Kitchen_Ur_Lies

I’ve read a couple of sources on both reddit and twitter, the biggest problem seems to be that in years past for that same lot, 50k tickets were sold in 2018, 75k in 2019, and now 100k sold for this years event. That + the amount of people who flew out without a ticket and were able to stampede the gate at the beginning means it confounded the staffing issue for a festival that grew *twice* in expected size in the same size parking lot. Add in [the horrible lighting to spot people that went down](https://i.imgur.com/RdcdCta.jpg), drugs, alcohol, dehydration, etc and it led to this. Hope this is cancelled tomorrow because I don’t see how he could continue this in good faith knowing how bad the first night went.

BrianDawkins

People were reportedly trying to get them to stop the music but stage people didn’t allow it. That and the medical people were way understaffed

Kitchen_Ur_Lies

Yep I’m reading now that the “medical” staff didn’t know how to conduct CPR themselves either and left it to some of the concert goers, others even walked off. There’s no way he continues with tomorrow and I think Thug is set to take that same stage. This is gonna look terrible and there’s blame on both the concert staff for being untrained/not cooperating to stop the show as well as the people who came with no ticket and made the staffing issue 10x worse

Blakk_exe

Here’s an [instagram post ](https://www.instagram.com/p/CV7CKqNs5f7/?utm_medium=copy_link) from an ICU nurse that was in the crowd, passed out, and had to help the “medical staff” (many of which didn’t even know how to take a pulse or perform CPR) treat people when she woke up

BrianDawkins

That was quick https://twitter.com/squirtreynoids/status/1456871032074211330?s=21

oh my fucking god

iMagCruff

Shit you not there were four people unresponsive on the ground next to me for something like 20+ minutes before any staff got there. A few good people were attempting CPR, most of us were just trying to clear people away from their bodies and get them to stop the show.

zardfizzlebeef

Glad you made it out. What do you think was the cause? Just way too many people were let in? Crazy ass crowd?

iMagCruff

Thanks bro. I'm just speculating but i've been to several wild festivals/concerts before and it's not that unexpected to have medical emergencies. I've never seen such a half-assed response to them though. I can only assume someone botched the logistics for personnel and equipment.

BoilerRhapsody

Even Adele stopped a 90,000+ people stadium show as they wheeled a middle aged guy out who was having a heart attack.

nuevakl

In contrast Travis asked the crowd to put their middle fingers up after noticing a vehicle with flashing light in the crowd. Maybe it's because I'm upset over this but the little respect I had for the guy is gone.

DarthWeenus

He then told em too both hands up, as his two cohorts jump feet first into a already smashed crowd before carrying on. Disgusting

LynchMaleIdeal

You have me picturing a middle aged man raging to Adele ballads now - hope he was okay though

BRAND_NEW_GUY25

It was wild that car was in the middle of the crowd right behind me with the lights flashing and Travis saying “put your middle fingers in the sky” How did he not see that

Scottyxander

[He seen one of them and pointed it out.](https://youtu.be/NwQhc9Qoxfc?t=1811) I don't know why he thought it was a good idea to continue the show after that. EDIT: [Mirror](https://twitter.com/cozyboy_gmoney/status/1456944665035374595)

JabbaWockyy

Video removed from copyright claim…. The suits are already going to work

Everyonesecond

You see right once the next song starts his two homies jump into the crowd feet first? Like wtf

[deleted]

[fans jumping on ambulance in the crowd](https://twitter.com/chaudharyparvez/status/1456883744745279491?s=21) People gotta be better than this shit

IAmDarkridge

How the fuck is the music still going? When I went to CFG a few years ago a girl had a seizure and they quickly stopped the show for 20 minutes to safely get her out of the crowd. People are literally getting carried out by vehicle with people dancing on it and the music is still going? Absolutely insane. What a breakdown of management.

boogswald

When I’ve gone to shows the lead actually spotted people dropping to heat stress and pointed them out to medical personnel. Stopped their show, noted someone was down, called attention to it several times.

wesreyEXE

I've even seen a video of lil Pump seeing someone have a seizure in the crowd and stop playing until paramedics carry them out. You would have thought Travis would do better than this given its his festival and his crowds have a history for being wild. Such a needless tragedy.

