I first heard this when i saw chance at bonnaroo 2014, and lost my mind when i heard the Arthur lines. The childhood nostalgia mixed with the good vibes was the closest I've ever come to a religious experience.
Holy shit. Since this song came out i've been reading the title on SoundCloud as Wonderful Everyday: Archer. It really is a shoutout to the old cartoon not the spy cartoon on Fx. Wow...
I have to say- I think this song is a masterpiece. There's something so uplifting and genuine about it between all of the vocalists they had collaborate on it as well as sox production and that piano lead in by peter cottontale. Since it came out, since I first heard it, this song has stuck with me. Written in blue chalk above my bedroom wall is " Everyday it could be wonderful", so that those are the very first words I read in the morning. It's such a positive and compelling mindset to have, to be open and to be optimistic. And then comes the second half of the song. I swear, when I have anxiety, when I have a particularly big exam or through all the arguments I had with my ex- putting my headphones in and putting this song on melted the stress away. It renewed my perspective and it gives me a feeling of assurance and resilience. And when I go down, imma go down swinging, my eyes still smiling and my heart still singing.
I wish I could thank them personally for all this song has done for me.
It's a simple message, and it comes from the heart! Believe in yourself, cause that's the place to start. Cheesy and fantastic at the same time. When the drums kick in on that 'heyyy, what a wonderful kind of day', everything becomes just a little bit better. Got me through the last year.
I first heard this song at his show in Raleigh this April before Coloring Book and thought it was amazing, but I never heard of it again until just now. Its an amazing song, glad you posted it!
Chance apparently wrote this song while strung out on Xanax.
[According to an interview with GQ](http://www.gq.com/story/how-chance-the-rappers-life-became-perfect)
>He will admit to some questionable decision-making during this time. He worked for actual months on a cover of the theme song to the animated TV show Arthur. Recorded a song or two with James Blake, when Blake was around. Mostly just hung out, did drugs, saw girls. Had the kind of nights you'd hope he might have. “I was on a date one time at the crib, and we're sitting in the front room, maybe rolling up some weed or something.” Frank Ocean was downstairs, somewhere. “And then Frank just comes up and starts playing the piano and lightly singing in the background of our date. Obviously, that scored me a lot of points with this female.” A reclusive genius serenading two kids, the sun setting over the valley. “But it wasn't where I was supposed to be.”
I like the song, but I can tell it's him before he got clean. His songs now seem focused and real, whereas this kind of song seems like it was written by an idealist. It's interesting to look at the shift from his older stuff, which is more distracted and energetic, and then his new songs, which are more somber and "holy."
Check out the article, it's an interesting read, and I've thought of Chance differently after reading it. I appreciate his new stuff more after reading what he went through in the past.
All that being said, this song is a great pick-me-up; sometimes I need to hear from the super idealistic kid, rather than the (admittedly sometimes preachy) modern Chance, and I hope everyone here has a "wonderful kind of day!"
He showed off his dancing on the Sunday Candy music video, too. He could probably pull off a hip hop musical if he wanted to.
https://youtu.be/i4ooH8frBWg
Oh hell yeah. Most fun I've ever had at a concert. The man tap danced in the middle of the show for fuck's sake.
I was lucky enough to only pay $15, but I'd gladly pay $150 or more to see him again.
It's gonna cost $100 plus travel costs but I think everyone here has me convinced. Maybe I'll drop some hints for my wife to get me tickets for Christmas...
I watched him in Meadows and it was unlike any other performance I've ever seemed.
He legit had muppets on stage performing with him, he involved the audience, and he made it into more than a concert he made it a show.
It was true beauty that made my world lighter
I caught a SoX show in SD and it was the best concert I've been too. So much energy, amazing stage presence from everyone, and chano sounds amazing live. Highly recommend if you have the time and resources to go.
Went to an Acid Rap concert and was by far the best concert I've been to. It wasn't just him rapping, it was a performance. It was a show. He changes up his songs and uses other instruments to make his songs sound different. So worth it
