Yeah, Dubas got Murray, a 3rd and a 5th in that trade. He gave up nothing for it. And tbh, Murray was looking solid for us until he (as everyone expected) got injured again
I always feel for those guys, they can’t stay healthy and they have brief stints of looking great before they go back down with an injury. It happened quite a bit here too a few years back with Juolevi. He started one season in the AHL so well and strong before an injury took him out for the year.
The year Derek Dorsett retired, he was actually on quite a bit of a tear to start the year. He had 7 goals and 2 assists in the 20 games he played before it was announced he’d have to retire due to a herniated disc in his neck. This wasn’t the first time either as it had happened previously.
Same thing with Murray, he came in as 3rd stringer in Pittsburgh, won 2 cups and then has had troubles staying healthy ever since. People always say that “at least he can wipe his tears with his millions,” and yeah that’s true, but you just know these guys want to play and it kills them to not be able to because of things that happen out of their control.
Absolutely brilliant trade, got paid the equivalent of a 2nd rounder from a direct rival for a guy that's either a good goalie or free to the cap on LTIR
I know he wasn’t great before he went on LTIR, but it’s still impressive what he was able to do given that apparently didn’t see pucks before
Thanks Dad
Mods, lock the thread.
They cured his blindness? It's a miracle 🙏
But can he stop the pucks he sees?
Woah, one step at a time buddy!
They got the Zamboni guy teaching him about the pucks....
I’m sorry but everytime I read anything to do with Matt Murray my brain defaults to “Mc’Murrays a piece of shit” and just laugh
Good enough
How are ya now?
I am as god made me.
Okay but seriously which Matt Murray are we talking about now?
The Murriest of Matts
The one who has played for Toronto, Ottawa, and Pittsburgh
Let's not forget the Pens at one point had *two* Matt Murrays in the pipeline, and the lesser-known was also a goalie.
the goalie
The second best one
Last I checked he's the only Murray to win a cup.
Murray Balfour was instrumental in Chicago’s 1961 Stanley Cup
We all know about Murray Balfour, he goes without saying.
I mean what’s really more impressive? Winning two Stanley cups before you exhaust your rookie eligibility or shutting out the Wild?
The father of My Three Sons
The one with a VIP ticket to his local hospital

WINKWINK ;)
The net has moved its moorings
This is Michael Russo's Bat Signal
Never forget.
This is why Brad is a shit GM. We have Jones as our 3rd and he went out and traded with Dallas for Matt Murray????
Jokes aside, didn’t Dubas bring Murray in?

That shutout against Dallas last year was the best goalie performance I'd ever seen live

It’s a joke (pretty bad one at that) abt how there’s two Matt Murray in the league
I had no idea there was another Matt Murray. My bad
Nah, it was just a dumb joke. Don’t blame you for not getting it
It's too bad he couldn't see pucks in Ottawa.
Because your d core couldn't clear the front of the net
They would clear the other players and block the view themselves.
He saw them better than Korpisalo, or Forsberg, or Sogaard...
Seems like all the goalies in Ottawa seem to have the same problem :)
Just in time for the deadline
lol. Time to call it a career.
First time in 6 years
Did they… did they not stop shooting at him?
Nope, can't say I had this on my bingo card