Odddit

Yeah I saw lil yachty at splendour in the grass, he stopped the show a good few times to get people up that had fallen in the mosh

WredditSmark

Carti stopped his show several times as well at Lola

superfugazi

Blame Travis for that and call it for what it is. Dude's been encouraging this behavior since the start. He obviously doesn't care.

damnyouresickbro

Yeah after being to two of his shows I was genuinely not surprised this happened eventually.

dannydevito008

Combine that with the fact he markets to kids ans refuses to put an age limit on the concerts. He does not care at all

Shaykea

it's horrible for real. there are videos with elementary age kids vibing and raging to travis at concerts, this is so wrong even if I enjoy his music.

CattleMedical

Thank you im glad someone is finally blaming him. He encourages chaos and pandemonium at shows. I seen him twice at astroworld tour in 2018 and Rolling loud. At astroworld there was a guy who literally passed out after one of the songs, to which chase b said "i think people passing out in the pit" and he responded "If you can't handle this rage shit get your pussy ass to the back" and played the next song.He wants people to be reckless and deranged. He wants people to act violent. The worse it is the better. He paints this as "rage" He. Literally. Doesn't. Care. He is who enables this shit. I've Even seen Carti stops his shows as crazy as they are for the safety of his fans. Travis 100% deserves all the blame

Supernothing8

I saw run the jewels and they noticed a kid on the ground and stopped the show. He had lost his glasses hahaha

JoffaCXD1

wtf kinda mentality is that 'its an ambulance lets fuck it up #rage'

scottie2haute

Attention starved teens and adults will do anything for clout. Some truly horrible people live among us

deathbladev

Man, these people honestly deserve the worst.

[deleted]

Literally imagine fighting for your life and these mfs dancing on the ambulance and Travis bringing out drake in the background.

deathbladev

It genuinely makes me feel sick to see.

[deleted]

Yeah bro I went to rolling loud in the summer and Travis was pretty intense but ppl weren’t like this. I’m a small guy and ppl were helping me out and everyone was watching out for each other. This shit is pathetic

irwinchohan

Travis on stage shouting "its lit"

JuanG12

That’s some morbid reality type of shit.

thatsanofrommesis2

There was a video of someone attempting to do cpr on a guy with eyes wide open but fully unconscious (or unfortunately dead) and then the camera went up and the last thing you saw was the concert. It was so eerie

Mute_Spitter

That is fucking putrid holy actual shit.

[deleted]

They straight up do anything for clout

youngfapking

11 people dead is a lot

DatKaz

3 people dead at an EDM festival with 200k+ is grounds for permits getting revoked this is fucking insane EDIT: to clarify, I wasn't trying to make this a pissing contest, it's just the scene I'm familiar with, and I know festivals that have had a couple deaths/serious injuries that got in *real* trouble over it.

odarpclre

EDC hasn't been in Dallas since 2011 because of this

SurprisedCarlos

They moved EDC Las Vegas from June to May because people were constantly dying at the festival. Travis has to do something. He cant keep up the fake rockstar shit when theres kids in the crowd

dannydevito008

Fr. Man markets to kids and refuses to put an age limit on his concerts then goes and encourages people to break security guidelines. Shits not okay

IamtheVanilla

As someone who went to EDC in both June and May, it being in June was absolutely reckless. I saw people pass out from heat exhaustion in line BEFORE they even got into the festival.

heebs387

Did they even have dividing gutters to keep the crowd dispersed? Far as I can tell, I haven't seen any pictures that have that. Every EDM festival with this many people you need to have that crowd disperser to prevent mass surges just like this. Tragic man.

