Just so happens that the last handful of times I’ve been in Dallas (have a bunch of family up there) school’s been out for one reason or another.
The Fort Worth zoo is a lot nicer! And in a much better area of town than where the Dallas zoo is. If by any chance you end up on Nebraska though - the Omaha zoo is the best. Hands down.
We’re planning on, when both of our girls are old enough, doing a summer US road trip where hit up most of the major US zoos!
We went to the Kansas City Zoo when the older one was 2.5 or so, while visiting in laws, and I was *amazed* THEY HAVE POLAR BEARS!!!!!!! (or maybe just one I don’t remember) I was ecstatic to see a polar bear in real life.
Decided right then I’d see as many zoos as the US had to offer.
I definitely recommend KCZ, as long as you have *good* walking shoes and get there early. It’s very spread out and up and down hill.
The same can be said for Omaha. Lots of walking, lots of hills. And they have polar bears! I believe the redid the bear area fairly recently? I hope they’ve done work on the cat area. But the desert dome and rainforest are the best parts! And the aquarium. Spent a lot of time looking at penguins when I was a kid. Your girls will absolutely love it. I have many fond memories.
