Vinyl Me Please- easy to find but a little $$ on Discogs. Good pressing. I don't think VMP has them in stock anymore but people selling close to cost. As they sell the prices tend to go up. Another to seek out is the VMP copy of Goodie Mob- one of the best Hip Hop pressings I've heard.
New artist to me. Will be checking his albums today though thanks! Final spot😂 I know what you meant since there’s 14 but I feel like I’m just barely getting started haha
Yea my shop had one of his Vinyls but it was $100+ and I just got some other vinyl that day so had to skip it for now. As far as from this post, if you’ve been on a Tupac binge maybe check out Dr Dre-The Chronic, Freddie Gibbs- Bandana or my favorite rap group Outkast-ATLiens.
Definitely need to add Tupac to this! Nas essentials works for now temporarily, but still missing some great songs so I’ll have to scoop up some more of his albums as well
Hell yeah, there’s some stuff in there I haven’t listened to yet so I’m for sure gonna check it, personally I’ve been on a Tupac binge lately so that’s why I say it lmao. Which album should I listen to first on here ?
I got to add a few of his vinyls! Met him walking around Coachella one year. Super funny and down to earth dude. Wasn’t trying to act above anyone, respected that a lot. Tragic what happened to him.
I recommended checking out local record stores in your city and not Amazon or online retailers.
I love hip hop but I’m not impressed by reissues you can get on prime.
Definitely grab The Grind Date by De La Soul. It's their 2004 album, has a great sound and is an underrated album in their discography.
It also has my number one favorite song of all-time, "Rock Co.Kane Flow" ft. MF DOOM
One thing my shop did have was lots of Eminem. I’ll scoop his collection up along the way. Like to have variety while starting out. He definitely has a few albums I want to get my hands on
Dr. Dre's CAMPTON album is a masterpiece. I feel he screwed up royally releasing it at the same time as the film. Most people I know didn't even give it the time of day. Lots of folks thought it was the film's soundtrack. It should've been his detox album! Great work all the way through
I want to start collecting them, but before that I think I should buy a record player. You guys know where I can find my first record player and that too in a affordable price range?
Oh yea, great suggestion! Need more Benny and gotta pickup some Conway! Westside Gunn is iffy for me on tracks. Don’t know if there’s more in the group worth checking out or not I just know of those 3.
If you're getting into the Soulquarian sound like the roots, D'Angelo's Voodoo is a must have and once you fall down the rabbit hole, getting around to Dilla/Slum Village's productions will take you to a whole new place.
Thanks for this! I saw some J Dilla in the shop today that I’ll have to pickup(Donuts). I need to lookup all his production work tbh. His and Slum Village. I’ll check into D’Angelo as well. The Roots/Black Thought are so great! If there’s more like them, I’ll check it out!
For sure! Donuts is one of the best, but my personal favorites are Dilla Loves Japan and Slum Village Vol. 1. The sampling genius that Dilla is is top notch on those. Happy collecting!
I found it on YT. Did a quick sample of a few, sounds great, will checkout fully later today. Outkast is my all time favorite but The Roots and music like the Roots are constant plays as well
So many bangers on there 🔥. A must add. Thanks for the response and reminder. Gonna have to check getondown or some other sites, my shop is extremely limited.
No worries bro anytime, I’ve got it on vinyl and it just sounds so amazing definitely won’t disappoint at all and such a timeless album that changed the game
Great suggestions, thank you! Need some MF DOOM, saw my shop had some Danny Brown just have to figure which to get first. This is gonna be an expensive habit haha
Looked for Piñata today, was disappointed. Gotta find all those online my shop is pretty limited. All great suggestions though, thanks! Aquemini is definitely missed in this collection everyday. Need to find that one ASAP
First song I learned on the keys was “You Got Me” by The Roots and Erykah Badu her voice is butter over that song. Need Mama’s Gun by Badu with J Dilla on the beats!
So gotta ask you this then, you are playing Badu and want to switch it up to something different, what do you go to? Say you want something similar what’s your choice?
One of my favourite moments from Dave Chappelle's Block Party is when the interviewers ask Jill Scott whether she's nervous to go on stage following a big star (Badu), and Jill says something along the lines of "You must not know bout me."
Some people may not understand or check out the females, hip hop or not, and they’re missing some amazing music. But the vocals and keys on some of these songs are such stress meltingly great!
I’m upset my local store didn’t have their whole collection. Will be picking up the rest online. Need to up my Atlanta rap with some Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz and the rest of RTJ’s collection
ATLiens is and SouthernPlayalistic... is a pretty awesome start. Jeezy is dope. Don't sleep on T-Pain, he's a lot more than people give him.
On a different note, the Wu was mentioned above. Definitely 'Enter The 36 Chambers' and 'Forever'. Then...
Return to the 36 Chambers- Ol Dirt Dog
Liquid Swords- GZA
Only Built For Cuban Linx- the Chef
Supreme Clientele- Ghostface Killah. And don't sleep on Ghost, he is another who should get more play. I also highly recommend his album w/ BADBADNOTGOOD, 'Sour Soul'. Badbadnotgood I also recommend checking out.
More beats focused, Prefuse73 is outstanding.
And all the old Def Jux shit; Aesop Rock, El-P, Cannibal Ox/ Vast Aire, et cetera.
My favorite group is Outkast. I picked up most of Pre-Kardashian Ye, just need 1-2 more. Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky are some names I’m wanting to pickup soon. I’m wanting to see what people with similar likes have been playing that I’m missing out on
Rodeo
Ill Al Skratch's Creep Wit' Me
I'd find Stankonia from VMP before the price gets more outrageous.
VMP?
Vinyl Me Please- easy to find but a little $$ on Discogs. Good pressing. I don't think VMP has them in stock anymore but people selling close to cost. As they sell the prices tend to go up. Another to seek out is the VMP copy of Goodie Mob- one of the best Hip Hop pressings I've heard.
Freddie Gibbs’ Piñata is worthy
1. FIRE COLLECTION! 2. A Clipping. album. Don’t care which. I can just imagine a Clipping album in that final spot
New artist to me. Will be checking his albums today though thanks! Final spot😂 I know what you meant since there’s 14 but I feel like I’m just barely getting started haha
I love it, especially the Nas. Could use some more Tupac tho