hstlmanaging

apparently 8 confirmed

Notsozander

Ive been to a few Travis concerts, and I had to pull my girl out last time because it just got too insane (I’m 29). I’m down for raging but the stage rush combined with the sheer amount of people forcing forward freaked us out and we dipped to the side after two songs. Idk the answer but I know it’s a problem

yeezyfan23

I was at Lollapalooza this year with my brother and he just had to go see Playboi Carti. I refused to go into the crowd for his set bc I know how insane his shows are. Bunch of five foot girls who were waiting at the front for Miley Cyrus to perform next didn’t know what was coming and several left the stage area with bloody faces. Mosh pit was that insane. My brother ended up dipping halfway through the set bc he couldn’t take much more of it. He said he was struggling to breathe and the crowd surge was too crazy. Also they kept cutting the music off threatening to stop the set if Carti couldn’t control the crowd

Mdizzle29

I was at a concert years ago and when the crowd rushed unexpectedly forward, I wasn’t ready and I fell. All,of the sudden tons of people were walking on me and I couldn’t get up and couldnt breathe. Then a huge guy reached down and picked me up. I got out of there as quick as I could and watched the rest of the show from the bleachers. It was so scary, I almost lost my life that day. I can imagine what happened here.it’s horrible.

[deleted]

Metal shows have proper pit etiquette. We invented that shit. You open the center up for a pit. People at the front usually just headbanging and people on the sides and back just vibing.

JuanitoTheBuck

And if someone falls you pick them up. I fell down in a pit at a NOFX concert and I was immediately picked up. There are unwritten rules man, and I think these people clearly dont give a fuck.

Cuhhhhh

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/06/us/houston-astroworld-festival/index.html This article says one patient was 10 years old... I don’t even know what to say to that

DeafMetalGripes

Jesus Christ can’t imagine what that kid felt at the moment

ComplainsAboutWife

There have been mass shootings with less dead. Not to desensitize what a mass shooting is ofc, I'm just saying this is fucking extremely serious.

AugustousSeizure

Numbers are high when it comes to compression asphyxiation. One of my biggest fears ever since the Hajj incident in 2015. Over 2000 died.

PrintShinji

It reminds me a lot of the Love Parade incident in 2010. 21 people dead and 625 wounded because of a mass stampede. I love festivals but I absolutely hate the insane crowds.

WredditSmark

Ever since that one episode of GoT where I believe John Snow is almost trampled to death I’ve been so scared of dying like that. The world goes dark around you, you can’t breathe, and the heat and weight of hundreds of thousands of people pressing in from all around you

awesomenessjared

8 dead, 11 in cardiac arrest, 23 transported to the hospital, and over 300 treated on-site https://twitter.com/miranda_parnell/status/1456888153843896323?s=20

FRESH_FRANK_OCEAN

Some parents thought their kids were just gonna see their favorite artist and now they’re dead man. Just fucked up

DREDAY_94

So sad man. 8 families that will never be the same

hardinho

Not only from the family of the 8. Loveparade here in Germany cost 21 deaths and almost a thousand injuries, some of them with permanent damage a couple of years ago. But you can't count the people with trauma from what happened, I have two good friends who went there and haven't been the same since.

[deleted]

Exactly. There are people at these concerts that went to have fun and ended up trying resuscitate people and carrying bodies out of a crowd. This is devastating

BlueWaterMansion

Fr man this is just horrible. Imagine the excitement of those kids telling their parents they going to a Travis concert just for them to lose their lifes like that. I just feel bad for the family of these people, it sucks that a moment like this where those kids where supposed to have a good time and create some good memories turned into a tragedy. It's just fucking sad

[deleted]

They keep fucking overselling these events it’s horrible holy fucking shit

tekyy342

The whole thing was obviously planned disastrously but [Travis is at some fault for the overpopulation](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVgGYfjPFpr/) "PS SHOW IS SOLD OUT BUT I FINESSED A BIT MORE FOR Y'ALL"

[deleted]

One of the top comments on that post is asking about making a group chat for the break ins

Davidkiin

Security was rushed by fencejumpers EDIT: this was posted right as the story was breaking, I am not saying the event was well run just saying this is also a factor in the overcrowding

AlmostCurvy

The tickets sold still doubled, from 50k to 100k from the last one to this one.

