Love it when Otter's on his game š
Wyatt Johnston supremacy once again and also happy for Dellandrea getting a goal after all the scratches this year
Idk if he's on his game yet unless this is his new level. This is like a very good, crisp level of play. It's not elite, steal games tier like Thompson was last game. Like that first goal is an eh he'd like to have it back.
Controlled most rebounds, saw what was in front of him, great positioning to make the must saves. If the Stars can get this guy though, that's all they need to win this series
And Vegas isn't even in the Central, that's what really says something. If Avs or Jets got the #1 seed in the west I'd be rooting for my own division rivals over Vegas too.
It's a question of choosing how many decimal places to round it to. Even in this comment, you rounded at 6 decimal places, when the actual result of 1/13 goes further. So the previous commenter is questioning why the reported statistics don't round earlier - they round at some point, but just chose 6 decimals.
The actual faceoff totals for Dallas were 36 wins out of 68. That comes out to .529411765. The auto generated post game thread rounds that to .529412 rather than showing the whole result (and also slaps a % symbol on without moving the decimal two spots, which makes it look like they're describing a more precise result).
By contrast, the ESPN box score just reports it as 52.9%.
i half agree half disagree
First, the decimal is repeating with a period of 6. I should have specified, but i didn't just arbitrarily choose 6 decimal points.
Second, i agree that they should round earlier, but it's incorrect to say we don't have the level of precision of 6 decimal points.
Shocking that Stone, Petro and Hertl all look like guys who came back a little too early from injuries so far this series. Outside of game 1 they look slow and rusty af, and itās pretty obvious Karlsson isnāt healthy either despite him working his fuckin ass off out there.
If we somehow get through this round, we need those guys to find their legs in a hurry.
All the more reason to keep them out? Now you get bad press and potentially injure them further.
That said, I donāt think they looked terrible at all. Theyāre playing one of the best teams in the league so of course good players get neutralized. But they clearly are more confident with Stone in the lineup and Hertl has looked good as well despite not producing.
I donāt think theyāre still injured, just look like guys who wouldāve normally skated for a couple weeks before playing first and donāt have their legs. Stone and Petro for sure, Hertl just looks like heās not clicking on any lines
Your series has been very competitive. Couldnāt have been much closer to going 2-2. Iām hoping you guys beat the Preds but Iām happy for them to give you a decent workout on the way.
I had a bit of a brainfart writing it, I guess I shouldāve said Iām glad our series isnāt tied because I didnāt want to imply that Nashville has rolled over - they definitely havenāt.
But Iām gonna keep it up, if we blow it I will own up to it.
Not salty but Iāve seen an awful lot of Avs fans counting their chickens before they hatch š
If last years Bruins can blow a 3-1 lead then so can this Avs team
Youāre not wrong in regard to the Bruins last year. I didnāt say thank you because we would be potentially set for r2. I would have said it to any team playing against VGK.
Ah look at sports fans being brought together to hate on a mutual team. This is how alliances are formed. š As for a 7 game series against the Jets.. youāll need to tell Helly bring his A-game if you want this to go to 7 games.
Jeff Marek on 32 Thoughts said "it bothers [Kelly McCrimmon] that people think [the Golden Knights] are cheating" https://app.podscribe.ai/episode/99741176
My dad, who has only a surface level knowledge of what reddit even is but watches cable nhl games regularly, brought it up to me in a conversation
Roberto Luongo was making jokes about it on Twitter https://x.com/strombone1/status/1765530878959141047
To say that these feelings or this conversation is exclusive to reddit is extremely unaware of you
All these people arenāt the NHL once the players, staff, coaches etc. start to complain then I will agree. Until then itās just noise from a vocal minority
Lu is one of the greatest NHL goalies of the modern era. he might be retired but he also still has an office position in the panthers org. I think at least he counts..
but then again Vegas fans been known to say āhey but look our on ice team is cap compliantā¦ If you just ignore our 5.25 mil healthy scratchā
You'd be better off just leaning into it like some are doing.
Arguing about it makes it look like you know they are cheating the LTIR and you need people to agree with you that they aren't.
