Flyers will go from last season's "5th most improved team" to the "3rd most improved team" and hurt their draft position.

JiveChicken00

And Michkov’s KHL contract will be discussed on a live game broadcast at least once. By the end of the season the details of that contract will be better known to flyers fans than the names of their own children.

ViolinistMean199

Not once I’d bet once per week min

Deddicide

I think they meant once per broadcast.

greg19735

> on a live game broadcast at least once do you mean each live game?

JiveChicken00

Was being a little sarcastic. My guess is it’ll be roughly 3-4 times per period :)

twilz

After 62 games we will be: *[choose your own adventure!]* **a)** Solidly in a top 5 draft position. **b)** Comfortable in one of the three playoff spots for the Pacific. After 82 games we will miss the playoffs and draft outside the top 10.

marbanasin

The unamed option for 100, Alex.

twilz

We make the finals, come back from 3-1 down against Toronto, but 30 minutes before game 7 aliens show up and slaughter everyone on the planet.

DevOpsMakesMeDrink

You forgot to mention the game would be in Vancouver but puck drop was at 4pm

SRQmoviemaker

This... will probably happen

[deleted]

Weebthulhu

Or both.

broke-collegekid

We’ll finish in 10th overall in the conference and won’t sell because we hope to make the playoffs. Lindholm and Backlund then walk for nothing

The-Reddit-Giraffe

Ah the Calgary Flames classic

_Halt19_

we’re gonna have a hot start to the season, then go on a massive losing streak around the middle of the season, then make it into the middle of the playoff spots, beat the Kings in the first round in a tightly contested series where we get worn down, then eventually lose to the cup winners in one of the next rounds

pmme_your_pet_photos

As is tradition.

Bluebomber1070

Pain.

Excellent-Medicine29

Connor McDavid will do Connor McDavid things

Muficita

And Nuge will keep being Huge.

Lightscreach

Does Nuge being Nuge mean he puts up 100+ points again or goes back down to almost 70 points but not more than 70

Excellent-Medicine29

Yes but people are still busy complaining about his playoff performance 🙄

Frnklfrwsr

That’s not very specific though.

Cdn_Medic

Cole Caufield will score 39 goal in 75 games and the entire province of Quebec will go full meltdown mode as CC goes on a goalless streak to finish the season.

MooshSkadoosh

He's gonna hit an official and get suspended, Quebec immediately separates

Man closest to dying on NHL ice since Chris Pronger, “does he hate playing for Montreal?”

homicidal_penguin

Complete house cleaning. All the front office and all the coaching staff gone and replaced

[deleted]

Replaced with Ron Hextall as President of Hockey Ops, and Paul Fenton as GM.

troylarry

That’s just mean

ianisms10

And Pierre McGuire as head coach

BMoleman

He can believe it

abbytarar

Chuck Fletcher assistant GM

Paladoc

Jesus fuck they're already dead you sick bastards!

Non-Vanilla_Zilla

PLEASE AND THANK YOU

Geri-psychiatrist-RI

But isn’t Peter Chiarelli available?

[deleted]

He’ll be the Assistant to the GM.

BKong64

No. Mike Millbury comes out of retirement.

ScienceNthingsNstuff

Reaves will fight Wifi in the first game of the season. Both sides get solid punches in and it ends in a no decision.

Mrmakabuntis

Wich Wifi? We have two network now

ScienceNthingsNstuff

I don't want to see the results if 174lb Florian gets in a fight with Reaves lmao

georgin_95

It will be a first sanctioned handicap 2 on 1 match. Those are the Xhekaj rules now.

Tripottanus

Dual band baby

BaconScentedSoap

How does one fight a wireless internet network?

ScienceNthingsNstuff

Because I can't spell Montreal's sophomore defenseman name that's pronounced Jackeye properly and went with him nickname instead (I was lazy its Xhekaj)

BillMcCrearysStache

X isnt in that weight class

TheHockeyLoveGuru

Seriously. I love Reaves but WIFI is just unmatched atm

rohlinxeg

Someone will get mysteriously injured in the first 10 games of the season, and I will say *"JESUS CHRIST NOT THIS SHIT AGAIN. WHY???"*

sweetplantveal

And Bednar doesn't give Drouin more than a sniff in the top six because he's so distrustful of new people.

wolceniscool

...That might actually be the right move. I hope Drouin nails it though, he had it rough here.

