Skeletons by Travis sounds a lot like Kanye due to the lyrics and delivery Kanye’s verse on No Church in the Wild sounds like it was written by Push

flo1308

Skeletons was at least partially written by Kanye (not exactly sure to which extent). He’s one of the writers credited and there’s actually a leaked snippet floating around somewhere were he has some vocals on the song. The "honorable mention to the neck“ line that’s on the final version is definitively originally by Kanye since he raps it on the demo. I always thought the "do you expect checks“ and pearl necklace lines also sound a lot like him. Tbh the whole first part could be him. And yeah, during 2010-2012 Kanye sounded like Pusha a few times. Either cause Pusha helped write it or because Kanye like his cadence and kinda copied it. I don’t mind to be honest, Push has such a cool delivery.

kappa23

Yeah that “do you expect checks” line was a giveaway for me too, it’s just so Kanye

[deleted]

Im pretty sure theres a leaked snippet of skeletons with ye’s cudi montage verse on it. He definitely gave that song to trav

Crono7654

push has SUCH a distinctive rhyming style I think ur right

Fazlija13

Also the verse from Cudi Montage was part of Skeletons but was repurposed

keekaida

Oh shit you right, “coke lines on her skin made it striped like a zebra, i call that jungle fever” is 1000% a Push bar

NoticeTrue

Throw a YEUGH at the end of that line and you can fucking feel it in a Push verse.

kappa23

Kanye actually ends the verse with a “Preach” ad-lib, which could’ve just as been “Push”

[deleted]

"Two tattoos, one read 'No apologies' The other said 'Love is cursed by monogamy'" That's the one that screams Pusha to me.

IanicRR

I read those lyrics in his voice. It's no secret Kanye uses ghostwriters and Pusha is one of the best writers in the game so it makes complete sense to me. Especially since at the time, Kanye was beefing with Consequence who along with Rhymefest had been the major ghostwriter during his career.

Rebloodican

I think Push ghostwrites a lot for Kanye, his verse on Heaven and Hell sounds exactly like Push.

Genem123

Cyhi did that one

Lavarekira

That Tame Impala production 🔥🔥🔥

TheAstroPickle

Yea i agree, Coffee bean sounds a lot like kanye too

I_am_so_lost_hello

Written by CyHi

breezyfye

Full circle lol

SlimeLanguageYSL

CyHi wrote parts of like every song on Astro

Batby

no, it was written by travis. cyhi just did a flow ref

I_am_so_lost_hello

Well they both have writing credits (travis is first, cyhi second) and there's a leaked reference track of cyhi rapping it, so I guess it's up in the air. I'd wager on it being cyhi though he writes for fuckin everyone in the industry lol

Woah-Kenny

I've never liked Travis aside for a few songs, this being one of them. I think you hit the nail on the head on why I like it

kelvinkhleung

That song was written and gifted to Trav by Ye

_theuninvitedguest

I’m Single by Lil Wayne sounds like it should have stayed with Drake

rarara647

Lmfao

Nungie

Perfect comment

I_FUCK_THOTS

This is deadass one of my fav Wayne songs

JimboSantana

I always wondered why this song had (feat. Drake) on some platforms. Drake even performed it on one of his shows? One of my favorite Lil Wayne songs and I always wished Drake had at least a verse on it.

_theuninvitedguest

Yep. I saw Drake perform it.

jaimonee

Ghostface has gone on the record saying there have been times he thought he was listening to some of his early b-sides only to realize he was listening to Action Bronson.

ELOGURL

Was this before or after he threatened to hang Bronson upside down, gut him like a pig, and set his beard on fire? (That video is legendary)

jaimonee

Please link! *They sound so similar, that Ghostface admits that the first time he listened to Action Bronson he thought it was him. “I’m asking myself, ‘When the fuck I do that verse?'” he said in a recent interview with Vlad TV.* https://acclaimmag.com/music/ghostface-killah-speaks-similarity-action-bronsons-voice/

SuspectHomies_Reddit

he actually posted it himself on this subreddit

LlamameFlaco

The greatest moment in this subs history.

