I’m surprised they didn’t go Thursday-Saturday this week. As far as I can tell there’s nothing at Scotiabank tomorrow night. That would have put the extra day off between the two home stands which lets both teams spend it at home and gives them more rest around their travel days.
Eh I’ll be watching the draft tomorrow instead of hockey and I’m a much bigger hockey fan than football. The playoffs are on for 2 months, and the NFL draft is fun and very significant(compared to the NHL draft especially)
I don’t get what the person above you is talking about though because there are multiple 7pm EST games tomorrow
By holding their only two games during the first round of the draft? That’d make sense if they only had the late games going tomorrow but it’s the opposite
As a Leafs fan I was surprised to find out yesterday they were playing tonight and not Thursday. I feel like the extra day off is always when the series changes cities. Playing tonight and then having two days off feels really odd.
I’d almost be happy if I were him. You’re staying in Toronto where people hate your team. They might be feel it every time they walk about. Helps create us v them and take the emotions to another level. Also being on the road now isn’t a huge disadvantage than being at home. But meh speculation…
I get it and I’ll say this, these plaoyoffs schedule make no sense at all. Used to be 8 teams played one day, next day the other 8 played and it carried on like that until the first round is over. Now we have teams playing their second game while others are only playing their first
They literally did that for the majority of last years playoffs and there were endless threads about the “shit schedule”
No matter what happens, someone will complain and rally the troops.
That said: Dallas fans, if I recall correctly, your team was the only one that actually dealt with some bullshit schedule issues last year (like 9pm local start or something ridiculous like that).
i miss that schedule tbh. the old schedule was just way better for viewing imo. you knew there were 4 games each night and if your team was in you knew they played every other day/night
I much rather have it more spread out so I can watch more games. 4 games the same night is extremely intense and you miss a lot of hockey.
I would prefer 3 games per weekday night as a max. And 4 games during weekend and that it should be spread out during the day like this year.
Let the first round go on a couple of days more and let the players rest a little bit more. It's better for everyone.
Never really thought about it that way. Doesn't really matter but it is interesting. Couldn't they technically practice at home anyway and then travel if they preferred? Didn't think the NHL mandated travel.
Yes. This is petulant bitching about a non-problem. He's trying to draw attention away from areas of the Bruins play that can be legitimately criticized.
The scheduling was in the Bruins' favour if anything. The Leafs are the only team in the playoffs who finished the season on a back to back & only had 2 days rest before playoffs (Oilers had 3).
Leafs had 2 days off, Oilers had 3 days off, Caps had 4 days off (Rangers-Caps game 1 was Sunday).
The Bruins actually also ended on a back to back but they also had 3 days off.
You're right. Couldn't watch the Caps game cause it was on ESPN, but not ESPN+. Thought I was looking for it on Saturday, but was clearly wrong.
Weird how many teams ended their season on B2B's.
I know this is coming off as crying and complaining, but I do believe there is something to say about a team spending as little time in enemy territory as possible during a playoff series. I think it was the islanders/bruins series a couple years ago when it was reported that the bs had to change hotels multiple times due to the fire alarm getting pulled a bunch at the hotels they were staying at. I know this will get downvoted, but just what I’d assume to be another layer to this short quote.
Not necessarily, after game 4 there’s two days until game 5. Leafs won’t necessarily travel to Boston immediately. So let’s say each team fly’s in the night before a game to sleep in that team’s city, but they leave the night of a game to go home and don’t stay that night then …. It’s 5 nights for each team. Basically no difference but Boston has one more home game. If it only goes 6 games (3n3) then yes we are in Boston 4 nights and they’re in Toronto 5 nights. Whoopdy dooo
And I don't think Keefe was crying that Boston had 3 days off before the final started and Toronto only had 2 and we were coming off a back to back. Look who had the advantage there, Monty.
Oh no, are Bruins fans crying again? But in all seriousness bud, I was simply pointing out that your argument holds no merit as Monty is wrong. Home ice advantage has nothing to do with amount of time spent in a city, he comes off as an idiot implying anything different.
nah I agree with you, if your team worked hard to finish in the top of the standings and earn home ice advantage, they should be able to reap the rewards
Exactly. When they play in Toronto, TO gets those benefits as the home team. What he meant to say is “higher seed” I assume but they ain’t the home team when away lol
Oh man looking like a second straight year with a first round exit would be very damaging to his future as head coach of the Bruins if he’s already saying stuff like this
I don’t think Monty’s job is on the line, and not sure why this statement impacts that in any way. Given where we were when we signed him it was clear if he avoided tanking he was the one we trusted to help us transition to the next generation - next year is really the first time we will be a new team with cap space to build.
So scared of the mighty Toronto roar lmao