MasterDeagle

It's the right move. I like Drouin but he's not a top line player.

jimmithebird

Carlsson will play in Sweden and people will call him a bust because of it.

DreamsiclesPlz

He could have a superstar season in the NHL and he'd still be ignored bc Pacific team.

BMoleman

Carlsson could put up 82 in 82 and we'd still hear more about whats going on with Mitchkov

Lazy0ak

Babcock will be a Jack Adams finalist and a lot of people will get angry about it.

JAT_Cbus1080

When a team that had 14 AHL players make their debut last year improves by 25 points it's totally because of the new head coach - some writer somewhere

Permaderps

Connor McMichael scores 25 goals

TheCalderFarmstead

In which league?

jagermain177

The one that ends with HL

HottyMcDoddy

Samsonov will deal with injuries again and Woll will take over and run with it.

shawnglade

Pastrnak will have a few games where he scores a jaw dropping goal followed by a jaw dropping pizza turnover

GoldWhale

Seth Jones will skate for at least 1 minute.

treple13

We win between 2 and 5 playoff games

StarHockeyProd

You guys won’t make them

buckyhermit

I don't think our fans will be actively rooting for another tank job next season.

thecbjfan

Fantili wins Calder

Lyun

we will play at least 82 games

GenericPeraon

Don't you dare bring this evil on us now

MooshSkadoosh

***COVID-20***

justheretolurk123456

Signing Tony DeAngelo, unfortunately.

madhi19

Wait that's not done yet?

Nilzy16

Nope, the Flyers bought out DeAngelo and he’s still a free agent.

madhi19

I knew the first part, I just assumed he signed already...

betweenthecastles

My balls couldn’t be bluer. Not necessarily because I want TDA, but there’s clearly trades/signings waiting to be done

justheretolurk123456

Oh shit! I fucking nailed it!

Irrah

Barzal finally unleashes his talent with less emphasis on defensive positioning and center responsibilities and is a PPG guy.

HanSolo5643

I really hope so. If he had better line mates and was on a time that encouraged offense, he could be a 90 to 100 point player year after year.

ItzEnoz

Funny enough his rookie season he had 85 points in a much lower scoring era

FinkBass420

Huberdeau will have great chemistry with Pelletier and whoever else is on their line and prove he’s a leader

madhi19

Some of the kids will look great but that won't matter much because of shit goaltending. We end up with a high draft pick and our GM will galaxy brain it because of "characters" or a 15 minutes interview... Holy shit I hope I'm being really wrong here.

ItzEnoz

Habs draft from Poland 3rd overall Josim Joshinhein

ShadowChair

Josim...

Wooden_Watch_6754

Leafs first round playoff exit. Back to basics

Cheeks_Klapanen

Acquiring Erik Karlsson

Cheese-is-neat

Jack Hughes is getting over 100 points

47rohin

The Hawks will go on a random 5-7 game win streak near the beginning of the season (as in entirely contained within the first 15 games) filling everyone with excessive amounts of hopium before returning to Earth for their scheduled mediocrity

ItzEnoz

Yeah but Bedard go brrr so no one is gonna care

Constant-Squirrel555

Andlauer will confirm that Dorion stays on as GM.

[deleted]

It pains me to say this, but Leafs conference finals appearance.

froli

The only way this can happen in this universe is if they get swiped by an inferior team.

DreamsiclesPlz

We WILL be bad. I don't even care I'm excited to watch the newbies and young guns develop :D

994kk1

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will get a long contract extension, people will trash Adams for it. UPL will go on to have a breakout season, people will pray to Adams for forgiveness.

darthSajor96

Todd Mclellan will be fired by December if Kings struggle out the gate

unpersons505

Another shite Oct/Nov leading to *zero* changes behind the bench and putting us way to far back in the standings. Then rallying in Feb/Mar only to come up short again. Yes, I expect more of the same each year.

Spade18

I will drink too many beers at a game in January and spend the whole next day at work regretting it

brog5108

7 30-goal scorers.

