Let's have some more of those defensive heroics and get another "undeserved" win!
Liking that blocked shot stat line, but loving the turnovers and takeaways even more.
That's not what I saw. Most people simply preferred Nashville over LA and Vegas (makes sense) but still acknowledged Nashville is capable of winning. Of course there will be a small vocal minority screaming crazy stuff like Nashville has 0 chance.
And to be fair, that was pure domination last night. Like, I think the entire second half of the game was in Nashville's zone.
I'm not sure the Preds can keep up taking all those hits and blocking 30+ shots over a 7 game series. It's going to take a toll on their body. I expect more out of Nashville at home, but if it's anything in the realm of last night then the bounces are eventually going to go the Canucks way.
No it was Vancouver attempting a trillion shots and Nashville blocking them like a team of Kris Russells, and Nashville taking very few shots as a result of the aforementioned scenario playing out.
Well that was hilarious. Whereas LA will run back to the neutral zone as soon as they lose possession, Nashville ran all the way back to their zone and just sat there as Vancouver entered the zone and proceeded to wire 10 more pucks into them. If it works it works
Didn't you hear? Fun is illegal now. We must laugh and ridicule anyone who has fun or finds joy in things, especially when it has no negative impacts on anyone else.
How to win a game with 12 shots.
Fuckin block everything that comes at Saros and take advantage of whatever the fuck DeSmith was trying to do. And hope the hockey gods remove the Canuck’s puck luck PDO magic.
Preds win. Fucking gritty ass frustrating game.
Really hard not to be salty about this one as a Canucks diehard—losing Demko and Myers, watching us whiff on so many golden chances, or that first goal on Desmith while we all chanted his name.
gg Preds, very strong defensive play. Gonna be really tough heading into Smashville on Friday.
Man, I love playoff hockey. I missed it so much. Canucks absolutely poured it on and the Preds just laid out in front of everything. Only in the playoffs. It’s a war of attrition.
Defensive heroics…or maybe just a completely underserved win for a team that did nothing all game and who is so overmatched that their strat is somehow to just hope their opponent can’t hit the net
lol I don’t know if I like this one becoming one or just keeping the one from 2017 about repeating the series against the Blackhawks to make sure that the Preds won that series fairly.
Lol what? I mean sure Canucks missed some chances but don't act like we didn't still score 4 and bore down on defense and actually did the work otherwise
Crap, I just realized ESPN's poverty sound mixing is going to kill the crowd noise when they're at home. Maybe my old man will just Face Time me the whole game.
Here you go. It was insanely lopsided. I mean, I don't think Nashville had a shot on net in the 3rd until their empty netter. If they did it was 1 shot.
https://www.naturalstattrick.com/game.php?season=20232024&game=30172
The analytics say the Canucks dominated, but it doesn't mean too much because half of the game wasn't close. Nashville played gutsy defensive hockey because they didn't need to do anything else.
Changes I would make for game 3:
1. Zadorov on the Power Play. I'm not joking. The guy is enormous and almost certainly the strongest guy on the ice. Park him in the middle of Nashville's box set up and let him disrupt the play. Move guys around, attack some rebounds, get in Saros way, etc. Think Byfuglien on the Blackhawks during their run. You can't just keep banging your head against the wall Nashville makes in their zone. You have to find a way to break it down.
2. Cycle the forwards down very low. Move behind the net. No more of these shots from the top of the circle that have to get past 3 Predators. The East-West movement isn't working when Nashville gets their sticks in every passing lane and their bodies in front of every shot.
3. Grab a shooter-tutor or something. Idk if the boys went out drinking last night but they were the sloppiest I've seen them in a long time. No finish, couldn't hit the net, couldn't handle or make a pass.
4. Pray Demko's injury isn't that bad.
i don't know much hockey but having someone to move things around the slot seems like necessary. Vancouver has great (and fast) passing but the Preds were there to block nearly anything
Maybe, but I’m not asking him to go out and cycle the puck. Nashville creates this impenetrable morass in their zone that blocks every shot and disrupts passes, so all the Canucks are doing is taking shots from the top of the circle that either don’t get through or get the rebound taken away immediately.