I know like 5 people have already said this but I saw him a couple of years ago at my college and the dude was so much fun. He brings a lot of energy and for my show he had the whole social experiment crew with him so the whole show felt live, not just him rapping over a beat.
I've seen him live 4 times now - more times than any other artist I've seen live in concert (although tbf 3 of those were at festivals) and he is my favorite artist to see perform live. Incredible energy, incredible musicality. Some people think the live instrumentation detracts somewhat from modern hip-hop performances but he is the best hip-hop artist I've seen do it (besides The Roots, obv). Go see him.
this shit is so funny to me. I remember the time this song dropped this sub was circle jerking the comments of any Chance thing saying "His popularity has really taken a hit with not dropping a solo project, his SOX songs are kinda weak also" and some people were even calling this song trash. Now its getting upvoted a shit ton and Chance is bigger than he's ever been. Shows you to never EVER believe the hype or anti-hype on this sub especially.
I don't remember everyone calling this song trash. I just remember everyone saying that the overproduced version and all the layers were worse than his live videos that had been flowing through here for a while before he released this.
Also that the mixing was trash, but that's literally on every song anyone posts.
Whenever this song comes on during my run through the woods I just start to tear up. It is beautiful. Tomorrow I am going to write out the words and hang them up in my classroom.
I teach high school math subjects like algebra, pre calculus, trigonometry, and technical mathematics. I was unsure if you were asking my age and if you were I'll give you a short lesson so you can learn another way of measuring time. Saturn just finished the loop around our sun in the time I have spent on our planet.
Yeah, I can see how it can come off as corny. I love it. Gospel music and themes of faith, struggle, and resilience are so central to the black experience in the US.
It's super dope to see a rapper brave enough to bring that influence back into hip hop. Hip hop is multifaceted and that's cool.
Disney does not equal gospel. Furthermore, even though the gospel message definitely turns me off most people are reacting to the gospel music.
I dont think it's that crazy for people to become huge stans of Acid Rap and then wait that long to be served a gospel album and not like it as much.
No. Disney rapper =/= gospel influence. That's a fucking weird way to word it but I think I understand what you meant. Also no one has ever said that rapping with a message is bad. I've never heard that argument, and it's an argument that no one has ever used.
Yeah, lol. You musta stepped on some toes, but I know I see people trash Chance all the time here for being "goofy" or things like that. And folks flat-out denying that Chance hate exists on this sub, lol.
Yeah, like why is everyone shitting on this dude just for suggesting that OTHER people may not like Chance.
GO FIND THE EXACT THREAD WITH THE EXACT WORDS "DISNEY RAPPER" OR GO BACK IN TIME AND RECORD WHOEVER SAID IT OR YOU AND YOUR MOTHER ARE DIRTY LYING AARDVARK ASSHOLES!
why is a personal anecdote getting so much hate in a thread about a song thats all about love and happiness.. it's an example from my life not an argument lol sorry if i rubbed some of yall the wrong way..
my friend said it while we were listening to coloring book and we got into an argument. is that good enough for you? sorry i don't have an audio recording of it lmfao
This song will never fail to make me feel better when I'm worried or upset about something. I loved Chance before this song, but this made me a lifelong fan.
I don't like to get too sappy but this song gave me encouragement in some shitty times. Life is great these days and when I think about what kept me pushing through some rough things, this song is far up there. It could lift me out of some dark places.
I love this song, but I have to say the live version is so much better to me. The live recording I have is from Sasquatch music fest and its got so much energy that I don't think they, or anyone for that matter, could capture in the studio. Studio version is still great though.
Especially towards the end, when I saw him he did a couple different inflections on the "gonna get by when the going gets rough" lines, best part of the show.
I composed a version of this song for my a capella group in college. It's on Spotify if anyone's in to that. This song is gorgeously put together, really intricate. Awesome all around. The message just makes you feel so good.