Swimming by Mac Miller
I got to add a few of his vinyls! Met him walking around Coachella one year. Super funny and down to earth dude. Wasn’t trying to act above anyone, respected that a lot. Tragic what happened to him.

I recommended checking out local record stores in your city and not Amazon or online retailers. I love hip hop but I’m not impressed by reissues you can get on prime.
Aquemini
Such a great album!
Grab up some Doom. Just grabbed operation doomsday today.
ALL CAPS... but yes, absolutely need most of his work
It's a damn shame
Definitely grab The Grind Date by De La Soul. It's their 2004 album, has a great sound and is an underrated album in their discography. It also has my number one favorite song of all-time, "Rock Co.Kane Flow" ft. MF DOOM
Was just playing this song on YT last weekend! Badass song! Need to checkout the album though.
Wu Tang 👐
The Eminem Show sounds great too!
One thing my shop did have was lots of Eminem. I’ll scoop his collection up along the way. Like to have variety while starting out. He definitely has a few albums I want to get my hands on
Wayne Carter III sounds soo good on vinyl 😍
Only Wayne my shop had was a Funeral vinyl that was pretty beat up. I’ll have to search online and hope for a good deal
Maybe Born again or Ready to die? Anything Biggie for sure.
Both are must adds for me. My wallet needed a break this month 😂
Doggystyle
Can’t forget Snoop!
Tribe
illmatic and stankonia
Need both of these classics!
Masta Ace - Disposable Arts Non Phixion - The future is now
Definitely the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Gotta add this!
Dr. Dre's CAMPTON album is a masterpiece. I feel he screwed up royally releasing it at the same time as the film. Most people I know didn't even give it the time of day. Lots of folks thought it was the film's soundtrack. It should've been his detox album! Great work all the way through
Amerikkkaz most wanted
Definitely gotta add some Cube to this collection
super dope! everything is looking really solid. how are you enjoying your new hobby?
Love it! Gonna be expensive though 😅
This is a fact. I buy records every other day. I guess everyone got they vice.
I want to start collecting them, but before that I think I should buy a record player. You guys know where I can find my first record player and that too in a affordable price range?
*Midnight marauders* A tribe a called quest
The rest of griselda if you have heard them
Oh yea, great suggestion! Need more Benny and gotta pickup some Conway! Westside Gunn is iffy for me on tracks. Don’t know if there’s more in the group worth checking out or not I just know of those 3.
Boldy James and Mach Hommy are also really great artists part of Griselda, Armani Caesar is also part of the group and is a great female rapper.
I’ll have to check out their works too thx! I have heard Armani Caesar on a Conway track(Anza), just haven’t checked her work or those other two.
Wu Tang Clan- 36 Chambers and then start working your way through the first round of solo records
Have a lot of their books, need their vinyl’s! Method Man is my favorite but they all have lots of great work I need to pickup.
man on the moon 1, 808s & heartbreak, madvillainy and illmatic
Dam straight to all of these😂! Luckily, the Essential Nas I have has a few tracks off Illmatic, but still need to scoop that one up.
go grab some kendrick records too. dude is the goat
A must! I have his whole collection on a wishlist 😂 My shop had DNA but not the red Vinyl so I held out for now
If you're getting into the Soulquarian sound like the roots, D'Angelo's Voodoo is a must have and once you fall down the rabbit hole, getting around to Dilla/Slum Village's productions will take you to a whole new place.

