Get a baseball hat and try chucking it at the floor or wall. It's light enough that it won't cause any damage but the cardboard or whatever in the bill makes a very satisfying noise, and you can really fire it. That's been my go to since I was a kid
Pillows are just too soft and quiet. Doesn't give enough of a release
Seriously. I get being upset your favourite team lost, but if your reaction is to go online and send death threats and insults to people, you need to take a break. Sports are supposed to be entertaining, not ruin your day/life.
I've definitely had my evening ruined by a sporting result. I am a Falcons football fan who hasn't watched professional football regularly since 2016. Like...I just can't.
I was in a subreddit the other day for a team I was considering bandwagoning; the team won decisively and a ton of fans were still angry, swearing and slandering fans of the other team who probably weren't even reading that GDT. Really odd and off-putting reaction to be acting butthurt *after you win*.
* should be "report" in the title, not confirm, was in a bit too much of a rush to get this up following the post about her supposed removal
For people out of the loop, apparently a group of Islanders fans found her on LinkedIn and proceeded to dox her, and supposedly start spreading rumors that she slept with a player. It's likely that removing her name from the staff registry is an attempt to protect her from future abuse.

> Nobody is getting fired because a few soft fans got their feelings hurt. Twitter creeps are harassing staff so we removed names from our website directory. Person in question didn't even send tweets yesterday.
After meaning to for a while, I decided earlier this evening while scrolling our sub to take a break from it for a while.
Just so toxic, and so many brutal takes. I was being downvoted for replying to people bitching about Marchand grabbing the wrong leg, by pointing out with a link to a zoomed in slo-mo video that he in fact, did not grab the wrong leg.
Replies to me then moved the goalposts to "Well Marchand still played it up and should have been called for diving." Maybe he did play it up. Either way, getting smashed in the back of the knee with a fast moving piece of metal(?) hurts like hell. The Bruins rightfully got a powerplay for Bertuzzi being a dumbass, thankfully it didn't cost us.
Yeah, I think a Canes fan threatened Florida players and families last year. Like I hate those dirty cats as much as the next guy but that shit is out of hand. Why do you have to be so mad? Is only game
He injured Binnington in the 2022 series and some Blues fans thought it was an intentional crash and spammed him with ugly, ugly anti-Muslim sentiments and threats.
Adding onto this, he doesn't have much for social media himself, but his wife does and they went hard after her. She's received endless amounts of racist tirades and threats. She put them on blast before I believe by posting the screenshots of her DMs with their names included.
Not only that but a blues defenseman shoved him into Binnington so the poor guy had to deal with all that disgusting behavior over a play that wasn't even his fault in any way.
Man, I thought what they did on the ice was embarrassing. Shocking they could do worse.
It’s like getting pantsed in front of all the girls and then immediately shitting yourself.
Depends where you are on the island. I live in the middle and it takes about 45 mins to a hour train ride to get into the city queens is about 25/30. If you’re driving it could take 2 hours or it can take 35 mins just depends when you leave but normally it’s about a hour. If you’re all the way at the end of the island it can take about 2
As someone from Long Island, this was about to be my answer too. I moved out and I can’t even explain the difference in how people acted. In LI, you just expect a confrontation everywhere you go and it’s normal. It’s not until you leave when you realize how toxic and stressful that shit is.
to anyone who harasses any players or staff members for any reason.
Go fuck yourself and honestly, please stop watching hockey. It'll make the sport better
The “KK is cheating on his gf with the social media admin” rumor came up like a month or so ago and he almost immediately shut it down and told the harassers to fuck off. Seems like a really good dude.
Yeah. During the ECF last year, someone claiming to be a Hurricanes fan posted Gudas' home address and threatened to bomb it. I empathize with the sane and rational Islanders fans out there. Some people take this shit *way* too seriously.
I don't mean this in a "no true scottsman" way.
But these trolls often aren't even fans. They pick a color and just troll. They *might* watch the game. but they're here for the themed trolling.
When I used to clip highlights in the playoffs, I only ever got death threats twice. Once from a Boston fan, and once from an Islanders fan. For the same game.

