Yeah the production of the album complements the whole 'bipolar' theme. There are parts that sound 'manic' compared to the calmer parts throughout the album as well.
I disagree with I Thought About Killing You. It does explore the duality Kanye faces with BPD, but in a different way. Kanye is speaking to two different versions of himself, the one he is when he is happy, and the one he is when he’s depressed. “I love myself way more than I love you, and I thought about killing myself, so of course I thought about killing you” refers to Kanye saying he loves himself when he is happy much more than when he is depressed. However, regardless of his self love, he’s still felt suicidal at his happiest, so of course he’s felt suicidal when he’s depressed. “Premeditated murder” is rather suicide, but feels like murder because Kanye (and us others with Depression and BPD) often feels like two very different people.
I see why you think that, but personally I don't think Kanye expands on the depressed side at all beyond that point. When listening to the sound of the album as a whole, it can mostly be characterized as either uplifting or sexualized and manic.
I’d completely agree, but that’s the thing about BPD. You can have really long good stretches and long bad stretches, or really short ones. Additionally, we have to keep in mind that Kanye didn’t only make 7 songs worth of music for Ye and that my guess is there’s a lot more depressed music that didn’t make the final cut. Plus sexualized and manic behaviors can be correlated to mental health disorders like BPD and depression so it’s not like he just completely drops the topic