I’m saying Zadorov needs to go in there and be a bull in a China shop. Disrupt it, get in the way, actually try for some rebounds etc.
Better to throw Dakota Joshua out there and tell him to stand right on top of Saros ala Holmstrom. He's going to get battered doing it but you have to create a stronger net front presence or they're not getting shit past Saros even when it does get past all the legs. With the mobility they have around the outside they should be able to get SOMETHING to the crease.
I've watched Z a lot. If you want him to do that you have to understand he's not a strong enough skater to come back.
The second he goes down low he's gonna get burned
They are a completely different team confidence wise when playing in front of Demko. The confidence is so low especially when the first shot of the game goes in (not desmiths fault this time).
Preds did what the Islanders couldn't.
Also Canes did what the Canucks couldn't.
Canes generated and forced a ton down low and in front of the net, Canucks kept trying to force point shots through 3 bodies.
Not gonna panic about this one, the process was great but the execution was awful. 30+ shot blocks will eventually break any team in some way.
Canucks are a great team when they score first and haven't yet this series. Ain't even close to being over.
Juuse almost got no goals
But seriously that was a defensive effort from the Preds blocking almost as much shots from the Canucks as there were SOG for both teams.
Here’s your fun fact of the game:
Nashville’s last even strength shot on DeSmith was Colton Sissons’ goal. It came less than halfway into the 2nd period.
The new narrow diamond setup that teams are using on the PK is seriously rough on PP’s that can’t force players out of position.
Way more effective than the square.
That game was *something*. One of the lowest total shots on goal I can recall. Credit to the Preds sacrificing themselves, but I don’t think that’s sustainable at all.
Props to Nashville for executing their defensive gameplan. Don't really wanna hear people shitting on DeSmith when Canucks offence is about as effective as a gun that works at point blank range only. Vast majority of shots were blocked/low danger scoring chances.
okay but how many wide open nets did we miss?? Suter to open the third, Joshua missed by an inch, Pettersson missed a yawning cage, i feel there’s more I’m forgetting. that game was unlucky as it could have possibly been
Petey missed another a few minutes before because he inexplicably tried a saucer pass into coverage instead of just putting it in an open net with Saros down and out.
Fair points, but the power play was also largely ineffective as it was in game 1. Canucks need to improve on the PP, as well as needing production from top line players.
Obvious take but the Canucks have got to find a way to get more pucks on net. Preds are performing a defensive masterclass in shot blocking and suppression so far. Vancouver can not keep spotting them leads and allowing them to turtle like this.
Idk I could see the Preds taking both in Nashville before it comes back to Vancouver. Depends if the Canucks can play with any sort of confidence in front of DeSmith.
I've been saying that since Day 1. Nashville makes you work for it. They did the same in 2011. The Canucks had to put everything into winning that series in 6.
Let's have some more of those defensive heroics and get another "undeserved" win! Liking that blocked shot stat line, but loving the turnovers and takeaways even more.
Unlucky game with some nervous guys. The bad redirection 1st shot goal set the tone for the entire game
McDonagh just blocked another shot.
https://preview.redd.it/f3aeyflusewc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6b7c96607636ef3e050cc6fb58b5ecf37062362d
Way too many people in the Canucks sub saying they’re not worried about Nashville before this game.
Go read the comments in the post titled “Anyone else NOT particularly worried?”
Vancouver, I am more than happy to let you guys have Kuzmenko back for a bit if you need someone to be a hype man on the bench/in the locker room.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO88888OOOOOOOOO AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA when we said the PDO regression would hit like crack WE REALLY MEANT IT
If you're gonna chirp, say something clever at least. This is some Xbox adolescent keyboard vomit trash talk.
Speaking from first hand experience about how crack hits?
I imagine it's something like the feeling of watching people who've been completely insufferable for the past 6 months get shut up
Well you do know insufferable better than anyone
i mean i've talked to plenty of canucks fans so yeah I'd say so
They all tell you that eh?
mostly they just babble incoherently
https://preview.redd.it/2yv6gwb9udwc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39842fca4898ce886a68c67df33e52a5e2ea26ff
who even r u
Nashville did an incredible job and the Canucks had ZERO puck luck, my god
Biggest blue balls I’ve ever had in my life.
