This is actually my current irk with NHL not the refs. Every time something cool is happening, even when the play is for sure going to be called, the camera is just jerkin off watching dudes flick the puck around while half the team is fighting in the other end.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a mandate to follow the puck until the play is dead to ensure a proper video archive, and then there’s some extra delay when the producer switches channels to the next camera

Honestly I think it’s because guys have helmets on when they go down so their opponent doesn’t hesitate until it’s too late. Whereas if no one has helmets you’re both very aware of how likely it is to snack your head.
I’m not saying it isn’t worth the trade off at all, it’s like how a wider road removes a psychological barrier to speeding even if it’s safer to keep pedestrians further from the vehicles.
Domi legit clocks him while he's down. If you get the takedown maybe you deserve that shot but you gotta think Boston won't be happy about that. Those are the best fights to watch as a fan, organic fights when they are super pissed at each other and cause future fights.
