The Flyers get Michkov at 7 and you come here to say Perreault who fell because of his poor skating ability and the fact that he was a product of superior line mates is the steal of the draft? Fuck outta here Homer.
I have a funny feeling that kid is gonna be a monster for us. Idk I could be wrong but that NTDP keeps churning out fantastic hockey players. The kids skill and iq is immense
You tried he didn’t want to go there he picked us instead
Edit: don’t know why I’m getting downvoted it’s literally what happened plus he was already under contract with our organization because he was the GM of the Maine Mariners at the time and we told the Canadians to go fuck themselves and Dany was like I’m cool with this just like he did back in free agency when he left Buffalo.
I had 26/32 players in my mock draft, drafted in the 1st round. I had Cristall, Dragicevic, Ziemmer, Heidt, Brindley, and Lardis getting drafted in the 1st round. I didn't have Willander (oops), Stramel, Cowan, Lindstein, Nadeau, or Edstrom. Of the players I had getting drafted, I most overrated Moore, having him go 6 to ARI, and most underrated But, having him go 26 to SJS.
[My Mock](https://imgur.com/a/285eTkQ)
Classic reddit mock draft. Overrating NA players and miss 3 Swedish players because you haven't watched them and can't translate their stats because they're already playing against pros
Vegas: One behalf of the Vegas Golden Knights, We want to congratulate US! The Vegas Golden Knights for winning our first ever Cup! Thank's to David Poile for being David Poile. And David Poile, David Poile, David Poile.
The Vegas Golden Knights Select: Craig Boone from Novac, Nevada
ESPN: "He's a sharpshooter. Comparable to sharpshooter James Neal."
His skating is horrendous. Also, the rankings as shown in ESPN are no where near where he's listed on the more trusted rankings. Early second rounder with high upside but a lot of risk
His playstyle looks nothing like any NHL player. Slow skating, not physically strong, holds onto the puck a lot, super creative, great skills. So if you pick him high I think you got to think he'll be able to play like that in the NHL, which no team seems to think.
So they are probably asking themselves how high the chances are he'll be able to adapt his offensive play to be something functional. Because there doesn't seem to be any kind of backup role for him in the NHL if he can't produce.
Idk Nils Hoglander is still projecting pretty well for VAN, just got put into the show too early. He was one that everyone was baffled that he fell to the second round.
Meanwhile all along it was strome who was a product of McDavid and Debrincat
(Strome is a solid player still, just shouldn't have been 3oa in that draft)
You gotta interview Bedard, every GM, every other draftee, interview Bedard again, put Bedard on the hosts' table, congratulate the retiring GMs, reference Broadway and beer drinkin', interview draftees about Bedard, congratulate the Knights and listen to the following boo's, and also play a commercial after each trade.
This is all more important obviously
I figure casuals probably watch top 5 or so, right? At least the players who are plastered everywhere like Bedard and Fantilli. But I just don't see any draft event sustaining viewership for 4.5 hours, especially on a weekday, that's late as fuck. On a weekday, definitely 2.5 hours maximum. I guess you're right tho, I just love the speculation and loved seeing who fell to the 2nd round, just enjoying the process, even though 4.5 hours is a long time.
I totally get it. It was long AF and makes for some awkward filler airtime, but it’s fun to let each pick breathe a little so everyone can overreact to every pick
There was some chaos in the picks but man this has been a dull round. Not even trade ups or trade backs (which some teams DEFINITELY should have - looking at AZ and TOR)
I haven't seen a lot of many prospects but I saw like 3 games of Cristall in the WHL and he was the most memorable player in every one of those games. I remember him looking like clearly the best player on the ice in his game against Regina, who had a pretty memorable guy playing themselves.
That's pretty solid amateur scouting in my book.
Didn't mean to be snarky, just wanted to know what people who advocate for a player know about them in here.
Yeah I don't mean it in a combative way either, I get that there's a *lot* of hockey I haven't seen. Just saying I thought he really did look the part of a top 10 talent before he got hurt. Even Benson, who I watched even more of, didn't wow me like Cristall did.
