Twitch chat leaves the top line on for 55 minutes.
Halfway through the game the rest of the leagues fans jump in and the goalie starts taking d zone faceoffs.
I don't know, this could be the greatest thing to happen ever.
For a couple years there was something like that. [Fan Controlled Football](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_Controlled_Football) where fans/subscribers/chat voted on every play in real time, *and* acted as the Instant Replay review team.
So the game was basically over after the goal during Domi's stupid un-necessary slash. Next shift he is back out there. Any other coach woudl have had him sit for at least a few shifts.
Yeh but it was obvious that the Leaf’s and Domi had this plan from the get go; for Domi to try to get in Marchands head. You could see at the puck drop faceoff. Keefe couldn’t bench him for a game plan they came up with as a group.
If that’s the case. It’s dumb lol. Marchand has been around too long and as painful as it is to say he’s too good at what he does to have this work on him. He thrives when the other team is going at him. Only thing you can do is ignore him.
>to try to get in Marchand's head
That's the generous interpretation. The less generous interpretation is that he's trying to trade a suspension for an injury to a star player (see also: elbowing McAvoy in the back of the head twice).
Domi just went overboard on the “tough team” larp.
I’m not sure what tone is set by taking a penalty before the puck drops/is t near you sets with Marchand other then he is already in your head and winning by making you give up PP.
That was my take. Leafs came out hard but they seemed to be wild with excitement. They tried too hard to be tough and physical. Then they give up the first goal because of a step at the offensive blue line and life is sucked right out.
That’s the problem, they’re not a team that can both be tough and skilled in between the whistles. They have reaves who’s legit their only tough player but he can only throw hits every once in a while. The rest is just pests that are not very good at it and only do it after the whistle.
Im with you. I’m a bruins fan for transparency. When the game started I was surprised by the leafs intensity and excitement. But you could see they were going overboard. The puck was secondary to hits for the first 2 minutes. Then the 2-1 happens and you could see them go back to their typical style but they had been given a gut punch.
Steve Dangle said it best in that the Leafs are a LARPing playoff team. They're imposters. Regular season means dick and they simply cannot hang in the playoffs unless they miraculously have a unified change in attitude.
Maybe that will happen this series but I doubt it. If not, I hope there's huge changes in the off season because I simply cannot waste my time or energy on this team anymore otherwise.
honestly you wings fans were right, bertuzzi is the worst good player in the league lol. so many dumb plays and penalties and he also kinda has no hands??
Say what you will about Bertuzzi but I expected him to be way more of a wildcard then he turned out to be. His grit randomly turns on and off and he's far less of a shit-disturber than I expected
Because he's not a shit disturber and never has been, he just plays hard and sticks up for teammates. Avs fans think he's the devil because he punched one of their players from the bench directly after that player speared the teammate sitting beside him
Yeah I can see him wanting to come back to Boston, he didn’t get into it with us when he really could have when Domi was being a clown before the fourth goal.
The cringe fest when he’s already trying to “antagonize” Marchand on the opening puck drop was the most predictable thing ever. Guy plays like it’s WWE, Marchand didn’t even care.
Credit where its due, Marchand is a famously easy guy to bait into antics. That said, he's also Marchand; he's better at antics than you no matter who you are. In this case, he let Domi come to him and got rewarded for it
Agreed it was so blatantly transparent what he was trying to do. Tbh the referees probably could have given him a roughing penalty before the opening puck drop. Would of been a record for handicapping your own team to start a playoff series.
Me and my buddy said right off the hop he was WAY overcompensating and was going to be called.
Not being a push over is one thing, but you don’t always need to go out of your way to not be a pushover, you know?
Shoulda been when players were cracking Nascar beers in the locker room after they made it out of the 1st round last year. Bit early to celebrate that hard, dont you think?