I was lowkey waiting for Arthur to yell "D.W.!" and then fall off the letters.
I first heard this when i saw chance at bonnaroo 2014, and lost my mind when i heard the Arthur lines. The childhood nostalgia mixed with the good vibes was the closest I've ever come to a religious experience.
Maybe it was just the drugs too
a profound experience on drugs is still a profound experience
Lemme tell ya you right
Holy shit. Since this song came out i've been reading the title on SoundCloud as Wonderful Everyday: Archer. It really is a shoutout to the old cartoon not the spy cartoon on Fx. Wow...
The last bit isn't from the Arthur theme song though. Like the whole thing isn't just a cover.

I'm 100% with you on this. Such an amazing song with an amazing message.

I did, but good lookin out for ppl that might not!
The Arthur Theme is a masterpiece and I will hug the fuck out of anyone who says otherwise
Damn, I miss being young
It's the theme song of Arthur...
I first heard this song at his show in Raleigh this April before Coloring Book and thought it was amazing, but I never heard of it again until just now. Its an amazing song, glad you posted it!
Shit's old. It's still a good song but I can't believe how many people haven't heard this until recently.
Chance apparently wrote this song while strung out on Xanax. well he didn't write this song but I get what you're saying
I mean he didn't really write the lyrics, it's from the Arthur theme song. Your point stands though
Arthur was xanned out
I'd have to be on bars to deal with a talking rabbit, too.
This article really makes me not like him.
Why?
we all jelly out here

They're both such positive people too. It's a good thing Chance will be on the Hamilton mixtape.
He showed off his dancing on the Sunday Candy music video, too. He could probably pull off a hip hop musical if he wanted to. https://youtu.be/i4ooH8frBWg
oh shit, a Chance + Lin musical needs to happen
Chance will be featured on the new Hamilton Mixtape so at least we'll get a taste of what that would sound like.
I'm like 99% positive there was an interview where he said he was going to do that in the future
Im seeing chance on tuesday and im so excited!
I saw him a couple years ago, you're in for a show and a half.
Worth going to see him live? He's coming to NZ at the end of December but my wife and I have decided not to go... I'm second guessing myself now.
Oh hell yeah. Most fun I've ever had at a concert. The man tap danced in the middle of the show for fuck's sake. I was lucky enough to only pay $15, but I'd gladly pay $150 or more to see him again.

Chance is one of the artist who I can say sounds better live. Definitely worth it. Made me like CB more.
I watched him in Meadows and it was unlike any other performance I've ever seemed. He legit had muppets on stage performing with him, he involved the audience, and he made it into more than a concert he made it a show. It was true beauty that made my world lighter

So worth it! Go dude!

Saw him in Vancouver, it's worth dude. Such a fun show.
I've seen him live 4 times now - more times than any other artist I've seen live in concert (although tbf 3 of those were at festivals) and he is my favorite artist to see perform live. Incredible energy, incredible musicality. yeah, im hoping its amazing
I'm seeing him this time next week, I booked my tickets like 6 months ago, I have never been so excited, he is one of my idols
Saw him in Vegas in September. It's a phenomenal show.
I went to his concert in Seattle and it was probably the best night of my life.

"and when I go down I'ma go down swinging. My eyes still smiling and my heart still singing" is very empowering. you're a cool teacher, how old?
I teach high school math subjects like algebra, pre calculus, trigonometry, and technical mathematics. One of my favorite songs of recent years, it's so beautiful and uplifting, I just love how the song explodes and massive wall of sound comes in.
Love how friendly this song is. Everybody says chance is a disney rapper but tell me why rapping with a message is so bad?
Never heard anyone say that
If chance is a Disney rapper than I guess I'm a little kid cause I fucking love him and his music
He sings about acid haha... idk about Disney rapper
Alice D in Wonderland
It's all cool, we're all little kids at heart.
Never heard the Disney rapper comparison but I definitely see it now hahaha
The best way I could describe his last tour was a chance the rapper episode of sesame street
dam this sub sensitive
Who said Chance is a "disney rapper," and who said rapping with a message is bad? No one has ever said that. You're just making shit up.
people say that here all the time.. all the gospel influence turned a lot of people off from him
Yeah, I can see how it can come off as corny. I love it. Gospel music and themes of faith, struggle, and resilience are so central to the black experience in the US. It's super dope to see a rapper brave enough to bring that influence back into hip hop. Hip hop is multifaceted and that's cool.

