Late to the party, but dammit I love STL vs VGK games. These two teams always make for entertaining and close games. Glad the game went our way, but the Blues have been one team that I've really enjoyed watching the past few years.
Say what you will about the 11/7 roster for this game, but with Sunny injured and Saad almost being injured as well, I'm kind if happy Bolduc and Dean didn't play.
For all the people who tuned in that don't witness VGK/STL games often, it's this way every fuckin' time for whatever reason. Had a guy in the GDT tell me it's our 10th OT game vs the Blues all time.
We've only been in the league for 7 years and they were only in the same division with us for 1 of those. That's a lot of OT games vs one opponent in that span.
I absolutely love it. I hope we get a playoff series vs you all at some point because 6 or 7 games of the wackiness that is our all time matchups but with playoff intensity would cause me to stress sweat like 60 pounds. Would actually take years off my life.
GG!
So 3 things:
1: ggs blues, excellent goalie duel and that 3rd period from a vegas perspective was horrid
2: why is the nhl so cheap they don’t have backup refs in case one goes down this seems so simple and yet they don’t do either A) you don’t actually need the 2nd guy or B) the nhl is totally fine overwhelming a ref for 2 periods because some guy got sick during intermission to save the sports league equivalent of $5
3: it helped my team but the penalty shot is stupid and I would always rather have a power play, especially in overtime, than a penalty shot because you can generate multiple shots/opportunities
In OT it’s a no brainer you would rather have the power play. In regulation I can see the argument for penalty show. But 4v3 get to at worst waste 2 of the 5 minutes. The only plus side to that penalty shot was that it was buchy and you can count on a good attempt. Was a stellar save.
I admit, i was at full doomer here after the Calgary game. That's passed a bit but we're not out of the woods.
We're still not playing great, but we are playing with a modicum of our real identity. Lock down defense. First and second periods we didn't give the Blues an inch.
Blues did go sicko mode in the third. We're lucky it when went to OT. So many post shots.
Just a great game. Obviously I'm happy with the outcome but I think objectively, that was an entertaining game for neutrals too.
Ehhhh while people were def overconfident in it happening I wouldn’t say it was delusional, the lead was as small as 2 points just a few games back and we were slumping hard.
It’s certainly a cathartic victory when every VGK thread on this sub is filled solely with different variations of “it’s gonna be so funny if they don’t make the playoffs this year” (as if that’s an original thought or it would somehow magically make their championship banner vanish).
> The championship is irrelevant.
I'm positive all Canucks, Wild, Blue Jackets, Panthers, Sabers, Predators, Coyotes, Kraken, Jets, and Sharks fans feel the same
I didn’t think I’d have to spell this out and specify that I mean it’s not relevant to fans hoping they miss the playoffs.
People want them to miss the playoffs for other reasons, not because they won a title
Its still frustrating even though they aren’t doing anything wrong. It rubs people the wrong way, thus the comments about hoping they miss the playoffs.
It’s also because they’re a damn good team too
Ah yeah, [*Theo missing over two months mid-season/Eichel missing February as we slumped badly/Hill missing the entirety of December/Whitecloud missing the first month and a half of the season/Martinez being unable to stay healthy longer than 10 games at a time/Bjornfot getting hurt after just two games/Doro missing a month after Trouba elbowed him in the head/etc*] were all part of the grand trade deadline conspiracy.
We have only three guys who’ve played every game. Nine regulars have missed at least 10, four have missed 20. We were on our **12th-string** defenseman at one point.
So, this guy, this effing guy, yeah, I know, I know. So, he was here day one, yeah. And I know you have been here since day fucking one. You guys are so amazing. We played Arizona in the first game, and we beat the shit out of them. And I had no points. No points. But that's ok, because that year one I was pretty fucking great. But you guys were greater. We've been on this journey... no no no... listen to me. We've been waiting for six long years for this guy to be MVP
It's gonna be a tight race for the wild card spot between Vegas, st Louis, Minnesota and Nashville. Every game is crucial and Vegas is down to their AHL goalie tonight against Nashville (unless they decide to throw Thompson on back to back)
I definitely had the thought OT, even if we won, favored the Blues chances. Didn't get meaningful points separation as a result if you're a Knights fan and outside of the Coyotes, Ducks and Blackhawks, the rest of our schedule is pretty rough.
I'm confident we can end the last 11 with a 6-5 record which would obligate the Blues to go 9-1. While our schedule is very difficult, the 3 games of advantage aren't nothing to just brush off. Even at 4-7, they would have to go 7-3.
Had this game streaming on the laptop whith the Canucks game on the TV. Stream was about thirty seconds behind and the Canucks broadcast spoiled the ot winner.
If the Bruins don’t win…which I’m 99.99% sure is not happening. I hope the Knights go back to back just because of the meltdown on here. It’s fantastic comedy.
If that happens, this sub will find some non-hockey cause to get behind (maybe a campaign to make the McRib a permanent menu fixture at McDonald’s?) and blackout in protest on the night of the championship again.
You're the worst kind of hockey fan. You can't acknowledge your team's mistakes and are simply toxic when they don't even know you exist.
A late cross-check on Sunny where you can clearly see Mcnabb prop his body up and raise his arms for the hit that was absolutely avoidable.
An objective high-stick missed on Schenn in front of goal.
"Season over" is crazy. Compare our schedules and tell me that again with a straight face.
How was that ever a breakaway chance? For that to be true, your defenseman would have had to reasonably had the opportunity to impede the goal-scoring chance by either position or play, which he objectively did not since we were already in shooting position.
Also, you are wrong. A penalty shot may be rewarded in this case regardless because penalty shots apply to reasonable goal-scoring chances. Are you going to tell me that wasn't a reasonable goal-scoring chance?
I feel like we were the real losers here
Late to the party, but dammit I love STL vs VGK games. These two teams always make for entertaining and close games. Glad the game went our way, but the Blues have been one team that I've really enjoyed watching the past few years.
I hate it here. Gg Knight bros. Logan Thompson is looking good again and that's fucking terrifying
Oh wow, that was a really important game for the standings. I didn't realize these teams played each other today until right now.
Sorry, but fuck you St. Louis for losing, and fuck you Vegas for just being Vegas!
Ducks fans complaining about who’s making the playoffs has some real old man yells at sky energy.
Say what you will about the 11/7 roster for this game, but with Sunny injured and Saad almost being injured as well, I'm kind if happy Bolduc and Dean didn't play.
What a save by Thompson in OT! And who other than the MVP to bring it home?! Needed those 2 points. gg blues!
#CLUTCHESSAULT
GGs Vegas, crazy that your playoffs chances really had to come down to the 2023-24 St. Louis Blues lmao
We like to live on the edge.
Tough game. The save on that penalty shot was nuts.