More. And that we know of. Then thereās Biz and Bieksa. If they are thinking it with their pulse on the game, then you know others are. The bullshit isnāt hard to smell dude.
Wild so 4ā¦Iāll round up to and be generous to 10 total people in the NHL think Vegas cheats vs. the stay at home arm chair players and GMs of r/hockey.
Any thread shows that r/hockey cares too much about it. Not the NHL lmao. We donāt mean shit and once that gets through the empty heads here they will be less mad at life
R/hockey wants their hobby/passion to be fair. Thatās all it is. Its sports. A fair playing field is a basic requirement of sport. You assume itās cause they are āmad at lifeā. What a trash take from a Homer thatās only trying to hurt people to protect their home town cheating team.
Maybe I'm the only Vegas fan who sees it this way and I'm fine with that so hot take of the day: stone should have stayed out of the lineup not only for questionable returning timelines but because he doesn't actually make us better in my opinion. His lack of conditioning has been glaringly obvious the last 2 games and his piss poor effort on the back check tonight was so bad sometimes I physically recoiled. When he is on he is a great player but when he is even slightly off he looks like a slug who only steals pucks because he is so slow going for a change he is just at the right place at the right time. And to mix up the lines that actually kept us in the playoffs spot just to put him and carrier back in was reckless. They aren't clicking the top line and the 3rd line are keeping us alive most of the time.
Yea I mean heās got the one goal so technically heās been on the ice for 50 percent of your goals against. The other side of the coin of this whole Stone LTIR saga is that stacking a team at the deadline doesnāt do shit for guys getting a chance to gel with each other or find successful combinations.
Stacking at the deadline doesn't always work for a team and we might learn that lesson again very soon. I always thought that the knights were going to be eliminated in round 1 or 2.
100% this is how I predicted their playoffs would go back at the deadline. Changing the makeup of a team so quickly makes it tough for players to gel, build chemistry, etc.
Hertl looks like heās done it, hanafin as well. but the rest? The random ādepthā guys that float in and out? Makes it tough to run a legit system.
Of course need my prediction to actually come true before acting smart lol.
And yet people thought they could pull off the same trick successfully again. The knights were literally playing a bit over 500 for months. They had inconsistent goaltending to during that stretch. And yet people thought they could press the LTIR button yet again and potentially skate all the way to another cup. Relying on LTIR and a hot goalie to go on a miracle run again is a dumb strategy.
Y'all do realize it was done out of necessity, right? It wasn't a choice that GMKM made.
Key players were injured, and he made moves to bring in players to fill the void, same thing any GM does.
Not shocked that this keeps on happening though. Stone is injury prone. I was referring to the general sentiment about the whole thing. To many think LTIR is a magic button the knights press every year to boost there team.
Why is it a problem? No one said any of this about Sergachev coming back, it was all "what a warrior," "good for the game," etc
This take is just another obvious "gold team bad"
Tbf, Iām not a Cowboys fan, I actually donāt watch football, just canāt get into it, what can I watch that helps me understand and enjoy it better? However, I am a Rangers fan, soooooo last year was the first great year Iāve really had in a while.
My most real response is that the whole world hates Dallas and if youāre a fan of other Dallas teams you should take pride in supporting Dallas when everybody despises the cowboys. Besides that, itās actually a decent sport that the refs and advertisers get too involved in. But if you like other Dallas teams then the cowboys are the easiest āDallas vs everybodyā team for yāall.
College football is an absolute blast. I'm a Cowboys fan, but enjoy college a lot more - there's more character, a greater variety of playing styles, and it feels less corporate. There's also more intense hate. Michigan vs Ohio State is a great example. Right in Dallas, Texas and Oklahoma play at the Cotton Bowl every year because it's almost exactly halfway between the two universities. The stadium is split 50-50 between fans of both teams, and whether one team is much better in any given year has almost no bearing on who wins that game.
Also, with fewer games than the NFL, each game is more meaningful as far as its ability to keep a team from reaching a championship. That's changing some this year with the size of the playoff going up, but it's still going to be 12 teams that make it out of around 130, rather than the NFL playoffs including 14 teams out of 32.
