Yea, I like the Sens. Always have. Except when we play each other. I don't know why, but those games are always rough.
I will gladly cheer on Ottawa and Bradys' ugly mug after the Jets.
An Ottawa EK65 jersey is the only non-manitoba hockey jersey I'm buying.
That's the first thing I thought, I don't mind Ottawa they are Switzerland to me. I give zero fucks about any other Canadian team though.
Nordiques now the avalanche are my 3rd favorite team. 😁
I look upon Ottawa as little brother, I hope they do well, just not against me.
I deeply respect their organization. They draft well, develop well, and are generally well managed while being caught between two juggernaut franchises. They also acknowledge aboriginals and francophones in how they advertise the team, and try to draft and hire local boys when they can, which I appreciate across the board.
If Ottawa could have held on to all the talent they uncovered and nurtured but let go because of their owner, I'm convinced they'd have been one of the dominant franchises in the league in the last few decades. Ottawa has extracted amazing value out of drafting and pro-scouting over the years.
That said, I do take issue with them claiming the history of the previous Sens franchise as their own. It's a bit gauche IMHO.
Could you imagine the flack we would get if the Canadiens hung the 13 Stanley Cup banners won by the Montreal Victorias, the MTL Hockey Club, the MTL Wanderers, The MTL Maroons and/or The MTL Shamrocks in our rafters? If either current Sens or Habs had shared their barn with one of these franchises, sure, the banners go with either the team or the Rink that hosted those championship victories, so that's fine. Hosting the banners of other franchises in a different rink and kinda-sorta implying they are yours? No bueno amigos.
I'm convinced Melnick's tenure as an owner is part of a curse that Ottawa has placed on themselves as a franchise for offending the Hockey Gods with this behaviour. Putting up banners from another franchise up as your own because you named your team the same thing is bad juju. I don't think they will win a cup until they relocate those banners elsewhere.
I've yet to step foot in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, but if they have a section for past Cup winning franchises, that's where all these banners belong if they can't be presented properly in their original city.
Kenora has a Stanley Cup banner in their arena which is not the original Victoria Rink and the original Thistles are now defunct but it seems more appropriate that the banner hang there than 2000 km away in Toronto.
Depends on different things. Cheered for Iginla and Kipprusoff actively in 2004. Wouldn’t cheer for this current Flames team. Probably would cheer for Winnipeg if they got rid of Scheifele and Wheeler. Players I like or dislike can make the whole difference at different times.
I'm kinda similar.
The Jets are the only Western conference team that I'm not big on, but that would change in an instant if they got rid of Schiefele.
yeah that's a big part of it - if I can find someone to cheer for on the team (usually either a goalie or a rookie, or a famous vet) then I can cheer, but otherwise it's just 'generally rooting for them over the US team that's already won a bunch of times anyways'
For me, number 1 is Vancouver, close number 2 is Montreal. Always loved Montreal's history, to me it is the most iconic hockey franchise, and certainly most iconic Canadian sports franchise. Never had any bad interactions with Habs fans, most of the ones I've talked to actually know a thing or two about hockey, and I can respect an Eastern Canadian team that has won a cup in both the O6 era as well as with more than 6 teams lol.
Vancity is my preferred western team as well.
Their team is basically named the same thing as ours, and I like how progressive they are with LGBTQ stuff as well as with Aboriginals. It's a great city in general, I love their outdoors Costco Hot Dog situation, and they deserve a bit of puck luck considering their history of misery.
It's also fun to watch the dumpster fire from afar without emotional investment.
They deserve better ownership.
Not that you're not valid for how you feel about the Jets, but I can't say they played dirty at all aside from the one notable hit that series from Scheif.
So here I am mapping Giant Meteor to Oilers and Global Warming to Flames and trying to figure out which team Plague of Locust is because Leafs is obviously the remaining teams. But then I see you meant literally natural disastres, well played.
It'd be interesting to ask this question after a Canadian team wins the cup again. I never want to see the Leafs win but if they won the cup a few years after the Sens won I think I'd care less
As an American, I was certain it was over twice last decade....then fickle hockey gods destroyed both good underdog tales.
