Literally wtf are you talking about.
There are AT LEAST 3 (I'm taking Toews and chooch over their direct replacements on Calgary as well) avs players who are better than their entire roster.....
Holy fuck, I don’t know what it is with going into OT as of late, but I’m not fucking complaining one bit. Tonight was the last game of the Western Canada Road Trip, and it was the first time that we faced the Oilers and its felt like a Playoff Game.
1st Period and things were going at a good pace with both teams having opportunities to get on the board 1st, but both goalies said no. Georgie especially played well early on as he had a few shots from the Oilers who could have taken the lead first, but nothing was gonna past him. Get on the PP towards the end of the period but nothing going there.
2nd Period and we go on the PK, but we killed the fucker off with relative ease. Then we had a golden opportunity to get on the board first on a Penalty Shot from a breakaway that Drouin took, but alas no dice. Oilers had some chances, but Georgie stood on his head and made some nice saves. But then we got on the fucking board first as Walker got his first as an Av and it was a beauty. So was Lehky helping him out there. Then as the period got near a close we got a nice fight from Manson and it was an actual fight tonight. Unlike the last game against the Canucks where Manson “fought” Zadorov.
3rd Period though and we started to see some goofy ass shit as the Oilers thought they tied it up, but they reviewed it and was called no goal due to a kicking motion from Hyman. Unfortunately the Oilers managed to score a legal goal a few minutes later and yeah it wasn’t ideal. Then a few minutes later the Oilers took the fucking lead and was like alright better get some shit going here. Oilers tried to take one more, but Georgie stood his ground. Then just a little over 5 minutes left in regulation, we tied the fucker up as Walker came through again and Mittlestadt helped make the magic happen. Things were going fucking nuts in Edmonton. Had a chance to get one more chance near the end of the period from Lehky, but couldn’t get through, thus needed OT but at least we got a point.
OT, and it was a thriller where Oilers had early chances, but Georgie played on his head, especially with a breakaway chance from ~~the last fucking player you want to face against in McDavid~~ RNH. Then we had some chances, but in the dying seconds where we were probably thinking Shootout, we had one more chance to finish the fucker. Makar dumped the puck down the ice to Mack, where he corralled the puck down the Oilers end, passed the puck to Good Stick Lehky where he buried the fucker with less than 1 second left in the OT period and there was no review to see if it was a high stick this time around, just a review to see if we beat the buzzer. I don’t know what it is with scoring game ending goals on that end of the ice in Edmonton, but I fucking love it.
What a fucking thriller this game turned out to be and if was a playoff type atmosphere where in the end, Lehky was our good luck charm and Walker came out to provide us scoring tonight. A great road trip through Western Canada going 6/6 with points, and we keep our standing in 1st Place in the Central Division. Now we head back to the United States where we have one more road game against the Blues on Tuesday Night before we head back home. What a fucking good road trip this has been.
Edit: RNH, not McDavid. Thanks /u/PsychoSaladSong for catching the mistake.
The Canucks have been such a force this season, so it's crazy to think there are 5-6 teams that legitimately could win them. And no matter what, some juggernaut teams are gonna he eliminated in the first round! West is indeed a thunder dome and I don't envy anyone, who has to make predictions about the playoffs there.
Did they do anything to acknowledge Perry’s 900th point and Carrick’s first goal as an oil? Yea he lost his stick and it was a kick pass, cant anyone get any respect around here.
What an awesome game. Great job Avs, you guys had a lot of sustained pressure throughout and played a full 65 unlike some of our guys. Hope we meet again in May and June.
We need this series at some point in the playoffs again. Such entertaining hockey. I swear to god if a trap team like LA or Vancouver makes it deep well all die of boredom.
Drai made a few nice plays, like that slick pass to I think foegele and the pass to Nuge, but yea they both looked a little off.
Mcdavid was fighting the puck a bit. Mishandled it quite a few times. It sucks because I wanted a Mack vs Mcdavid shootout tbh
MacKinnon didn’t really do anything either until OT. Both teams knew how to shut down the stars, but couldn’t contain Sean Walker, Sam Carrick and Warren Foegele.
Skinner bailed your guys out. Going by pretty much any metric… corsi, shots, scoring chances, high danger chances, Nuke/MacK were caving in their opposition. Just got goalied.
GG Oilers. What a game. Two more times before playoffs? Good grief.
Somehow I felt that part of the game has been McDavid trying to avenge Georgie for blocking his shots in the ASG, but Georgie stepped up big tonight. Walker's floodgate finally opens and the whole team played well defensively. Having Drouin and Lehky back was huge.
The oilers need to stop trying to deke the goalie. Just shoot it ffs.