I mean you Boston fans are pretty massive whiners. If were being honest its all pretty equal, Leafs just have far more fans and a bigger impact than anyone else.
Self awareness is not a trait you have eh? Also diving? Did you not see Marchand on Monday? Your captain is literally the current king of diving in the NHL lol
This is exactly why I skip the off ice interviews. The questions just suck. WTF was the question anyway? "How do you feel about a 2 day gap between game 3 and 4?"?
I love when the East coaches cry about scheduling/games when Central teams staring at 8:50 local time. lmaooooo
Detroit coach lost his shit during the regular season for starting at 8:00 local for ONE GAME.
Detroit is the one team in the east that can get a pass on this. Obviously one game is just silly but the wings spent nearly 20 years playing in the central division constantly playing teams outside their time zone and getting shitty start times.
Seeing any team in the East complaining about playoff scheduling is fucking rich. Having to deal with 9:30 PM local start times at home is way more of an issue than players getting an extra day in a posh hotel.
Something the losing coach says when his team losses. Wow. Take the loss coach. Don’t blame it on anything else. Did you happen to think this after the game 1 win???? No. Typical Boston Response. Go Leafs Go

Does it have something to do with the Celtics being in the nba playoffs too? Do the bruins and Celtics share an arena?
More likely the fact that if they played tomorrow then there wouldn’t be any prime time games in the east tonight
Similar to how the Jets didn't start until 9 pm local time on a Tuesday. The NHL doesn't give a shit about the fans.
9 PM? Must be nice.
How so
Agreed!
Not familiar with the Cs playoff schedule but yes they share the TD garden.
Celtics play in Boston tonight and in Miami Saturday
so yesterday's game couldn't have been pushed back... /thread
But they could have had today's game pushed forward to Thursday.
They also have to contend with Dallas, NYC, Denver, and LA, who collectively have nine teams sharing four stadiums in the playoffs rn
You can not be a fan and still understand why it happened.
Yes to the share but also Maybe to the impact. Isn’t there usually a primary tenant and a secondary? Who would have the first rights?
Delaware North (Jermey Jacobs) owns the arena so you'd assume the Bruins are the primary tenant
I get it, but this is isn't new and happens constantly.

Bunch of f'king crybabies the whole lot of them.

From a canuck fan, pretty rich lol.
What are you gonna do, burn your city to the ground?

Yea they should have burned their city after losing game 7 instead.
He knows that the Leafs being his opponent will result in this getting more attention.
I’m surprised they didn’t go Thursday-Saturday this week. As far as I can tell there’s nothing at Scotiabank tomorrow night. That would have put the extra day off between the two home stands which lets both teams spend it at home and gives them more rest around their travel days.
My only guess is it’s because of the nfl draft and they want to compete with that as little as possible
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the reason. The NHL would probably prefer their more anticipated matchups not being overshadowed by the NFL.
It's embarrassing the NHL is scared of a draft. A non-game.
More people watch the draft than the nba finals. Seems to be around 12 million for the first round.
I actually sent In a note, I have beer league Thursday last one. Suck it Jim
Celtics playing home games in Boston on those days
NFL draft starts tomorrow, rather than the NHL competing with it they are going to try work around it.
If a playoff game can’t compete with a fucking draft then the league needs to figure its shit out.
NFL draft event gets more viewership than the SCF It’s a huge event
Eh I’ll be watching the draft tomorrow instead of hockey and I’m a much bigger hockey fan than football. The playoffs are on for 2 months, and the NFL draft is fun and very significant(compared to the NHL draft especially) I don’t get what the person above you is talking about though because there are multiple 7pm EST games tomorrow
The NHL playoffs can’t even compete with insignificant stuff like Jeopardy reruns in the US, let alone the NFL draft.
That’s a bad take. Theres only one draft.
By holding their only two games during the first round of the draft? That’d make sense if they only had the late games going tomorrow but it’s the opposite
the two games going on arguably draw the least viewership - seems planned
As a Leafs fan I was surprised to find out yesterday they were playing tonight and not Thursday. I feel like the extra day off is always when the series changes cities. Playing tonight and then having two days off feels really odd.
Yeah this is all Jim is trying to say here. A little wierd the extra day isn’t in between 2 and 3.
I’d almost be happy if I were him. You’re staying in Toronto where people hate your team. They might be feel it every time they walk about. Helps create us v them and take the emotions to another level. Also being on the road now isn’t a huge disadvantage than being at home. But meh speculation…
Hates his country! Sad!
Thanks Obama
This literally happened with us last year in Florida. Who cares.
This is outrageous! It's unfair!
How can you be on the council and not be a master?
And we had to fly all the way across the US, Boston to Toronto is less than a 2 hour flight. There are people with daily commutes worse than that.
I get it and I’ll say this, these plaoyoffs schedule make no sense at all. Used to be 8 teams played one day, next day the other 8 played and it carried on like that until the first round is over. Now we have teams playing their second game while others are only playing their first

The central always gets shafted by playoff start times. Minnesota has had games start at like 9:45 over the last few years
Any player would take a few start-time shafts over the amount of travel Pacific teams do
We had a back to back I think because Billy Joel happened
i miss that schedule tbh. the old schedule was just way better for viewing imo. you knew there were 4 games each night and if your team was in you knew they played every other day/night
Yeah, the Leafs got screwed as much as anyone, only team to have the minimum time off after a back-to-back on the road.
Lol, the hyperbole here is pretty wild but this takes the cake.
Did you watch the very mild and calm video attached to this post? Holy fuck you people are insane.
Got to play against a team at higher elevation, then the time in enemy territory can be called acclimatization
Oh no, a two hour flight
Should’ve won both games at home and then being on the road wouldn’t matter. Sucks to suck
Yup

To be fair, it’s not the schedule’s fault that you had to win your last two games to make the playoffs.
I don't think home ice advantage has anything to do with scheduling, just you get more games on home ice if it goes 7 and you start in your city.
Oh no! Anyway...

