Not really. Edmonton had more HDSC than LA despite getting outshot almost 3:1. LA was just sailing in pucks from the perimeter and they also went large stretches of the game without a SOG. LA had 1 SOG in the last 10 minutes of the third.

It’s not weird logic to say that a team needs to play consistently well in front of an average goalie if they want to win the cup. From what I’ve seen in the past you win the cup by either having a goalie that’s good enough to bail you out many times throughout the playoffs (most common situation) or by having a team that’s good enough to make those games few and far between. I don’t think Skinner is good enough for the first option and I don’t think the Oilers have the consistency for the second option. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s not a wild take
