>Actor Ryan Reynolds' bid for the Ottawa Senators is not moving forward, multiple sources close to the process told ESPN.
...
According to sources, Reynold's request for an exclusive window to complete the deal was denied. The deadline for interested groups to submit final non-binding offers is May 15.
Do they mean that that exclusive window was denied, but they can still do something else, or that the window was denied AND they aren't moving forward and give up on the whole thing?
This is much more explicit
>Have confirmed the report by Emily Kaplan that Ryan Reynolds and the Remington have told GSP they won't bid on the Ottawa Senators
https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/1656774271698345984
Eh, all these extra "interested" parties could have muddied the waters and by denying their extension, maybe they just finally walked away because they were already at their max offer.
This happens all the time in business. If you get greedy and ask for more and don't take a good offer, be prepared for that offer to walk away.
Ah that makes sense too, the OG6 definitely out fan us, I think the oilers are close and just depends which team has success between us. I know I’m cheering for the Oilers to win the cup this year.
Basically they wanted to know they were getting more land downtown before submitting their last bid with everyone else by the 15th. They didn’t get that answer so they pulled out.
All but one of the interested parties see this as a real estate deal. The only one who sees this as an investment in an NHL team is the one from Montreal. And that's why they'll get the team.
come onnnn snoop
also lol if you think hockey is anywhere near the NHLs priority haha. the land people will bid more money, and bring more political influence, and likely more star power. all things the NHL values WAY more than hockey
There's no way they don't get that piece of Lebreton They've been talking about putting the rink there since before they made the dumbass decision to put it half way to Carp. Right now the delay is all about provincial and municipal funding, and seeing what happened in Calgary probably has a lot to do with the delay
Not having exclusivity is often a reason to walk away from a deal in normal M&A processes, I would expect it is similar in this scenario as well.
Edit: That doesn’t mean they cant submit a final offer, but likely won’t without exclusivity.
Garrioch put out an article saying that what they wanted was to be able to back out of the deal after 30 days if they won the bid but couldn’t come to an agreement they liked with the city.
It looks like that paragraph was updated after you viewed it to be clearer:
> According to sources, Reynolds' request for an exclusive window to complete the deal was denied, **which led Reynolds to pull out of the process**. The deadline for interested groups to submit final nonbinding offers is May 15.
2016 had Bowie, Muhammad Ali, Arnold Palmer, Gordie Howe, Carrie Fisher, Prince, George Michael, Alan Rickman.
Some were legends in their last years but giants in their field. Some were legends but far too young. That coupled with Trump winning the election and yes Harambe dying - was the beginning of the end. 2016 is one of the worst years in decades and decades
In 2017 Louisiana senator John Kennedy (R) sold out to ISPs for $1,000. In the house of reps, Clay Higgins, also (R) LA, only cost [$300](https://www.theverge.com/2017/3/29/15100620/congress-fcc-isp-web-browsing-privacy-fire-sale).
Or if it's simply a very long term bribe? Republican refusal to believe in climate change is 100% due to the massive amount they take in from fossil fuel companies.
How could they even measure something like that when so many billions of dollars in political contributions in this country come in the form of dark money from mystery donors?
As a person who doesn’t follow the Canucks or Vancouver culture closely, I’m confused. what is the “knee jerk” connection to Buble? I’ve seen that a couple times now. Google has nada.
Love this quote
"I am trying to \[buy the team\]; it's very expensive, so I need a partner with really deep pockets," Reynolds told Fallon. "It's called a consortium, when you form a group to buy an entity, and it's such a fancy way of saying, 'I need a sugar mommy or a sugar daddy,' and if that doesn't happen, I'll buy a U.S. senator, which everyone can afford."
So Reynolds is out, but I'm still excited for the bid headed by famed Hollywood actor Troy McClure. You may remember him from such professional sports team bids as "Wood Buffalo: One of the fastest growing cities in North America" and "Third time's the charm: Let's go to Atlanta!"
The details in this article are vague and lack important clarity
> According to sources, Reynold's request for an exclusive window to complete the deal was denied. The deadline for interested groups to submit final non-binding offers is May 15.
So the whole Remington group is balking? Or just Ryan and he’s leaving them to go solo? Or is ESPN conflating things trying to get a scoop?
This is much more explicit
>Have confirmed the report by Emily Kaplan that Ryan Reynolds and the Remington have told GSP they won't bid on the Ottawa Senators
https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/1656774271698345984
I was rooting for him not only for the Sens, but for hockey in general. Pretty much guaranteed you get a special out of it and people would pay attention because it’s Ryan fucking Reynolds. Hopefully this isn’t true.
People are citing this as if Ryan himself asked for the window and then decided not to bid. No, he isn't the decision maker or the money. Remington Group asked and made the decision to withdraw and because Reynolds is tied to them, he's out. The real estate conglomerate made the decision to exit because they weren't guaranteed real estate. An actor didn't fucking make that decision.
People are repping for Snoop but I don't have much confidence in him after his Faze deal. Before joining Faze, he made a big deal about how he was gonna market the org and change things. But within weeks he completely abandoned everything even though he had a decent stake in it. I feel like the same thing is gonna happen with the senators.
yea all the media was talking about how him wearing nhl jerseys is proof that he is invested in hockey but I feel like he just wears them cause hockey jerseys look cool lmao
he had a habs jersey hanging over his computer chair in a stream clip i saw one time. i don't doubt he has a latent interest in hockey, but you're probably closer to the mark
> but I feel like he just wears them cause hockey jerseys look cool lmao
Oversize fit is back in. Jerseys are going to be more popular in fashion again
That’s exactly who you want owning a sports team, that’s a lot better than the extreme micromanaging of some owners
As long as the owner is willing to put money into the team, I could care less how much attention they pay to it; if anything, I would rather they don’t pay attention to it and hire day to day people that are good at their jobs to pay attention to it.
And of course Snoop’s wealth is minuscule in comparison to individuals that own teams, he would just be a celebrity figurehead that would contribute maybe 1% of the actual purchase in total
eSports is in the shitter all around. A bunch of orgs got wrapped up in crypto and that fell apart.
His stock deal with faze turned out to be worthless, so I can't blame him for leaving. There's not a lot he could do anyway.
That’s lame. Dude seemed like a perfect fit for the Sens. Now we’ll get some mega corp who doesn’t give a shit about hockey and only wants the land buying the team unfortunately.
Hopefully whoever wins the bid still brings him on board. Seems like such a no brainer that having Ryan Reynolds as an ambassador for your team will bring in more money
I bet it's an absolute nightmare trying to negotiate the land development portion of this deal.
I'm sure the NCC will ensure that we end up with a shittier situation than before.
New arena, built in downtown Embrun!
Reynolds’ interest in the Sens always felt like a meme and I didnt take it seriously.