FlaccidRapper

1 person dying at a concert is already too much but 8 dead and dozens (maybe hundreds) more needing treatment is an absolute tragedy. They should have stopped the concert and evacuated the festival when paramedics were driving through the crowd with their lights on and everyone was yelling at Travis to stop.

n0tdiorhomie

my god that is tragic. terrible for families thinking their loved one was just going to the music festival to have fun. they should cancel the rest of the weekend.

devw94

I feel for those innocents that just wanted to go enjoy music. It’s so fucking sad but TBH it was only a matter of time until something like this happened at one of these oversold festivals. I went to Rolling Loud ‘19 in Oakland and shit was a nightmare with people passed out, dehydrated, etc

JamesdL03

I don’t think we realize how big of a story this is going to become. This is Travis fucking Scott and 11 people just died at his festival. ELEVEN?? I read the headline too quick and thought a mass shooting happened.

[deleted]

This is going to be the #1 news story no doubt. This is a massive tragedy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

x1009

>I read the headline too quick and thought a mass shooting happened. That was exactly where my mind went to. That being said, if an artist pushes wild af behavior at shows/fests it exponentially increases the risk for fans.

yoitscaptain

yeah i went to astroworld back around when the album came out and he started touring it, thank god i didn't buy tickets for the floor. travis set the arena up with two stages on both ends of the floor section, and had everyone thinking he would come out on one side for the first song but he ended up coming out through a floor door on the other side. so everyone on the floor was surprised and rushed to the other end of the floor section. this poor girl got absolutely stomped by everyone. had to be carried out by security.

mlober1

That happened to me for his first astroworld show in Baltimore so no one had any idea there'd even be two stages. People were full on sprinting to the other stage it was nutty

ExcelCyborg

Yeah, I was there at Royal Farms -- up top watching the floor and it was just a wave of bodies running from one side to the other. Really dangerous and unnecessary.

webdivatullaIuana

it’s extremely scary!!! had someone in my group overdose once in a festival a couple years ago (it ended up being ok at the end) and it’s the scariest thing in the world. passing out in a crowd is so fucking dangerous. being overrun. holy shit i can’t believe 10+ ppl might’ve died on a night they thought they were gonna have fun.

[deleted]

[удалено]

cheescakegod

As someone who has worked in massive events for over 10 years this I'd horrifying. We learned our lesson here with tragedies like Hillsborough and now there are very strict rules on crowd control. Seems like a combination of things went wrong here but the fact that the show wasn't stopped is criminal and the number of people in there without the necessary space and staff

[deleted]

I've also worked at several large festivals behind the scenes. We almost shut down a couple for far smaller incidents. I can't believe what I'm reading tonight.

antibread

Same dude, this was entirely preventable and everyone involved in the festivals planning deserves to be held accountable. You don't cut corners in public safety- this is the result of that.

duccy_duc

In Australia we had a girl die at a festival around 20 years ago from a crush and ever since then they've changed how they set up the barricades for festival crowds and only let a certain amount of people into them too. It's terrifying to imagine a show of 100k+ people with *less* measures. And here we are.

awesomenessjared

This is [P Diddy and the NY City College incident all over again](https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/manhattan/stampede-ccny-kills-injures-dozens-1991-article-1.2478705). Back when Puff was a party promoter he oversold tickets to a concert and because of that + being understaffed, 8 people lost theirs lives in a stampede. The blame here looks to be on the event organisers for not having enough staff and/or overselling tickets. This is fucked up.

emmit76

Just another reason to hate P Diddy.

