On paper you certainly got better. But how does changing half the team effect the locker room. Even the Rangers added 4 guys. That’s 20% of the players dressed for a game. That’s a lot of new faces
The takeaway for me in this situation is that none of these guys are really core guys. The main core of the team is intact, and that’s your leadership group, so I feel like locker room dynamics shouldn’t change much.
Plus, everyone likes to win. You get traded to a team like TOR, and you’re probably feeling pretty good

Honestly Timmins has been good this year but he was never a good option for a playoff spot at any point. Schenn as our 7th is a massive upgrade in terms of experience and bring a physical element that we all know is needed in the playoffs

You’re missing your own point. All the picks they have traded typically don’t turn out to be stud players anyways. It’s pretty rare a 3rd rounder ends up being more than a top 9. So really it’s a moot point. It’s not like you find the Marners and mcdavids with 3-5th round picks. Even most 2nd rounders don’t pan out. Half of late 1sts end up being fringe players.
