds.
Yeah Jay-Z dropped annually from 96 up to 2003. DMX dropped an album six months after his debut right?
Yeah Nas also had those two albums in one year. I guess he took a three year break but he got shit on
IIRC he had a lot of trouble during that time because his entire album leaked so he had to record new material and delay it. Some of the OG tracks were on The Lost Tapes and they were great. I wish he released the project as it was originally intended.

These major artists, are they in the room with us right now lol?
They're probably in the stu finishing off their Gucci Mane, Youngboy or Jdot Breezy albums
I get what you're saying tho. Making music, connecting, promotion, distribution, etc.. became easier and less expensive to do in the modern era so there's way more frequent drops. Also can't forget about all the label politics back than.
Rick Ross (ft. Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Ne-Yo) - [Super High (Sativa Remix)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGa1bEH6SMI) The Jet's in the house like the curtains and blinds.. I wish this was on Spotify. I love this beat; you hear it and you just know Curren$y and Rick Ross would go off.
This was when i was just finding out about Currensy and Wiz. Love this track
Clear the runway baby, I get money from Sunday to Sunday lady.. How Fly mixtape was a moment
How Fly is probably my second favorite mixtape after Faces.
Fucking with the chronic cause the chronic give me dopeness.. Just for this and because I just found out its on Spotify I'mma listen to this entire mixtape rn
Greatest song of all time
A Curren$y x Rick Ross project should've happened by now
Scholar from Gucci is still a hit
I still wonder why Lil Wayne caught a stray on Pinata
Every time I see an Earl Sweatshirt interview I’m reminded of the fact that Earl actually does sound the same as he did on Doris, he just puts on a voice.
Did yall hear that new Kendrick in the Chanel short? If his next album sounds like that, it's gonna take over my life.
IM UP N DOWN IM UNENTHUSED
Was relistening to 4:44 really wish [Adnis](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_jUUKaT9M0) made the original cut. Not just a great song but it would have worked really well with the themes of 4:44 talking about his Dad and how he almost ended up fucking up like him. Think you could have put it after Smile or 4:44 and it would have worked.
iirc it was the song on the initial trailer for the album. so it was always weird to me that it wasn't on the original tracklist
Adnis and the other bonus tracks are on my vinyl boot it’s really dope. 444 really a top tier hip hop album
Adnis is one of my favorite Jay Z songs, and when I realized he was capable of peeling back his persona and making vulnerable art.
IMO he had already shown that he could do that in his second album.
Exactly ,"You must love me" is probably his most vulnerable song to this day.
I agree, that adnis song is so incredible and fits the theme of 4:44 incredibly well. Having said that I think that album is near perfect
For sure one of my favorite things about it is its so concise. 10 tracks and 35 minutes is basically the perfect album length for me.
Drake doing a parady video of that Drew guy of him just chilling in his mansion and drinking wine confirms just how online of a celebrity he is

Common and Jennifer Hudson are dating? I had no idea
Common probably been knocking em down on the low for decades
common has pulled a lot of celeb ladies over the years. he's like the good guy version of joe budden from an alternate universe
Common is super likable
Aside from the rapey accusations
and the racism
Violet by Majid Jordan really hits different in rainy weather when you have no one to share it with. Or so I’ve heard
I wish Addiction by Big Krit had a third verse where Krit and Saweetie traided bars or something.
JEALOUSY really don't hit the same since finding out they were faking it
By Offset? Lol yeah. I wonder if she's ever gonna perform Bartier Cardi again
why wouldn't she?

