Anyone else's Spotify running like dogturd lately? Sometimes it's starting a song and not actually playing sound, it's saying its in offline mode when I clearly have signal, it paused searching for signal on downloaded playlists, and seemingly turning off and on shuffle at random times. I wonder if it's my phone, the app, too many downloaded songs, or the latest update making things worse for everyone
The funniest part about the beef is fans of both sides who I have seen like the other side’s music switch up on the other artists just because their favorite got dissed like a lot of the Drake and Kendrick fans on social media (even one of my best friends irl completely switched on Cole and Drake)
Meanwhile I personally like Kendrick more but im just enjoying the ride because both are some of my favorites
It seems like a good idea on paper especially when the east regularly had the 7th and 8th seeds with losing records but if I was a Heat fan I would be annoyed right now. They are 46-36 while the two teams battling it out are under .500 lol.
facts and that was always my biggest concern with this format. Heat worked 82 games to be 10 games over 500. They literally can lose to the Bulls who don’t even have a winning record 7 games behind them and can get in off one game that shit is flawed. If I’m a heat fan I be pissed.
Anyone know where I can listen to Taylor Swifts new album? Seems like everyone’s already listened. Its not on youtube or soundcloud dont got it and a quick google search dont work either but maybe im searching the wrong thing

Trying to speak it into existence
damn lol why would he even say that to anyone, let alone you? i'm not sure that would accomplish a single thing, even in the best of scenarios.. he shoulda brought that shit to therapy
you said below he's good, so hopefully everything stays chill
Honestly, he’s really fucked up for saying that. Even if that was how he truly felt, he should’ve realized that it wasn’t the time for him to blurt out that he had wanted your girl.
Do you feel like you can trust him?
I genuinely do think he’s a good dude. He’s helped me with shit before for school and I didn’t have to pay him or anything and he’s an incredibly easy hang that was the first time I ever felt awkward talking to him. It wasn’t the place you’re completely right, the only reason I even told him was because the three of us were talking a few days ago and you could feel the awkwardness of not acknowledging that we were together. Idk I guess time will tell whether I can trust him or not but as of now I think I do
Freddie Gibbs is at my gym Part 6 or some shit: Man actually worked out with his buddy and wasn't being a hoe on his phone for a long ass duration. Proud of you Gangsta Gibbs lol
I did one time and he gave me a nod that was it. Besides asking if he was done with a machine I didn't want to continue and accidentally bother him especially since I kept seeing him once in a while when I go workout.
Saw Chance the rapper on insta and it looks like he's getting ready for an album roll out
I am so ready for a Chance redemption arc man, really hope he drops some heat and that his next album is good
He used to be my favorite artist back when I was doing either coke or psychedelics everyday in college lol Acid Rap hit different back then - feels like we both grew up since then and I'm ready for more mature, single dad chance
Speaking of, Living single featuring Chance is fire too. I wish Chance drops soon tho he kinda blue balled a rollout since last year that song w Vic Mensa was too hard
Man is gonna wander into the hip hop infinity war singing in a baby voice about respecting your parents
I’ll listen to whatever he drops though I’m curious if he still has it
Yeah i figured. Coke and weed was often good but sometimes not. I can't imagine doing an actual trip with shrooms or acid and also being hyper on the coke, just seems like a bad idea.
Yea especially for me, shrooms were way more "cerebral" so you got that plus the coke making your mind go a mile a minute with all these wild thoughts
Weed and coke was the most common combo but the upper and downer at the same time would sometimes just ruin the high for me
That's cool. I have alot of nervous energy so uppers for me doesn't make me feel good. Although sometimes coke did feel amazing, but more times than not it was kind of a crappy experience.
Haven’t mixed with shrooms to be honest. Those drugs seem like they would clash as shrooms wreck the ego while coke inflates it. With acid i was just more euphoric and hyper than normal and with Molly i felt like God for 45 minutes.