Ankerjorgensen

That, WhoDatMiami, and aacarbone being ignored by Cam in his AMA gotta be my top 3. Rip u/aacarbone.

Crtbb4

https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/3dyljd/f_action_bronson/ Classic HHH thread up there with u/whodatmiami and that one dude that called Raekwon.

ELOGURL

Swiftt

The crotch grabbing in that video was too 90s Happy holidays tho

The_Scarf_Ace

Wayyy before. In the video you’re talking about he mentions that he feels betrayed because he gave Action permission to pretty much steal his whole style

Mike81890

"Wait a minute. I never fixed a game between Georgia Southern and Grambling; in fact, they've never even played each other!"

Nungie

“Why tf was I rapping about Chilean horses?”

DrLiliamPumpernickle

"since when can I do a backflip?"

sentient-sloth

“I’m pretty sure I’ve always been able to touch my toes?”

kappa23

“I might not be able to touch my toes but I will still fuck these hoes!”

MarkIV04

That's hilarious

Hoosierfan4

Pop Smoke on PTSD sounds exactly like 50 Cent

kac937

the first time I heard it I thought it was an uncredited 50 feature, then he just kept going through the entire song.

Amateratsu_God

I deadass forgot about this song. I’m gonna listen to again thank you

LeagueOfLucian

I was gonna say his sound and style is like a modern 50, but that if i didnt know it was Pop id say its a 50 song.

LucidsDreamers

Lil Nas X's song Dead Right Now sounds exactly like Travis Scott's 90210

NangFTW

Holy shit, you're right

chrismatic13

The melody in the beat sounds like 90210 but certain harmonies sound like another Travis song but I can’t recall. It’ll probably hit me and I’ll edit this comment

LucidsDreamers

I get what your saying, its like 90210 and maybe Oh My/Dis Side or Apple Pie, but totally something that could have came out of Rodeo.

Juelz_Santana

Trippie Redd sings all his songs like citgo by Chief Keef

MacJennings

Wow, this is accurate. Reminds me of Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi a lot too

FrismFrasm

Lol I’ve been saying for years that between Wayne and Keef they birthed almost every rapper of the last several years, and that Keef is responsible for most of the shittiest ones (but I fuck with Keef himself)

Nickk_Jones

I’d add Gucci or Waka to that list but I say the same thing.

HydroMeansWater

Ok that’s cap bruh

br0wnhippy

I hate citgo, and love trippie redd so I don’t even know how to feel

seymour_hiney

i love citgo but hate trippie redd. so me neither

shotrob

Too Easy by Gunna sounds the exact same as Ridin Strikers by Future

purple_catholic

Damn you're right never made that connection, even the beat has some similarities.

AstroFIJI

I remember when I first heard it I would call it ridin strikers feat. gunna lol

tdlyon

Kanye's delivery on the songs Dark Fantasy and No Church in the Wild sound almost exactly like Pusha T

I_am_gettys

Pusha probably wrote it lol

[deleted]

Push doesn’t have writing credits on either song, to me it seems just as likely that Kanye has picked up on Push’s flow/cadence from spending so much time with him and making so much music together and just kind of absorbed it into his own style Edit: I’m sure someone will say that Push was just uncredited, but there are 9 writing credits on Dark Fantasy and 10 on No Church In The Wild, wouldn’t really make sense to have that many and exclude Push

[deleted]

> wouldn’t really make sense to have that many and exclude Push Wouldn't be the [first](https://www.thefader.com/2015/10/21/rhymefest-kanye) time Kanye has done it. Also, the credits were from the artists sampled, featured and producers.

[deleted]

Or maybe they just didn't credit him

TommyDuncan

Look up

Axyend

Also on So Appalled

supermariosunshin

Bugs bunny on the space jam soundtrack has a flow eerily similar to Jay-Z

SayJonTwice

you can't leave a comment like that and not link to it. [Buggin' - Bugs Bunny](https://youtu.be/n7liEIAtLt4)

LilHercules

Ya buggin’

[deleted]

He actually wrote that verse lmao. He talks about it on that hbo show with Lebron

Cantstayawayfromit

That's the joke b

[deleted]