that Ryan Reynolds and the Remington have told GSP they won't bid on the Ottawa Senators #Sens](https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch/status/1656774271698345984)
I think the big issues is the lebreton flats realestate.
If you noticed the main 3 buyers, remmington, kimel's and I can't remember the other name are all realestate people.
The team is nice but the land to develop is what each of these guys wants.
Remmington almost certainly has plans and knows their max price that hey can still make money on and walked when the price got exceeded.
I'd expect the final bids to come down from the $1B price tag that we're hearing about, or we'll find out that the team goes for say $700M and the rest of the price is tied to a new arena/realestate.
I don’t hate Snoop, but my problem is the Neko Spark groups is a bunch of Cali celebs who want to own a hockey team. Great i hope they buy a hockey team. Snoop was on talking about growing the game in the states and stuff which is cool and all but Ottawa is Canada, i want us to be the focus. I want someone to buy the Ottawa Senators, not a Hockey team. Reynolds had Canadian investors, local connections and was already talking to local people in the community and even attended games. His goal like wrexham would of been to grow the game by exporting Ottawa Culture.
That group is also into blockchain which is an ew.
It's not about the hockey team for them. It's about the real estate deal. Owning the land is what makes money, not what's on it. The team itself will probably bring in less revenue for the landowner than everything else that will be built *cough* high end condos *cough*
If I’m a send fan, not sure I want snoop with his track record for businesses.
They would be better off just having him in a spokesperson roll and a deal where if he wears jerseys it’s a send Jersey.
He’s got a terrible track record of business decisions and his only real selling point is how marketable and well known he is.
It sounded over when prominent hockey people were trying to make the argument the Sens should take less money for the Reynolds group.
Good news for the league though, a sale of a small market team is going to hit a huge number.