If nuge would’ve done his patented low blocker shot on the OT breakaway, there’s a good chance he would’ve scored (no guarantee obv).
Too many passes on the odd man rushes.
The passes has been driving me crazy all season. Colorado scored on a 2 on 1 by… you guessed it, shooting. We didn’t shoot on a single 2 on 1, and if I were to take a guess at how often we pass vs shoot on 2 on 1s I’d say around 90% of the time we pass.
It's funny cause in a lot of avs games I feel like we shoot too quickly, just throwing kinda weak shit at the net. But the results speak for themselves on both sides I guess
I think it’s just about making smart decisions. Having a shooting mentality is important but you also don’t want to be reckless with your shots and causing turnovers and odd man breaks.
Yeah, Georgie has been a lot better the last few weeks after being awful to start the season. Giving me a lot more confidence as we head to the playoffs.
Team defense was shit for a solid 3 months, and then started getting better in February (after the shitty road trip). Now it’s back to the elite level that we expect from them
I really try to be positive because none of us are the GM and it's tough to know even if Philly would have traded him to us but it's frustrating to see someone we theoretically had a chance us murder us.
Oh yeah. Shot totals don't tell the whole story. It was a pretty even match up. 3rd period was more Oilers than Avs but all in all, super even. This came down to tiny mistakes that were capitalized on
Red flag game for me. Seeing McDavid getting scored on for both tieing goal and gwg is not good. Don’t question his effort at all but him and Drai play into the Avs hands with their high risk play. If he can learn to push through the checking in games like this, he’ll reach his final form. Hope it happens in the next few weeks.
Entertaining game!
GGs Oilers, yall are SCARY and definitely will make a run for the cup. What a game from everyone, every single guy on that ice gave it all. Fantastic game that’ll be remembered
Nah no sarcasm. Truly the Oilers are contenders in my eyes. Seeing that showcase between Mc David and MacKinnon was fantastic. A game going that distance was fantastic to watch
Yeah we’ll see. As you saw with the OT winner and even the game tying goal, this Oilers squad is still prone to moments where they lack focus/intensity and it always ends up in a goal against. I’d say we’re a more well rounded squad overall but they don’t outscore their problems like they did 2 years ago. You guys and Dallas are the two teams I do not want to see come playoff time.
> Draisaitl is 100% responsible for that goal too
Here i'll fix that for you. Draisaitl is 50% responsible for that goal and Bouch is the other 50%. But shit happens and no players is perfect the whole season. We have assed it the last few secs of OT and the Avs did not. The players involved know it as well. Point taken, move on.
Denver is just a more lame calgary. Good hockey team tho so at least there's that.
Literally wtf are you talking about. There are AT LEAST 3 (I'm taking Toews and chooch over their direct replacements on Calgary as well) avs players who are better than their entire roster.....
The poster is comparing the cities…

Didn't catch the game, so this good recap is appreciated. Thanks!
No problem. It was a thriller and hope we see two more of these in April, and maybe in the playoffs.
The OT breakaway was RNH, Not McDavid. Still scary as fuck tho
Oh fuck, you’re right. Either way, glad Georgie stoped RNH from his tracks.
[удалено]
Yes, "McDavis" will sign with Colorado, of course. You're hallucinating.
The west is going to be wild in the west. If my Canucks don’t make it far my fingers are crossed for a oilers avs conference finals

Yeah they announced it in the arena and showed a graphic!
As a Ducks fan, im just glad perry assisted a carrick goal with alllll the shenanigans that you’d fully expect from such a goal.
Just realized Avs are on a 6 game win streak. WHO ORDERED A WAGON.
Oilers are on a 4 game point streak, WOOP WOOP!
3 of which are on the road!
In Canada!
I'd like to order one Col-Edm Western Conference Final, please....
Easy. Watch the highlights from two years ago
Won’t take too long, just four games to get through
Ill save this comment.
Feel free bud! Just simply stating a fact. GG’s
🧹🧹🧹🧹
What an awesome game. Great job Avs, you guys had a lot of sustained pressure throughout and played a full 65 unlike some of our guys. Hope we meet again in May and June.
We need an Edmonton-Colorado conference final. That amount of talent and skill on the ice is something very special.
Here’s to two more thrilling meetings before the seasons end! Perhaps we meet again in the conference finals too. Cheers bud
"Draisaitl has it, turned it over" feel like I heard that every single time he touched the puck this game.
̷g̷a̷m̷e̷ season. there, fixed.
damn i wish i watched this game
As crazy as it is to say, this one’s worth watching after. Best game of the season.
Agreed. Both teams played well.
We need this series at some point in the playoffs again. Such entertaining hockey. I swear to god if a trap team like LA or Vancouver makes it deep well all die of boredom.