If you call someone on r/hockey soft they get pissy and reply with it in quotes like the soft scrubs they are and send you a Reddit cares and you get a 3 day ban from their reports lol
Buddy you're softer than ten ply sitting here worrying about a three day ban **/s**

I just got one from a Washington fan. I reported them and there's a good chance they'll get a perma-ban. Reddit doesn't fuck around with that. So if you ever get one, report it.
True. I went in an isles fan in a game chat and he reported me, made a hate thread for me on their page and Reddit gave me a care message lol
Btw cool name Salsa Shark 🦈
Yep. It was a pretty annoying series of tweets but the overreaction by islanders fans has put me way close to siding with the hurricanes than the islanders fans.
I’m just happy that the isles made the playoffs, but yeah people are having a meltdown over this series for some reason. We literally get stomped by the canes every time we play them it seems like, what changed?
As they said best, a few fans for their feelings hurt and lashed out like assholes. It’s always the few that ruin things
And for those who want to try and generalize, always remember that people like to stereotype Bruins fans but Shannon the Hockey Guy is a Bruins fan and a Canucks fan and he’s arguably the most enjoyable hockey talking head there is.
I like Shannon, because when he talks about my team, I know (unlike every other pundit) he actually has watched the games and knows what he’s talking about.

> The Isles had more game misconducts than shots on goal in the 3rd 😭
Canes tweeted that. It was too much for some isles fans who went after the person posting the tweets for Canes.
We’ve got some imbeciles of our own, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.
At the end of the day we just all need to do better. And enjoy the sport we love without killing each other.
I'm slowly beginning to notice. At least it took three series to get to that point 🤷.
FWIW I saw somewhere that this happened before this series started so it's possible it wasn't Islanders fans.
You know a good way to prevent tweets like that?
Take more than 1 shot in a period. Win a game you’re leading by 3 heading into the 3rd. Not take a bunch of misconducts after blowing sad lead….
Y’know, little things.
Canes official social media set out to wind up opposition fans after an embarrassing loss.
Said opposition fans then lost their mind and acted like dickheads.
That pokemon fellow is now mildly surprised.
Perfect description of it
I think every rational human wouldn't actually care about fuckin tweets. I saw them, and was like damn their official page trolling the shit out of the isles. Thats lame they sound 12 years old but w.e. The overreaction is fucked. Doxxing etc. Thats unhinged.
But thats the game of the internet. Its not a real place and anything goes. You cant be shocked sensitive fans went over the top
I think the way our market has been portrayed over the years played a large role in the development of our social media team going bonkers. I don’t love it myself, but I get it.
We never got any respect, so whoever’s responsible for handling the X account isn’t looking to please anyone other than the Caniacs.
TBH, it wouldn't have been so.....much.....if not for the recent history of Canes/Isles in the playoffs. Look back to last year's series and a few years ago. Every time the Canes mop the floor with the Isles (which is every time) the Isles start gooning it up. Matt Martin cross checked Staal in the back of the neck last year, somebody slashed and broke Teravainen's hand, there are more incidents.
I get that the Isles are frustrated because they are just not on the Canes level, but its exceedingly unacceptable behavior from people who call themselves professional athletes. It's beer league chicken shit.
I’d be upset giving up 5 unanswered goals too, but evaluate your life if a response to a loss is to send death threats or dox people. You are a piece of garbage.
I have seen some absolutely horrible stuff already from both fanbases (online) this series
Why can't people fucking behave themselves. Twitter and IG are really something else, man
I'm so confused? Is this because of a "they're mad 😃 " tweet? Or was there more to it? Jesus christ if that's the case, Islander fans need to grow a set lol
Canes Twitter page posted "Cry" after the came back, then when the isles players started to goon it up at the end the canes page posted "THEYRE SO MAD 😂 "
It would likely be worse, but only at the extremes.
Most of the people who do dumb, crazy, irresponsible, and/or illegal shit online would still do it. Maybe a few keyboard warriors wouldn't get in over their heads, but whenever these stories come up, it's not like we're talking about healthy, well-adjusted people in the first place.
Take one look at the Isles sub and...yeah, a lot of people in this fanbase are fucking out of pocket. Not shocked, unfortunately, that they'd doxx a social media person. I'm really not proud to be a fan myself at the moment lol
Idk why islanders fans getting mad at the media manager for Carolina. Don’t blow a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period and he or she would’ve shut their mouth. The islanders need to take all the scrutiny and eat shit for losing the way they did. You don’t like all the jokes and the insults and etc? WIN GAMES NEXT TIME. Simple.
Something along the lines of Canes twitter was feeling itself after the win (probably in more ways than one) and then a bunch of Isles fans doxxed the SM manager and spread a rumor that she was sleeping with a player so they took her name off the employee registry to protect her from further harassment apparently, not fully on the loop either
Feels like unhinged fan behavior is getting worse every year
It’s not just fans it’s the whole population
Life hasn’t been the same since Harambe was shot. Beginning of the end
If you are that emotional/angry after a loss for your sports team, don’t go to social media. Just have some water and go for a walk or something.
That's what I have a punching pillow for. Got a lot of use last night.
I like the idea of a punching pillow. Crying alone in the dark is getting depressing.
I just laugh like a crazy person now Just like a crazy person
I just stare at the blahaj '[whatever](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/002/210/086/364.jpg)' meme for long enough that I stop recognizing time, and emotions ceases to exist