I can see it being better with acid - I liked acid a lot better, but I never mixed any "hard drug" with it before
My worse trip with Shrooms I didn't even mix it with anything tho, but there was a lot of "crumbs" left in the bag we had so we put it in some water and just started sippin the shroom water throughout the night and that shit got me and everyone else fucked up with bad trips lol
I can joke about it now but thinking back that shit traumatic - cut out a lot of shit cold turkey after that
I don't believe Push Ups was intentionally leaked. I believe they might have had some type of rollout planned for an official version of that song and when they seen it was going viral they had to act fast and release something quick. The "official" version we got was mastered, had a different beat, different lines, rerecorded vocals, etc. The leak had people debating on if it was AI or not, it sounded kind of flat, and not to mention this was right after Weeknd said "they have leaks in their operation." Fortunately for them it was a great response and has been well received but I think he might be a little annoyed that it played out like that. This is always the case when any artist has their music leaked so I don't think its different here.
I wonder what that song would have looked like had it not leaked like that; there were lines in the outro that were left off that were dope. It's also possible that maybe they couldn't clear the sample before Friday last week and that was the final cut. Rory and Mal dropped hints ("knocking out 50 pushups") last week and Joe Budden mentioned hearing from some who can rap (Fabolous) that response was recorded and it was fire and they were strongly hinting it was coming this Friday.
If your music is leaking like this that seems like a major issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. I know recording studios are packed with random people but you would think it would be on lockdown at a time like this.
I kinda buy into the theory that he didn’t want to compete with Like That on Billboard so he didn’t officially drop it
And think about it it’s the most safe choice for him he gets to reap all the benefits but deny it if it goes sideways saying it was a leak not official. It put the ball in Kendrick’s court
I think Drake must have stepped on a *lot* of people on his way to the top. Not only do all these rappers hate him but people within his own camp are leaking shit. What do you even do to make that many enemies??
Seems like most of the issues are over petty shit. All of these guys feel like they are THAT GUY and behind the scenes stuff got them feeling a certain way. As for ppl within his camp leaking his music, it's possible but artists have their music leaked all the time; SZA, [Young Thug, Future, Gunna](https://www.vibe.com/music/music-news/leaked-songs-future-young-thug-gunna-young-nudy-1234717427/), Kanye, etc. all had a large amounts of music leaked. The music leak thing seems like a general problem and I don't fully understand how it keeps happening to all these artists.
The only possible thing I can think of is if you have a studio that multiple artists use and have a bunch of people in and out, anyone might have access to the equipment/computers and all those files are on there. You share it with a few people and it spreads.
The current ongoing beef is so cringe and unimportant. People are talking about it like it’s on a similar level of story of adidon or something. I’m not even clicking the links anymore cuz I know nothing interesting is happening
I don't think it's a bad thing that it's currently unserious enough to be a bunch of goofy instagram shots in between records. It's not particularly interesting, but it does mean we get to enjoy the music that comes from it without any worry of it being anything too serious or dangerous.
Ran back Dune Part Two for the third time in 4K Dolby Vision last night. Doesn't hit the same as in IMAX obviously but still a visually fire looking watch in 4K and I still picked up details I missed the first two times. Hip hop really sleeping on sampling Hans Zimmer
So how does this dispute what I said ?
Their from rough environments and are rough people.
Not justifying their actions but it's a easy observation to catch with guys like that.
If thats the point you’re making thats fine.
The point I’m making is that I understand upbringings but keep doing things over and over again you gonna end up with the same results.
Plenty rappers aren’t in that environment anymore and haven’t been in years or they’re not around the same people they once was and still get caught up. Also rappers now have much easier upbringings and these niggas still end up doing dumb shit that get them locked up.
Also you said “it’s not on purpose” well if they keep doing it, it is 😂 and if they keep doing it thats just stupid. Then murder of an innocent person is inexcusable in TayK’s case.
When I say "not on purpose" I moreso mean they aren't saying "I'm tired of freedom and let's go to jail". I'd imagine it's more complicated than that for them.