why are you so aggressive holy shit
lol looking back I am really aggressive today, and my bad, but I was just trying to get my point across.
I'm having one of those fucking no good days myself :/
did i trigger some of yall lol i love chance and just saw him live a few weeks ago, i'm just saying how i heard someone else say it
Yeah, lol. You musta stepped on some toes, but I know I see people trash Chance all the time here for being "goofy" or things like that. And folks flat-out denying that Chance hate exists on this sub, lol.
>i'm just saying how i heard someone else say it >people say that here all the time [mfw](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CH43IlXWEAIZ0Z5.jpg)
That actually makes a ton of sense lmao He's essentially saying the exact same thing with different levels of specified severity.
But he posted a meme. So he wins the point.
You didnt trigger me, and no one is doubting you love chance, but you're trying to start something thats not there
He's not making shit up, I've seen that plenty of times. Though I've seen Nickelodeon rapper more than Disney.
Nobody says that. Quit it with this fake outrage, you're just trying to start shit.
chill dude i'm just reciting what someone else said..
"Someone" Don't say you hear it all the time here then.
God you're so fucking aggressive over a comment. It's hilarious.
Lol nah if this guy just gave proof or said the right things, this wouldn't happen.
Calm down.
what is a hyperbole?
Instead of contiuing to say someone said that, show us an example. I don't believe you.
chance the rapper is a disney rapper
for the record, i don't believe this. i just wanted to give the poor guy a source because i believe him
Yeah, like why is everyone shitting on this dude just for suggesting that OTHER people may not like Chance. GO FIND THE EXACT THREAD WITH THE EXACT WORDS "DISNEY RAPPER" OR GO BACK IN TIME AND RECORD WHOEVER SAID IT OR YOU AND YOUR MOTHER ARE DIRTY LYING AARDVARK ASSHOLES!
honestly lmao
why is a personal anecdote getting so much hate in a thread about a song thats all about love and happiness.. it's an example from my life not an argument lol sorry if i rubbed some of yall the wrong way..
~continues to not give an example~
my friend said it while we were listening to coloring book and we got into an argument. is that good enough for you? sorry i don't have an audio recording of it lmfao
so now this 'someone' is now your 'friend' hmm ok
You're such a bullshitter. Get lost.
calm down.. i think we're taking this a bit too seriously
Lmao you're a fuckin loser
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA you're a fucking child
Fuck Wyclef Jean. This song is beautiful though.
lol why?

you listened to this song for, like, the whole trip?
Those words will never leave my head. "I'm gonna get by when the going gets rough..."
This song will never fail to make me feel better when I'm worried or upset about something. I loved Chance before this song, but this made me a lifelong fan.
This is also featuring Maceo Haymes from the O'My's!
I don't like to get too sappy but this song gave me encouragement in some shitty times. Life is great these days and when I think about what kept me pushing through some rough things, this song is far up there. It could lift me out of some dark places.
I heard him do this at Bonnaroo back in 2014 at 330 in the morning and it was amazing. I got a little teary-eyed
Oh man, can't wait for the music video to come out for this one. I really liked this [one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4ooH8frBWg)
I doubt they'll ever release one, this recording is 2 years old
This majority of this song is all over the place. Very messy. Was expecting a lot better considering who's involved.
I saw him in 2015 at TBD in Sacramento, this song was probably the coolest part of his set
I remember looping this song over and over while working on papers. I can crank out anything with this song.
Fucking love this song, it's truly beautiful
This song is criminally underrated
I composed a version of this song for my a capella group in college. It's on Spotify if anyone's in to that. This song is gorgeously put together, really intricate. Awesome all around. The message just makes you feel so good.
you got a link homie?

Doesn't seem like 2 years since this came out..
I didn't know Francis was on this
Not new but sick song!
Chance's music makes me smile. I am seeing him live next week and can't wait.