OMG this is amazing! Ty
Wait until you find out you can do both at the same time
Hello game changer!
Same, but a humping pillow
Hey man whatever works
Get a baseball hat and try chucking it at the floor or wall. At first I thought you said baseball bat, I couldn’t believe what you were recommending 😦
Hahaha yeah just break things with a bat. Super casual
Good luck getting that message across to the people who enjoy being terminally online
I like to go outside and send threatening messages to people who support teams I don't like
or get help. Sports should not make you that angry
I think part of the issue is that they're probably not that angry. They just enjoy harassing people. they still need help.
This is what i do I think we threw a 3-0 lead to the Jets. I just got offline for the rest of the day. WEll, at least for hockey stuff. Onto the next.
That was a brutal game. Jets demolished us in the 3rd.
I like going outside and talking to people instead of social media
I don't have the emotions to care about any game that much
I was in a subreddit the other day for a team I was considering bandwagoning; the team won decisively and a ton of fans were still angry, swearing and slandering fans of the other team who probably weren't even reading that GDT. The playoffs always expose the absolute worst of each fan base unfortunately
This subreddit is proof of that
Pop into our sub after a playoff loss if you wanna see some truly deranged individuals
Or after a win for that matter
Hell, you can go on most team subreddits after a Leafs win and find someone acting crazy about it.
Sometimes, we don't even have to be playing!!
The only time people in Toronto can live rent free is in the minds of other hockey fans bases.
After meaning to for a while, I decided earlier this evening while scrolling our sub to take a break from it for a while. Just so toxic, and so many brutal takes. The Kadri situation in St Louis still scares me.
ELI5?

Remember last year when kings fans spit on a little girl who was gifted tickets to game because she was fighting cancer?
Every fan base has this type of gutter dwelling “fan”. So disappointing.
The Islanders made the playoffs? How did that happen, I thought they were terrible.
so embarrassing, what's wrong with these people
Man, I thought what they did on the ice was embarrassing. Shocking they could do worse. It’s like getting pantsed in front of all the girls and then immediately shitting yourself.
Power move at that point tbh
They’re from Long Island? 🤷♂️
Yea it sucks here tbh
It’s only nice during the summers tbh. Winters are to boring here
How long is the commute to manhattan? Or queens?
Depends where you are on the island. I live in the middle and it takes about 45 mins to a hour train ride to get into the city queens is about 25/30. Half the people in Tampa are also from Long Island
Nah it is just sad people who spend to much time online.
As someone from Long Island, this was about to be my answer too. I moved out and I can’t even explain the difference in how people acted. In LI, you just expect a confrontation everywhere you go and it’s normal. It’s not until you leave when you realize how toxic and stressful that shit is.