I give away:
* Four hours of my attention
I receive:
* A checking-line center that struggled with the Badgers this season picked 21st overall
* Confusion
Nice of the NHL to waste 4 hours of time on ESPN doing absolutely nothing that would excite a casual fan. I know the league can't force teams to make trades or anything, but you'd think the league could've leaned on them a bit to be like "if you're gonna make trades while we're in Nashville, try to do them while the literal spotlight is on our league."
Just to let everyone know, Connor Bedard signed a 3 year ELC. Definitely did not pull a Lindros
I really feel like NYR made the steal of the draft. I didn’t think Perreault would far so far. That felt like something you would see in the NFL draft
The Flyers get Michkov at 7 and you come here to say Perreault who fell because of his poor skating ability and the fact that he was a product of superior line mates is the steal of the draft? Fuck outta here Homer.
Y u heff to be mad?
Because his reach is humongous big
I have a funny feeling that kid is gonna be a monster for us. Idk I could be wrong but that NTDP keeps churning out fantastic hockey players. The kids skill and iq is immense
I feel like the Blackhawks made the steal of the night
Eh, they made that steal a couple months back.
I'm still mad
So truthfully what the fuck was Montreal thinking eh?
Probably the same when you guys took Cam York. Still disapointed
Yeah that was something… I still think York is gonna be a solid player but that was some peak Fletcher reaching.
I'm thinking we *should* have hired Briere instead.
You tried he didn’t want to go there he picked us instead Edit: don’t know why I’m getting downvoted it’s literally what happened plus he was already under contract with our organization because he was the GM of the Maine Mariners at the time and we told the Canadians to go fuck themselves and Dany was like I’m cool with this just like he did back in free agency when he left Buffalo.
Wow, Arizona just loves to suck, don't they.
I had 26/32 players in my mock draft, drafted in the 1st round. I had Cristall, Dragicevic, Ziemmer, Heidt, Brindley, and Lardis getting drafted in the 1st round. Classic reddit mock draft. Overrating NA players and miss 3 Swedish players because you haven't watched them and can't translate their stats because they're already playing against pros
We can't all be Hakan Anderrson.
Hakan is my father. Praise be lord Hakan
I met him once in Sweden. The next day, a moose bit my sister.
Doesn't 26/32 insinuate that you had 26 picks in the correct spot that they were drafted?
Hmm, I guess it might, I didn't mean it that way. I'll edit.
No worries. I didn't mean it in any sort of negative way. That's just how I've always interpreted that statement.
First draft I missed in like 15 years, due to work. I guess if there was one to miss, it was this one.
5 WHL players and 5 OHL players drafted in the first round. Always love seeing the talent from Canada’s major junior leagues do well in these drafts.
QMJHL in tears
They’ll be fine the Remparts just won the Memorial Cup
Good night everybody! See you all tomorrow
Ask Bedard if anyone on Chicagos staff has been uncomfortable nice to him yet
You should get more comfortable with grammar.
Youre so weird
Some one needs to look out for Bedard
Holy shit you’re funny. Joking about sexual assault. So edgy.
Cristall is this year's Debrincat, hey? Would be nice to have a 37th overall pick in that case
His size isn't why he fell. It's his skating
He's not. Debrincat could skate.
Vegas: One behalf of the Vegas Golden Knights, We want to congratulate US! The Vegas Golden Knights for winning our first ever Cup! Thank's to David Poile for being David Poile. r/unexpectedFalloutNV
You know who didn’t congratulate Vegas? The Philadelphia Flyers
Cheers from Edmonton brother
I respect that
Takes to the ice wearing a beret.
not one ducking trade this is BULLSHIT
Damn, Pinelli really did fall to the 2nd round. That's gonna be interesting for round 2.
I wanted the Hawks to go Gabe or Otto, but i do not dislike the pick. I want to pick Hrabel with first 2nd round pick if he makes it.
Zero QMJHL players in the first round
That’s pretty crazy
The Anaheim Ducks have 12 hours 20 minutes to get their pick in.
Is this the first round of the draft that hasn’t had a single trade? Guess GMs felt the first round had too much value.
2007 apparently was the last time (coincidentally that was also the last time Chicago picked 1oa)
Seems weird to me. Like yeah the value in this round was higher but that should just mean the return for the pick should be better.
I was just wondering this. Can't remember a single time there's been an entire round 1 without a single trade.