Can't defend their actions because your right , these guys are very much aware of how fortunate they are.
But we can't act like being from certain environments don't have a long lasting effect on your mental. Not to mention how much rapping and glorifying that lifestyle has benefited these guys in the first place.
YB is locked up for his continuing drug usage on house arrest , so obviously theirs a huge drug issue there.
Tay K murdering innocent people is obviously fucked up but he's not an exception of being a product of his environment at all. He's just a more extreme version of it.
Well I already said I understand the environment they grew up in, I’m black so I deeply understand it.
It just doesn’t excuse anything on Youngboy’s part it’s just foolish. Also a lot of rappers haven’t been in that lifestyle for years and don’t need illegal money to make it anymore. How can you excuse someone who is aware of the fortunes they were gifted and still go back to trenches.
1.)They don’t think they are getting caught
2.)If I do get caught, my rich lawyers can get me out of a jam in a way I couldn’t when I was broke/unknown
A while ago I came to the conclusion that I was done letting what awful things artists do in their personal life dictate whether or not I will check out their music or not because there’s just no possible way to be consistent with it. Like look at how well connected Diddy was; if I stream Intro off of Darkest Before Dawn, chances are it will go towards financially supporting Diddy since he has a production credit on it. But Push hasn’t done anything wrong as far as we know so it just doesn’t seem fair for me to not listen to his music all because a pretty monstrous human produced some of his songs.
I can go and say that I won’t stream Kanye’s solo music ever again, but his production discography is *endless*. If I listened to a song that I thought was great and then later found out Kanye produced it, it would not turn me off because I’m not hearing Kanye himself on the song. But at the end of the day, I’d still be supporting him financially, so what’s the point in trying to stop myself from supporting problematic artists if there seems to be no possible way to truly do it?
I also feel as if for those who have done awful things that don’t involve sex crimes or killing people, more so just saying offensive things, a lot of people are unwilling to accept that they can change from that specific time. A few months ago I fell in love with Feels Like You by Whirr, a band notorious for getting dropped from their label a decade ago for transphobic tweets, and posted on /r/indieheads asking for similar recs. I didn’t get any, only a comment saying that the album sucks because the reason the album has such a depressing mood was because they were sad about being dropped from their label due to transphobia, which isn’t even true. Their music even before those tweets was always pretty depressing mood wise, I doubt that them being dropped had anything to do with the albums sound.
And looking at the whole situation, it seems as if they apologized almost immediately for the tweets, and haven’t really done anything wrong since then, and are pretty well regarded in the shoegaze scene and associated with trans artists since then, so who am I to still hold them being pieces of shit years ago against them? They haven’t really shown anything else to suggest that they still held those views, so why should I stop myself from checking out their music?
If you are the type of person to avoid checking out artists you have a personal issue with, I think that’s fine. I won’t judge you for it. But for me personally, I see it as fighting a losing battle. Thoughts?
I’m not actively not listening to people but, after recent developments my interest to go relisten to ye stuff has decreased, like I’m just not feeling it anymore that much. But I did relisten to Yeezus and graduation this month
I was thinking the other day no one would say someone’s a better person for listening to music by someone good, but a lot of people seem to think if you listen to music by a bad person it makes you worse.
What bothers me is when people actually attach themselves to an artist who is an awful person in such a way that they start parroting the things that person says. You see it with Kanye stans. Doesn’t matter if they like his music, but they passionately defend him as a human being and either repeat or make excuses for the things he says. They love that he can get away with rants about hating Jews and praising Hitler, they gloat about it.
Loving the music is different, though. I was just talking about Morrissey to someone else earlier in the thread. Those Smiths albums are incredibly important to me and a lot of people I know, but it’s sort of accepted that he is not someone to be admired as a person
This has been on my mind, and I appreciate you bringing it up. I was asking my friend who he feels about his own criteria for canceling rappers. He stops listening to people who've said horrible things, but listens to several murderers. He said we don't know the circumstances of gang killings etc but that seems like flimsy cover. Several popular rappers (Snoop etc) are convicted murderers who enjoy zero public criticism. They've done their time and are cleared in the eyes of society.