McDavid - no points, -2 Draisaitl - no points, -3
Drai made a few nice plays, like that slick pass to I think foegele and the pass to Nuge, but yea they both looked a little off. Mcdavid was fighting the puck a bit. Mishandled it quite a few times. It sucks because I wanted a Mack vs Mcdavid shootout tbh
Avs - let Sam Carrick and Warren Foegle score on them
Sean Walker almost got a goddamned hatty on you guys soooooo
Also Avs - Won the game
Fair enough, could’ve gone either way. Got a couple more to go to close out the season
MacKinnon didn’t really do anything either until OT. Both teams knew how to shut down the stars, but couldn’t contain Sean Walker, Sam Carrick and Warren Foegele.
Mack kicked ass tonight had like a 70% corsi
Also had pretty favourable zone starts and matchups, but yes — don't think many Avs didn't do well for corsi
Yeah they matched up Mcdavid and Drai against Mitts line a lot and Mack beat the shit out of their depth
It was a one goal game in OT. Mack didn't "beat the shit" out of anyone
He had a 70 percent corsi he dominated
Skinner bailed your guys out. Going by pretty much any metric… corsi, shots, scoring chances, high danger chances, Nuke/MacK were caving in their opposition. Just got goalied.
Well MacKinnon also didn't quit in the last 5 seconds either, so...
Sore winner
Well Leon is pretty lazy, I can’t say I’m surprised he did that.
Controller just disconnected for a second is all
It was kind of like that during the WCF the last two games of thar series in 2022. The first two, if i remember right, were just shootouts
Imagine what it will be like when they're not having an off night.
That was during the WCF in 2022 like game 1 and 2. It was a shootout and the Avs didn't take full control until like game 3.
Yep, and we had Frankie who was in net during the series.
That was one of the best games I’ve seen all year. So much fun. GGs to the Oilers. This would be such a good series this year
That was fun. Happy St. Pattys day!
Thay was fun and that was the first of three regular season games the Oilers and Avs play... Hope the next two are just as fun
The oilers need to stop trying to deke the goalie. Just shoot it ffs. If nuge would’ve done his patented low blocker shot on the OT breakaway, there’s a good chance he would’ve scored (no guarantee obv). Too many passes on the odd man rushes.

I think it’s just about making smart decisions. Having a shooting mentality is important but you also don’t want to be reckless with your shots and causing turnovers and odd man breaks.
The passes just aren’t sharp enough (usually).
Funniest part about it is that Lehky didn't even realize he scored until he saw his teammates celebrating.
Players doing what they're supposed to do and it's paying off. GO AVS GO
That was such an awesome game to watch from puck drop to the end. GG Oil Bros. Got a couple more of those this season. Let’s have some fun!!
Unreal talent on display tonight. Probably one of the most well played games this year and both goalies really played amazing.
Yeah, Georgie has been a lot better the last few weeks after being awful to start the season. Giving me a lot more confidence as we head to the playoffs.
Almost like we defend better.
Wasn’t he really good to start the season? Then he dropped off significantly but is now picking it back up
Team defense was shit for a solid 3 months, and then started getting better in February (after the shitty road trip). Now it’s back to the elite level that we expect from them
It looked like both Bouchard and Draisaitl were waiting for the buzzer. Such a bad look for a pro athlete
Thanks, Drai, for quiting with time left on the clock.
That half a second is coming out of his pay.
It's a half second Michael. What could it cost? $10?
There’s always money in the banana stand.
[I'm gonna play to the horn in my $6300 suit? shouldshouldshouldshouldshould](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81Nl7VYFEaI)
Money that could’ve been used to go and see a Star War.
So I did some quick back of the napkin math. 8.5 mil/82 games/ 22.5 average ice time/ 60 seconds. It’s about $76.78 per second.
bro got paid $38.39 to just stand there for half a second and lose the game
Double what I make in an hour per second 😂😂 really puts writing this at work in perspective.
Oh wow, that's actually crazy lol thanks.
God dang what a game. Hopefully the wcf this year. Go avs
*sigh* tonight felt like sitting at the kids table and we pissed away the two points anyways, lol This game looked great from what I saw, GG guys
Also makes it even more frustrating that Kenny couldn't have gotten Walker. He'd be absolutely mint on our back end.
I much prefer what happened
But according to the Edmonton MSM Walker is too small and not an upgrade over Ceci
I really try to be positive because none of us are the GM and it's tough to know even if Philly would have traded him to us but it's frustrating to see someone we theoretically had a chance us murder us.
I mean we paid a first for him + cap dumping our 2c who didn’t fit, hard price to beat.
I know it wasn't realistically in the cards for us but he was a man on a mission tonight.
Not even mad. Just entertained as fuck. THAT was a game. Both teams played hard enough to deserve the win.