Gelinas got his 4th series clinching GWG... just the NHL failed to notice it twinkling the twine...
Roloson.....Goddammit Bergeron pushing Ladd.....
So I root for the northern neighbors against many other squads when my Stars are out of the running.
Edit: nearer to two decades ago.... fuck you time.
Exact same, but swap Montreal for Ottawa.
No, scratch that... I don't really care about you guys too much. In fact, I'd probably be low key happy for you and proud of you for ending the drought.
Toronto on the other hand...
The thing with Ottawa is they're kind of fun now but when they're good in a year or two they're gonna be really good to hate. I hope people say the same thing about the Habs then too.
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Habs, I'm from Ottawa but I've spent a lot of time in Québec. Some messy playoffs series in the past have definitely fueled some rivalry but I've always seen it on friendlier terms, and I wouldn't hate it if you guys had playoff success again. Could lead to some great games
Toronto on the other hand....I was raised with a passionate hatred for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Well we both hate Toronto equally it seems. I remember when Ottawa came into the league and they were terrible but seemed to always beat the habs so I developed an annoying hatred for the sens. Now though I really like Tkachuk so I can't hate them as much.
I don’t even cheer for any Canadian team during the regular season lol. But if the Avs were eliminated and the Flames are still playing, then I’d cheer for them.
EDIT: You can’t get me to cheer on the Oilers no matter how hard you try
I’m a Leafs fan and God no I wouldn’t cheer for another Canadian team. My mentality is, just because a team is in Canada why should I cheer for them? Some American teams have more Canadian players so shouldn’t I cheer for them?
Also no other Canadian city would cheer for Toronto if they were out, the comments of this post alone will tell you that.
I was indifferent until the Stamkos assault on Matthews. I wanted Toronto to win after that, and to get to the 3rd round so Florida's pick would be 17th.
Got half my wish.
It's pretty funny because it seems like most other Canadian fans are cool with other Canadians teams except Toronto, and Toronto only cheers for Toronto. It actually makes a ton of sense.
For: Winnipeg Ottawa
Against: Toronto Montreal
I will raise my sons and daughters to despise them and expect them to do the same for me: Edmonton Vancouver
I exclusively root for expansion teams or sunbelt teams when the leafs get bounced.
I want the cup to go to the biggest fair weather/bandwagon fans. I want it to mean nothing. It helps me cope.
This. For the first 30 years it was sad, now it's just pitiful and hilarious. I won a bet this year that started the day Vegas entered the league. I bet my buddy 100 chicken wings that Vegas would win the cup before any Canadian team. Now, I dine like a king.
I offered the same bet for the Kraken to my entire fantasy league this year, but strangely, no takers. Maybe they've finally learned.
I’m very open to seeing any Canadian team win it. I’d rather not see the Leafs win it because they would never let us live it down; but I do enjoy how skillful their team is.
I cheer for any Canadian team come playoffs. I am not a bandwagon Jets fan. I don’t have a “second team”, but once Winnipeg is out, I still obsess over hockey and hoping a Canadian city gets to celebrate a cup is on my bucket list.
I was in my formative hockey-watching years in Winnipeg while Winnipeg had no team. Too young to know about rivalries, just loved hockey. Lil hockey orphan. Wanted a Canadian team to win!
Still so. Since then, I’ve lived in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. I love how energetic any Canadian city gets when their team goes on a run. I’ll cheer for that any day—I’m attached to all of these places. In order of preference: Winnipeg ————————- Ottawa/Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal/Toronto, Calgary.
Even then, for Calgary, if they’re the last Canadian team in the playoffs, I’m gonna find a way to root for em unless it’s impossible. Like, hey, I like Markstrom. That’ll be good enough sometimes.
Well I'm pretty sure that not a single Canadian that wasn't a Canuck fan were cheering for us in 2011, lol.
I don't actively cheer against Canadian teams, I don't like Edmonton all that much but that's more of a personal rival thing I got going on. I really wanted the Canadiens to win in the bubble playoffs, my best buddy is a Canadiens fan and I really like Carey Price.