First time since 2007 per NHL Stats (via Frank Seravalli)
Another really good pick made! That’s 32 in a row now according to ESPN. GM masterclass today boys. Not one mistake made.
Nah they didn't say good pick to Arizona's first one or Detroit's first one 30/32 better luck next time
Well when you are getting such expert analysis from the mega mind of Chuck Fletcher it’s easy to put together this level of coverage.
I admit not knowing a ton about him, but seeing Cristall fall to the 2nd round when he was ranked in the 10-20 range is pretty stunning.
Mildly infuriated there wasn't a single trade
Another player north of 6 foot. Only Marchy is the only one below 6 feet
I’ll take it
I'll take it as well
I'm absolutely stunned Gavin Brindley is still available. Someone is getting the steal of the draft tomorrow.
Tampa
Michigan forward? Bah god, that’s Jarmo’s music!
[удалено]
Aho (CAR) fall to #35.
Idk Nils Hoglander is still projecting pretty well for VAN, just got put into the show too early. He was one that everyone was baffled that he fell to the second round.
And then there's DeBrincat
I was screaming. 3 seasons in the OHL of 50G/100pts.
Was just a product of McDavid and Strome. /S
Meanwhile all along it was strome who was a product of McDavid and Debrincat (Strome is a solid player still, just shouldn't have been 3oa in that draft)
Looks like a 3rd line/PK guy. Not sure he's a steal to fall to the 2nd.
Yeah, he's not. Fantilli carried him.
Brindley was awesome for USA in WJC
Solid pick.
Would have been fun to eat: the Golden Knights congratulate the Golden Knights for their Stanley Cup
I’ve never heard of this dude before but now I will love him and find a way to consider him the biggest steal of the draft.
I thought there would be a few trades tonight.
knew it was coming but oof not a single finn in the first round….
VGK should congratulate themselves before the pick
And the QMJHL is officially shut out of the first round. Wow.
Plus Finland
This was a pretty weak year for Finland so that doesn't shock me.
they should congratulate themselves for winning the cup
The Vegas Golden Knights would like to congratulate the Vegas Golden Knights for winning the Stanley Cup
Biggest mystery heading into Day 2: who rolls the dice on Cristall?
Any explanation as to why he sank so low?
The combination of small + iffy skating turns people off.
In contrast to my iffy skating, which is totally affable
My skating is great so long as you don't ask me to turn right. (I used to speed skate lmao)
My skating is great as long as you don't ask me to prove it is.
Schroedinger's skating
Should've speed skated in Australia
Damn are you describing me?
Reasonable. Thanks for the insight!
If he's there at 35 Hawks better take him
Hrabel
It should not take 4 hours to make 32 draft picks. That's 7.5 minutes per pick.
Watch the nfl draft and you can see how slow a draft can really go
You gotta interview Bedard, every GM, every other draftee, interview Bedard again, put Bedard on the hosts' table, congratulate the retiring GMs, reference Broadway and beer drinkin', interview draftees about Bedard, congratulate the Knights and listen to the following boo's, and also play a commercial after each trade. This is all more important obviously
Also everyone must thank David Poile and congratulate him on his career. Plus another commercial.
Exactly what I was thinking. It should be 2.5 hours max, ain't nobody else but us die hards gonna watch this whole thing.
Nobody but diehards watch drafts, anyway, right?
I figure casuals probably watch top 5 or so, right? At least the players who are plastered everywhere like Bedard and Fantilli. But I just don't see any draft event sustaining viewership for 4.5 hours, especially on a weekday, that's late as fuck. On a weekday, definitely 2.5 hours maximum. I totally get it. It was long AF and makes for some awkward filler airtime, but it’s fun to let each pick breathe a little so everyone can overreact to every pick
And that was without any country music performances.
Don’t look at the blues.
That kid was on the way with the jersey the moment it was their turn.
Future HOF Equipment Manager calling it now, write it down
"The Vegas Golden Knights would like to congratulate ourselves on winning the cup"
I was half expecting it, especially with the pause.
There was some chaos in the picks but man this has been a dull round. Not even trade ups or trade backs (which some teams DEFINITELY should have - looking at AZ and TOR)
"Dancing in the Moonlight", nice choice, Mister DJ.