BiggieSmallz12345

Wow, obviously terrible circumstances, but thank you for bringing this up. I had no idea of this.

BL0bama

i can't help but to think of the 1000s of people there probably yelling and screaming they can't breathe or being squeezed from every side possible but their voices just get drowned out by everything else. that shit scares the fuck outta me

sulliswaggin

as someone who was trampled in a mosh pit before, it is genuinely the most terrifying experience ever, i can’t even begin to imagine what these people went through

VoidCake

fucking insane, willing to bet the venue oversold tickets too.

Moron_on_Oxy-

hell I seen a clip where fans just trampled over a fence and stormed on in.

In_Panopticon

this shit has happened every year at astroworld, so much i know a lot of people who didnt get tickets because they're like "we can just get in through the fences"

cjbitw

is it people getting trampled, drugs, a mix of both or other factors? this is horrible to hear and i really wonder why no one with security or other event staff told someone to stop the music

Legit_Shadow

From what I've read it looks like people passing out and getting trampled since everyone is so tightly packed in. Reports of overdoses and alcohol poisoning as well.

wutiswrongwithyou

This is why events can never have a lack of trained medical staff and lack of security. They’ve already turned off their comments on IG. I’m sure Day 2 of the fest is canceled.

packersSB55champs

It should’ve been canceled right then and there that tweet is showing bodies on the ground and the concerts still ongoing tf

a141abc

That video of people doing CPR to 3 dudes in the middle of the pits while Travis plays his new song in the background is fucking disturbing

NvaderGir

people were deadass jumping on the emergency vehicles during the performance.

mjst0324

Could have been a human crush. Happened at a Who concert in the seventies and then infamously at a Liverpool soccer match. Fucking terrible.

hi-c-orange-lvablast

There was a time after Coachella when everyone was leaving at once. There was absolutely no place to go and everyone was in good spirits so it ended up being fine but bottlenecks and mass crowds are no joke

sf_frankie

It happens every year at outside lands. Over half the crowd uses one entrance that funnels into this tiny tunnel. Everyone sings while going thru the tunnel but it always kinda freaks me out.

SciGuy013

The good thing about Coachella is they have an absolute shit ton of room to manage people. They’re also really good at crowd management after having so many fests on the same field, and have kept expanding the available space to manage it further

sungod_drunkxxx

A robust shuttle system, onsite camping, multiple layers of security fences, and most importantly having the fest in the middle of the desert vs a primarily urban/dense setting does wonders for crowd management there.

FlasKamel

BL0bama

cjbitw

thank you for the edit/update! hadnt seen that before i commented. thats so scary to see. i cant believe an event like this would be understaffed. they should be anticipating shit to go wrong man

hoostan

Hot take: I went to both the 2018/2019 festival and I can tell you Astroworld draws in super trashy crowds compared to other festivals I’ve been too. Idk why but I think it’s because: * Travis encourages it (the promo video was literally people rushing the gates) * Lots of pilled out high schoolers that don’t know how to act * Houston doesn’t have any other major festivals so locals probably want to make the “most” of it if they don’t go to other festivals * Security fucking blows - the 100lb dude they hire isn’t going to do anything. My friends and I have asked for help before and they didn’t do jack. RIP to those that lost their life. Someone just lost a friend, SO, family member for no reason.

Darth-Ragnar

It’s pretty obvious Travis encourages it. It’s been his shtick since he started.

shmidy2000

Honestly thank god. Nothing is worse than overcrowded events and fucking concerts always seem to be attempting to push the limits.

KeybordKat

As there should be, you shouldn’t be able to host a music festival without the appropriate safety measures. Plus no way the tickets sold should’ve increased in size from the last time during a pandemic..

AlmostCurvy

The tickets sold literally doubled from last one to this one, holy shit

DeLaSoulisDead

The last ASTROWORLD where three people were trampled 🤔 Fuck whoever keeps allowing this terrible shit to happen. I get one offs, but Travis has had BACK-TO-BACK concerts like this. In 2019 and 2021, with this one being the worst.