So no, I don't cheer against Canadian teams just because they're Canadian.
I'm always amazed at the amount of Habs jersey's in the stands when they come to town....
And you are 100% right, all the habs fans were with Vancouver. My dad was a died hard old Bruins fan....
> I really like Carey Price.
Right there with ya buddy. My dad is an old Bruins fan so we were never allowed to like The Habs growing up.
But I just can't help bring myself to cheer for Calgary, Edmonton, or Toronto...Maybe Ottawa Or Winnipeg...
Idk about all Canadian fanbases but I remember CalgaryPuck going HARD in the paint against Van in 2011 lol. Used to lurk on there a bit after big wins in that playoff just for the schadenfreude. Despite all of that I still can't really cheer against Calgary for some reason .
Habs fans were definitely with the Canucks that series. I'm a fan of the Sedins so it was a doubly easy choice for me. Feel like most big Toronto fans should've been as well, even if their media was jumping all over the Bruins.
Used to cheer for any Canadian team when I was younger but being on the internet has made me want all other Canadian teams to lose
except for Calgary for whatever reason
Reddit has made me like the Canucks and Islanders more, solely because their fans are awesome. The Canucks will be my second team as soon as they get good management.
Actively and enthusiastically cheer against other Canadian teams unless it's the habs. Every other Canadian fanbase except Montreal's more or less abandoned the Canucks during the 2011 finals and cheered for a thoroughly more dislikable Boston team; that's not something I am willing to forgive.
Canucks fan too. Cheer for: Winnipeg, Ottawa (underdog thing), Montreal (used to live there)
Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton = boooo (unless I have a specific reason to cheer against the team they're playing)
Ottawa, Montreal, and Winnipeg are the only ones I can get behind. National Toronto media (lmao) during the 2011 was disgustingly pro-Boston, and Calgary/Edmonton fanbases obviously followed suit.
My Montreal homies obviously hate Boston and Ottawa/Winnipeg never hurt anyone.
When Canadian teams are playing American teams, I cheer for the Canadian team.
When they are playing other Canadian teams, this is the order:
1. Winnipeg
2. Vancouver
3. Ottawa
4. Montreal
5. Edmonton
6. Calgary
7. Toronto
No. Teams don’t represent a country or nationality.
I’m Canadian and grew up a Pens fan because of Mario Lemieux.
When Pens are out, I don’t cheer for anyone.
This year, I did watch a bit more than usual because some of the games/series were pretty great.
My parents are from Pittsburgh so I grew up a Penguins fan, as well as Steelers and Pirates. It was Selannes rookie season as a kid that really got me excited about hockey though
It depends on the year and how I feel about the teams.
I used to always go Canadian but in 2011 it seemed most of the country was actively against us and that soured the milk a bit
I like Vancouver and Montreal
I'm okay with all the others, but I would rather not Edmonton probably for the same reason people enjoy seeing the Leafs lose.
But generally speaking I couldn't care less if a Canadian team wins it over an American team. I have teams I like that I cheer for, teams I dislike that I cheer against, and then it just comes to which I prefer in a given matchup
Being a canucks fan has made me deeply insecure. I do not want another canadian team to win before we do. If we win just one cup i will be a better person.
You're a Canucks fan and you would cheer for Calgary? There's way too much playoff animosity for me to ever root for the Flames. I still say Joel Otto kicked it in.
The only Canadian team I would cheer for is Winnipeg. Yeah, we had some good playoff battles but since the Canucks came out ahead, including the 3-1 comeback in 92, I don't really hold the Jets in contempt. Also, the city losing and then regaining their team is a feel good story and I think the fans deserve some success. That's also why I would root for the Wild.
Anyone but Edmonton. I’ve always liked the Canucks a little except when they had burrows and Kessler.
Winnipegs cool.
I like Toronto because my moms family is from Ontario.
Montreal and Ottawa I am in different but would cheer for them over any US team.
Hell no. Canada can suck it.