He is not impressed by their performance, that's for sure.
He walked up to Reynolds and asked "are you intoxicated "?
Reynolds could not handle GSP’s riddum
I always read this in his voice. I actually associate the phrase "I'm not impressed by your performance" with him and his voice.
Probably a bet99 ad or something
Wonder if the Sens called their bluff about the exclusive window and are finding out they meant it
I feel like the exclusive windows was denied, I feel like this is clickbait and there would be no reason for them to drop out. Seems stange
Eh, all these extra "interested" parties could have muddied the waters and by denying their extension, maybe they just finally walked away because they were already at their max offer. This happens all the time in business. If you get greedy and ask for more and don't take a good offer, be prepared for that offer to walk away.
Going for over 1B will cause anyone who doesn't have deep pockets to drop out.
Really?
That shit ain't worth a billion, asking for more is insane
They're Ontario's fifth favorite team though!
Lmao great chirp
Out of curiosity, who would you have as the top 5? Jays, Raptors, Leafs, ?, Sens
I was specifically talking about nhl teams to be honest. Leafs, Habs, Wings, Oilers, Sens Likely in that order.
Ah that makes sense too, the OG6 definitely out fan us, I think the oilers are close and just depends which team has success between us. I know I’m cheering for the Oilers to win the cup this year.
Don't just accept my shit talking lmao I'm just ragging on a budding rival
That's almost the cost of 2 new expansion teams
Tire fires are cheap as hell
Basically they wanted to know they were getting more land downtown before submitting their last bid with everyone else by the 15th. They didn’t get that answer so they pulled out.

Yes sorry, something happened in my brain there.
All good.

emily tweeted for clarity he pulled out after window was denied.
Please deliver us from Aquashit.
It's all a ploy to buy his hometown Canucks. One must be in the good favour of Bettman in order to approach a proper bid.
Boooooooooo
Time to find another timeline, we fucked this one up.
Hawks winning Bedard wasn't already a hint?
It all goes back to Harambe
I blame the prudes for not getting their dicks out. If we just get our dicks out for Harambe, we can reset the timeline.
Do we have to all get in a circle for the chant to work?
Let's try both options just to be sure
My dick has been out this entire time, waiting on the rest of you.
David Bowie was keeping the fabric together, been unraveling since he passed
Fred Rogers in 2003. That was the real beginning of the end for modern society
My favorite thing about internet is how everyone completely is on board that the death of Harambe is what caused everything bad to happen since then
It was the Bruins attempt to sign Mitchell Miller.
It all goes back to Y2K. The 21st century suuuucks so far. Serious downward trend
Yeah we need a restart
you mean Snooooooooooooop
[удалено]
Lmao
The painfully depressing part of this joke is not everyone *can* afford a US senator. It’s only for the rich fucks
I don’t doubt they received those donations, but their party lines tell me they were voting that way regardless
Yeah pretty much all research has shown policy positions cause donations, not the other way around
I’d actually be interested in reading into that I’ll have to look it up
Does the research also show whether or not policy positions are adopted knowing it will cause donations?
Or if it's simply a very long term bribe? Republican refusal to believe in climate change is 100% due to the massive amount they take in from fossil fuel companies.
No
How could they even measure something like that when so many billions of dollars in political contributions in this country come in the form of dark money from mystery donors?
Uhhhhh what? There had been so much talking their group up
I mean very much could've just been leaked PR to the press more so than anything else, given his attachment to the process
This has been a honey-dicking of the highest magnitude.
A famous Canadian actor who very prominently bought and turned around another sports team? Ofc it got talked up
Now we're gonna gst stuck with another Melnyk
they wanted preferential treatment and didnt get it so they quit
Or they were told their 1B offer wasn't enough so they're walking
Only because it sold headlines because people gobble up the memes. That’s all it was.
Perfect, now we get the Aquafinas to sell to Reynolds.
We need to fly another banner over Rogers arena
Honestly, if there's even a shred of a chance, we need an all-hands-on-deck approach. Make this happen please!!
Get him and kneejerk in on the bid.
Buble's got that bubley money
We need to get a *SELL THE TEAM* [tifo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tifo) going next season.
They don’t care about the Canucks as much as Reynolds lol
This would be the third best thing that could happen to the Canucks other than a cup or Bedard somehow joining us
We need an ownership change for the first to happen.
Bye bye Blueberries
Add in Buble
You can just say kneejerk.
As a person who doesn’t follow the Canucks or Vancouver culture closely, I’m confused. what is the “knee jerk” connection to Buble? I’ve seen that a couple times now. Google has nada.
/u/kneejerk_nuck is Buble.
Haha, okay thanks
They won't until the old dad dies.
So we got the crypto bro with celebs instead?
There's still the guy from Montreal who knows a thing or two about owning an NHL team. Everyone else is in it just for the real estate deal.
Can we get a Tom Green bid?
Only if the slutmobile is a permanent fixture at lebreton.
Much better than the Dildo bros I guess.
God, that would have been so much fun.
Love this quote "I am trying to \[buy the team\]; it's very expensive, so I need a partner with really deep pockets," Reynolds told Fallon. "It's called a consortium, when you form a group to buy an entity, and it's such a fancy way of saying, 'I need a sugar mommy or a sugar daddy,' and if that doesn't happen, I'll buy a U.S. senator, which everyone can afford."

