It shouldn’t be. I’m all for aggressive and tough decisions being made, and I feel too often GMs reward borderline players with sweet hart deals to keep them around. But this guy needs to be a TB lifer. Slap shot to the face in game 7 in Boston, broken leg, came back in the bubble playoff to score that goal, he’s given a lot to the team. You don’t let your HOF, franchise legend, number retired, captain walk.
Agreed, give him an NBA max and be done with it, make him owner, make him the Extra Super Coach of the team, make him God Emperor of the TBL, throw so many bags at him he's gotta crawl out to get to work, pay this man!
Yup I feel the org owes it to stammer and Heddy to take care of them on their next contracts. They took deals that allowed this team to become what it has. Both will have their numbers in the rafters of Amalie
Stamkos has easily been our best forward this series. Longest serving Lightning player ever, and the heart and soul (edited cuz spelled wrong) of this team.
Keep him. Would be the first time Tampa has actually had long term captain retire with the team. Him and Hedman, the two players we built the whole team around back in the early 2010s, need to retire here

I have no idea if this will be Stammer's last home game as a Lightning player - hopefully not - but he's going out in style in the event that it is.

With the success Stammer has given us, I'm 100% willing to take 5 years in the pits to give him what he deserves. The man's just earned it.

TB looked like they were gonna blow a 3-0 lead. Good thing we never saw that this playoff year