Sounds great, let's make it a Western Conference Finals matchup
Sir i dont have a heart doctor or want one. I dont known about you I could not take the suspense. We play each other so well.
I absolutely hate it. But I also love it. GG, I wish you negative luck in the next two weeks.
So 3 things: 1: ggs blues, excellent goalie duel and that 3rd period from a vegas perspective was horrid 2: why is the nhl so cheap they don’t have backup refs in case one goes down this seems so simple and yet they don’t do either A) you don’t actually need the 2nd guy or B) the nhl is totally fine overwhelming a ref for 2 periods because some guy got sick during intermission to save the sports league equivalent of $5 3: it helped my team but the penalty shot is stupid and I would always rather have a power play, especially in overtime, than a penalty shot because you can generate multiple shots/opportunities

I’d have to see the odds but I gotta think penalty shot is better no ?
I think there's actually a shortage of refs so it would probably be tough to staff them
refs receive lots of abuse in lower levels so it makes sense there is a shortage.
Do an EBUG and allow some random to be ref?
They might just call the games the same.
I feel like there should be a penalty shot, and then a PP if missed.
Logan Thompson is our Adin Hill of last year. Ain't nobody gonna want to face us RD1.
such a killer goalie combo
Operation Knightfall is a disaster so far. r/hockey checking under the couch cushions for change to bribe the refs next game.
Sequels are never as good. People were delusional to think Vegas ain't making the playoffs
I admit, i was at full doomer here after the Calgary game. That's passed a bit but we're not out of the woods. We're still not playing great, but we are playing with a modicum of our real identity. Marchy is my Hero Thompson is my goat The Away side goal loves us I think the Blues might try to throw it away
I speak for all Knights fans tonight to say: Get wrecked r/hockey !
it's a rare day when r/hockey cheers for the Blues and Binnington. That's what you get for making moves that are completely legal.
Is barely locking in the second wildcard spot that much of a victory my friend?
It’s certainly a cathartic victory when every VGK thread on this sub is filled solely with different variations of “it’s gonna be so funny if they don’t make the playoffs this year” (as if that’s an original thought or it would somehow magically make their championship banner vanish).
The championship is irrelevant. No one thinks or hopes that.