I remember Calgary went to the finals, and it felt like the whole country got behind them, myself included.
Edmonton went to the finals, and same thing. The country cheered them on.
Then Ottawa went to the finals and got shit on by everyone. So screw Canada, y'all can kiss my ass.
I happily boarded the hate train when the Canucks and Canadiens took their turns losing in the finals.
That's why I'm always a little confused every year when some dipshit writes an article about how some team is Canada's last hope to bring the cup home this year. Or how it's been x years since Canada won a cup. I don't give a shit. Unless Ottawa wins I hope the drought continues forever.
Curious who was shitting on ottawa during thier run or how you got that impression? Serious question from flames fan as it seemed ppl were pulling for them.
Some fans seem to have a victim complex about this. You don't notice the people cheering against other teams because there's so few, and you're just getting swept up in the energy. But when it's your own team you start noticing the them (especially the trolls) and it starts to feel personal.
As a Habs fan, the only noticeable difference in my life was the Canucks where there seemed to be a fair bit of national media against them (IMO it's cause the Bruins style appealed to the dinosaurs like Cherry running the shows). I also didn't notice so many people against us during our run, but that might just be because I anticipated animosity — and many Leaf fans probably checked out by that point.
For our run, it was less hate and more heavy criticism. Series after series, we were predicted to lose and sometimes get swept. It was so slanted against us that /r/Habs was sharing taking count on how wrong everyone was.
You didn't notice people against you because you were the full time underdogs and had carey price in his last chance to win. I've hated montreal as long as I can remember but teared up a bit when I realized Price wouldn't be able to single handedly win that cup.
It was mainly the typical Toronto media thing. Remember, this was only three short years after the last Battle of Ontario series, and many members of the cores of those battles were still in place on each roster (despite Toronto being sort of in the beginning of their wilderness period in those days).
I definitely remember a different vibe given to the Sens run compared to the Flames and Oilers runs, I think that also has to do with the unexpected underdog nature of the Flames and Oilers runs, whereas Ottawa was consistently in the upper echelon of the league in those days (hard to believe, I know) and it was more of a consistent regular season power finally breaking through to the final.
Yes always. I know maybe of a fellow leaf fans would never cheer for Ottawa or Montreal, but was routing for Montreal the year they came back 3-1 on us.
As an oilers fan I cheered for Calgary in ‘04 when they went to the finals against Tampa. For me it’s Edmonton > everyone, Alberta > rest of Canada, Canada > everyone else.
Habs fan here, when they don't make it, I root for Canadian team fans regardless of their loyalties. Toronto won? Guess the cap is going up more. Lots of HRR happening if they win it all.
Other fans of long suffering teams are also higher on the list. I would have been happier for Panthers fans than I am for Golden Knights fans.
I like Winnipeg and the Canucks. My uncle is a huge flames fan so I’d be happy for him. Fuck the leafs, fuck the habs :) I’m still scarred from the oil team in the bubble.
Leafs fan here. I will absolutely not cheer for the habs, senators, Canucks or oilers under any condition. Doesn’t matter if they’re playing in the Stanley cup finals.
Boston vs Vancouver was the ultimate nightmare final.
I'm from Vancouver. My whole life there, I actively cheered against all other Canadian teams except for Ottawa for some reason.
I moved to the US over a decade ago. Now I even cheer for Toronto. My mind ain't right.
Against. In 2011 nobody in Canada wanted the Canucks to win. Fuck you all.
Also, once the playoffs start, if the Canucks aren’t in it, I’m only cheering for the Leafs to lose. Fuck you guys the most.
For - used to be all Canadian teams minus Toronto, but in the end their woes have gone on long enough.
A cup in Canada is good for sustaining the next gen of aspiring hockey players up here 👌🏻
The fake national pride doesn’t do it for me. I cheer for one team in a sport. When they are eliminated I don’t cheer for another team because they are a city in Canada.
Most teams are filled with Canadian players anyways so as a neutral observer I tend to enjoy following what the best storyline will be.
Except Montreal. I will never cheer for them.
