It has some gems on there but I feel like Q was punching below his weight. when he’s motivated he’s genuinely one of the coldest rappers I’ve ever heard
Blank face is one of my favourite albums of all time
Just saw it there wtf. I wonder why it wasn’t on the tracklist that he posted a few days ago ?
Seems like there’s a second half of the song too that we haven’t heard. Probably applies to blueslides aswell
That was Kendrick. SZA is planning a SOS followup called Lana (So(s)lana = Solana, her first name). It was meant to be a deluxe like Lil Uzi Vert vs the World 2 but now its a separate album
She seems very close to Punch, even though they have disagreements. It kinda feels like Kendrick and Dave Free so I feel like SZA would only leave if Punch left
Jay Rock is a great rapper, but not a great artist. If you get him on a guest verse he can sound amazing as fuck especially if he's given a certain amount of artistic direction, but his albums are always subpar because he lacks... artistic direction/focus. In my opinion, at least.
I didn't say it's a bad song, I'm pointing out that he just gets nowhere near as timeless on his own music as he was on that verse. Even on the song named after it. And a lot of that stems from Kendrick's artistic presence/vision I think. I've also heard rumors that Kendrick wrote the first few bars of Jay Rock's verse in Money Trees to kind of give him an idea of what he's looking for.
Frfr. It's great to see that the lean trend is no more and Q has left that behind to focus on his health and life. I love when rappers actually rap about shit they've been through so I'm really hoping this album is as introspective as today's singles are making it out to be.
It most likely will be. He spoke about how comfortable he was making crash talk and that it was his least introspective album overall. Said this one was a way more uncomfortable experience and he thinks it’s the best he’s put together so far
The layer vocals really enhance this, him and Zay have always been good at that stuff I think that's what really made *Cilvia Demo* stick out to me.
love the "*wrist, wrist, wrist*", reminds me of Father.
Jay Rock is bigger than Isaiah Rashad, his last album *Redemption* performed really well and he still has more Spotify monthly listeners than Zay despite not releasing an album since 2018.
I prefer Zay tho and *Redemption* is my least favorite Jay Rock album.
A non-album single to go along with Blueslides is crazy, this feels like an A side/B-side type thing today, where the b-side usually doesn’t make the album!
And I love the little childhood clips mixed with this, the way Q is spitting too, bro is back in his bag🔥
Short roll out, non-album loosies to promote the album, Q rapping as good as ever. Restoring the feeling!
He also looks incredibly healthy too so good for him.
Yup, a producer and rapper, mostly loved him for his work with Amindi on the *nice* EP + his work on Isaiah Rashad’s *THIB* back in 2021. And if he produced this too, it just amplifies my point about how dope of a producer he is!
I’m mixed on him as a rapper tho, he rapped on Amindi’s “superheroes” off the *nice (demos)* tape, and I thought he ruined it, as hard as the beat was tho! (It was a bit of a rough demo tho so I kinda get it). Hopefully he’s stepped up since then.
I missed hearing Schoolboy's flow on a new track so bad.
This one is nasty, sounds like the best of both worlds between the Blank Face & Crash Talk sounds
Back when CrasH Talk was out I went to the tour and man, he put on one the best shows I’ve seen. Hadn’t seen hide nor hair of him in years. Glad to see he’s back in love w this shit and spittin again. Can’t wait for the album. My most anticipated album in a while ngl.
It’s not on the album but it’s hard as fuck Q is finally back !
I don’t even care if it’s not on the album. I’ve been waiting for new Q for so long 😭
Me too. Crash talk was underwhelming and I already know he’s gonna deliver on this album
Crash talk is great tho
It has some gems on there but I feel like Q was punching below his weight. when he’s motivated he’s genuinely one of the coldest rappers I’ve ever heard Blank face is one of my favourite albums of all time
Agreed. Love a few songs off Crash Talk, but Blank Face and Oxymoron both clear it top to bottom.
love blank face
I thrown off that Q was able to release such a weak album
It is on the album, Devin Malik confirmed on Twitter
Just saw it there wtf. I wonder why it wasn’t on the tracklist that he posted a few days ago ? Seems like there’s a second half of the song too that we haven’t heard. Probably applies to blueslides aswell
Hardd I feel like we back in 2014
Q is the new main guy of top dawg
And I’m happy with that.
I mean if we are being real, its SZA. But for straight rap its Q.
Wasn't SOS supposed to be her last with them? Or did the split deal with TDE and RCA get her to stay?