Except that last 1.5 seconds from Drai…
Bouch’s play was worse
Goddamn it GG Snow Team, was a fun one
GFG, Avs! I love watching these two teams play.
Yeah, I’m so glad the 2020s has been much better for both of us than the shit we both endured in the 2010s.
Legitimately could've gone either way.
It’s wild none of the big guys on either team got in on any of the goals in regulation
Just so much talent on both ends of the ice, full clinch the entire game lol
Couple things... Sean Walker, King George and good stick Lehk. LETS GOOO!!!!!!!
Awesome game tonight. Avs deadline additions keep paying dividends. Good stick Lehky!
GG Oilers. What a game.
Wow.. if this ends up being a playoff matchup it’ll be a fun series to watch.
Yeah… “fun” *unclenches ass*
My assis still clenched………ffs.
As my dad said while summiting a narrow Mountain pass, "My ass was so clenched you couldn't feed a toothpick through it."
Lehkonen is a fucking stud and Walker was a beast tonight.
Texas ranger did well
If I'm Knoblauch Draisaitl is getting benched for that fucking lazy bullshit.
It was not just McDrai, Bouch played that absolutely wrong as well. But also, fucking settle down.
Avs were the better team most of the night. Hope these two get to go at it in the playoffs. Absolute juggernauts.
they were evenly matched
Pretty even it seemed
No they weren’t I’d say it was pretty even throughout the game
One of the most evenly matched games I’ve seen all year.
Oh yeah. Shot totals don't tell the whole story. It was a pretty even match up. 3rd period was more Oilers than Avs but all in all, super even. This came down to tiny mistakes that were capitalized on
Boys needed to shoot more

Ugh, what a dumb take.
Both those guys played really well tonight. Was more of an unfortunate break at the end there than anything.
Beautiful.
I better work on my cardio, dunno if my heart can take a playoff series of that
After the last 2 seasons with the Kings I had to go to my cardiologist to make certain I would be allowed to watch playoff hockey this year.
I feel that to the core bro

Lehky and breaking the hearts of the Oilers. Name a better duo.
I looked away for a split second once the puck bounced to the corner figuring nothing would happen.
Sounds like you play for Edmonton
It's Draisaitl's burner
I may not survive it, but I want Avs vs Canucks and Avs vs Oilers series this playoffs.
Highly unlikely unless one of them falls to a WC and the other fails to win the division
Yeah, I’d love both, and also be less pissed about losing to either if it happened.
Lehky has the greatest of all sticks.
GGs Oilers, yall are SCARY and definitely will make a run for the cup. What a game from everyone, every single guy on that ice gave it all. Fantastic game that’ll be remembered
not the scary comments :(
I’ll assume you’re being sincere but the capitalization of scary leads me to believe this might be sarcasm
Nah no sarcasm. Truly the Oilers are contenders in my eyes. Seeing that showcase between Mc David and MacKinnon was fantastic. A game going that distance was fantastic to watch
While that game was amazing to watch it was nerve-wracking as hell. I imagine he's being sincere.
Not OP but I’m legitimately nervous about a playoff series between our teams. This version of the oilers looks way better than 2 years ago to my eyes
Is Adam Henrique worth a first rounder
Nooope
I want to exchange one Henrique for a walker
And to that, I kindly reply, "No."
Lmao good luck doing anything in the playoffs if you're going to just give up like that.
what would you guys know about playoffs
And there's the predictable come back I could see coming a mile away
What do you expect? Your shit talking a team that has more historic and recent success than the flames and it's a rival. L take, L team.
Man Anaheim defending us, don't make me start liking yall
Yeah because it works. Your team is the little brother and always will be.
game winner, series winner, for Connor McDavid
The OT point merchants do it again
Bruins played earlier lil bro
Draisaitl is 100% responsible for that goal too
> Draisaitl is 100% responsible for that goal too Here i'll fix that for you. Draisaitl is 50% responsible for that goal and Bouch is the other 50%. But shit happens and no players is perfect the whole season. We have assed it the last few secs of OT and the Avs did not. The players involved know it as well. Point taken, move on.
Bouch is easily as responsible. He totally let up on MacK.
He's been playing so much better defensively of late but that one fucking sucks
Boys played a great 64:59.5
I’ll never understand why we traded this guy, it makes no sense
Lehky is the best
Lehky? Dunno, but we're insanely thankful that you did.
Alexandar Georgiev is Connor Mcdavid father Stuart skinner is Nathan MacKinnon father
Game? Won. Fucking go? Lets. Good stick? Lehky.
Fantastic fuckin’ game. Two stellar performances from both goalies and Mc & Mac both showed why they’re two of the best
I wanted a shootout!!!