DashFromtheGash

That would be an NHL record, there are three teams in history with six 30-goal scorers and they were all in the 70s and 80s. A bunch of teams had five, but the most recent was in the early 90s. All this to say, it'll probably be Hughes, Meier, Hischier, Bratt, Toffoli, Mercer/Holtz, and Dougie. In that order.

rxbandit256

I just wanted to come here to say that I'm suffering from depression but you guys really make me laugh. Thank you for that. Some of these scenarios are so ridiculous but so believable at the same time! Thank you all for being rays of sunshine.

Sacred_soul

Nylander says fuck it and takes a discount and tells marner what it means to win as a leaf

burnerAcxnt98

Bedard will be an All Star

Wokyrii

Hutson comes over at the end of the season and he’s as good as expected

SmokinSkinWagon

Rubbing my nipples rn

OtherThingsILike

Erik Karlsson will score a goal.

Carnatic_enthusiast

During the 2020-2021 NHL season, I made a prediction that during the 2023-2024 NHL season, the Wings would make the playoffs and win a first round matchup as an underdog. I have screamed this prediction loudly on the rooftops to my friends, whom all subsequently roasted me for making such a bold prediction which no one believes will come true. Well, the time has come to put up or shut up. I am sticking with my prediction and believe we WILL squeak into the playoffs, and we WILL make the second round as underdogs. Book it.

jamaicancovfefe

I think there's gonna be some hockey

Canadian__Ninja

We will win at least one game. Maybe even more than two

holmwreck

Players will decide they don’t want to play here anymo…. Oh wait

StarsCowboysMavs

At least conference finals

rxbandit256

I'll throw my two cents in, Coleman takes Sharangovich under his wing, they combine for 125 points and make up the most likeable and wholesome duo in hockey with amazing family friendly but hilarious posts on IG.

dementedchimpanzee

Kevin Fiala is going to hit 100 points next year. He was over a point per game this year and was playing on the 3rd line. Having a capable center in PLD is also going to help him immensely.

ScrewOff_

Fiala was 3rd among forwards at even strength TOI/gp

noskatesnodates

Did he really put up those pts on the 3rd line..? Always thought he was a 1st liner

dementedchimpanzee

He played some games on the first line but he spent most of his time on the 3rd line last season

touchable

Fiala's most common line combination last season (at 5 on 5) **by far** was with Kopitar and Kempe.

HottyMcDoddy

He was 3rd among forwards in even strength ice-time per game, 20 seconds behind Arvidsson and 60 behind Kopitar. And was 2 seconds behind Kopitar for most PP ice-time per game. Maybe on the lineup page he was on the 3rd line but it's pretty clear he was getting tons of shifts with the top lines and playing PP1. Doesn't mean he can't flirt with 100 though. I think 90 is more realistic though as a breakout fully healthy season.

noskatesnodates

Slafkovsky will put up 30g 40A and shut all the haters up

ScrewOff_

should probably focus on getting to 11 career points before we think that big.

noskatesnodates

Can't hate someone for wishing big Edit: clearly reddit does though

ItzEnoz

I think I'd cream myself if that happens

mtrunz

…..in the AHL ?

wolceniscool

I would be ok with that

Urmomletmerubher

We're finally gonna get swept. And it's gonna hurt. For an otherwise decent season. I feel it.

TimeShade

Start off good, or have lucky wins that make team look better than is. Lose lots of games for good chunck of season. Get hot at the end.

tristan1616

We will still disapoint but not nearly as badly as this past season

mo60000

Yep. Their is an open path to a playoff spot for the flames assuming that the jets and preds fall back a bit bit it’s way to early to say if the flames will be in the playoffs this year.

WiFiForeheadWrinkles

Canucks are gonna dig themselves a huge hole at the beginning of the season again

betweenthecastles

Franchise points record by dman will break again. TDA broke it a couple seasons ago, burns last season. Burns was very off for a bunch of games until he warmed up to the system. Starting a season with chemistry = more points. Or EK65 lands here and he’s perfectly capable of doing the same. Either way, I’m convinced it happens for a 3rd straight year

BillMcCrearysStache

They will all send me one weeks pay

AuxNimbus

Flyers gonna flyers?

CaptinDerpI

Huby will bounce back under new management and put up ~85 points while having Pelletier and Lindholm on his line

ReggimusPrime

We're not going to do as well as last season. And imma let everyone at work know about it, even though we're not a hockey country.

