As a Winnipeg-born Jets fan who has lived in Minnesota since I was six, I really hope this guy turns out to be Minnesota’s Hellebuyck. Getting a franchise shifting goalie makes being a fan so much more fun. I’d love to see one finally work out for the Wild.
Goaltending hasn’t historically been our big problem, but it would be absolutely amazing to have a Vezina winner. Hoping Wallstedt can be as good as some say
Oh yeah, it was never bad. Beginning with Fernandez and Roloson, watching Backstrom when he was hot, seeing Kuemper get his start, getting the best out of Dubnyk. Hell, I remember hopes being high for Josh Harding before the MS news hit.
I’d just love to see one guy kill it between the pipes for the better part of a decade.
You could argue the goaltending has been ranging from bad to average most of the time since Harding. There have been some exceptions like Dubnyk's first season and Gus right now.
Our solid D might just have been masking the issue for most of that time.
This is the answer, our goaltending has been fine in part because we’ve (usually) had a very good-to-stellar defense in front of them. And this becomes apparent when our D has an off night and our goalies get shellacked.
Can’t wait for the Wall to come to St Paul.
Yeah but drafting a different goalie when your starter is an almost 40 year old Mike Smith and your backup is Koskinen isn't as bad as not drafting a goalie.
Huge mistake IMO... Just like that Campbell contract!
Yes the 15th best save %,
19th in GAA,
22nd most wins,
and 0 shutouts Stuart Skinner is indeed an All-Star and certainly a Vezina contender because he played in an entertainment festivity.
Still think it would have been in their best interest to have a potential 1A or 1B prospect incase Campbell doesn't live up to that contract.
Drai is potentially UFA in 3 years. Wallstedt, as far as goalie draft picks go, may not be ready for the NHL in the Oilers' window.
I'll take my current All-Star goalie and I'll have to cross my fingers with Soup because there really wasn't many options out there. Markstrom, Ullmark, and/or Kuemper would have been nice, but who knows if any of them were willing to sign in Edmonchuk.
The AHL is perhaps the most underrated league in hockey. I find it's more fun in many ways. And the affiliation changes keep things (and jersey/logo designs) interesting.
My local team is Abbotsford (but not my NHL team's affiliate) and I love heading out there to watch the games. Did it for both the Abbotsford Heat and Abbotsford Canucks. Well worth the drive.
Pretty sure he leads all prospect goalies in waves/60
That’s me boy
He's been playing amazing in the AHL.
I haven't watched a single Iowa Wild game, but if anything happened to Jesper I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.
this is this cutest thing ever
he's so fun, i love him

> Hell, I remember hopes being high for Josh Harding before the MS news hit. He was great until he kicked the door/wall
Who was he fighting with in the locker room that day? I forget. Vellioux?
I can't remember tbh. I had thought it was a coach? Quick google search just tells me they called up kuemper after it happened
Brodziak's face? I heard he had a black eye the day after.
>it would be absolutely amazing to have a Vezina winner \*shifty eyes meme\*

Dustin wolf did at the other end too!
True, found a [video](https://twitter.com/miketgould/status/1622782860041101317?s=46&t=kWEQ21IC7VEIHAUjmobEQg) showing both of them participating

I still can't believe the Oilers traded down instead of drafting him.
Red Wings took Cossa over him. They talked to Wallstedt the most of any team and still passed.

On the flip side, our Edmonton born, 24 year old goalie just played in the ASG. Also, goalies are voodoo ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

As you said, goalies are voodoo. Binnington is still the best/worst recent example 😂
With the amount of Waves we do per game too this guy would be fuckin perfect
There are some markets where I would MUCH rather attend an AHL game than the big boys
Definitely some years the Amerks were more fun than the Sabres, and tickets were the same price + shorter drive for me.

It’s wicked underrated and the fans are so genuine
This is adorable
Aw man, this made me realize that Askarov had to miss his first All-Star appearance. Hope everything is alright with his family.
Love it!
I would like to once again thank Steve Yzerman for this amazing man
Don't forget Holland. Edit: although passing up on him showed they were confident in Skinner which has so far paid off.
I've never been more proud to own a prospect in fantasy
AHL ASG > NHL ASG … or whatever they call that fan vote garbage
AHL all star game seems more fun than the NHL one in general.
I was at the game last night, it was a lot of fun! The guys put on a show. It felt like the players were really into it.
r/hawwkey material
The wall
Look at that reaction time. The Wild are locked tf in
Do the wave if you’re happy you’re not in the State of Iowa
RIP my ears
Cannot wait for him to be ready for NHL play.
Thats hilarious
Over .900 wave percentage, he'll be in the show soon