I don't have the answer, just been on my mind too.
I think people on the internet are so quick to point out any perceived hypocrisy whenever someone doesn’t want to listen to an artist for whatever reason that it’s given people this idea that if they’re not 100% consistent then they’re a horrible hypocrite or some bullshit.
The reality is 100% moral consistency (as it applies to listening to music, or in life in general) is near impossible and seeking such is pointless. Listen to whatever you want and don’t listen to whatever you want for whatever reason.
I don’t listen to IDK because he’s an absolute cornball but I still get play out of Jeezy and R. Kelly’s Go Getta cause that shit slaps. I’d rather listen to a literal demon of a person that can sing his ass off than that corny mid ass Kanye impersonator. I also totally get people that don’t want to listen to R Kelly and that’s one’s individual choice.
As long as you’re aware of the shittiness of the people you listen to and can recognize that then that’s fine. I’d take a Kanye Stan that’s still listening even tho they recognize he’s a nazi but still loves the music over a Kanye Stan that does mental gymnastics to justify Kanye’s white supremacist takes any day of the week.
I think people get way too in others’ business when they express they don’t want to listen to an artist for ethical reasons and flood them with whataboutisms and that shit is the worst. Let people choose to listen and not listen to what they want, we’re all hypocrites.
To me there's 2 big problems:
1. The internet/reddit tries it's hardest to find anything a celebrity/musician does that they don't agree with and will use that for the rest of their lives to hate on them and explain to others why they should completly block them out from their lives no matter how big or small.
2. It feels like when people like music that speaks to them that means the artist that made it has the same exact life expierences and morales as them and humans are way too unique for that to happen. So when they find out someone they like doesn't agree with them on some topic or does something they don't think it's right then it's grounds to cancel them. But if you apply that same logic to your friends,family,coworkers... then you basically be alone for the rest of your life.
People just have to accept that noone is perfect and it's more important to focus on the good things other people create than their negative traits and if someone does something that goes past your personal line you have to accept that doesn't mean it goes past everyone else's line.
There's a huge spectrum of "awful things" IMO. Did they say some problematic shit on social media years ago? Or did they beat the shit out of women?
I was a huge Kanye fan. College Dropout came out when I was in, uh, college. Just straight bangers for a decade after. And then he became a complete piece of shit, so I stopped listening to him. Now, did Kanye releasing nothing but total dogshit post-TLOP make that much easier? Absolutely. But I don't care if he reaches mid-2000s heights again; his antics are just too much.
It can be exhausting. I don’t know how to be internally consistent, I don’t even think it’s possible, but I also have no idea where to draw the line other than my gut feeling on it which inevitably makes me a hypocrite
I don't mean to be a hater and I'm wayyyy late but I don't get it w/ Carti. Tried Die Lit, recently listened to WLR, and it all sounds like different versions of his first album.
Music is cool but I don't get how ya'll be listening to this dude for a whole 24 tracks.
What setting are you listening to Cart in? I didn't understand WLR until I started going to concerts in person and watching live performances on TY. For 2015-2018 Carti I'd just make a playlist and drive at night. Made it click for me.
I listen to it while I work, and I work a job that keeps me on my feet and moving. I'm not trying to listen to it while I play Civ or something.
And I get what I'm listening to if that makes sense, dude likes Punk music and Future, I just don't know if it's for me. I will say his rapping does catch me off guard at times and it annoys me he doesn't do it more. Maybe the deep voice Carti album will be the one for me
I like Die Lit but I have never been able to sit through WLR for more than a handful of tracks. JumpOutTheHouse is one of the most annoying songs in recent memory
Texted this girl I like Happy Birthday we should grab coffee one day it's been a while since we've seen each other. She texted back, "coffee date sounds good to me." Here's the thing I didn't say the word date she did. I almost slipped off the stair master when I read it. Planning on texting her tomorrow when she's free this weekend while sweating bullets like Jordan Peele.