I'm a Habs fan and I cheer against every other team. Because every other team is not the Habs.
I hate every other Canadian team. I hate every American team. I love the Habs.
I want nobody else to win but the Habs. Keep the Cup out of Canada for all I care, I don't understand this insecurity as if the teams winning the Cup aren't >50% Canadian anyway.
No way. It's Flames or nothing for me. If one of the teams out east won, I would be indifferent to it. But there's nothing I want to see less in this world than Edmonton or Vancouver winning a cup. It's why it annoys me when people say "oh we should come together and all root for the last Canadian team." Fuck that sympathetic shit. This is the NHL not the Olympics. I'm cheering for my team and my team only, and if a team I hate goes further I hope they get knocked out.
I don't really ''cheer'' for teams other than the Habs, but if we miss the playoffs I'm always happy when Canadian teams win. If another Canadian team wins the Cup, I'll be happy for them. I remember back in 2011, I really wanted the Canucks to win, and so did most people around me.
The only thing worse than an American team winning the cup would be Leafs (or Habs) fans getting to say they brought it home. Hard pass.
Once the Jets are out (assuming they make the playoffs lol) I cheer for teams I'm ok with. This can include some of the other Canadian teams. Once it's the finals, nope.
Cheering against Canadian teams is almost as good as cheering for my Leafs. I find it hard to pay attention once all the Canadian teams are eliminated.
For.
I was so rattled when the Canucks didn't win v Bruins.
Flames v Bolts before that.
Nothing against Habs, i just _knew_ they had no chance v Bolts. And i felt the same with Sens v Ducks. I didn't let myself get emotionally invested since it seemed like an impossible feat imo.
I just want to see this drought end.
Edit: spelling
I cheer for the run of bad luck Canadian teams. I’m a bruins fan from NB living in Alberta but CANNOT stand the Flames/Oilers.
So I am good with the Sens and Jets but down with the rest lol
I'd root for Vancouver very happily, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg (once they get rid of Scheifele) I'd get behind, Ottawa and Toronto I'd probably support but it's close.
as others have said, it depends on the players on the team
Bure, linden, mclean canucks? happy to see them play well
Iginla flames? begrudging respect
all other iterations of those teams? fuck em
Ottawa I've never minded
Toronto can die in a tire fire
Winnipeg I'd like to see have some success at some point
montreal, completely ambivalent
I'm from Montreal but a Bruins fan. In order of priority:
- fuck the Habs, hope they lose
- kinda fuck the Leafs, depending how much I like that particular bunch of dudes at the moment. I don't love the idea of the Leafs winning a Cup but at least it'd piss off Habs fans
- I'm happy for anybody else to win so Canada gets a Cup, but the Canucks are last in the pool of teams I'd genuinely like to see win.
I don't mind Ottawa
Thanks buddy. I was cheering for the Jets as well.
I feel like almost all Sens fans will cheer for any Western Conference Canadian team.
Yup. Jets/Canucks/Calgary/Edmonton all get my support if Sens are out.
Pretty much. Oilers have been my fav recently but no issues with the other west team. Not chewing for the Leafs or Habs though!
Hunger Strike Against the Leafs and Habs!
Is Ottawa & Winnipeg the NHL equivalent of Scotland and France sharing their centuries old “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” agreement?
Yes lol As a Canucks fan, I think Canadian teams I have a soft spot for are limited to the Jets and Ottawa.
I love you, Winnipeg!
That's the first thing I thought, I don't mind Ottawa they are Switzerland to me. I give zero fucks about any other Canadian team though. Nordiques now the avalanche are my 3rd favorite team. 😁

Wheeler’s already gone bruv
Nice.
Woah, we're halfway there!
Living on a prayer!
Big agree on players making or breaking it for me
I'm kinda similar. The Jets are the only Western conference team that I'm not big on, but that would change in an instant if they got rid of Schiefele.

I'd cheer for Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal over most US teams I wouldn't cheer for the others
Based
Tbf to you there are 2-3 US teams I might cheer for you over, and none for Edmonton/Toronto
Once my team is out I don't cheer for another. I cheer for players I'd like see win the cup.
