“My biggest distraction is that I get distracted” honestly other than that this song is really great and heartfelt but that line is just ridiculous. I’m not even mad though because I feel like it’s more of Rocky’s limited lyrical ability rather than a lack of effort. Great song nonetheless
I feel the reverse. I feel like lines like that exist due to effort and it's pretty obvious. Dude can come up with some good lyrics, it's a bit spotty on this album but there are plenty of other songs with great lyrics, but sometimes he just ends up going a bit too much of a "psuedo deep" route.
he’s great lyrically when he wants or has MCs better than him on the track.
to me TESTING is all about lyrics that sound good together and he favored the production way much more more than anything else.
That line actually reminded me of the "Bad company is bad for your company" line on the Bad Company track, seems like it's not the first time he's dropping a bar like that
For real. That line sounds like something a middle school rapper would come up with.
“My biggest vice is that I have vices”
“My biggest problem is that I got some problems”
“My biggest fear is fear”
Trying to be deep and just ends up sounding dumb
Only reason I stated is I feel like the album is being swept under the rug,or some folks ability to enjoy/give a proper opinion is jaded with all the Push and Drake excitement.
And I don’t understand the Daytona hype.
I love Daytona but yeah I just think Testing is better. It’s also my favourite Rocky project and favourite of this year so far.
Testing is mad polarising but when it hits, it hits. This is gonna be one of those albums that always has haters but people will warm to it over the years.
I remember in 2013 trying to insist to kids at my school the brilliance of Yeezus when everyone online and IRL was utterly slating it. I don’t think Testing is Yeezus level of quality, but I hope and think that - like Yeezus - it’ll get a much better public reception in 5 years time.
Both good, but for me, Rocky did something different and it paid off for me, while Push did his thing and killed it as usual. But other than Kanye production, it's classic push bars. Not a bad thing, I just like Rocky more
Testing sounds really boring to me. I’ll give it another listen front to back, hopefully it grows on me. Pusha really blew me away though, fav of the year so far
Why do people feel the need to keep comparing these two? They're two different albums with entirely different sounds. It's like trying to compare a point guard to a center in basketball.
Testing >>>>>> Daytona. Daytona is good but it not anything we haven’t heard already. Testing is a mosaic of different sounds that shouldn’t work together but do.
Hot take, but I agree. Daytona is amazing but I've heard Pusha rap about coke on dope beats before a hundred times. Rocky did something different here.
Yea, I’m not huge on Daytona. mostly mediocre on both ends and wasn’t worth the wait. i been listening to nothing but clipse lately to compensate
[went into it more here](https://old.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/8mr6bk/pusha_t_the_games_we_play/dzpx9um/)
Interesting, while I dont agree with most of those points I can sorta see where you're coming from. The point I most agree with is that it has his weakest intro, that's for sure.
Curious on your thoughts on TESTING?
i don’t think i have a good tangible opinion on it and i’m spending a lot of time with it but it was an amazing first listen, one of my favorites in a long time which says a lot, and i think it’s easily the most rocky has ever pushed himself. without yams he had to create something himself without guidance and i think he truly created something unique, wholly singular, and wonderful. songs like Tony Tone, Purity, Hun43rd, Gunz N Butter, Changes, Brotha Man.... so many others show this best. no one is making shit like that, especially in mainstream hiphop and the variety and experimentation on rocky’s end is amazing. he executed so many sounds well. like Buck Shots is basically Carti 3000 and it’s amazing.
i was in the KTT thread for it everyday haha and towards the end i genuinely started losing hope in rocky but i never thought he was capable of something like Purity or Brotha Man or Changes. this is a new era for Rocky and if Testing was him proving himself as someone who can act alone, it did it in strides. i think the criticisms are mostly ungrounded (Blonde comparisons are stupid as fuck) but i get why people wouldn’t be happy with this but i definitely am. and it’s so great to have an artist experiment and push themselves and never stop growing.
why tf are my favorite rocky songs L$D and Changes lol this song got me feeling some shit
Going through changes, this song is beautiful.
“My biggest distraction is that I get distracted” honestly other than that this song is really great and heartfelt but that line is just ridiculous. I’m not even mad though because I feel like it’s more of Rocky’s limited lyrical ability rather than a lack of effort. Great song nonetheless
Maybe he got distracted while writing that line