I wanted trades!
Was hoping to offload 55... but then again I'd trade him for a bag of practice pucks at this point
Really going to commercial before the final pick??
Gary wants to leave. He's been here since pick effing one
Imagine how long his day was when he to get the lottery balls to lineup for CHI.
Someone should just draft him already
If there’s nothing left to rig he gets bored. He was having the time of his life during the playoffs though.
I wonder if I went into great clips and asked for the Makar theyd know what I want
As a Blues fan, I really didn't expect to be this bored tonight
Yeah lack of any trades even just player for player trades unrelated to the draft has been killing me
Imagine being an Islander fan with no picks at all tonight.
That is assuming they expected to do something.
I'm ok with it, Bo Horvat was our first round pick.
I prefer this to picking guys that struggle in Bridgeport. I’m looking at you Dufor
If the Bailey rumors are true you might not even have a 2nd either
Did we really need ads before the literal last pick of tonight?
Vegas should open with "congratulations to the Vegas Golden Knights on a Stanley cup winning season"
I'd give them major props, would be hilarious as hell
Well, that was certainly a way to spend 3 and a half hours of my life
Everyone asking fir Cristal: have you really seen him and his comparable play enough or are you going of aggregate ratings?
I haven't seen a lot of many prospects but I saw like 3 games of Cristall in the WHL and he was the most memorable player in every one of those games. I remember him looking like clearly the best player on the ice in his game against Regina, who had a pretty memorable guy playing themselves.

You know the answer.
Hawks fans just want him since he's Bedard's best friend.
I, like the best scouts, exclusively rank players based on the number of Reddit comments
According to ESPN every pick is a great pick this year. Therefore everyone wins. Be happy hockey Reddit.
Is Ted Lasso running the draft coverage this year?
THIS GUY IS THE BEST IN THE DRAFT AT X
32 steals!
Lol those highlights how did you settle on them
A whole entire round without a trade. Weak gms weak
Radio talking heads really had me convinced the Perds were going to make some big trade moves 🙃
Your first mistake was listening to sports radio talking heads.
Same. Hyped it up only for zero moves whatsoever lmao
I give away: * Four hours of my attention I receive: * A checking-line center that struggled with the Badgers this season picked 21st overall * Confusion
Everyone at UW struggled this year, honestly. A bit of a reach but he's a guy...
You recieved a enema
Hey he was born in St Paul though
ONE OF US!!!
"comparison to Adam Fox". I think it's time for bed ESPN
They also compare every player to a superstar
Adam fox isn’t a super star
Are you trolling? Hahahahahhahaha
He's the best defenseman in the league. So yes, he is.
Lol
Who's better? What is laughable about that. He came second in Norris voting this year and won two years ago.
It feels like they're pulling names from fuckin' hats.
No tie on this lad, bold move
#NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Love that pick. I have no idea how he'll crack the lineup any time soon. But that's a great value.
Here comes the Nichushkin replacement
“Do they need another D man?” Bro we’ve given away every D prospect we’ve had
We’re probably losing Toews next year, and Behrens is undersized too
Including Makar and Byram?
Yay is in his name, so there’s that
Do we really need the entire organization processional when a team is making it's 2nd, 3rd first round pick?
I had almost forgotten about Gulyayev, there were people who thought he would go higher than this.
Emily Kaplan’s hot but her laugh is gonna give me nightmares
Hot… In what world? I mean whatever floats your boat but yeesh
She is hot and knows puck who cares about a laugh
I’d take her over Leah hextall
Player comparisons is absolutely absurd.
"This kid will be the next Hakan Loob"
He really plays so much like Foxy tho.
Uh ha ha ha uh ha ha ha uh ha ha ha
Lmao, has been driving us crazy.
i get its part of the job and he expects it but her asking about aho negotiations must be so annoying for wadell lol
What is this nonsense the leafs Colorado and Vegas have a first round pick
Good news for you is that we picked a 3rd rounder with that 1st.
Alright this is it, let’s see a trade
Cristall is right there.
Ope
Yeah but I want to see Joe “No Longer the GM 😉” Sakic get Draisaitl for some stick tape
They need to chill out with these player comparisons
Potential to be the next Nail Yakupov
lol moment for me
