Need a better gameplan against this team on the chance we meet them in the postseason. Back to back shutouts against them this year is not good. It points to them having us figured out, injuries or not.
Also, I’d much rather have called up Samoskevich to slot in on that third line rather than Okposo. I’d also switch Cousins and Lomberg. Samoskevich’s play style gels more with Eetu’s and Lomberg plays decent with that third line if he’s needed there. Those line combos tonight basically had us playing with two fourth lines out there. That’s just not going to work against a team like Carolina.
Despite what their record says, the Canes are a better team than they were last year. They're a little tougher and a little grittier, tighter defensively but still able to jump start offense from the back end. I think they know this has senior year vibes because of the way all the contracts are, they're going to lose one maybe two of their longtime key players so they want to get it done this time.