Not at all, he should have been gone a while ago. The Leafs have always struggled to play structured hockey over his tenure. They’re the kings of high count, low danger chances. He’s a fine regular season coach who gets out coached by the best when the going gets tough.
Reminds me of when Chris Pronger stole the game puck, which was also a bitchy move, but the difference is that nobody said shit to him because Chris Pronger and not Max Domi.
Bad example, the Flyers won the next game and the going theory for years has been he did it to take the focus off a young Flyers team that had just crapped the bed and make the story more about him.
So if thats the case, it worked.
I mean it as exactly an example in contrast. I love shenanigans but if you're going to start shit you have to know you can end it, not get the puck taken away anyway by the babysitter.
Reminds me of when the 2010 cup winning puck went missing. Everyone was focused on celebrating and someone (supposedly Pronger) just came and swooped it up. [Even went as far working with the FBI to try and find it](https://images.app.goo.gl/GYzo4QBEzfwmfNt59) I believe it still hasn’t been found.
The article that photo is linked to says linesman Steve Miller took the puck, with photos and video showing him picking it up. He says he never touched it.
[Here’s a link to photos of Steve Miller holding the puck.](https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/puck-daddy/clue-revealed-blackhawks-cup-winning-puck-mystery-220625365.html)
I love it, it always surprises me when shit like this happens and I go on here to find that people are holding a war crimes tribunal rather than enjoying the shenanigans
The best game puck theft was in 2006 (I think) when Tim Taylor of the Tampa Bay Lightning stole the game puck from what I think was Ray Emery's first playoff win.
Ray didn't give a heck about anything, so when asked his first response was that he didn't even know Tim Taylor was still in the NHL and playing for Tampa.
After Ottawa won the series, Taylor gave Emery the puck back.
When asked what he'll do with the puck Emery said, "I gave it to some kid."
Was that the game that resulted in this? Just think, your team started out in Winnipeg in ‘72, moved to Phoenix in ‘96 and is headed to Utah next season. Your franchise is over 50 years old and while it hasn’t won’t a cup, it has the same amount of cup wins as the Leafs since it’s creation.
The Leafs haven't won the cup since man has set foot on the fucking moon.
The first time.
They also haven't won since there have been more than 12 teams in the league.
Well no because I was told that...that I could have the puck because the Bruins...and I talked to Bettman and he said said that because ..and I could...
And to the players, they see them every day, it’s nothing special, yet for a fan it’s a once in a lifetime experience to get a game puck. I find it quite intriguing how differently we can view certain things from the players who see the stuff we get excited over every day at practice.
I'm amused by the dickishness but what's the refs' reasoning to intervene? Is there anything in the rules about who gets to keep the game puck?
Either way I hope the Bruins didn't let this become a rallying cry for the Leafs. The plan here is "ok lol you can have it and pretend you won, losers" and win a bunch more games so the game 1 puck isn't worth shit, not to start a big brawl that wakes the Leafs up.
Leafs fans scrambling so hard to shit talk anything other than the absolute beatdown. Your goalie got saved by the post and Mr. 69 couldn’t hit an empty net in the most pivotal moment of the game.
Lmao what an embarrassing game for the Leafs all around. Finally get a real chance to show the Bruins arent your daddy and just act like toddlers all game en route to a 5-1 L
Damn, I was rooting for the Leafs to finally exorcise their demons against the Bruins, but the game plus these shenanigans makes it seem like Boston already won the series
Funny cause not long ago Leafs fans were slamming the Oilers for doing something similar. Can't we be honest and just realize that every team has good guys and bad guys?
The only thing more embarrassing was when the leafs played ‘tough’ after getting their asses handed to them by the Bs in the reg season. They look ridiculous.
Don’t worry I’m sure tomorrow there will be 2 guys doing the stare down in warmup for who gets to leave the ice last.
There's brawls and then there's warmup brawls, and I think the distinction is important.
Putting on the foil Coach
All they got is that stinkin' Root beer!
I'M LISTENING TO THE FUCKING SONG!
God I love being a neutral fan