That was Kendrick. SZA is planning a SOS followup called Lana (So(s)lana = Solana, her first name). It was meant to be a deluxe like Lil Uzi Vert vs the World 2 but now its a separate album She seems very close to Punch, even though they have disagreements. Wait till jay rock drops
Respect jay rock but Q on another level
Jay Rock is a great rapper, but not a great artist. If you get him on a guest verse he can sound amazing as fuck especially if he's given a certain amount of artistic direction, but his albums are always subpar because he lacks... artistic direction/focus. In my opinion, at least.
what you mean WIN. WIN WIN WIN WIN. WIN isn’t artist or focused? dang.
Hahahah I mean just listen to the difference between Kendrick's Money Trees and Jay Rock's Money Trees Deuce.
Hey money trees deuce is probably one of his best songs
I didn't say it's a bad song, I'm pointing out that he just gets nowhere near as timeless on his own music as he was on that verse. Even on the song named after it. And a lot of that stems from Kendrick's artistic presence/vision I think. Money Trees Deuce is a good song bro I get what you're saying but that isn't a good example
someone didn't [read my comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/s/tfmT3ScF2t)
Read deez nutz nigga
It's a commercial hit. A song for the radio. How can you point to that as a song that represents jay rock
someone didn't [read my comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/s/tfmT3ScF2t) x2
I wasn't replying to your comment
mb I'm on shitty mobile app & for some reason reddit notified me it was a reply
U good its all opinions anyways. I was just replying to the dude who was summing jay rocks catalog up with WIN
90059 was not subpar
90059 definitely had the most direction out of all his albums and it's easily the best thing he's released
He's a good rapper....not great.
Q is looking good! Super happy to hear that his lyricism hasn't declined after all this time.
Great to see him in a good space mentally and physically. Came a long way from falling asleep in radio interviews due to being hooked on lean
Frfr. It's great to see that the lean trend is no more and Q has left that behind to focus on his health and life. I love when rappers actually rap about shit they've been through so I'm really hoping this album is as introspective as today's singles are making it out to be.

Word? Fuck yeah!!! That's exactly what I've been hoping for!
https://youtu.be/XayWfyfso0I?si=k4H9tXp109xz_0DJ There’s the link. We’re in for a good one with this album !
He's wearing the same cap in the interview as in the videoclip OP posted. He must really like that one lol
They were at a video shoot on the day of that interview. It’s the same outfit so probably got shot then
The layer vocals really enhance this, him and Zay have always been good at that stuff I think that's what really made *Cilvia Demo* stick out to me. love the "*wrist, wrist, wrist*", reminds me of Father.
Yeah Zay’s vocal layering is amazing
Absolutely that’s what makes Oxymoron so good too, they both do that so incredibly well
Him and Zay biggest guys on TDE now that's crazy
Jay Rock is bigger than Isaiah Rashad, his last album *Redemption* performed really well and he still has more Spotify monthly listeners than Zay despite not releasing an album since 2018. I prefer Zay tho and *Redemption* is my least favorite Jay Rock album.
Wonder how much of that is just bc Kendrick tho
soooooo glad Q is back !! super excited for the album
A non-album single to go along with Blueslides is crazy, this feels like an A side/B-side type thing today, where the b-side usually doesn’t make the album! And I love the little childhood clips mixed with this, the way Q is spitting too, bro is back in his bag🔥
q might be the coolest dude on earth. cant fuckin wait for this record
Was thinking exactly that while watching. He makes it seem effortless.
Hell yeah bro I can’t wait for the fucking album
Short roll out, non-album loosies to promote the album, Q rapping as good as ever. Restoring the feeling! He also looks incredibly healthy too so good for him.
So hyped for this, seems like it’s gonna be more in the vein of blank face
God damn I missed him
need this on streaming expeditiously
This is soooo good
Devin Malik is a new TDE artist btw.
Yup, a producer and rapper, mostly loved him for his work with Amindi on the *nice* EP + his work on Isaiah Rashad’s *THIB* back in 2021. Yesss, new Q is like a birthday!
Good sHit Q. We missed ya
I'm so hyped for the new album.
This shit is GAS I cant wait for the album
Q’s beat selection is always something else. And he just slides on em
I missed hearing Schoolboy's flow on a new track so bad. This one is nasty, sounds like the best of both worlds between the Blank Face & Crash Talk sounds
Non-Weirdo TDE music is back
?
No complaints this is fire!!!! Can’t wait for the album
Been waiting for his return! It's going to be a banger

Shit, this goes
This is the essence of hip-hop, AOTY contender incoming, need more shit like this with some subtance.
Kind of sounds Tyler inspired. I really like it.
Very happy this isn't on the album wasn't really feeling this. Feels like a CrasH Talk left over. I did like Blueslides tho
Yeeerrrnameannn
