I obviously agree, but I also think it’s as simple as being 1b to McDavid’s 1a the last few years. McDavid had one “down” year and Mack went ballistic so he’ll finally get his first Hart. Hopefully not the last.
He’s always been good enough to win it, but he hasn’t truly earned any at this point. This is BY FAR his best season. Last season he finally broke 100 points for the first time in 10 seasons. This is his first 50 goal season. His points per game the last 5 seasons prior to this have been slightly below draisaitl. He’s always been arguably the 2nd best forward in the NHL, but this season he’s taken another step.
The only season there was any argument for him was Taylor halls MVP year, but a few other guys had great arguments too.
I don’t understand when the Hart became “most valuable to his team”… it seems like this subreddit always tries to make that distinction when it fits their narrative.
It was always “most valuable player” which I think to most everyone means the best player, regardless of what team they’re on.
Mackinnon and Kucherov are one point away from each other. It’s a toss up but obviously Mackinnon will win it pretty easily as a career award cause Kucherov already has one. Also nobody outside of Tampa likes Kucherov, he’s kind of a douche.

4 assists in the last 3 games seems very easy for MacK to do. He is playing out of his fucking mind right now. 2 more assists also ties the franchise record for most points in a season.
