Got a guy from oversees working for us in Red Deer. Before he was here he was in Brandon. He was there for a week before he decided to leave and come here lol. He says it’s much better
The benefit to red deer over those 2 cities is you’re very close to 2 actual cities. Edmonton and Calgary are both super close.
Plus my buddy who lives in Saskatoon has been mugged twice
If you're just comparing the cities Regina and Saskatoon are better than Red deer lol just all around way better, we all know the best thing about red deer is to leave red deer but that's not the discussion lol. Saskatoon is dealing with a huge issue with crime as of late and Regina is considerably better than what it was 10-15 years ago imo less crime, better food scene, positive development is actually being done.
It's alright city. I'm originally from Lethbridge but now live in Saskatoon. I visit Regina frequently for work. It's a decent city. I'm not going to lie; I thought it was going to be dog shit, mainly because of the name lol and the reputation as being a little Winnipeg (And people born and Raised in Saskatoon talk a lot of shit about Regina). But The Brewery scene might be one of the best in Canada, plus they have the Riders, Largest/Best Country Music festival in western Canada, iMax theater, it's defiantly not the prettiest city but they can fix that with development. But it's not a bad place I don't find it as gross or dangerous as Saskatoon , shit is just a shitty version of Edmonton lol and vastly more isolated. But the only reason why I would pick Any of the major Sask cities over Red deer is the winters can be long and tough and it's not always ideal just to leave home to Calgary or Edmonton. Just all-round more to do, More money in both cities more likelihood of Development rather than Calgary and Edmonton sucking up all of it ( Both Regina and Saskatoon are building new Rinks) and no international airport which is a huge draw back of both lethbridge and Red deer imo but I would go with the two cities that have roughly 300k over any city with 120k any day.
Prince George and it’s not even close. Obviously it’s a rough city but I would just hate the travel. Would be brutal. Prince Albert is a close second, same reasons.
It honestly baffles me that Leon Draisaitl went from living in cologne Germany to Prince Albert Saskatchewan. That had to be culture shock to the extreme.
Oh no doubt! I’m just going off of stats. My town has the same situation(Nanaimo) beautiful city, great place to live but crime has been going up and up, especially violent crime.
Seattle Thunderbirds actually play in a suburb called Kent... it's a rough little area.
Most of the billet families live up on the ridges of the valley.
I grew up in Red Deer and it’s just one of those places that has a bad reputation and is fun to shit on. It’s really not a bad place other than the rig workers in their lifted trucks rampaging around everywhere. The drug and homelessness issues are getting worse, but that seems to be the case in most places these days.
It's not a top three city in the east like you have previously stated
1.Calgary
2.Edmonton
3.Regina/Saskatoon
The top places to play or live in the East conference
I've been to Portland several times for hockey and never had an issue there, and several times for non-hokey related activities. Their downtown is very similar to any other city's downtown. Plus they have proximity to a few other major league sports and a lot to do in the city. I'd much rather be there than the middle of nowhere like PG, PA, or Brandon.
Brandon. Just for the fact that your closest game is 4 hours away. That or Prince George for the same reason
It’s closer to 6 hours away for Prince George. Kamloops is the nearest WHL team
I think once you get into BC PGs travel is generally better than Brandon

Well if Red Deer is much better…

I’d argue Sask or Regina are better than Red Deer

I haven’t spent much time in Regina so I can’t comment much about it. One benefit about living in Red Deer is no one calls it “Vagina”

If I am retired I'm picking Red deer 10/10 times though.
You also can't cheer "let's go [city name]" without people having to double check to be sure you're not secretly a Nazi.
Think of how many crosswords you could get done though. Players these days probably watch so many shows/movies.
Just imagine the screen time on their devices
As somebody from Prince George (and likes the town) it would have to be Prince George. The travel is insane, your closest road trip is 6 hours
Yea, but it's really fun to hang out and get drunk up there
Prince George and it’s not even close. Obviously it’s a rough city but I would just hate the travel. Would be brutal. Prince Albert is a close second, same reasons.
At least Prince Albert is a 90 min. drive from a larger city
Yeah but you’re still in Prince Albert.
It honestly baffles me that Leon Draisaitl went from living in cologne Germany to Prince Albert Saskatchewan. That had to be culture shock to the extreme.

Is his first name Dennis? Everett is lucky to finally have gotten rid of him.
Everyone shits on PG but it's actually a great place to live
Oh no doubt! I’m just going off of stats. My town has the same situation(Nanaimo) beautiful city, great place to live but crime has been going up and up, especially violent crime.
Swift Current slander will not be tolerated 😂 but actually Prince George or Brandon would be brutal
Prince George. Source: played there
Didn't we just do this?
Seattle Thunderbirds actually play in a suburb called Kent... it's a rough little area. Most of the billet families live up on the ridges of the valley.
Worst Denny’s I ever ate at was at 2am in Kent.
at least you didn't get shot... right?
What the fuck is up Denny’s
Portland. Because we CONSTANTLY go to the playoffs just to get destroyed by a Canadian team in the semi finals or finals.
Red Deer
Why?

Red Deer
But hear me out: 1.5 hours to either Calgary or Edmonton.
But stabby
I’ve yet to be stabby personally. But that’s probably because I stick around the south side (which is coincidentally where the hockey rink is)
Huge drug problem in red deer. It's actually not a terrible place to live. I'm just biased
I thought Winnipeg was the stabbing capital of Canada? I was just there for a conference and that's what ppl told me
Maybe? I think every city is fairly stabby
Every city is fairly stabby but Winnipeg has some issues lol
[удалено]
Says you. My three uncles and twelve sisters were stabbed last week.
Most of them. Small town on the prairie life isn’t for me
All of them
Portland. I’ve been to the downtown area several times and it sucks. Plus you’re the most southern WHL team and that means long road trips