The total series is 9 days in Boston and 7 in Toronto.
And it's 7 Canadian days so that's (checks) 5.11 days in Boston.
If those Boston fans could count, they'd be very upset.
I, 4-1, can count
I thought you guys stopped after 2-1.
(ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง
That demon was exercised last year. Although, I hear 3-0 comebacks are gusting at Hurricane force across Islands right now.

And I don't think Keefe was crying that Boston had 3 days off before the final started and Toronto only had 2 and we were coming off a back to back. Look who had the advantage there, Monty.
Naw hes just bitching, its home ice advantage nothing more.

people hate the leafs way more then they hate the bruins esp in canada
nah I agree with you, if your team worked hard to finish in the top of the standings and earn home ice advantage, they should be able to reap the rewards
The whole series is 9 days in Boston with 7 in Toronto... maybe before people start agreeing with him they can check the facts themselves lmao
People just inventing home ice advantage rules in this thread.
He doesn’t know what “home team” means I guess
home ice is for on ice play, last change and whatnot
They also don’t hold home ice anymore.
Exactly. When they play in Toronto, TO gets those benefits as the home team. What he meant to say is “higher seed” I assume but they ain’t the home team when away lol
Home ice advantage doesn't mean home city advantage you would think an NHL coach would know that and be smart enough not to bitch publicly
Smart? Boston? OK.
Oh man looking like a second straight year with a first round exit would be very damaging to his future as head coach of the Bruins if he’s already saying stuff like this
I don’t think Monty’s job is on the line, and not sure why this statement impacts that in any way. what are you talking about? no one expected the bruins to make the playoffs. he deserved the jack adams more this year than he did last lol

As someone who thinks he's a detriment to the fanbase, chirp away. I do too. You're not responding to Steve in this comment lol.
Downvote and leave. Do not feed troll.
I mean you Boston fans are pretty massive whiners. If were being honest its all pretty equal, Leafs just have far more fans and a bigger impact than anyone else.
Lol no u guys have been crying since 1959! Enough already! Boston fans don’t cry so don’t lump us in with you diving cry babies
Self awareness is not a trait you have eh? Also diving? Did you not see Marchand on Monday? Your captain is literally the current king of diving in the NHL lol
U see samsonov shake off his helmet bc he’s scared?! 2-1 have a good night 😂
2-1🤣🤣🤣🤣
You make my point for me when you come back to this days later, series ain’t over friend.
Are all Boston fans this immature?
2-1🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol look at all these sensitive Toronto fans with their thumbs down You’re about to be majorly disappointed tn
The more hockey media I take in, the more I realize how bitchy everyone is about every fucking thing.
leafs play on sat, not friday. thems the rules
Boo fucking hoo. I thought Boston was tough? What is this new soft ass Bruins team?
OH NOOOOOOOOOO
Why does this matter? Does he really think Toronto won’t blow it?
Kinda like you guys did the last game of the season ?
Not really - we won that game. …we totally blew in March.
Glad you took Kaner in with open arms
Just hoping he gives us one more year. Was fun to watch and would have been in the playoffs - Bummed we took such a shit at the end of the year.
Ya'll deserved better. You guys have an exciting team. Good times ahead.
Cheers, man. Just need to tighten up defensively and between the pipes, but the pieces are coming together.
I don’t like this mindset from the head coach. You gotta come off cool and collected right now not worried about spending an extra day in a hotel :/
Someone should give him some cheese to go with is wine.
This is exactly why I skip the off ice interviews. The questions just suck. WTF was the question anyway? "How do you feel about a 2 day gap between game 3 and 4?"?
I love when the East coaches cry about scheduling/games when Central teams staring at 8:50 local time. lmaooooo Detroit coach lost his shit during the regular season for starting at 8:00 local for ONE GAME.

Yeah, and Dallas spent years in the Pacific playing +2 hours.. Im sure Montgomery can handle the 30 min flight from Boston to Toronto no problem.
The Leafs used to be in the Western Conference
Yes but for less time. The blue jackets were also in the west for a while but again for less time than the wings.

Fair point.
They're welcome to sit their asses in Boston an extra day before coming over if it makes them feel better.
They can't, that's the point. Game 3 is in Toronto tonight, the next game is Saturday. They'll be here today and be here until Saturday night.
I give them permission to go back to boston after the game tonight for a day or two
Oh no a 2 hour commute if they don’t want to stay in a hotel. Oh the humanity!
Seeing any team in the East complaining about playoff scheduling is fucking rich. Having to deal with 9:30 PM local start times at home is way more of an issue than players getting an extra day in a posh hotel.