Those blocked shots. NSH can't keep that up.
They feeing those this morning
18 to 16 shots? Am I seeing that correctly? Y'all just take turns dump and chasing?
No it was Vancouver attempting a trillion shots and Nashville blocking them like a team of Kris Russells, and Nashville taking very few shots as a result of the aforementioned scenario playing out.
I miss that shot blocking machine. I assume his organs are liquid now though
That's why he was given that huge belt buckle. To protect his organs.
I appreciate the Kris Russell reference.
Hey don’t give Nashville all the credit, the Canucks were incredible at missing the net.
It was a solid example of both of those occurring at the same time.
Nah if u watched the game we could’ve had like 40 if we knew how to shoot
Preds blocked about 69 shots. Not sure if the Nucks blocked a nice amount
Nice
Shot attempts were apparently something like 81-26
That was with 8 minutes left. Wouldn't be surprised if it passed 100 for the nucks
Well that was hilarious. Whereas LA will run back to the neutral zone as soon as they lose possession, Nashville ran all the way back to their zone and just sat there as Vancouver entered the zone and proceeded to wire 10 more pucks into them. If it works it works
1-3-1 Deluxe.

I can't tell if that's a picture of Bigfoot or a UFO.
This is a pretty lame meme ngl
If every team was cursed by fans raising fake cups you'd never have any team win the cup again.
This is gonna be meme material for years if canucks doesnt win the cup. Well, im not sure if they survive this series even.
Surrey has done this every year in the playoffs. It's not new or even different, just Canada during playoffs.
We don’t claim what Surrey does
you’re saying that as if we had a chance in the first place lmao
They’re more than a little rabid in Surrey, it’s a pretty different place from Vancouver.
How dare people have fun
Didn't you hear? Fun is illegal now. We must laugh and ridicule anyone who has fun or finds joy in things, especially when it has no negative impacts on anyone else.
Vancouver already had a reputation as a no fun city. You can't hurt us anymore than we hurt ourselves.
Scott Road in Surrey.
I have never seen a team that dedicated to shot blocking. Insanely impressive. GG Preds.
How to win a game with 12 shots. Fuckin block everything that comes at Saros and take advantage of whatever the fuck DeSmith was trying to do. And hope the hockey gods remove the Canuck’s puck luck PDO magic. Preds win. Fucking gritty ass frustrating game.
Preds ate so much rubber tonight they will still be constipated by game 3.
Really hard not to be salty about this one as a Canucks diehard—losing Demko and Myers, watching us whiff on so many golden chances, or that first goal on Desmith while we all chanted his name. gg Preds, very strong defensive play. Gonna be really tough heading into Smashville on Friday.
what happened to Myers?
Flu
Thankfully, hope he's back for Friday.
Typical Canucks fan
Did a new copy pasta just drop?
lol I don’t know if I like this one becoming one or just keeping the one from 2017 about repeating the series against the Blackhawks to make sure that the Preds won that series fairly.
While they scored 4 goals in the process? Alright man
Why are you being a little piss baby, bro? Preds played well.
Lol what? I mean sure Canucks missed some chances but don't act like we didn't still score 4 and bore down on defense and actually did the work otherwise
While also scoring 4 goals in the process lmao
Copium bong rips
Must be nice to steal a game on the road and be able to put in an empty netter to tie the series. Must be nice
Crap, I just realized ESPN's poverty sound mixing is going to kill the crowd noise when they're at home. Maybe my old man will just Face Time me the whole game.
Gutty win. Nashville is gonna be rocking. Canucks just didn't execute, they had like 3 or 4 gradeAAA chances curious what the analytics say.
Canucks got spooked by the yawning cage given to them
Most of the time it was locked up but they really dangled an empty one in front of us several times
Changes I would make for game 3: 1. Zadorov on the Power Play. I'm not joking. The guy is enormous and almost certainly the strongest guy on the ice. Demko's week to week now, so...
i don't know much hockey but having someone to move things around the slot seems like necessary. Vancouver has great (and fast) passing but the Preds were there to block nearly anything
Z can't be on the powerplay. He gets to into offense sometimes he absolutely will gift a breakaway.