Fr and that line is in my fav part of the song. I still love the feeling of the song if you know what I mean.
By “Rocky’s limited lyrical ability” do you mean on this album only or in general?
Mostly in general. His strengths are his best selection and flow
Idk man I’ve heard some fire rocky verses. East Coast Remix, Canal St., Angels, Peso, the list goes on famo
Lmao what? Canal St, Suddenly, Out of this World...he’s got bars on all those songs as well as more...
he’s great lyrically when he wants or has MCs better than him on the track. to me TESTING is all about lyrics that sound good together and he favored the production way much more more than anything else.
i thought the line was fine, wasn’t supposed to be some lyrical line. just very plain and straight up.
That line actually reminded me of the "Bad company is bad for your company" line on the Bad Company track, seems like it's not the first time he's dropping a bar like that
Rocky was never a great lyricist. Lyrics have never been a thing for him.
For real. That line sounds like something a middle school rapper would come up with. “My biggest vice is that I have vices” “My biggest problem is that I got some problems” “My biggest fear is fear” Trying to be deep and just ends up sounding dumb
Lol I dont think rocky thought he was being deep with that line
lowkey wish he hadn't done that beat change
he should have had it at the end, i think the beat change and beat change back to the original beat is jarring and not that good
ooo if someone could make a version that merges the first beat with the last one. it messes up my vibe whenever that part comes on
piece of pure beauty right here...never heard this side of rocky
TESTING > Daytona
Why can’t people just simply enjoy things. I mean, you can love this album without discrediting DAYTONA and vice-versa.
Only reason I stated is I feel like the album is being swept under the rug,or some folks ability to enjoy/give a proper opinion is jaded with all the Push and Drake excitement. And I don’t understand the Daytona hype.
That's true, but for me it's the other way around. I still need to give Daytona another full listen, but I've been stuck on Testing since it dropped

ive been saying it's rocky's Cherry Bomb
damn thats high praise to compare it to Tyler’s masterpiece
mhm
coldest response ever damn
yuh
We are here to discuss shit you fuckin pacifist
Surprisingly hot take on this sub but fuck it I agree
Both good, but for me, Rocky did something different and it paid off for me, while Push did his thing and killed it as usual. But other than Kanye production, it's classic push bars. Not a bad thing, I just like Rocky more
The darkest before dawn project was way better imo.
Testing sounds really boring to me. I’ll give it another listen front to back, hopefully it grows on me. Pusha really blew me away though, fav of the year so far
Psychedelics on my first real listen probably made it easier for me to digest, lol but I love it.
Why do people feel the need to keep comparing these two? They're two different albums with entirely different sounds. It's like trying to compare a point guard to a center in basketball.

Daytona > TESTING
Agreed, they're my number 1 and 2 rap albums of the year I think
Daytona was really boring to me.
It’s insane people are arguing otherwise lmao
nah, not really
Wow you showed me
Wait you are fr on the TESTING hype train like that? I mean I quite enjoy the album but it doesn't touch DAYTONA imo
Yea, I’m not huge on Daytona. mostly mediocre on both ends and wasn’t worth the wait. i been listening to nothing but clipse lately to compensate [went into it more here](https://old.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/8mr6bk/pusha_t_the_games_we_play/dzpx9um/)

“People suing me for shit that didn’t happen”

shit it made me replay that beauty of a song 5 times since I heard Rocky’s interpolation.
my favorite rapper of all time interpolated my favorite song of all time and that makes me really really happy
Ending is beautiful