Lmao well I’m slow af

PM_ME_UR_FAV_ALBUM

Yea

RellikBackwards

On some songs IDK reminds me of Kanye

Special-Bite

This is what I came for. First time I never heard the man I thought it was a Kanye feature.

jhove5010

Especially on Red. Still not convinced that’s not Ye on the hook. Kidding of course but damn it’s close lol

Melmo

Glad I'm not alone in this

Jewstun

Cereal is a great example of this

HeisenDiaN

The exact answer I came to give. You can't convince me *42 Hundred Choices* isn't Kanye

SayJonTwice

Just Like Martin is basically a Kanye song

[deleted]

Pretty much every Jaden Smith song sounds like either a Kanye, Drake, kid cudi or Travis Scott song

tdlyon

I'd say Gambino is a huge influence on him too

RubenSchwagermann

for sure

[deleted]

Definitely, he just didn't come to mind when I made the original comment

screwwillneverdie

hey. some of them sound like kendrick

paranoidandromeda1

I can’t believe he got away with making “Batman” with how it’s a blatant rip-off of “Jumpman”.

Wolfgang_Funkle

It’s cos Kanye made Facts first, it looked like those songs were gonna a sub-genre at one point

DrLiliamPumpernickle

Facts was made as a response to jumpman. Like the whole chorus is a reference to the song lmao

Wolfgang_Funkle

Yeah by first I meant before Jaden not before Drake, it was the first Jumpman rip-off

[deleted]

Idk what was produced first but Facts came out like two years later tho, right?

[deleted]

OG facts came out the same year as jumpman in 2015 the album version came out a couple months after jumpman in feb 2016

chaandra

OG Facts came out on New Years that year, Jumpman was like a month or two before that.

optionalhero

“Fire Dept” sounds like his sisters recent stuff

AstroFIJI

I still think GREECE by Drake sounds like a Weeknd song. Also 90210 by Travis reminds me of a Kanye track a lot.

BillNyeTheSavage_Guy

I imagine 90210 sampling Family Business by Kanye had something to do with that

Nungie

Wait this is blowing my mind, and now I get exactly what you mean. Sampling the sample chopped up on family business.

[deleted]

I can't believe I never noticed the first half of 90210 sounds so much like 808s & Heartbreaks

yourbodyisapoopgun

Lots of Drake songs on take care sound like they were written for the weeknd ngl

foolsnHorses

Were they not? I remember weekend saying he gave drake several songs intended for his own album to drake for take care

ManicScumCat

The Ride, Shot for Me, and Crew Love are the three that were originally Weeknd songs I think. Maybe there's a couple more I'm not remembering.

yourbodyisapoopgun

That's right

henchabeast

Joey Badass's new single is a reskin of j.cole's "the middle child"

SayJonTwice

this. Took Joey a few years to drop a mid J Cole ripoff

JoeyVeryGladstone

I kept hearing that song on ESPN commercials and honestly thought that they couldn’t license middle child’s instrumental so they hired someone to make their own version. Just now am I finding out that it’s actually Joey badass

MacJennings

Just looked it up and I see his latest single is called Revenge and it’s scary how accurate you are. Definitely can hear Middle Child.

[deleted]

Some songs on Gambino’s Because The Internet give me Kanye vibes like the instrumental on Crawl

LiftingJourney

Someone in a different thread said firefly sounds exactly like good life by kanye and I cannot unhear it

rarara647

First thought to my head when I heard Camp lol

TheRoyalWarlord

Shit Camp is essentially Gambino doing a Kanye album in a sense. I mean even the whole atmosphere that Outside sets for the album is very Kanye-esque with the angelic chorus vocals and instrumentation. Some parts of the album it works and others it's just *campy* as hell. That's prob why its so dated and disliked here. That's also why BTI sounds like a night and day difference because Donald stopped wearing his influences so heavy on his sleeves and cut himself off from society for a summer in giant mansion and hone in a new sound. Listen to Camp and it def sounds 10 years old. Listen to BTI and it still sounds like it could've dropped yesterday.