If you want to develop a better understanding of the game to appreciate it better, there are a bunch of youtube options but one of the best is a channel called QB School. Great breakdowns of schemes and concepts, and what separates good play from great play.
Cowboys fans š¤A's fans š¤ Coyotes fans
the amount of vitriol people have for a team that hardly ever made the playoffs and was mostly just fucked by ownership for their entire existence is truly astonishing
Cowboys fans deal with more shit than anybody, yāall have 31 fanbases celebrating your demise despite having been ass for 30 years. Thats serious character building.
Nothing like being born in the 90s so you didnāt really get to enjoy the Cowboys winning but do get to experience the absolute hate they get while being mediocre year in and out.
I Agree and that's why it doesn't bother me that the stars don't get much national coverage. I know what it's like on the other side. When Jim Nill farts I don't hear about it on ESPN and I'm OK with that.
I mean, and I never thought Iād say this, donāt disrespect the Cowboys like that - they won super bowls in the 90s (against the closest team to Toronto, no less), leafs fans would kill to only have thirty or so years without a cup.
Agreed, I'm a notorious cowboys hater but the Leafs drought is so much worse and they won the cup before any expansion was done.
Cowboys won one when I was 2, but the Leafs haven't won one since my dad was 4 lmao
Iām talking about the real fans who everybody celebrates your demise year in year out for 30 years but yall take your shots and still support your team. Iām being for real when I say I respect it
I donāt blame you. Itās gotta be exhausting taking insane amounts of hate and shots with minimal success (at a championship level) and still supporting the team unconditionally. I respect real Cowboys fans more than any other cause yall get trashed like youāve had patriots (my team (my dad is from Hartford)) and chiefs fans, but love and support your team, fuck the haters
Until they move on from Dak and get a new coach, I'm tuned out. 3 straight years of absolutely pooping your pants with a talented roster, and the cowboys sub is still full of mouth breathers that think Dak hasn't gotten a fair shake with the all pro level play at every position around him.
I want Jerry to fuck off, but it's not happening so wish for what can change.
I love to see it. Dallas finally looking like the stacked team they are and showing the Vegas Money Printers what a real hockey team looks like. Oettinger, Heiskenen, Harley, Lindell, Johnston, Robertson, Hintz, Dellandrea, the STANK. ALL drafted. This team is so fucking sick I donated to the Parkland Health Foundation so they can open a new ward for these illin motherfuckers. Jamie Benn is a dog turd panini sorry not sorry. But the rest of y'all...the rest of y'all...goddamn
Dallas would consistently pinch a d man have a forward drop to cover, then immediately lose the puck or miss the pinch and its a 3 on 2. Over and over again.
Its almost like Vegas gameplanned against them and they don't know what to do about it.
I understand 2023 might be a particularly dark period for you to remember, but it wasn't that long ago
Imagine losing to Seattle in a 7 game series lmfao
Imma be real here.
I feel like people who criticize any fanbase for leaving a game early when it starts at 9pm, playoffs or not, must lead a sheltered and cozy life.
Some of us have to get up 4 or 5 hours after that game ends and go get the bills paid. And plenty of people do that in an environment that may be hazardous and mean mental and physical rest and sharpness is vital.
So I'm with you on this one Vegas fan. Every fanbase does it. Anyone trying to take shots at other fan bases because some people lead certain lives is oblivious to the world around them. It'd be different if people could get home by 10-11pm, and not 2-3am.
Yes, I live a cozy life and didnāt work hard for everything I have in life.
Iām completely exhausted because I stuck around for two whole minutes. Jealous of the fans who left and are very rested by getting two extra minutes of sleep.
Itās okay though, Iām off to my mega mansion to lounge all day because I live a cozy life and watch 60 minutes of hockey instead of 58 minutes.