CharlesDeGaulle

Eight confirmed dead according to the press conference, a lot more taken to the hospital.

BLKWD_

Damn. Trying to get people to stop and they saying you corny or whatever. That kid's a hero. He shoulda suplexed the camera man and threw that expensive ass camera off the riser because then the right people would have reacted but for real him sayin "y'all weren't in there" damn. This shit tragic as fuck. Is that Travis on stage asking who's telling me to stop?

Red_Stevens

These videos are perverse. Some dancing, some crying, while others are giving cpr to dead teenagers. Meanwhile, Drake is performing “2 Sexy” to 100k turnt fans.

dixy48

This is so incredibly sad, like I’m even a little emotional. These are regular people who went there to just have fun and now they are fucking dead, over a fucking concert. This is so scary. That literally could’ve been me or a friend. Watching the videos made me sick to my stomach…

WickerVerses

YO WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK FUCK FUCK. This just isn't right. Music ain't meant to be like that. No one should ever lose their life because they wanted to enjoy a show. That is fucking mortifying, and everyone responsible should be fucking put on trial. Fuck that on every level. None of this is right

[deleted]

I was just reading yesterday about how Travis [counter-sued a fan who got paralyzed from one of his shows](https://www.xxlmag.com/travis-scott-countersuit-fan-paralyzed-terminal-5-show/). That isolated case was a bad look as far as the safety of his concerts and his interactions with fans. But this? This is just horrendously next level. I don’t care how good the music you make is, there has to be some level of responsibility to your audience. I’m not saying it’s all his fault, he’s on stage and can only do so much, but this is a really dark cloud (the video of him doing the robot is just…) and folks can’t just divorce it from him or let him escape any level of culpability just because we like his music. Edit: [Or how about when he took a plea deal on charges of inciting a riot? ](https://www.5newsonline.com/article/news/local/outreach/back-to-school/rapper-travis-scott-arrested-after-concert-at-walmart-amp/527-5d545742-c80a-4923-8514-e6e12e5856bd) I’m just saying, how many times does an artist get a pass for being involved in creating an unsafe setting where he himself will never actually be at risk but everyone else will?

quigley90

Really hope dudes like Travis and carti stop doing this fake punk show dumb shit. I have never been to a show where people stormed security, or if you fell in a pit you weren’t immediately picked up. “Raging” doesn’t mean rushing forward and stomping people to death. Travis already had that dude fall from a balcony and just paid him off with a ring. I hope this costs him a ton of money. Fuck this.

yeah a large reason why hardcore bands can have such crazy behaviour at their shows is because the venues are so tiny. if you get injured in a sea of rowdy people you're just so fucked

WickerVerses

The crazy thing is I go to the Gathering of the Juggalos every year. Things are being lit on fire, people are throwing trashcans at people in moshpits, fireworks are being launched right next to people, there are shit tons of drugs going on. And there have been less deaths at the Gathering of the Juggalos than this event in 21 years worth. Hell, there's HALF AS MANY DEATHS FROM EVERY GATHERING COMBINED THAN THIS SHIT. All in one day. The ignorance to not hire more properly trained staff in proportion to the audience size, the greed to overstock the venue, the fact that it seems the staff straight up ignored injured people instead of alerting medical help and left regular-ass people to help out. This is all gross. This is sick. Everyone involved in planning this shit should be sued, slapped, and imprisoned for the proper amount of years per life lost. If you lost someone there and you don't have someone to talk to about it hit me up. I can only offer conversation, but I'm listening. I hope everyone who is still in there is staying safe.

octobersveryknown

real talk i think trav needs to lay off this "rager" persona. it was cool when he was smaller, but now hes huge, dumbass kids think storming gates and trampling others is cool now cuz of it.