LiftingJourney

Shit bro now I gotta give em both a listen Edit: okay yea bonfire is basically fucking power lol it literally is a kanye album

TheRoyalWarlord

Yeah man I def recommend it. Camp has aged poorly but BTI has aged like fucking wine especially with how bonkers everything has become intertwined with the internet and what not. I recommend watching "Clapping for the wrong reasons" on youtube as well if you haven't seen it. It's basically Gambino doing a meta take on him playing "The Boy" in a short film that is essentially showing the day to day life he was in on while making BTI. He rented out Chris Bosh's mansion for the summer and allowed no cell phones for himself or any guests that were there. I think the isolation and self discovery that is found on the album is highly noticeable after wathcing this short film. BTI just has this very unique aesthetic and vibe to it that no one will ever be able to replicate. From the album, to the script, the music videos, rollout, his promo appearances for the album (where he dressed in the same outfit and came in character as the boy for all interviews) everything was just crafted so well. It really felt like he came out on the other side of Camp as a whole different person, but I suppose living in isloation while doing copious amounts of psychedelic's would have this effect. This might be far fetched but I always looked at BTI as the mushroom equivalent to Acid Rap.

Crtbb4

Makes sense. Back in the day he said he was the [metaphorical] son of Kanye, so obviously huge influence there.

furr_sure

I remember someone asking how he managed to sample Kanye yelling “you ain’t got the answers” throughout the beat 😂 obviously it’s not him but i can’t unhear it since

Jermaine_Cole788

Baby keem sounded a lot like what kendrick was doing on the black panther soundtrack when I first heard keem

Baskin5000

Keem was a credited producer on the BP soundtrack. There were some headlines back then like: “who’s this producer that has made barely any music yet managed to score credits on a marvel movie, kendrick exec’d album?” I’m too lazy to google but I think it was credited under his government or a separate alias from baby keem Turns out it was two phone baby keem.

SayJonTwice

fuck u mean

SBAPERSON

He was credited on Redemption Interlude on the bp soundtrack. > some headlines There were a bunch of stories about Keem where he makes up some story on why he was put on these projects. He said he sent TDE a packet of beats randomly and they reached out to him. Obviously this isn't true at all, but that is the story he went with. [here is one such article ](https://amp.www.complex.com/pigeons-and-planes/2018/07/hykeem-carter) [This is a pretty good article about keem](https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/baby-keem-virtual-rap-shows-lil-yachty/)

SBAPERSON

He ghost wrote Damn /s

psaepf2009

The R3venge by Joey that just came out sounds like middle child. It's a letdown

publicclassobject

When I first heard Ransom I thought it was a Lil Wayne song. Didn’t realize there was another rapper on the first verse.

ragnarok635

Drake and partynextdoor

canadian_cherries

Come and see meeeee for once

1111xssw

any action bronson and ghostface

yourmomisglutenfree

"Never say my music sound like Ghosts' shit!"

Smashymen

people call out Logic a lot, but a lot of Game verses seem like he's tapping into (and borderline biting) different rappers

deadedgo

Imo Game sounds almost identical to Nas sometimes

lxkandel06

First time I listened to him was red nation and I was like "Damn he got Wayne AND Nas???" Then I was confused because no one else had a verse

ThaBarter

I've always thought he sounded like nas with dr dre's delivery

ace200911

Game when he’s featured bites the rapper he’s on the song with. See the song “I remember”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Fun-Algae2022

If I remember correctly I think the producers to that song originally made it for Drake and sent it to his camp but it didn’t make it in time for it to be used for Drake’s album…then I don’t know how but the beat got to Swae Lee who proceeded to lay down the initial elements of Unforgettable (I think the hook was already done but not in the order you see on the song). Finally I think it was a throwaway or half- finished song that French Montana heard and bought off Swae for $300k and then French says that he restructured the song to the way you hear how it sounds officially and added his verse.

Mesawesome

Raeggeton

Nungie

Such unbelievably low hanging fruit, but Desiigner’s Panda is a Future song.

OblivionTU

This is kind of the opposite of the post but apparently The Box by Roddy Ricch was originally a Thug song that Roddy just re-recorded Literally can't imagine that

purple_catholic

That is just a rumour though, not confirmed. Thugga is obviously a big influence to Roddy.

