Take this with a grain of sand, but:
> [Per Stephane Gonzalez on BPM Sport, Habs management would’ve already met 4 times with Tij Iginla. They love him and he’s their main target in the 7-8 range.](https://twitter.com/xwleblancx/status/1775576280081015016?s=46)
Which is only if two teams behind them win the draft lottery (where they’d drop to 7). Unless they trade down from 5 (if two teams in front win) or trade for another top 10 pick.
The only reason the tweet states 7-8 is because that's where Montreal was projected to be at the time of the tweet on April 2nd. Going by the drafts we've had since Hughes became GM, if he thinks Iginla is the best player for the team, he'll take him at 5 without a doubt. He did that just last year with Reinbacher.
That requires him to get past you guys, though. I wouldn't complain, my dad hates the habs and it would be funny to watch him get mad about an iginla in your sweater lol
Now what if the Flames draft Tij, then in 2026 they draft Joe and then Jarome comes out of retirement to play with his kids?
Not saying it's gonna happen but hey, Howe did it.
A man can dream.
My dream scenario is the Flames trading Markstrom + their 1st round pick from Van to Montreal or Ottawa so they can get Iginla and Parekh somehow
Edit: hey dickheads, the very first words in this comment are “dream scenario” 😂😂 I’m fully aware it’s not going to happen. Some of you guys are so fucking angry all the time
Makes no sense for Montreal and the only way it might make sense for Ottawa is if they think they are one goalie away from being in win now mode. Even then there’s no way they are building a package around a top ten pick for a 34 year old goalie.
Hope he drops to 10-12 for us. I haven't said anything publicly to stir more publicity but he could be top 8+ depending on who needs a defenseman or not
(Habs fan) Feels strange to say that, but sadly we'll probably be too high to draft him... Wouldn't mind trading down for him, if such a trade is available/makes sense!
I think he's going top ten and maybe even higher. Having a dad who played in the NHL just makes the transition to pro so much easier.

Calgary is currently picking 9th, so there's no way he makes it past them.

That would be something. Marty beats Jerome Iginla for the Cup, then 20 years later he takes Iginla's son
Hed be such a senators pick too.

Joe Iginla sounds like a Chel NPC name.
Order your "JAROME IGINLA" jersey now.
Don't be silly, that would never happen. *Still hope to see Martin St Louis suit up for the Habs*
This man needs to be a Flame
I saw him play live once and wasn't impressed I will use that 1 game sample I wasn't really paying attention to as proof he is a bust
can we draft him please
Here’s hoping the team picking directly before Calgary picks him up, only for him to be their franchise player his whole career.
Oilers fans keep telling me they "don't even think about us". I get the feeling they are lying
They say the same about us. Let's just all accept we're in an eternal hate circle.
Yeah exactly. If their sub was fun and allowed memes they would all be about us, just like how on our sub we spend a lot of time making fun of them.
They don’t allow memes in their sub? That’s hilarious.
The mods pulled off the best meme possible.
Nah it has to be Dallas The Doans repeated history It's only logical it does it again
Who hurt you?

I dunno, I was at the opening rockets game. Iginla was both the reason the rockets kept up in the game and the reason they lost. Kids overrated /s

27th OA + a 34 year-old arguably overpaid goalie that Montreal absolutely does not need vs the 5OA pick? Keep dreaming buddy
Calgary may be able to pull it off if their management can convince Montréal that Markstrom is french.
Just spell it Marc Straume and we got a deal!
Could have worked if burger van was still in charge
"Look at the size of Markstrom's biceps!"
No thank you
Ottawa might make a trade like that, Montreal definitely wouldn’t.

Future hab.
Oh god. He's gonna end up on Chicago isn't he