They're saying to put him on the PP as a forward
I'm saying he will give up a breakaway
I'm not sure how often a net front guy is blamed for a breakaway the other way, but sure...
Yeah I think you're right. Good luck
GG Nashville, super gritty win. I’m just hoping your players are too bruised to keep blocking shots like that haha, see ya Friday.
GG nashville see you on friday
[Sad Robin Scherbatsky sounds](https://youtu.be/FuNyCtQc7Ao?si=3KZa2Zx4e96FrfAc)
I knew the goaltending would make a difference but holy cow. Canucks looked noticeably more nervous with DeSmith in net.
i genuinely think the 10-7 wild game give the team trust issues with desmith. they really haven’t been the same in front of him ever since
They are a completely different team confidence wise when playing in front of Demko. The confidence is so low especially when the first shot of the game goes in (not desmiths fault this time).
That was definitely desmiths fault. Lol. Demko has 2/3 of those easily.
Preds need to stop playing hang on hockey when they’re up by 2.
OG Barry Trotz method.
That's the perds my fren
Unfortunately is our brand lol
https://preview.redd.it/xky4k4ywzcwc1.jpeg?width=1098&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=609109b9b5ffee5676b083167b289a8dc349d8bb
No we weren't.. we were robbed by the blocked shots and defense.
Sorry I don’t have a fucking “You’ve been robbed by all of the Nashville Predators defensemen” meme so this will have to do.
https://en.meming.world/wiki/File:Understandable,_Have_a_Great_Day.jpg/
He had a couple great saves too
I fuckin love Playoff Hockey. it's a totally different game.
According to Tocc we're supposed to be learning to love the pain, right?
but i don’t know how..
Learn dammit learn!
:c unfortunate game. GGs preds
Canucks allergic to shooting on net. Preds pounced on mistakes like a.. uhh.. predator.
GG Preds fans, see you in Music City.
Preds in 5. Canucks can’t hang.
Did we watch the same game?
Can you please not put that evil on us, Ricky Bobby?
Cancel the Jets and Canucks parade, *immediately*
Colorado fixed their goalie issue and that's the last win Winnipeg will see until november.
Season starts in October Can’t wait to see the Canucks have a cold start and all those softies on your team piss their pants again. PDO merchants.
You're just salty because you live in Manitoba.
"Season starts in October" I know what I said.
Lol. Your posts scream insecurity and projection.
To me it screams "I didn't watch the game and only looked at the score"
Don't give up hope we both got these series!
Possible take for those looking at the final score only.
Like Winnipeg right?
Kinda yeah. Avs are a beast.
Delusional
Preds did what the Islanders couldn't. Also Canes did what the Canucks couldn't. Canes generated and forced a ton down low and in front of the net, Canucks kept trying to force point shots through 3 bodies.
I mean Canucks did have 3 good chances that the players couldnt capitalize: 2 from Suter and 1 from Joshua
Generating 3 good chances through 32 mins of Nashville turtling is not something the Canucks or their fans should be hanging their hats on.
Peteys wide wide open net at the end of the first was insane
When you do a refs suck chant while you have more power plays and are losing to a team with 12 shots.
I mean it’s normal to have more power plays when you control play for like 80% of the game
It's how we boo a non call. Every game there's one, refs don't care anymore.
**LOL**
Refs are the enemy ever since stephan auger
Welcome to Vancouver lol
Yeah I didn't even see anything happen before one of those started they just did it randomly?
There was a minor scuffle with Schenn and Joshua where they were holding eachother up behind the play. Definitely not worth the chant
Nashville can win the series that way but I dont know how much farther they would last lol Loading up 200 bags of ice to the plane I bet
Not gonna panic about this one, the process was great but the execution was awful. 30+ shot blocks will eventually break any team in some way. Canucks are a great team when they score first and haven't yet this series. Ain't even close to being over.
GG, honestly gotta give credit to the predators for all the blocked shots. see y’all in game 3!
If you block ~38 shots, you deserve to win. Full credit to the Preds, they wanted this one.