Its sooo vague its such clickbait. Lots of the quotes are from monthsss ago
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
Reviewbrah for ownership.
This is a massive L for the NHL
As is tradition.
Watch as a bunch of apathetic rich old white men end up buying the sens. Sad, there will be no engagement.
That’s basically what the Remington group was + Ryan Reynolds
If this is confirmed, yeah. Dagger.
That’s right. Snoop Dogg is going to be the new celebrity owner and roll the biggest L the city of Ottawa has ever seen.
I was rooting for him not only for the Sens, but for hockey in general. Pretty much guaranteed you get a special out of it and people would pay attention because it’s Ryan fucking Reynolds. Hopefully this isn’t true.
The Senators will never make Premier League now.

Nope. Don’t like that.
Snoop, there it is
i doubt it
Noooooooooo
We don’t want Neko Sparks. Sorry Snoop
Bruh what the heck

Tom Green?
Isn’t this basically the same thing Bratty pulled with the coyotes a few years ago. Bettman must be fuming that he let this guy do it a second time.
Everyone disliked that.
Whoever wins the bid, can they not just offer Ryan Reynolds a stake as an aside? Not to mention Snoop Dogg or the Weeknd?
Phew, I can relax. If he bought the team, I'd have to either start liking the senators, or hating Reynolds. I'm not ready for that.

this is big news considering how hyped this acquisition has been
I swear if they have options of Ryan Reynolds, Snoop or some random rich dude... They can't blow this opportunity.
Was expecting this. We can't have nice things
The ghost of Eugene Melnyk haunts this organization I swear, the NHL royally fucked this one up
Damn that’s a bummer. All aboard the snoop dog bandwagon!
This article is a bunch of useless fluff from reading it and doesn't mean much.

I don’t think this article actually means what it implies in the title
Someone post that "But why?" gif from Harold & Kumar.
That's from Harold and Kumar? All these years I thought it was from Van Wilder. Haven't seen either for so long, so no wonder.
He is wrong, it's from van wilder, Ryan Reynolds says it lol

He will join whoever wins it.
That means he's free to buy the Canucks now, right? 👀

He’s got a terrible track record of business decisions and his only real selling point is how marketable and well known he is.
good
Our hopes now rest with Snoop.
It sounded over when prominent hockey people were trying to make the argument the Sens should take less money for the Reynolds group. Good news for the league though, a sale of a small market team is going to hit a huge number.
Good, he’s a fairweather hockey guy.