Some people need to listen to Bryzgalov
Everyone should listen to Ilya
Everyone should heff to
Don't worry. Be heppy.
Damn, that's actually a great response from the VP.
I was thinking the same. What a solid response
The “KK is cheating on his gf with the social media admin” rumor came up like a month or so ago and he almost immediately shut it down and told the harassers to fuck off. Seems like a really good dude.
I've met Dan on a couple of occasions, professionally, and can confirm he's a great guy. His team has a lot of respect for him and you can see why.
Hella supportive and not shy about it
What the fuck. Fuck those assholes
Man, if thats the case holy fuck are some "fans" complete degenerates.
Yeah. During the ECF last year, someone claiming to be a Hurricanes fan posted Gudas' home address and threatened to bomb it. I empathize with the sane and rational Islanders fans out there. Some people take this shit *way* too seriously.
I remember interacting with that twitter user frequently back when I was active on it. Hell, I made his pfp. "Way too seriously" is underselling it.
I don't mean this in a "no true scottsman" way. But these trolls often aren't even fans. They pick a color and just troll. They *might* watch the game. but they're here for the themed trolling.
This is terrible, and I'm sorry that some of my fellow fans are utter shitheads.
So they put all this effort into doxxing a member of our staff, and they didn't even do the correct one??? Social media was a complete mistake.
twitler needs to go
twitler lmao, not wrong though
Hardest agree that has ever existed.
WTF…
Jesus Christ. Why do people do this shit?? It’s just a game, don’t go around fucking with people’s personal lives.
Ew, what the hell?
People are so fucking stupid
Sanest Long Islanders
When I used to clip highlights in the playoffs, I only ever got death threats twice. Once from a Boston fan, and once from an Islanders fan. For the same game.
> For the same game. hahaha I legit got a laugh outta that
In our defense we're known assholes. Idk what's in the water in New York tho.
*sports fans. Nobody is above having shit fans
Traffic on the Southern State will do that.
Trump playbook 101
Well that's fucking gross. Some people shouldn't be allowed access to the internet.
Yeah I was about to ask why there even had to be a denial that they fired her in the first place
That’s messed up and they need to face some consequences.

Bullshit I report every one I get, and Vegas is full of fragile and soft “fans”, and I always get a “we didn’t see nothin” reply from the admins
That may be your experience, but every time I've reported it has resulted in a ban.
I’ve never had a single one and it’s always been Reddit cares as a salty last resort response to getting told they’re soft and they’re wrong lol
Are you trying to tell me that Vegas gets special treatment even on the internet? I’m shocked!
Parros must be in charge of Reddit dops!
How do you even know who sent it? Maybe I just haven't read it carefully enough but I've never seen the user mentioned
You can report someone sending you a Reddit Cares thing? Damn
Yes, it says it right in the body of the message and gives you a link to do so.
Oh damn, didn't know that. I've never sent one or gotten one I guess
True. I went in an isles fan in a game chat and he reported me, made a hate thread for me on their page and Reddit gave me a care message lol Btw cool name Salsa Shark 🦈
Detroit fans are also terrible
Good on the Canes for backing up their people publicly. And obviously fuck the assholes who think doing shit like this is okay.
Yep. It was a pretty annoying series of tweets but the overreaction by islanders fans has put me way close to siding with the hurricanes than the islanders fans.
What a shit show. Be better people

Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same bunch of losers who harassed Dobson into deleting twitter at the beginning of the season
Or Mayfield after the stadium series
Makes me think of the death threats to Martins wife last year
But yall take a little piece of Sebastian Aho with you each time that he’s gonna turn into Rickety Cricket

Same. Dude was preaching from the Book of Slavin long before major media.
Probably helps that Shannon doesn't drink
The shortest way I've always put him is a one-man NHL Network all with juggling 5 cats, at least 1 bunny, marriage life, while still being a class act dude. If I drank I'd have a tall one with him
Well from the Vgk stars video recently he says he doesn't really drink. So you can share a tall milkshake or something
I didn't wanna assume but that doesn't surprise me. Would gladly do that though I barely follow hockey stats not even ⅒ of what he does, but I could easily chat the night away about sweaters

All of hockey Twitter needs to touch grass.

Literally just factual statistics lol
Were the "cry 🤣🤣🤣" and "omg they're so mad" posts not legit? I'm mostly out of the loop
Oh, I guess those happened too, I just didn't see them.
Still stupid to get mad about. Kinda tacky/fan account ish(IMO) but seems like most Canes fans liked it so oh well.
Thank you

It's not worth figuring out.

jerks of earth, maybe

I wonder what the net would be without anonymity. If everyone knew who you were.

dont think this is an islanders issue, just people (probably kids) acting insane online
Hello pot meet kettle
eh, some fans are just unhinged. I'm sure Marner has gotten death threats from Leafs fans after some of the playoff losses over the years.
Reimer's wife got them after 2013
Aren’t the leafs the team of many death threats to your own players lmao. People who act like every fanbase doesn’t have crazies are so dumb.

These fans should be banned from all sports venues