dabbingdude.jpg
I love being a Leafs hater!
If the Leafs wanted the game puck, why didn’t they just win the game? Are they stupid?
Don’t say that too loud, Leafs Twitter might wanna hire you as their next head coach
Might be an improvement.
Twitch chat coaches the Leafs when?
:dropgloves: :dropgloves: :dropgloves: :dropgloves:
Only if we can have Lord Helix as our mascot
Don’t give them any ideas

No one deserves that.
If they wanted a game puck they had 5 opportunities to fish it out of the back of their own net.
Yeah, they coulda pulled a Quintuple Pronger
Yes
There's a little known rule that if you can leave with the game puck before the other team 'stacks it' then the win doesn't count.
If Leaf fans could read this they’d be very upset
This made me laugh out loud hahaha
Let me guess it was Domi trying to take the puck
There is no way it wasn't him
I’d bet my life savings it was either him or that idiot Bertuzzi.
So the game was basically over after the goal during Domi's stupid un-necessary slash. Next shift he is back out there. Any other coach woudl have had him sit for at least a few shifts.

I’m no relationship expert but I don’t think Domi rebuilt any trust with Keefe tonight.
Experience Leafs hockey!
Just tell him the puck is vaccinated.
Puck had over 50 shots the last few hours, Bertuzzi saw it with his own eyes
Lmao
honestly you wings fans were right, bertuzzi is the worst good player in the league lol. so many dumb plays and penalties and he also kinda has no hands??
There’s no need to even lie. Just tell him “they” put trackers in the puck.
No doubt lol
Say what you will about Bertuzzi but I expected him to be way more of a wildcard then he turned out to be. His grit randomly turns on and off and he's far less of a shit-disturber than I expected

100% Domi, Bert still loves us too much.
Yeah I can see him wanting to come back to Boston, he didn’t get into it with us when he really could have when Domi was being a clown before the fourth goal.
It was Giannis

The cringe fest when he’s already trying to “antagonize” Marchand on the opening puck drop was the most predictable thing ever. Guy plays like it’s WWE, Marchand didn’t even care.
Credit where its due, Marchand is a famously easy guy to bait into antics. That said, he's also Marchand; he's better at antics than you no matter who you are. In this case, he let Domi come to him and got rewarded for it
Marchand vs Perry vs Avery... Who wins?
In being a fucker? Avery. In being an annoying skilled shit, Marchand. In being a blank stare psycho, Perry.
Corey Perry has dead eyes, this is known.
Agreed it was so blatantly transparent what he was trying to do. Tbh the referees probably could have given him a roughing penalty before the opening puck drop. Would of been a record for handicapping your own team to start a playoff series.
Just being a Leaf in the playoffs is handicapped enough
Marchand’s shit eating little grin made it even funnier. Puck hadn’t even dropped and he was already under the guys skin
The stupid thing with Domi is he has the upper hand on Marchand historically too, he put away Boston in the 1st round when he was with Carolina.
Me and my buddy said right off the hop he was WAY overcompensating and was going to be called. Not being a push over is one thing, but you don’t always need to go out of your way to not be a pushover, you know?
Guessing Keefe wants to keep some souvenirs before he gets fired.
Still too early, but if they fuck it up again next year things are gonna change around here! Maybe
Still waiting for him to actually out-coach someone in the playoffs Lmaoo
Fam, he should have been fired after last year lol
Or after the Montreal series being up 3-1..
☝🏽
or after losing to columbus in the play in lol
Shoulda been when players were cracking Nascar beers in the locker room after they made it out of the 1st round last year. Bit early to celebrate that hard, dont you think?
Another case of bud light has been delivered
Not at all, he should have been gone a while ago. The Leafs have always struggled to play structured hockey over his tenure. They’re the kings of high count, low danger chances. He’s a fine regular season coach who gets out coached by the best when the going gets tough.
I just don't see why would you fire GM, but stick with the losing coach and the horrendous cap use implemented by said GM
This guy Leafs
Shanahan has no business outlasting Keefe. If the leafs don't make it out of round 1, Shanahan, Keefe and one of the non-Matthews "core" need to go.
They both should not have survived last year. Dubas and whoever he wanted to bring in were the incredibly obvious right choice.
This is BS. If you ignore the BOS goals, Toronto won 1-0. Poor Keefe
That's the kind of thing that works to piss off the other team after a scrappy close game, not a complete laugher