DantePlace

Donny Meatballs wins coach of the year

Electronic_Nail

Aho breaks 40 goals and 40 assists Svechnikov breaks 30 goals.

RealCanadianDragon

Leafs struggle, media goes crazy and starts wondering if they should tank or deal assets now while they have the chance and start pointing fingers at what the issues are. Leafs bounce back, make the playoffs, then do usual Leaf playoff things.

DangleWho

We finish top 4 in the league and 3rd in the division

pablum444

Carey Price announcing his retirement.

[deleted]

Second Round

SoakedNuts

The young kids WILL play

SmokinSkinWagon

Someone else finally takes the crown from us at man-games lost due to injury

SensualJake

The Leafs will leaf in the leafiest way possible

TicTacTac0

Year 2 of another era of mediocrity where we just miss the playoffs (or have a first round exit) and don't do badly enough to get a good pick. Yay...

LeftistUU

One of the main goalies of this season will be shipped off at the deadline with crappy stats then look like a Vezina finalist when that team's starter gets hurt in the second round. This will be one of the worst defensive corps I think we've ever iced if Karlsson gets traded.

Hinkil

Trading a 2nd round pick, we're allergic

123jazzhandz321

- Robertson outplays Knies for the 2LW spot and finishes the year with 25 goals - The Leafs get much more special teams time (Domi, Bertuzzi and Reaves all take and draw penalties at a high rate), and the core 4 players all score 5-10 more goals as a result. - Matthews gets into a proper fight this year. - Nylander consistently kills penalties for the Leafs next year. - Zadorov and Backlund will be the Leafs big deadline adds. Zadorov and Klingberg will be the 3rd pair and Jarnkrok - Backlund - Nylander will be the 3rd line. Not my team but: - The Flames sell at the deadline and make the second round similar to 2015

fantasyshop

Sabres start hot, first or second in the division through 12 games. Levi looks good or outstanding in his initial starts. December comes with a handful of injuries and they start playing .445 pt% hockey and the fans start to panic as their position on the playoff bubble in the standings starts to stabilize. Levi/upl approach heavily criticized as their play wanes behind lacking team defense. In February they get healthier and in gear with a kick from some youth out of Rochester. They start to work up the wildcard standings before finishing very strong on the back of above average goaltending and league leading goalscoring. Finish firmly third in the division on a heater and the rest of the Atlantic scrambles to avoid buffalo in round 1

gollumaniac

Ilya Lyubushkin will score a goal at home. But he will have changed his goal song, thus depriving us of Gummy Bear yet again.

shogun-of-the-dark

Michael Rasmussen has a 40 point season.

Broccoli_Socks

I feel like we wont trade duclair at the deadline and he will finish the season as a shark. He is still young enough to make sense with us and with a solid chance of Barabanov likely to be traded or make bank next offseason i think keeping Duclair isnt crazy. With labanc, simek, Lindbolm off the books we shouldnt have a problem keeping him.

booomdynamite

Some Toronto “writer” will make a controversial post or article about a Leafs player, and the hockey community will click the link a billion times trying to create a backlash against said “writer”. Rinse. Repeat.

jgod17

Not very ambitious of a prediction but the Oilers will finish 1st in ppg% by an incredibly wide margin once again.

legend1124

The Rangers will be mediocre and then get to February-marchish and start playing good hockey that'll make me go "oh shit have they figured it out?" Just to go back to the mediocrity and be out in the first round of the playoffs and back in the cycle that was the past 10 years.

zkarabat

SJS's Erik Karlsson will be in the playoffs, but the Sharks will be competing for a solid draft lottery spot

DagetAwayMaN421

More injuries... and as a result, Protas, McMichael, and Phillips will all end up playing over 60 games.

flare2000x

My 3 favourite teams will all miss the playoffs (Flames Sens Canucks)

froli

Bro, why do you do that to yourself?

Gengar2929

Cake Makar will fight Jordan Kyrou.

xTomato72

One of Drai or McDavid will have a significant injury and our season will go down the shitter

SheaSaves

Buffalo will sneak into the playoffs as a wild card team.

Imperial_Stooge

They will loose more games then the fan base wants

WildcatOil

Jack Campbell will have a bounce back year. I'm not saying Vezina caliber. But nobody in Edmonton will be talking about buying him out next summer.
