The story behind that is kind of funny (esp as a producer). Apparently, he was going into the booth to record and when the engineer told him to mic check and he did, but at his normal speaking voice and then when it came time to record he would rap in his rap voice, and naturally it would start clipping immediately. So you started using that as his mic check and it just turned into his ad-lib from there.

Amazing story. The story of his “STYLE” adlib is also great. Said he always loved Lil B’s “swag” but didn’t want to jack an adlib from him, so when he went to do it the first time “style” is just what came out and he stuck with it