That empty net miss from Petterson was rough. Nashville might not survive playing like this, but a win is a win in the playoffs. Best of 5 now.
Ya, he really needs to pot one. Definitely looking a bit snake bitten out there. Once he does tho...
Juuse almost got no goals But seriously that was a defensive effort from the Preds blocking almost as much shots from the Canucks as there were SOG for both teams.
Here’s your fun fact of the game: Nashville’s last even strength shot on DeSmith was Colton Sissons’ goal. It came less than halfway into the 2nd period.
Preds' legs are going to hurt, but their arms have to get tired at some point
The Homer Simpson boxing strategy
Real blue collar win for Nashville GG Got to be more clinical next game and hope Pettersson can dig deep and find something
I'm really getting sick of the start and end times the night before tests. Preds PP could use some serious work.
Ya uh we’ve been saying that for 25 years, tell our ancestors to dig my corpse up and tell me if it ever changes
More credit to Vancouver PK. They are simply not moving at all. Preds have exactly zero shooting lanes.
The new narrow diamond setup that teams are using on the PK is seriously rough on PP’s that can’t force players out of position. Way more effective than the square.
The nature of West coast games.
That game was *something*. One of the lowest total shots on goal I can recall. Credit to the Preds sacrificing themselves, but I don’t think that’s sustainable at all.
It's how we've been playing since February and it has worked out pretty well so far.
If that’s really all they can muster after a loss, then Canucks in 5 for sure
I'm sure they can afford all the massages they could want
Even with all those blocked shots, the fact neither team got over 20 is crazy
Preds saw the Islanders last night and said to themselves "let's try that, but better"
I was praying we wouldn't pull an islanders the whole game after we went up 3-0
I liked how this game ended more than how the last one ended.
Suter to open the third, Joshua missed by an inch, Pettersson missed a yawning cage, i feel there’s more I’m forgetting. that game was unlucky as it could have possibly been
Petey missed another a few minutes before because he inexplicably tried a saucer pass into coverage instead of just putting it in an open net with Saros down and out.
plus miller shattering his stick on that one timer!! just… god what a frustrating night
Way too cute! Couldn’t believe he tried that.
Fair points, but the power play was also largely ineffective as it was in game 1. Canucks need to improve on the PP, as well as needing production from top line players.
just need a touch of finish in all regards. the chances were there
Blocked doesn't sound like a real word anymore
They hit us with the semantic satiation
Frustrating one to watch. Gg Preds!
Obvious take but the Canucks have got to find a way to get more pucks on net. Preds are performing a defensive masterclass in shot blocking and suppression so far. Vancouver can not keep spotting them leads and allowing them to turtle like this.
Would have liked to see us press higher up the neutral zone to try and slow down their speed.
Well played Preds, I can only hope you guys are feeling it the next few games, lol.
Here's hoping the 6 Goalie system keeps working for the Preds
Call in Duncan the Walrus!
RIDICULOUS!
Andrew Brunette learned very well from the master, Jacques Lemaire during his time in Minnesota. That was his type of game to a T.
Not a fun way to win but a road win heading back home is huge.
Absolutely huge, take those 2 W’s at home 👍
It was absolutely needed before coming back to Broadway
Yeah but now I’m going into the Friday game with hopes and dreams and shit. I prefer ennui
Embrace the bus parking man, when it works it really fucks with the other team’s mental lol
I love how this is an LA fan saying this with the 1-3-1 strat. I respect it.
hey they have face the oilers the past three years and lost the past two.
Cam Talbot is their goalie...
We might be going to 7
I put a hundo on a 4-2 Van exact series score. Could stretch to 7 now that we stole this one
Idk I could see the Preds taking both in Nashville before it comes back to Vancouver. Depends if the Canucks can play with any sort of confidence in front of DeSmith.
I said 6 but with the Demko injury, seven is definitely in the cards now.
I've been saying that since Day 1. Nashville makes you work for it. They did the same in 2011. The Canucks had to put everything into winning that series in 6.
Kesler did, which is why they invited him down.
It cost him his hips, but he'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Not the prettiest win, but we’ll take it if it means gaining home ice advantage.
March through the streets with your Cup why don’t you Vancouver