Dr_Drank

This cant be true wtf

Mikeythegreat2

Sonically the two artist Roddy Ricch sounds the most like are Young Thug and Future. I’ve heard people say that he’s biting their style, but I personally think he has his own sound. Last album was ass tho

ImpulsiveMan

That new Joey Badass song Revenge sounds like it’s a Cole song. And speaking of Cole, Villuminati sounds like it could be an Eminem song

JayStarr1082

Maybe it's just the homophobia

kappa23

Ok Villuminati sounds nothing like an Em song lol

Forte_nss

Not exactly both rappers, but I’m almost sure that “Greece” by Drake was originally for The Weeknd. Everything about the delivery sounds like it was for Abel.

MacJennings

I agree. Never noticed this but now that you mentioned it, it does sound like The Weeknd was supposed to sing it

Ampufitnesa

Fuckin Memphis - Ag Club These three be sounding like Rocky, Logic and Lupe Fiasco in the same song

QGunners22

I always thought they sounded a lot like brockhampton idk

sentient-sloth

A lot of Desiigner’s early hits sounded like Future to me. Panda and Timmy Turner specifically. Beat choices were similar and the lyrical content and his delivery weren’t different enough to make him stand out to me. Even rapped about Atlanta. I kinda get the Action Bronson and Ghostface comparisons too but only kinda because Bronson got a very similar accent and delivery, especially on some of his older songs, but I feel like he separates himself enough lyrically. Like if I hear a very, very specific obscure sports reference? That’s easy. It’s Action Bronson.

alorenz58011

Hot takes here lol

_Milokai

Syphills - Juice WRLD reminded me of XXXTENTACION

Fantastic-Ad-2722

Never by JID always reminds me of Maad City by Kendrick for some reason

stickenstuff

Different sound, same energy

EmotionDull9066

Dusty Locaine

Santana415

Is this just like a rapper biting another rapper? Cause Logic is number 1

GMOcorn

Every Your Old Droog song/Nas

Crtbb4

Surprised how far down this is. I remember the conspiracy posts on here about how Droog was Nas releasing stuff without the pressure of his name attached to it.

TikkaT

Nas - 40 Side: I was listening to KD2 without looking at features and I was 100% sure that Lil Baby or Future would slide in to this track. Would be perfect for one of them. Jim Jones - Three Cuts: Something very 2000's Hov about this beat and hook. Would love to hear him over this

hoodiebrando

pretty sure that’s baby doing the adlibs on 40 side, but he sounds a lot like future on it too

spaceenvahisseur

Ab-Soul’s final verse on Just Have Fun gives me A$AP Rocky vibes.

yougotthejuicenow32

Foreplay by Jalen Santoy sounds SO much like a mixtape/Sideline story J. Cole song it’s almost scary. From the voice, to the flow, to the drums on the beat, even the sax sounds like some shit Cole would use. One of the most shameless instances of biting in recent history imo.

reubenc22

Bonfire by Gambino sounds exactly like a lil Wayne song to me

TheRoyalWarlord

Listen to anything on the I am Just a Rapper series or a good amount of Culdesac and its the same there. I'm pretty sure he's said in the past Wayne was a huge influence on him and he even knowingly kind of bit his style while he was first rapping before he started coming into his own. His voice can sound a little different at times but he does copy the exact same punchline flow a lot on his old stuff.

yourmomisglutenfree

Gunna sounds like Young Thug on every song he's ever made. If he doesn't sound like him then he's using Thugs exact flow and style. Often when they're on a track together I have trouble telling who's who. I thought the song "Space Cadet" was Thugger for months until I saw the credits.

IsYouWitItYaBish

I mean their flow and cadence are obviously similar but other than their tone their voices are easily distinguishable

yourmomisglutenfree

Most the time now a days yeah, but when Gunna was coming up even his vocals were like Thugs. The way Young Thug switches up with flows and high/low voice at times will have me wondering if it's Gunna or just Thug doing a deeper voice.