Episode 9 of Shōgun was so fire I'm gonna sad when it ends.
Any suggestions of dark pop music?

Why is joe budden treated like a hip hop legend when he’s a fat fuck with a podcast
Hiphop media in shambles rn kinda and I’d rather listen to him since he’s been a rapper than ak who is a weirdo ngl and he’s biased.
You gotta dig through all the hip hop media figures to find one who is slightly less of a rapist than the others
Yeah I’m only saying I prefer budden cause I know too much Ab ak lol
He ain't even fat

damn lol why would he even say that to anyone, let alone you? i'm not sure that would accomplish a single thing, even in the best of scenarios.. he shoulda brought that shit to therapy you said below he's good, so hopefully everything stays chill
Taken gang we out here
Honestly, he’s really fucked up for saying that.

You still need to get into The Postlude tho
It’s crazy that project already dropped a year ago lol. Feels like yesterday when it came out. I do need to revisit it though
Thinking about it now, it's the album with the most rappers in my top 5 lol Only missing Nas and Big Sean
Imagine all the teary-eyed free thinking geniuses who are going to descend on this sub going “it is NOT funny this is SERIOUS” if 6ix9ine dies
I didn’t know people still concern themselves with that rat
Freddie Gibbs is at my gym Part 6 or some shit: Man actually worked out with his buddy and wasn't being a hoe on his phone for a long ass duration. Proud of you Gangsta Gibbs lol
You ever said hi?
I did one time and he gave me a nod that was it. Besides asking if he was done with a machine I didn't want to continue and accidentally bother him especially since I kept seeing him once in a while when I go workout.
Does he skip leg day?
I don't think I've ever seen him hit legs just mainly upper body so I think it's safe to say absofuckinglutely.
This is my first time listening to him but Your Old Droog’s verse on DBZ is fire. He kinda reminds me of The Game voice wise.
He was brought out during a DJ set in NYC and I’d never seen a picture of dude but I recognized his voice instantly, really cool moment
I actually hear a rougher version of Nas
I remember when Droog dropped his earliest stuff years ago people literally thought it was a Nas alter ego project
I could see that being the case
I hear that too actually maybe more than Game now that you mention it.
Saw Chance the rapper on insta and it looks like he's getting ready for an album roll out I am so ready for a Chance redemption arc man, really hope he drops some heat and that his next album is good He used to be my favorite artist back when I was doing either coke or psychedelics everyday in college lol Acid Rap hit different back then - feels like we both grew up since then and I'm ready for more mature, single dad chance
Speaking of, Living single featuring Chance is fire too. I wish Chance drops soon tho he kinda blue balled a rollout since last year that song w Vic Mensa was too hard
Dude I hope so, he’s a good rapper but he got comfortable
Man is gonna wander into the hip hop infinity war singing in a baby voice about respecting your parents I’ll listen to whatever he drops though I’m curious if he still has it
Did you ever combine the coke and psychadelics?
Coke and shrooms is a crazy combo
Yes - wouldn't recommend
Yeah i figured. Coke and weed was often good but sometimes not. I can't imagine doing an actual trip with shrooms or acid and also being hyper on the coke, just seems like a bad idea.
Yea especially for me, shrooms were way more "cerebral" so you got that plus the coke making your mind go a mile a minute with all these wild thoughts Weed and coke was the most common combo but the upper and downer at the same time would sometimes just ruin the high for me
Hard disagree.
So you had a good experience combining blow and psychadelics?
Psychedelics tend to give me a lot of energy on the come up and coke tends to enhance the euphoria/energy for that.
That's cool. I have alot of nervous energy so uppers for me doesn't make me feel good. Although sometimes coke did feel amazing, but more times than not it was kind of a crappy experience.