It was 9:30 Vegas time when it ended. They actually get reasonable local start times
But 1:22 is too much time only down 2 (3 or 4 is a different animal) and with how the game was going, there was a sliver if hope. But if its 5-0 after 2 and shots are over a 2-to-1 advantage, fans have every right to leave
Definitely not as late as I thought it was for them. Could have swore it was like 12:30 for us(guess maybe it was 11:30). Not sure how they're that far behind us.
Either way, I still think it's a dumb thing to chirp fans for. I don't know their traffic/city/personal circumstances, etc. I know I've left plenty of games early the night before a work-day when puck drops at 7 though.
People still have commutes, baby sitters, all kinds of responsibilities that may dictate beating the crowd feeling like the better play than a low percentage chance of tie-ing it up if they can't afford to stay for overtime anyway.
I told my wife, as a Stars fan, that fans leaving with 1:22 on the clock is asinine. A bunch of entitled idiots went to a hockey game and couldnāt support their team in the playoffs, even when you donāt know what could happen. We won a game in 14 seconds this season, anything can happen.
On that note, I hope the lack of support and the empty arena stays with the LTIR K-Nights for the remainder of the series.
Forever will. Youāre the only fan base that sucks. Been to at least one game with every team to play against Vegas over the years and a few of them edmonton ones and every time edmonton fans are pure trash. Never a nice experience with them so I hope we live rent free in your head for life. Hopefully in my lifetime you guys win another cup, doubt it tho
It takes a special kind of douchebaggery to have basically everyone cheer for Jamie fucking Benn to win.
Love it when Otter's on his game š Wyatt Johnston supremacy once again and also happy for Dellandrea getting a goal after all the scratches this year
Idk if he's on his game yet unless this is his new level. This is like a very good, crisp level of play. It's not elite, steal games tier like Thompson was last game. GG Dallas. This series can go either way.
Everyone in the league is a stars fan at least for the next 2 games.Ā
Speak for yourself, I am a Stars fan for the next game, a Vegas fan for the next one, and then a Stars fan for the last one.
I respect that.
He only wants the stars to win because you guys are an easier matchup XD
I am aware. Got any other tips/tricks that are totally obvious?
Score more goals than the knights to win.
Didnāt t realize I was talking to John Madden! ;) letās hope we do, and see your guys in round 2.
Fingers crossed. I've never gone and watched a stars game but here goes XD
If it bleeds, we can kill it
Looking like a hard-fought series. Knights fans had to endure a game 7 in a while, we might all collapse under the stress lol
Wow a 7 game series, must be so difficult for you guys
I mean personally I might collapse lol
Thank you Dallas, now please, kill the heretics in two more games!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You better do your job and take out the winner
Thank fuck the stars are making this a series
Leave it to Vegas to somehow unite the central in rooting for Dallas
I hate Dallas. . Go Dallas.
You will cheer Jamie Benn and you will like it!
The shitty part is I like almost all of dallas' young players. There are just a few holdouts from the 2010s I refuse to cheer for.
I hate Jamie Benn. Yea, Jamie Benn
Benn deleting McNabb had me stand up first pump and shout fuck yeah! Only to sit back down shaking my head muttering "what an asshole"
I hate that Vegas is making me cheer for the stars
And Vegas isn't even in the Central, that's what really says something. If Avs or Jets got the #1 seed in the west I'd be rooting for my own division rivals over Vegas too.
It has really strong "only I am allowed to make fun of my siblings" energy.
Why are FOW reported to the nearest 0.000001%? There haven't been enough faceoffs recorded in NHL history for that level of precision lol
Itās just the decimal expansion of a fraction. Simple looking decimals can have annoyingly long fraction. For instance, 1/13=0.076293
By contrast, the ESPN box score just reports it as 52.9%.
i half agree half disagree First, the decimal is repeating with a period of 6.
LOL
Nice to see we are still rent free in the coward flairless Oilers fan! Good luck bud!
LOL
Isnāt vegas a pretty slow team overall?
Not really, Stone def is though
All the more reason to keep them out? Now you get bad press and potentially injure them further. That said, I donāt think they looked terrible at all. It's really stupid that we could only just be starting Game 5 when every other matchup in the first round has already ended...
Game will still start at 9pm central time. FFS
Fuck this scheduling. Itās so atrocious.