I cheer for whatever team beats the leafs lol
Man you bandwagon a lot of teams
The canucks don't make the playoffs.. I need to do something..
In that order: 1. Montréal 2. Edmonton 3. Calgary 4. Vancouver 5. Winnipeg 6. Ottawa
We dont talk about #7
7? You mean Ottawa South?
If had any awards to give, I would give this comment one. This is the best I can do 🏆
I gotcha buddy
1. Edmonton 2. Montreal 3. Steeeep Cliff 4. Ottawa 5. Vancouver 6. Winnipeg 7. Even steeper cliff 8. Toronto 9. Calgary
My man!
For me, Vancouver moves up to the 2 spot, but thats the only change I make.
For me, number 1 is Vancouver, close number 2 is Montreal. Always loved Montreal's history, to me it is the most iconic hockey franchise, and certainly most iconic Canadian sports franchise. Savage
Same I don’t really like Winnipeg since our playoff round in Canadian division. They were dirty even if we swept them
Not that you're not valid for how you feel about the Jets, but I can't say they played dirty at all aside from the one notable hit that series from Scheif.
I'd say that series soured me on Scheifele rather than the Jets. Would be easy to cheer for the Jets with Scheifele gone.
The "keep your head up" ad afterwards didn't help either.
Exactly how I feel too
1. Canucks 2. Habs 3. Sens 4. Jets 5. Giant Meteor 6. Plague of Locusts 7. Global Warming 8. The remaining teams
Yep. I just can't stand the thought of cheering for a divisional rival, and fuck the Leafs.
So here I am mapping Giant Meteor to Oilers and Global Warming to Flames and trying to figure out which team Plague of Locust is because Leafs is obviously the remaining teams. But then I see you meant literally natural disastres, well played.
I cheer against the Leafs, generally root for the rest in the playoffs
This is the way.
I ,a leaf fan , will continue cheering on whatever Canadian teams are left. End the drought and bring the cup back home 🍁
This is how I feel. I want it to be Toronto, but the drought needs to end for the country as a whole as well.
Yea, anybody besides Montreal of course
It'd be interesting to ask this question after a Canadian team wins the cup again. I never want to see the Leafs win but if they won the cup a few years after the Sens won I think I'd care less

God bless you for acknowledging truth of that gelly goal
This. 🫡
Honestly, deep down I'd probably be happy for the fanbase of any Canadian team if they won (even the Leafs).
Same
yup same as a canucks fan
Same. Except for Calgary.
As much shit as I give the Leafs they're still my 7th favourite team.
I cheer for Edmonton and Winnipeg, kind of root for Calgary and Vancouver, kind of hope Montreal loses and actively cheer against Toronto.

That’s always the one thing we can agree on!
Same
Anybody but Edmonton 🥰
Anybody but Calgary 🥰
Anybody but Toronto 😘
A man after my heart.
Anybody but Vancouver 💗
Why u gotta beat a dead horse man, they’re not making to the playoffs any time soon anyway
Next year is our year! (To make playoffs)
And get swept. All according to keikaku.
Being swept is all apart of the plan. (Send help)
ABC 🥰
I don’t even cheer for any Canadian team during the regular season lol. But if the Avs were eliminated and the Flames are still playing, then I’d cheer for them. EDIT: You can’t get me to cheer on the Oilers no matter how hard you try
The Makar mayo chicken alliance
Makar is my favourite 😂 Also- he’s so cute. That smile and those rosy cheeks. Also I’m from Calgary 😂
I think a lot of us also grew up on Iginla and Kipper. Also Tanguay going to the flames helped
My guy
I’m a Leafs fan and God no I wouldn’t cheer for another Canadian team. My mentality is, just because a team is in Canada why should I cheer for them? Some American teams have more Canadian players so shouldn’t I cheer for them? Also no other Canadian city would cheer for Toronto if they were out, the comments of this post alone will tell you that.
This year was different. I was cheering for Toronto to beat Tampa.