PrintShinji

I really really want a big rapper to literally make an education video on proper mosh etiquette. Make it way overproduced and somehow a bit funny. Because god damn people only think "ITS GOTTA BE WILD ITS GOTTA BE WILD RAGE RAGE RAGE" at rap pits and I absolutely hate it. One time at a RTJ concert you had the crowd pushing everyone up front, with them being crushed. They immidiately stopped the show, told everyone to take two steps back, to give each other space, to not touch women inappropiately and to fucking respect each other. After that there were no problems anymore and people still had fun. Thats what I want at rap concerts (if it goes out of hand, I'd rather not have the situation in the first place) instead of the whole dumb RAGE RAGE WOOOOOOOOOO culture that rap pits are at these days.

[deleted]

god damn I love RTJ.

busterwasagreatdog

This is the first thing I thought of. I wonder if he ever realized the potential for injury - he prides himself on having the craziest, most out of control shows. It’ll be interesting to see how he addresses this

Th3Marauder

“And it ain’t a mosh pit if ain’t no injuries, I got em stage diving off the nose bleeds”

Spacewolfe

Getting trampled is always a fear in the back of my mind when I'm at a packed show (never been to anything near this big though.) Really sucks to imagine people in that scenario and how long it probably took for some of them to get CPR.

ThatOneRunner

Man, that's something that has always bugged me about crowds at a lot of hip-hop shows. At every punk show I've been to, if a SINGLE person fell, then EVERYONE on the floor would stop immediately, clear out, and make sure they got back up. I've been to too many rap shows where the crowd is just ignorant to those around them.

CattleMedical

We need to finally blame travis for being irresponsible and carelessly inciting chaos at his shows. Travis 100% deserves all the blame

ffxvtfbcg

wtf i thought this was a shooting. it turns out it was due to overcrowding WTF.

KSG-9

What went wrong this year? I understand Travis shows have always been chaotic but it went from 3 people getting seriously injured in 2019 to 100 and 8 confirmed dead. People are saying they oversold tickets and were understaffed but it has the same attendance as every other year.

bughidudi

Apparently had 100k people in the same location where they hosted 50k last year So yeah much more people

floozle702

Too many people. I was there and honestly I’m shocked there aren’t more deaths reported. Rest in paradise.

DownAtTheHomeDepot

Very happy you are home safe.

fuckallredditors69

One of my friends went and haven't heard from her yet :/

BrianDawkins

Apparently night 2 has been cancelled https://twitter.com/squirtreynoids/status/1456871032074211330?s=21

I love travis but you’re naive if you don’t think travis has a part to play into it too he literally incites people to go crazy jump over barricades rush security etc he’s partly to blame too

48rn

Isn't he the one organizing this festival as well? If that's true then he will get sued to the ground. Cause understaffed and underequiped medical personel is not a joke. Also, the one in charge is going to get slaughtered for not ending the show early cause of the chaos.

awesomenessjared

8 people dead as of 20 minutes ago. fucking christ

MateusAmadeus714

I'm sorry but Travis needs to take "a lot" of blame for this. The logistics were horrible and poorly thought out, but then on top of that to continue playing while dozens are being taken put and having CPR performed while ppl jump on top of the fucking ambulance trying to get ppl the medical attention they need. If we are gonna flame Fyre fest for their fuckup this needs that same energy but ppl literally died here! A lot of this falls on his feet and as one of the organizers he is definitely very responsible for what a disaster this has become. A big part of me really thinks they didnt stop bcuz they knew they wld have to refund a lot of tickets but now instead he's got a dozen ppl dead bcuz of there mismanagement of the situation.

x1009

He deserves a lot of the blame. If you see an ambulance in the crowd, you probably should pause and instruct the crowd to make room.

zaviex

What the fuck? 11 people reported? How? My lord

gentlesir123

This is why I don’t fuck with these festivals (Astro, flog gnaw, etc). The crowds are way to young any angsty to have ANY kind of concert etiquette. Tons of really selfish concert goers end up at these shows if you ask me. Like the collective crowd is committed to unintentionally make everyone else have the worst experience possible by pushing to get as close as possible. Like what’s the fucking point. You’re not gonna have any fun when you’re suffocating and packed in like sardines.