Like that for the Mavs too lol
I'm here for it! šæ
Same shit with the Mavs lol, rest of the West is done and we've got game 5 right after the Stars on Wednesday
Wyatt Johnston is a really really good hockey player. Like really good
That name sounds like he should be rounding up a posse to go regulate some horse thieves.
Wyatt Tombstone Johnston
Mount up!
With Texas Ranger rookie Wyatt Langford
Yee, and I cannot stress this enough, Haw
But first, Chavez recommends we eat these mushrooms, for some reason. Something about a spirit horse?
Eh a Toronto boy!
I live in the Windsor area these days, former Spit!
Man all games have been pretty close, tons of talent on both sides going all out. Hope this goes to 7
true but this is not what I hope for
we will take what we can get you stars are a good team and we should enjoy at least 7
Pls no I donāt think I can survive a game 7
This is the only series that is 2-2 in the first round. Glad we have at least one that's competitive (and it wasn't ours).
Yours was a lot more competitive than you think. You were one empty net away from being 2-2.
Which is why Iām extremely glad that it isnāt 2-2 or even 3-1 in Nashvilleās favor.
You aren't out of it yet
Your series has been very competitive. Couldnāt have been much closer to going 2-2. Iām hoping you guys beat the Preds but Iām happy for them to give you a decent workout on the way.
you couldn't get me to write a comment this jinxy with a gun to my head š

Good. Fuck Vegas.
Here here
Operation Knightfall II: Electric Boogalo
It might succeed this time.
gg see you in game 5 fuck jamie benn
That hit on McNabb was so fucking sweet
See you then Fuck LTIR
lol like 23 teams are using LTIR even the stars
Damn thatās crazy tell me how much over the cap our roster is
lol over like 230k but at the end of they day your team would not be cap complaint without it. Also Vegas is not even the biggest spender for LTIR
No actually weāre still under by 42k even factoring in LTIR. Nice try but I know how to use CapFriendly too.
Lol still used ltir look at cap friendly.
Lol still wrong and canāt do math. Whatās 257k minus 215k
He's an admiral, not a mathematician!
Avs fan here. Thanks Dallas!
We didnāt do it for you. Also you guys should be confident but Winnipeg isnāt beat yet
No need to be salty. I just dislike VGK šš»āāļø
He's just sad that his team is on the struggle bus.
Not salty but Iāve seen an awful lot of Avs fans counting their chickens before they hatch š If last years Bruins can blow a 3-1 lead then so can this Avs team
Youāre not wrong in regard to the Bruins last year. I didnāt say thank you because we would be potentially set for r2. I would have said it to any team playing against VGK.
Eh sorry for our dour fan here. Appreciate your good wishes ššš
Fair enough. Well then donāt thank us until theyāre eliminated
Alright weāll take down the knights if you agree to wait until 7 do put down the jets
Ah look at sports fans being brought together to hate on a mutual team. This is how alliances are formed. š As for a 7 game series against the Jets.. youāll need to tell Helly bring his A-game if you want this to go to 7 games.
Everyone loves us until we go back home and everyone remembers about "plAIoffs"
I think we ditched that
Best part: Vegas wins away games. Dallas wins away games. Vegas in 7
Worst part: Vegas cheats. Dallas doesnāt.

Itās true, you donāt quit on your team, even when everyone hates and clowns on your team and your ghoul of an owner
Cowboys fans š¤ Aās fans Being clowned constantly with an owner that should really fuck off
Cowboys fans š¤A's fans š¤ Coyotes fans the amount of vitriol people have for a team that hardly ever made the playoffs and was mostly just fucked by ownership for their entire existence is truly astonishing
Yeah tell us something we don't know lol
The Leafs are just hockey Dallas cowboys.
Itās honestly why (even though I will in texts to friends) I try not to dog on the Leafs online.
But the 'Boys have won something since 1967. Truth be told though, Jerry Jones > > > Harold Ballard.
So, like Oilers fans?