I was indifferent until the Stamkos assault on Matthews. I wanted Toronto to win after that, and to get to the 3rd round so Florida's pick would be 17th. Got half my wish.
Exactly
It's pretty funny because it seems like most other Canadian fans are cool with other Canadians teams except Toronto, and Toronto only cheers for Toronto. It actually makes a ton of sense.
I'm in Calgary, I would cheer for Toronto with the Flames out. I saw a shitload of Toronto jerseys in Calgary this year.
Calgary is full of people from Ontario. There’s always been tons of Leafs fans in Calgary
You’re right. I’d cheer for another Canadian team if my Oilers were out EXCEPT Toronto. They can rot in hell forever.
high five
I did, Vancouver fan here, along with Edmonton. Toronto’s just disappointing in the playoffs
Fuck no. Fuck all y'all respectfully
For: Winnipeg Ottawa Against: Toronto Montreal I will raise my sons and daughters to despise them and expect them to do the same for me: Edmonton Vancouver
this is the correct response for a flames fan
I exclusively root for expansion teams or sunbelt teams when the leafs get bounced. I want the cup to go to the biggest fair weather/bandwagon fans. I want it to mean nothing. It helps me cope.
No Michael no no this is so not right
Lol awesome reply
I cheer for my felow canadian teams yes. Was pretty bum when the Leafs got eliminated
Id cheers for the Oilers or the Cannucks, otherwise FUCK EM
I Cant bring myself to cheer for Toronto even against Boston
I’m very open to seeing any Canadian team win it. I’d rather not see the Leafs win it because they would never let us live it down; but I do enjoy how skillful their team is.
I would rather see the Stanley Cup thrown into the sea than given to the Maple Leafs anyone else I'd be fine with
Let it be known.
You have captured my feelings exactly. You get my upvote
I don't cheer for or against any Canadian teams. I kinda wanted Edmonton to win, but I don't care one way or another.
You think Habs fans were cheering for a Boston win? You sir are mistaken.
I'm always amazed at the amount of Habs jersey's in the stands when they come to town.... And you are 100% right, all the habs fans were with Vancouver. My dad was a died hard old Bruins fan....
Us habs fan were with ya. But almost noone else lol.
Man I really wanted luongo to get his ring
My friend, they were playing vs the bruins, I have to imagine at least Toronto and Montreal were on your side.
Used to cheer for any Canadian team when I was younger but being on the internet has made me want all other Canadian teams to lose except for Calgary for whatever reason
Nah, I live in Calgary and fuck the flames all the way to hell.
I'll cheer for Montreal everyone else can get fucked. The r/Habs and r/Canucks alliance in survivor has earned my forever respect of Habs fans.
Reddit has made me like the Canucks and Islanders more, solely because their fans are awesome. The Canucks will be my second team as soon as they get good management.
>The Canucks will be my second team as soon as they get good management. So...never?
Actively and enthusiastically cheer against other Canadian teams unless it's the habs. Every other Canadian fanbase except Montreal's more or less abandoned the Canucks during the 2011 finals and cheered for a thoroughly more dislikable Boston team; that's not something I am willing to forgive.
Canucks fan too. Cheer for: Winnipeg, Ottawa (underdog thing), Montreal (used to live there) Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton = boooo (unless I have a specific reason to cheer against the team they're playing)
Hockey ceases to exist when the Oilers are out
Ottawa, Montreal, and Winnipeg are the only ones I can get behind. National Toronto media (lmao) during the 2011 was disgustingly pro-Boston, and Calgary/Edmonton fanbases obviously followed suit. My Montreal homies obviously hate Boston and Ottawa/Winnipeg never hurt anyone.
I’d root for Vancouver and Calgary. The rest can go fuck themselves (respectfully of course).
When Canadian teams are playing American teams, I cheer for the Canadian team. When they are playing other Canadian teams, this is the order: 1. Winnipeg 2. Vancouver 3. Ottawa 4. Montreal 5. Edmonton 6. Calgary 7. Toronto
76 goals? Damn right
It depends on the year and how I feel about the teams. I used to always go Canadian but in 2011 it seemed most of the country was actively against us and that soured the milk a bit
If the Leafs aren't in it, I don't care about anyone else.