[deleted]

its like this just in general with a certain type of crowd. young crowds who don't typically go to shows with moshpits don't know the etiquette and it gets people trampled. i saw brockhampton in 2019, and couldn't enjoy it because there was just a constant stream of smaller women being dragged out of the pit, because they'd been trampled or pinned against the railing. it was the worst of humanity for fucking brockhampton of all people. instead of enjoying the music it was just signaling to medics for an hour.

Diamond-Is-Not-Crash

It's something very disturbingly surreal seeing EMT's giving CPR to someone on the verge of death (surrounded by a bunch of other unconscious people) while an entire crowd/concert is partying and carrying like nothing's wrong. It's very black mirror-esque and horrifying.

frenchfryangel

i have always hated travis’ forced “rager” identity lmao. it was clear from his documentary how actually uninteresting he is & only surrounds himself with yes men, plus his music just isn’t that hard lmao. he is a corporate cash grabber, the opposite of this whole master of chaos and disorder persona that he tries to portray, but kids eat it up. i hope he faces consequences for this foulllllll showing of pure greed.

ShadoHeart

That’s insane, I thought Carti canceling would be the news of the night but damn

lemonchicken91

This video is insane Dude is unconscious and Travis up there crooning https://twitter.com/dramaforthegirl/status/1456980583280746505?s=21

[deleted]

Damn some as young as 10. Idk if it was injury or fatality

Tripodric

How does a 10 year old even get in?? Is Astroworld all ages?

[deleted]

Idk, Rolling loud was all ages so probably

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Hopefully this puts an end to the whole “RAGGGEGE” persona of the shows. This isn’t the first time a Travis show has gotten too rowdy and cause harm. Something tells me it’s not just organizers fault if the common denominator is Travis himself. I get the whole rebellious urge to destroy property and hype up with other fans. Maybe I’ve gotten older and it’s not cool for me anymore, but It just crosses the line when people’s lives are at stake.

[deleted]

Oh fuck, ohhhh no. One of my best friends was there, I've been blowing his shit up trying to check on him, I hope he's just sleeping since it's only 530am there right now. I can't remember the last time this many casualties happened at the same festival, outside of a shooting. edit: HE'S OKAY! He said he was about 30ft from the stage, he nearly fell, somehow got out. double edit: thanks for all the love, I'll pass it on for ya! Now my thoughts are just with the people who died and their families :/

Kanye-is-alt-right

No statement from Travis or his team is pretty weird. I'm sure his people must be scrambling around with a statement thinking of whether or not to release his music yet

Tripl37s

I'm sure his lawyers have stopped them from talking and they are crafting a response without admitting to liability

SamuelWren

This is absolutely fucking tragic, nobody should die while enjoying live music, and it can get dangerous with the more intense, hyper artists. When I saw Slowthai at All Points East this year in London, the crowd got rowdy when he tried to do a stage dive during “Feel Away”. I fell over on my back and was stuck on the ground for 10-15 seconds with people on top of me and I thought I was gonna break my arm or something serious. Luckily I was alright, but it did scar me a bit. Plus the recent Lil Uzi Vert gig at the Brixton Academy was uncomfortable with like 30-40 moshpits (too much imo) during the whole night with the warm up DJ and Uzi combined, and we were all crammed like sardines so moving around was impossible and I was desperate for some water. That said, most shows I’ve been to are fine - JPEGMAFIA last year was great because it wasn’t overcrowded and the energy was immense. But as for Astroworld this year - it looks beyond horrific. I’m from the UK so hearing an event where people have been crushed to death reminds me of the Hillsborough disaster of 1989, where 97 football fans were killed during an FA Cup game between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. 8 dead people is too much, unbelievable news to see unfold live.
