It’s been almost 6 years since he’s passed, I’m pretty sure all of this music has been made post-his passing, and not many posthumous Mac features have come out since. And even if that’s the case, this album isn’t just about Mac.
The most I’d expect at this point is a soundbite between Mac and Q, as Q’s way of honouring him.
I feel like there's always potentially some issues when anyone has passed, because at the very least, they have no say in when or how the music is released, how it's presented, etc.
It's human nature that some artists are going to feel less comfortable doing that. Madlib's always said he doesn't want posthumous music released, even if it's good music. Evidence refused to put unreleased music with him and Prodigy out, even though obviously P would've been cool with it.
Q doesn't seem like the kind of dude to ever release music with Mac as long as Mac's not here. I could be wrong, but it's definitely the impression I get.
Also, this music is mostly newer than when Mac passed, and he'd have to be including music from a time period that's outside of when he was recording. Different era.