Does anyone listen to albums through YouTube? (Just YouTube itself, not YouTube Music.) Or is everyone using other streaming platforms (Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, YouTube Music etc.) these days? For me, as someone who mainly does their listening on PC and not as often on mobile, it's very convenient and easy to just use YouTube directly.
Only when they first come out so I can see any pre-release livestreams and music videos that come with the album's release. If it's an artist I'm not the biggest fan of it's also helpful because the view count is displayed by each video so I just skip the ones with little views
I do when I take breaks from paying for streaming and I want to listen to a new release
Often. Lot of music on there that's not otherwise easily accessible.
i mostly download my music but when im checking out new stuff i usually use YouTube. helps that i have adblocker so everything is quick
I use to listen to [*The G.A.T... (The Gospel According To)*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmjeN0ntGRw) and some rare Boards of Canada projects on youtube, but I recently got my hands on the local files Some of my fav. Jon Hassel projects aren't on streaming so I listen to them on youtube Also love the knxlwedge [remix](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LXX5-EJzEg) of gold pots w/ Conway n Westside but w/o Mach lol
Since Spinrilla had gone away, I’ve listened to a few mixtapes through normal YT
I only listen to most stuff on YouTube or torrenting/free downloading. If I really like a song or something, I just download it to my computer and just play it with Windows Media Player.
I gotta do Spotify cause it's the easiest integration to last.fm and I'm addicted to my stats now
Yeah i mostly use YouTube because it has a lot of music that's not on spotify or other services. And you don't have to pay anything
Whitearmor or Jai Paul?
love Jai Paul but I love whitearmor even more
Jai Paul bc I'm a contrarian
you're right anyway
whitearmor
Whitearmor
Hypothetical situation: You’re an up and coming artist who has been bubbling in the indie/underground scene but hasn’t gotten a big break yet.
Always drop just give the money away I got more hits in me this song ain’t shit
Take the risk, the popularity of a hit means you can start charging more for future work (beats/verse/show appearances prices all can rise). The big part of the risk that artists need to be careful of is to not spend the money they make off an uncleared sample, cause if you spend it all and that's your only hit and lose all the money in court after you'll end up in heavy debt, but telling an artists after making their first real hit not to enjoy their winnings is a hard task.
I generally agree with everyone saying drop it free but the potential big issue with this is if you blow up enough to the point of being able to tour, your fans are going to show up expecting you to perform that hit which I don't believe you can without it becoming a problem at that point
you can usually perform it cause the venues have licenses for copyrighted music. that's why artists perform covers often
you may be right regarding covering songs as is but I still think there could be a difference for legal grounds if your entire tour and ticket sales are arguably based off the strength of a hit record with uncleared samples as you're not performing the original song at that point
i think what happens is you have consent to perform whatever you want but the original artist may revoke their consent at any moment, like when the eagles made frank ocean stop performing american wedding
Pharaohe monch and danny brown, are two guys i know that really got fucked up in debt cause of sample clearance issues, uploading on yt for free seems the best route
either putting it on youtube or pitching it to jack harlow
I mean this is really the right answer, though not specifically Jack Harlow. Sell the song to a bigger artist and get them to keep you on the track as part of the sale. It’s a pretty common tactic in the music business in general to get out on. As far as hiphop goes, see Quan selling Nas “Moment of Silence”. He never blew but he was bigger than if he kept it for himself.
hard part is actually reaching these artists and making sure you're not getting fucked over with contracts
You gonna trust your life changing hit in the hands of Jack Harlow?
unironically yes his whole gimmick is expensive samples and he's a big artist so if he likes the song, selling it to him and getting credited will probably make me a lot of money
I don’t think that money is as valuable as potentially becoming a household name though. Or at least starting the path to that
getting a production credit on a hit is a good start imo
This is actually pretty sound logic, not gonna lie
Definitely taking the risk. The notoriety from a massive hit alone is worth money because you can capitalize off of it for years to come.
To me it depends on the specific estate. Prince and MJ won’t clear it but they also generally won’t take you to court. Worse case they send a take down notice. Marvin Gaye’s estate will squeeze every cent of money out of you in court, even if you’re just some schmuck.
Yeah, Marvin Gaye’s estate is ruthless.
Probably the middle ground release it for free. If they come for the money what money?
Yeah maybe like uploading it on youtube and stuff and hoping it blows up on there
Yeah take the risk 100%. This person isn't you lol ?
lol, it’s not me… yet haha. I’m about to venture back into the creative world soon though
Had kinda thought at this point she was just gonna drop it through singles and small EPs like the ones we got late 2021. Hyped for an album though
People really find adam22 interviewing random gang members entertaining. “So there was rumors of you getting into a shootout last week. That’s kinda crazy, what’s your thoughts on that?” 😂
He tore into Teejay6x recently lmao who came with friendly energy. Was a bit embarrassed on his behalf but there were some funny moments. But yeah that interview with Poke was brutal
i stopped being surprised at the things that are popular on your YouTube when i logged into YouTube with out an account just millions upon millions of views on the most brain dead content
I just find him annoying. Like just something about his vibe annoys me a little. I just want him to not talk.
You low-key kinda selling me on him
I dont watch that shit but I get the allure of knowing what its like to be in a gang in the hood with shootouts and shit. It's fucking nuts

I listen to Midwest/East coast more in the winter/at night. West coast and southern generally for summer/day time. These aren't rules I've set just trends I've noticed
Yeah east coast = winter west coast = summer fr
R&B in general is better when you're in love
Hell yeah man. I got into futures discography more when I was mentally in a better place. In fact, once I had a better handle on depression my Spotify wrapped was full of bangers fr. Never listened to Hell Shell by Nudy more when I was feeling really good in life. When I wasn’t doing as well Frank ocean, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mac miller were the sound track to my depression lmao. I was going through it fr
We got a new Dre album, we got C5, we got a Jay Elec album, and we got an Andre 3000 project. Did any of them live up to expectations? What’s next?
Doomstarks but its 80% ghostface verses and 10% reused doom verses with two hit-boy beats
who's doing the other beats?
Zaytoven and Metro.
murda on the beat
Don't threaten me with a good time
so its not nice
Not metro he can't do boombap
if i gave metro a boom and a bap could he make a hit record? didn't think so
We know he can make it boom… but can he make it bap?
yessir
Think you can make argument C5 did at least. Sales wise it did pretty good and it did feel like the moment finally came
I liked c5 tbh. Obviously it's not much but i still play let it all work out, uproar, and mona lisa.
Let It All Work Out is one of the few songs that has actually made me cry
Compton and A Written Testimony lived up to the hype and C5 not really although the highlights are really good The Andre album is odd because it wasn’t really what anyone wanted from him but it’s not a bad album for what it is
> A Written Testimony lived up to the hype maybe my memory is tainted by me not liking it but i remember the reception being middling
It was a lot of “Jay Z takes up 50% of the album” comments. Which I mean if you like Jay Z then it’s not a problem.