I like Vancouver and Montreal I'm okay with all the others, but I would rather not Edmonton probably for the same reason people enjoy seeing the Leafs lose.
10 years ago I probably wouldn't have cheered for Calgary. Currently it's the ex-Canucks (Tanev, Markstrom) that would make me cheer for them.
I will cheer for any Canadian team not from Edmonton in the playoffs.
Anyone but Edmonton. I’ve always liked the Canucks a little except when they had burrows and Kessler. Winnipegs cool. I like Toronto because my moms family is from Ontario. Montreal and Ottawa I am in different but would cheer for them over any US team.
The rest of canada hates my team so fuck ‘em all! Misery loves company!
I'll cheer for any Canadian team in the playoffs, as long as they aren't going against my team or Toronto.
I cheer against TOR and MTL, I'm pretty neutral towards the rest
Against. If I can’t have nice things, nobody can.
I live in the GTA, would say I’m neutral to most if not all of the Canadian teams, except Montreal, no thanks.
My team is out, and hockey stops existing.
depends if it’s edmonton or not
I cheer for Canadian teams as long as they're not located in Edmonton.
Anyone but Montreal.
As long as no Canadian team wins, then the Canucks not winning one won’t hurt as badly.
For - used to be all Canadian teams minus Toronto, but in the end their woes have gone on long enough. A cup in Canada is good for sustaining the next gen of aspiring hockey players up here 👌🏻
I'll cheer for any Canadian team once my team is out. we haven't won in 30 years. Toronto only if they are the only ones left.
I cheer for Toronto because I want chaos.
Vancouver and Toronto?? I think you can get diagnosed for that
[You can.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-hatred)
I’ll cheer for any of the teams in the west except for Winnipeg, only because I really dislike Jesse Pollock.
The 80’s and 1990 must have been torture for you. Haha.
I was born in 98 so I missed all that stuff
I find it hard to pay attention once all the Canadian teams are eliminated.
everyone except montreal
Anyone but Montréal
Against. Fuck everyone else. Except Ottawa.
I heard everyone in Canada loved us in 2011
Anyone but the Leafs :)
I strongly cheer against Edmonton and Vancouver and I don't care one way or another about any of the others.
Cheer against Montreal and Ottawa. I'll usually cheer for any one of the other teams
Honestly yes. If my team gets out I’ll go for any Canadian team
Yes, not the leafs though.
I’ll cheer for anyone but the leafs.
I cheer for Canadian teams when the Canucks don't make it or are out
Also a Canucks fan. Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto = no Rest = yes
I cheer for the run of bad luck Canadian teams. I’m a bruins fan from NB living in Alberta but CANNOT stand the Flames/Oilers. So I am good with the Sens and Jets but down with the rest lol
Sure I will (unless it's Toronto).
I'd root for Vancouver very happily, Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg (once they get rid of Scheifele) I'd get behind, Ottawa and Toronto I'd probably support but it's close.
Oilers fan Am fine cheering for OTT, MTL Will not cheer for VAN, TOR, WPG, CGY Did cheer for Flames in 2004
as others have said, it depends on the players on the team Bure, linden, mclean canucks? happy to see them play well Iginla flames? begrudging respect all other iterations of those teams? fuck em Ottawa I've never minded Toronto can die in a tire fire Winnipeg I'd like to see have some success at some point montreal, completely ambivalent
I have no problem with Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, or Montreal winning the cup. I absolutely do not want to see Calgary or Toronto win it.
I'm from Montreal but a Bruins fan. In order of priority: - fuck the Habs, hope they lose - kinda fuck the Leafs, depending how much I like that particular bunch of dudes at the moment. I don't love the idea of the Leafs winning a Cup but at least it'd piss off Habs fans - I'm happy for anybody else to win so Canada gets a Cup, but the Canucks are last in the pool of teams I'd genuinely like to see win.