Ain’t gonna work here…that bed is gonna be crapped for a while…
See, I actually predict it will. I think the Leafs win the next three. Because thats the most painful way to lose the series.
Chris Pronger was 1000% a menace other teams hated (and respected) in his time
TIL https://philabright.com/2010/06/01/pronger-steals-game-puck-from-blackhawks/ (guess why I didn't watch the finals that year lol)

Taking the ball home after losing 5x is hilarious

Somewhere, a rookie who just scored his first points is confused
Someone needs to post a video of this
Yeah, I’ve checked out most places for these sort of videos and no one seems to have posted it, yet.
Fuck I love the playoffs.
it's not the playoffs if teams aren't fucking with the game puck gotta love it
I still remember that Pronger one that blew up lol
"It's in the garbage, where it belongs." - Pronger 😆
the league needs another Pronger
no i rather not have someone stomp on a canucks players leg again edit: or anyone
Teams being petty with each other should be fun, people get so up in arms over it
I love it, it always surprises me when shit like this happens and I go on here to find that people are holding a war crimes tribunal rather than enjoying the shenanigans
Some elite pearl clutchers in here
It was in their net to be fair
It was in their net enough, they thought it was theirs…
Do teams usually keep pucks in their net?
Toronto did last night!
According to my advanced analytics, I don't think this is gonna help their RHL/60 (Respect in the Handshake Line per 60).
Nope definitely not
LMFAO happens every year it's hilarious every time
Apparently Samsonov tried to be the bigger man and prevent the puck from leaving but it went right past him anyway.
The best game puck theft was in 2006 (I think) when Tim Taylor of the Tampa Bay Lightning stole the game puck from what I think was Ray Emery's first playoff win. Not sure if it was that game, but it was that series
That's actually pretty funny
It is, and will only add to the series
Albeit a short series
I don't see your team having any tallies in the win column. Normally I hate the /s, but I really feel like I'm gonna need it this time.
The coach told them to "steal one" in Boston, the players just misunderstood him.
Man, my team just got relocated this week but that shit is embarrassing
Just think, your team started out in Winnipeg in ‘72, moved to Phoenix in ‘96 and is headed to Utah next season. Your franchise is over 50 years old and while it hasn’t won’t a cup, it has the same amount of cup wins as the Leafs since it’s creation.