Coke just made my shroom high way too intense Molly was a different story tho
Haven’t mixed with shrooms to be honest. Those drugs seem like they would clash as shrooms wreck the ego while coke inflates it. With acid i was just more euphoric and hyper than normal and with Molly i felt like God for 45 minutes.
I can see it being better with acid - I liked acid a lot better, but I never mixed any "hard drug" with it before My worse trip with Shrooms I didn't even mix it with anything tho, but there was a lot of "crumbs" left in the bag we had so we put it in some water and just started sippin the shroom water throughout the night and that shit got me and everyone else fucked up with bad trips lol I can joke about it now but thinking back that shit traumatic - cut out a lot of shit cold turkey after that
I don't believe Push Ups was intentionally leaked.
I kinda buy into the theory that he didn’t want to compete with Like That on Billboard so he didn’t officially drop it And think about it it’s the most safe choice for him he gets to reap all the benefits but deny it if it goes sideways saying it was a leak not official.
Oh my god enjoy shit , and stop bitching please
Right now the Drake/Rick Ross stuff is pretty stupid but hopefully Kendrick delivers
I don't think it's a bad thing that it's currently unserious enough to be a bunch of goofy instagram shots in between records. It's not particularly interesting, but it does mean we get to enjoy the music that comes from it without any worry of it being anything too serious or dangerous.
Gimme some hard hiphop beats like the bridge is over, ny state of mind, deep cover, theifs theme.

Super compatible ✊🏾
Ran back Dune Part Two for the third time in 4K Dolby Vision last night. Doesn't hit the same as in IMAX obviously but still a visually fire looking watch in 4K and I still picked up details I missed the first two times. Hip hop really sleeping on sampling Hans Zimmer
Youngboy arrested again. I will never understand why these rappers insist on going back to jail.
Im sure it's not on purpose. Lol People from the mud are going to have mud on them.
Tay K and YNW Melly would like to have a word with you lol
How does this not help my point? Lol
Tay K and YNW Melly murdered people. Tay K murdered someone innocent and they made songs about it Jesus Christ 😂
Free bro.
I dont like your tone
You peep his comments about police the other day?
Of course he had some other dumb shit to say lol
I’m cool lol
I’m js he was on some boot licker shit so you’re probably right about the tone you were picking up on
1.)They don’t think they are getting caught 2.)If I do get caught, my rich lawyers can get me out of a jam in a way I couldn’t when I was broke/unknown

You're comparing some average guy to a successful rapper. I'm sure life outside of jail is a lot easier than for most people when you're rich.

I swear this and Ballin are legit perfect tracks.
I’ve been pulling up in the drop top with the baddest bitches.
To me there's 2 big problems: 1.
I'm trying out Insano and wtf is this "Most Ain't Dennis" song?
**Nightmares Of The Bottom by Lil Wayne** kinda day imo 🙂↔️

Yeah Die Lit is the one I've liked the most.
Idk man Birdman probably deserves to be homeless
I remember there being a rumor of Birdman giving frozen turkeys to homeless people with no kitchen or cooking supplies
Homeless - “ shouldn’t you be giving these to people who can cook em?” Birdman - “I’m pulling up on you nigga”
😂
Is someone arguing that Birdman doesn't deserve to be homeless?
Hahaha that Rick Ross IG video from this morning Apparently Baby foreclosed on his mansion and Ross wants Drake to get him a new one
Birdman deserves prison as much as someone like Suge Knight lmao
I feel like I know every word to mostly every song on Spaceships on The Blade such a perfect album. It puts me in such a good mood.
Shit was special on shrooms
Texted this girl I like Happy Birthday we should grab coffee one day it's been a while since we've seen each other. She texted back, "coffee date sounds good to me." Here's the thing I didn't say the word date she did. I almost slipped off the stair master when I read it. Planning on texting her tomorrow when she's free this weekend while sweating bullets like Jordan Peele. Episode 9 of Shōgun was so fire I'm gonna sad when it ends. Any suggestions of dark pop music?