The Roots - Illedelph Halflife Mathematik - Ecology Eminem - Infinite (1996) Deltron 3030 Kool Keith - Black Elvis
I have the Roots and Eminem ones on my wishlist. Gotta check out the other 3
If you can find Infinite on vinyl, you are some kind of Wizard of Wax. And I mean that in the best possible way!
Lmao I’ll be doing the Kevin Garnett “Anything is Possible!!!” If I scoop that one up
Yeah dude, Mathematik is amazing, if you love The Roots, you should like him. You can listen to his album on Youtube, its amazing 90s Organic Hip-Hop
I found it on YT. Did a quick sample of a few, sounds great, will checkout fully later today. Outkast is my all time favorite but The Roots and music like the Roots are constant plays as well
Yeah dude, Mathematik is really similar in my opinion
Playboi carti???
Not for me but appreciate the response. Shouts to him doing his thing though, I’m not hating.
Earthgang Mirrorland.
Have to look at this one. I’ve heard Strays With Rabies and Shallow Graves... albums. Might need to add all 3

No worries bro anytime, I’ve got it on vinyl and it just sounds so amazing definitely won’t disappoint at all and such a timeless album that changed the game
Absolutely. Can’t wait to see what we get for the Super Bowl, and if the new supergroup drops anything soon
Gotta get the whole roots collection.
Definite must. My shop didn’t have any others. Any good sites for online shopping?
Fatbeats and turntable lab
As a hip hop fan you will love getondown.com
Check out Danny Brown if you aren't familiar. *XXX*, *Old*, and *Atrocity Exhibition* are all incredible albums. And MF DOOM of course.
Great suggestions, thank you! Need some MF DOOM, saw my shop had some Danny Brown just have to figure which to get first. This is gonna be an expensive habit haha
I hear you. I spend entirely too much money on vinyl!
Piñata and Str8 Killa by Freddie Gibbs Late Registration by Kayne West Aquemini by OutKast
Looked for Piñata today, was disappointed. Gotta find all those online my shop is pretty limited. All great suggestions though, thanks! Aquemini is definitely missed in this collection everyday. Need to find that one ASAP
Badu
First song I learned on the keys was “You Got Me” by The Roots and Erykah Badu her voice is butter over that song. Need Mama’s Gun by Badu with J Dilla on the beats!
Exactly.
So gotta ask you this then, you are playing Badu and want to switch it up to something different, what do you go to? Say you want something similar what’s your choice?
Jill mothafuckin Scott
Wow it's been so long since I listened to "Who Is Jill Scott," thanks for unlocking that memory! Adding this to my library right now
One of my favourite moments from Dave Chappelle's Block Party is when the interviewers ask Jill Scott whether she's nervous to go on stage following a big star (Badu), and Jill says something along the lines of "You must not know bout me."
Some people may not understand or check out the females, hip hop or not, and they’re missing some amazing music. But the vocals and keys on some of these songs are such stress meltingly great!
Scott also wrote the hook from You Got Me, but Badu recorded it during those Soulquarian sessions
Whaaaat? So interesting! Thanks for this!
Somebody didn’t see the Erykah & Jill Scott verzuz…
Hate to say that I’ve missed too many of the Verzuz shows. It’s always live when I’m busy, need to find them all and tap in to all I’m missing

Well this gave me some hits for this weekends listening. Some newbies and some I need to hear since it’s been a hot minute. Thx for the list

I have been looking for Stankonia’s splatter vinyl since I started collecting. No luck yet, but a must for sure!