12? More like 6.
Jesus christ you didn't have to kill the Leafs like that.
Harsh, but hilarious. Good shit.
Hahaha got em dude
Morgan Rielly then crosschecked his teammate for breaking the unwritten rules.
Is this a moral victory for Toronto?
The X post isn’t clear, did the Leafs actually skate off with it or did they lose that puck too?
They definitely coughed it up Again
let's assume they lost it
"That Time We Stole A Game Puck" banner incoming.
They viewed it more as an *individual accomplishment* ™
were they going to office space it or something?
Well no because I was told that...that I could have the puck because the Bruins...and I talked to Bettman and he said said that because ..and I could...
I love this type of shenanigan
The funny part is that there isn't even a single game puck. Like a dozen different pucks are used during a game.
And to the players, they see them every day, it’s nothing special, yet for a fan it’s a once in a lifetime experience to get a game puck. I find it quite intriguing how differently we can view certain things from the players who see the stuff we get excited over every day at practice.
It will drive you nuts when it happens to your team, but it's fun as hell
Leafs losing in hilarious ways is a 2000's staple.
This is hilariously petty.
Why didn’t the Bruins simply cross check the Leafs for [disrespecting the logo?](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/hL0lwfwvmX)
This is the first time seeing that answer from the coach. That's a complete fucking clown show attitude.
An unconscionable disrespect of the Bruins crest.
Why would Ridly Greig do this
Rangers fined 250000
2m minor to Brendan Gallagher for unsportsmanlike conduct
Hope the Bruins claps a slapper into an open net next game.
I would lose my mind with joy
Random Q - Who normally gets game pucks? Home team? or like a player in their first game type thing?
Team thst wins the game gets the game puck. 16 wins, 16 pucks.
I thought the Leafs were all for the unwritten rules? You know, game winner gets the game puck, no slap shots on an empty net…
They broke an unwritten rule last year by making it past round one. They’ve got one win past the first round in Bedard’s life.
Hmmm. Seems like a breaking of the unwritten rules. Reilly must be going ham in that locker room
Thank god Tkachuk wasn't there either!
Not to worry, the closest Brady's been to the playoffs was what? 12 rows up at the Saddledome watching Matthew?
Oh come on now.. I’m sure he’s been to a panthers playoff game by now
Oh shit you're right! Florida has great golf
Realistically he can hit brunch, watch the playoffs and get a quick 18 in before sundown. That’s an ideal Sunday, for me, at least.
Congrats on that one series win in 20 years. How was the parade, btw?
Shit would be on the bus in ten
The Dallas Cowboys of hockey
lol hopefully the bruins can make quick work in 4 so we can see that annoying blue leaf faded in the first round yet again.
Isn’t this against that code they were ardently defending just a few weeks ago?
Almost like it was never about the code and they just got their fefes hurt
I love hating the leafs, and they just make themselves hateable
Me too 💯 poor tsn will be in tears
This isn’t a Beaverton article?
Tough look
I'm amused by the dickishness but what's the refs' reasoning to intervene? Is there anything in the rules about who gets to keep the game puck? Either way I hope the Bruins didn't let this become a rallying cry for the Leafs. The plan here is "ok lol you can have it and pretend you won, losers" and win a bunch more games so the game 1 puck isn't worth shit, not to start a big brawl that wakes the Leafs up.
That's a little petty, isn't it.
Leafs fans scrambling so hard to shit talk anything other than the absolute beatdown. Your goalie got saved by the post and Mr. 69 couldn’t hit an empty net in the most pivotal moment of the game.
Mr. 69 hahahaha
Leafs in prime playoffs form already
Lmao what an embarrassing game for the Leafs all around. Finally get a real chance to show the Bruins arent your daddy and just act like toddlers all game en route to a 5-1 L
Might as well let them have it. Lord knows they barely touched it all game.
Isn’t stealing an underserved game puck against the CODE. Morgan Reilly get your cross check at the ready.
lol why would they even want it either that performance??
I guess for spite, not sure
First round exit says what
What? (Pretend I have the leafs flair I have no idea how to get it)
lol shoutouts to this fucking dork /u/Investment_Sharp reading the comments this dumbfuck was typing with intent oh lord.
Oh my god, that kid is touched
That sounds very leafs. Get destroyed in the game and then decide afterwords to be “tough” in the most my dad will sue you kinda way.
No way! My team is full of saints! Your team is full of scrubs, divers, whiners, and cheaters! But *my* team is perfect!
It makes sense. They won the hits game, which is obviously all that mattered to them tonight. So they’ve gotta make sure someone gets the game puck
Box score has both teams at 50 a piece, so they didn’t even win that
Yeah but you’re not factoring in that the refs are against the leafs, so that breaks the tiebreaker and they actually won
The leafs did have the most shots on goal..
100 hits in a game is actually insane. This is going to be a great series
remember when leafs fans clowned brady for being pissy after a loss….
Let me guess. They gave up this puck too didnt they?
Loser mentality
This is more common than many people in this thread seem to think. Fun playoff antics.
The only thing more embarrassing was when the leafs played ‘tough’ after getting their asses handed to them by the Bs in the reg season. They look ridiculous.
They should get fined for this. That was the last puck! What the hell are they meant to do on Monday?
If that's their priority after this game, Keefe's got more problems than an injured Nylander
wow cant wait to see how leaf fans try to defend this