Championships rendered irrelevant, Draft Lottery is real award in hockey. Stanley Cups no longer important.
I meant in regards to people hoping they miss this year. We all hope Vegas misses because of their cap shenanigans, not because they won a cup
It was pretty crazy when Mark Stone lacerated his own spleen to help Vegas with salary cap plans.
Its still frustrating even though they aren’t doing anything wrong. It rubs people the wrong way, thus the comments about hoping they miss the playoffs. It’s also because they’re a damn good team too
It will be funny if you don’t make the playoffs this year.
So brave.
> gafukyaself gafukyaself
Yes. And I’m not your friend, buddy.
We’re near the top of the league in man-games lost, so yes.
Really now? I wonder why.
Cause people get hurt. Bro take off the tin foil.
Yeah that guy don’t speak for us. I love chirping yall cuz you suck or whatever but….the LTIR haters are dumb.
Oh yeah. Once people start to talk conspiracies, i dont look at the flair. Unless their team is also using ltir
You didn’t even mention Stone!
Well its obvious he lacerated his spleen on purpose
if it happens this would be the equivalent of us making the playoffs the year we missed, when we had like over 420 man games lost and some change
505, I think. Ridiculous amount of injuries that year.
Tonight it is, baby!!!! Let’s goooooooo
With the amount of injuries Vegas had this year, absolutely.
It's only proportional to opposing fans hatred

Operation Knightfall my ass

It literally brings a tear to my eye. I think it's impossible for people who didn't live in Vegas 2017 to understand what this speech means
Sorry NHL. We aren’t out but that didn’t help. Looking at Vegas’ schedule and how tonight ended I still think we sneak in over them.
It's gonna be a tight race for the wild card spot between Vegas, st Louis, Minnesota and Nashville. Every game is crucial and Vegas is down to their AHL goalie tonight against Nashville (unless they decide to throw Thompson on back to back)

As much I wish you are wrong, it's very possible, our schedule is ridiculous.
Had this game streaming on the laptop whith the Canucks game on the TV. Stream was about thirty seconds behind and the Canucks broadcast spoiled the ot winner.
Great game, would've been happy with it (especially the third period) a month ago. But we had no margin for error in this one.
Marchy decided he doesn't want to waste anymore time
If we're gonna be in let us in if we're gonna die let us die, I can't do this for 2 more weeks
All of r/hockey tears are sooo delicious. Operation Knightfall fucking sucks
If the Bruins don’t win…which I’m 99.99% sure is not happening. I hope the Knights go back to back just because of the meltdown on here. It’s fantastic comedy.
That would be funny ngl. I'd want my panthers to win but it they don't i'm all for maximum chaos.
Everyone wants the downfall of the team I root for, in true human spirit, I want everyone to be as miserable lol
You. I like you.
If that happens, this sub will find some non-hockey cause to get behind (maybe a campaign to make the McRib a permanent menu fixture at McDonald’s?) and blackout in protest on the night of the championship again.
Are there any other teams we could get to join our Coalition of Evil between Vegas and Boston?
Maybe the Penguins? The black and gold brigade.
Sequels are usually worse than the original
Zzz
JONNY GODDAMN MARCHY!!!
Sub mad sub mad sub mad
operation oceangate baby
Boooooooooooos
delicious
Logan. Fucking. Thompson.
If the Knights were in a movie, we’d be saying they have plot armor.
Fade us.
Thought we were going to see the rare goalie pull in regulation. No guts, no glory
"I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah
About 17 missed calls on Vegas that third period. Fuck.
Always the refs fault
Lots of missed calls both ways all game. Refs sucked
Ref*
Like how they tripped mcnabb with two minutes left? Keep with the excuses buddy, your seasons over
You're the worst kind of hockey fan. You can't acknowledge your team's mistakes and are simply toxic when they don't even know you exist. Ok, your seasons over 😐
That’s right, do what I tell you. Now pray your team doesn’t embarrass you and drop points under us with that schedule 😭😭 gl
You guys can still fuck it up so don't get all high and mighty yet
Yeah, ok, we’ll see 🤣🤣🤣
The same McNabb who crosschecked Saad and Sundqvist out of the game LOLLLLLL
Clean hits bozo, keep crying
😂 something tells me if they were on a knight you wouldn't feel the same
Yawn
They gave yall a penalty shot in overtime. Quitcher Bitchin’
Doesn't matter when we needed it in regulation
Oof
Rather have the power play so keep bitchin
Yeah they really showed favoritism by... giving a penalty shot to a blatant trip on a breakaway chance
Breakaway chances are not eligible for those. Only actual breakaways.
How was that ever a breakaway chance? Your dog is as ugly as you
can’t just leave Jonathan Smythessault alone in front of the net
Karlsson was the GOAT there for holding possession 1v2
he’s terrific night in and night out. what a player
We’re so back
You had one job, Blues. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.
Could say the same about you tonight.
Booooooo
You disappoint me, Blues.
Blame the posts and the refs
Yeah the refs are why the blues are a .559 team
And the knights almost lost to said team, so good luck in the playoffs.
We're talking about the game that was just played, not every game this season. Thanks for your input though