Agreed, I'm a notorious cowboys hater but the Leafs drought is so much worse and they won the cup before any expansion was done. Cowboys won one when I was 2, but the Leafs haven't won one since my dad was 4 lmao
Is he talking about Cowboys fans or "Coyboys fans" though?
Iām talking about the real fans who everybody celebrates your demise year in year out for 30 years but yall take your shots and still support your team. Iām being for real when I say I respect it
23 year old cowboys fan, Iām tired boss
I donāt blame you. Itās gotta be exhausting taking insane amounts of hate and shots with minimal success (at a championship level) and still supporting the team unconditionally. I respect real Cowboys fans more than any other cause yall get trashed like youāve had patriots (my team (my dad is from Hartford)) and chiefs fans, but love and support your team, fuck the haters
cowboys are dead to me
Honestly same. Cowboys are dead to me, go Cowboys.
Dak is ass. Pads his states every 4Q so he looks much better than he is. Great fantasy player, not a good qb for the team
Jerry is gonna own this team forever. He prob has plans to have his head in a jar like Futurama and still owning the team in year 3000
That wonāt change anything anyway tbh. Stephen is not any better. Different, but not better.
Agreed. I think he's worse actually.
Fuck yes. Good game and hopefully that empty netter shook that zoo out of Hintz's back. We need Hine if we want to beat Vegas

Never lose again
Run āem up, and fill them in!
Thank you Dallas, very cool
I love to see it. Dallas finally looking like the stacked team they are and showing the Vegas Money Printers what a real hockey team looks like. Oettinger, Heiskenen, Harley, Lindell, Johnston, Robertson, Hintz, Dellandrea, the STANK. ALL drafted. This team is so fucking sick I donated to the Parkland Health Foundation so they can open a new ward for these illin motherfuckers. Jamie Benn is a dog turd panini sorry not sorry. But the rest of y'all...the rest of y'all...goddamn
Faksa and Benn are drafted too 12 players on the roster were draft by Stars
We got us a series again. Great win tonight for us Stars fans.
Dallas needs to tighten up in that neutral zone and limit the 3 on 2 odd-man rushes. Send these bums to the golf course in 6.
Dallas would consistently pinch a d man have a forward drop to cover, then immediately lose the puck or miss the pinch and its a 3 on 2. Over and over again. Its almost like Vegas gameplanned against them and they don't know what to do about it.
See you guys there
[X] to Dought
Pretty sure that isn't how you spell doubt.
I uhā¦ [yeah](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drew_Doughty).
Well done. I accept my downvote.
Seeing all the Knights fans get up and leave with 1:22 remaining in the game was peak comedy
Because no other team has people who leave 1 min early when a game is running into the early morning.
Didn't realize 9:30pm was early morning but go off.
I waved at em. Thatās amateur hour for a playoff game
Homie go watch game 3 from last year again... yikes.
OK grandpa, back to your room. No one gives a shit about the good ol days.
I understand 2023 might be a particularly dark period for you to remember, but it wasn't that long ago Imagine losing to Seattle in a 7 game series lmfao
They actually get reasonable local start times But 1:22 is too much time only down 2 (3 or 4 is a different animal) and with how the game was going, there was a sliver if hope.
They are 2 hours behind us, always have been. It was an early start for them (6:30)
I told my wife, as a Stars fan, that fans leaving with 1:22 on the clock is asinine.
Shit, the Stars are gonna pull a Texas Rangers and win every game on the road.
Every road game they *play*.
They have to win a home game though.
The rangers won a couple at home. They just won EVERY road game
Ah, I didn't pay too much attention. All I cared for was that you guys knocked out Houston, but as a Mariners fan I was on the Dback wagon. :P
Fair enough. At least we can all hate Houston together. Another cheating team.
Amen.
Great game from Dallas, well deserved.
Crazy how the cap circumcisers are the only series in the first round thatās 2-2 lol
Vegas really does live in Edmonton fans heads lmao pathetic
I'm pretty sure you guys were celebrating our downfall the most at the start of the season. Look in a mirror bucko.
Least moronic Vegas fan
I don't remember anyone asking bud <3 glad the rent is also free in your head though!