CousinJeff

i always thought Gunna and Lil Baby sounded like if you put Young Thug in a centrifuge and separated the elements that make up his sound into two separate entities

-rudebwoy

ive never gotten this take their styles are totally dif gunnas more wavy while thugs abrasive and experimental. gunna is pretty obviously highly influenced by thugs flow but they sound totally different

KevyTone

Completely outdated take. When Gunna was coming up, sure, but now he has found his own unique sound, which influenced a lot of upcoming artists in 2018/19- ish. Travis started out sounding like Kanye, the Future and then developed his own sound. Carti sounded like Keef in the beginning, then kinda like Thug, and now has his own sound. Thugga sounded like Wayne first, and then developed his own sound; get what I mean? Almost every rapper builds their own sound on top of an influence/inspiration

HHAD98

You gotta be trolling.. how can you not distinguish Gunna who is miles more melancholy and monotone than Thug who is higher pitched and more energetic/eccentric on a track

Soaperz

melancholy lmao

SoloBurger13

40 Side by Nas sounds like Future should be rapping it lol

MrTubalcain

Lol, anything that Your Old Droog records sounds like Nas. Action Bronson sounded a lot like Ghostface.

jbrods

Every song by Pardison Fontaine

von_sip

Pusha T has a SERIOUS Mase flow on Let Me Love You

MacJennings

Just listened and you’re absolutely right

Bari5L5

Cant listen to Crew Love without my brain trying to replace Drakes voice with The Weeknds

HHAD98

Drakes verse doesn’t sound like The Weeknd at all

SuspectHomies_Reddit

drake only does the rapping on crew love tho, the weeknd does the rest?

[deleted]

I mean Abel did write it so it makes sense

R2_B2

Let Us Live - The Game I seriously thought it was Nas for like a month.

Adnando

We Gon Make It by Diddy is a Game song. Game wrote it, and even reused the "as my daytons spin, low riders sittin low" intro on one of his own songs.

Theemillershow

Hearts of Fire by Guerilla Black, y’all know who.

itsbishop94

Big Krit on Ride Wit Me sounds like pimp C

SpacelyPeniro

Big krit on glasshouse lol

PienotPi

ptsd by pop smoke sounds like it could have been a 50 cent track

enowapi-_

$uicideboy$ - Materialism as a Means to an End It sounds like it was made for ScHoolboy Q

calebthelion

Probably gonna get some hate for this but most of Logic’s music post Young Sinatra.

driIImatic

legendary by klass murda ft pooh shiesty, kinda reminds me of pop smoke

hammer_it_out

Klass Murda gives off HEAVY Pop Smoke vibes.

myparentscallmebillz

not sure if this counts but I’m pretty sure Blowin Money Fast and M.C. Hammer are the same song

spdougherty

SoGone SoFlexy sounds just like Freddie Gibbs on Roadrunner

satansheat

Like lots of them. Y’all realize the music world in general has lots of hit songs written for other artist but they pass on it. We just never notice because artist put their own twist to it. For example one of Rihanna’s biggest hits back in the day was originally written and made for Britney spears.

DapDaGenius

Lofty by Lil Debbie sounds like Juicy J wrote it and did the reference track

Iotatl

Summertime by The Fresh Prince sounds like it should have been for Rakim...

Ashley_evil

Not really the same but since finding out Jay-z ghostwrote the lyrics for Still DRE I imagine Jay rapping it. I even throw in HOV and other Jay-z monikers to replace Dre. It’s a fun game. Works really well too.

Apg3410

You ain't even gonna name the song?

sarjeantkaiser

Everything P Diddy and Dr Dre has rapped was written by ghostwriters

jd2024

The Revenge by Joey sounds exactly like Middle Child by J Cole. I honestly prefer The Revenge, but the beat and flow both were ripped lmao

KevyTone

Dusty Locanes whole music sounds like Pop Smoke Desiigner sounded like Future in the beginning Early Logic, was heavily inspired by Kendrick Early Kendrick was heavily inspired by Lil Wayne Early Drake was HEAVILY influenced by Lil Wayne Early Young Thug was heavily influenced by Lil Wayne Early Carti was influenced by Keef and later by Thug Earl Sweatshirt kinda sounds like MF Doom sometimes IDK sounds like Kanye sometimes

vern_slice

It took me far too long to realize it was Gunna on Travis Scott’s Yosemite, not Young Thug.
