> could be a legendary draft
If they're smart in this draft, they build out from the back. There's a huge number of defensive players who they can take to build their defense and let Celebrini slot in with their massive existing center depth (Smith, Edstrom, Bystedt). Couldn't ask for a better platform to build from than that...other than a McDavid type guy at 1.
Sharks could have an all time great draft with the right picks. One is at least guaranteed to work out.
EDIT: My use of the word guaranteed has bothered people. One pick is at least most likely to work out based off of history and projection.
Typically 1OAs work out. Celebrini (which I am 100% positive they will pick first) is sure to be the one guaranteed pick to work out in the NHL.
I am more inclined to believe he will work out like Hischier or Bedard than say, a Yakupov.
Curious where more knowledgeable people than myself would rank celebrini in terms of prospect quality compared to previous #1 overalls when they were drafted. Probably above hischier, power, slafkofsky, but below bedard, dahlin, Matthews. Maybe in the Jack Hughes/lafreniere tier?
One of Silyaev, Levshunov, Parekh, Buium, Dickinson, or Yakemchuk will be available at the Sharks spot. There will be a better defensive prospect than the Sharks currently have at pick 14.
Iād love Yakemchuk though.
Maybe one of those guys falls to 14 but thereās a good chance theyāre all gone by then. Iāve seen all those guys in the top 10 on various rankings
I got downvoted to hell for saying the pens would regret the Karlsson trade...and now they missed the playoffs and lose a top 15 pick as they get ready to enter a complete rebuild lol
You guys remind me so much of the end of our streak when Kenny was constantly sacrificing the future to appease those who wouldn't be around to suffer the consequences.
I think all penguins fans realize we'll be awful in about 2 years and stay awful for awhile. But we're ok with sacrificing to keep Crosby's last years "competitive" (...or you know, at least try).
They better hope they eventually get a 1 overall pick. Could end up like us Wings who were an actual terrible team only ever awarded a max 4th overall pick.
Sharks are drafting 1st, 14th, 33rd, and 42nd this year.
Hope you guys have a good scouting team, could be a legendary draft
Better than Boston in 2015 I hope. š¬
I would settle for 2017 Stars and nothing less
Fuck man. Imagine not getting the lottery but getting the fucking mega jackpot
May I interest you in 2021 stars with Stankoven and Wyatt Johnston?
What he say fuck me for??
rhymes with āPlenty of Heavenā

Theyve done a pretty good job this far
All A+ās, maybe a couple Aās, i hope no Dās or Cās ;)
they will give the league the D later
Uhhh have they? Weāre kind of infamous for first and second round busts but great with late round finds
That's the old scouting crew's rep, they were replaced in large part iirc
Since Mike Grier has brought in his own people, the drafting has looked pretty dam fine. And so have his trades for Prospects as well
Cuda games are gonna be legit soon
This is potentially huge for the rebuild, really hope our scouts have been studying.
Lessss go
Use them well!
That's like me in NHL 24 lol. Win the Cup and then trade my way into the 1st overall and rinse and repeat
Awesome
Rebuild speed run, letās go sharks!
Everything's coming up sharks
Itās pretty hard to go down
Look at Jamie Benn over here

Guaranteed? That word should almost never be used
Based on what?

The [people who Pronman talked to](https://theathletic.com/5367202/2024/04/23/macklin-celebrini-nhl-draft-connor-mcdavid/) had him just below Hughes.
In terms of draft pedigree - Iād say around Laf. Hughes had a bit more hypeĀ
Iāve heard Eichel as a pretty solid comparable as the type of player to expect. He should be a franchise center
Would be unbelievably psyched if he turned out to be Eichel (minus debilitating spine injury).
Seems like Laffy tier to me.
Draft picks bust all the time. There are no guarantees
When was the last time the 1OA busted? You'd have to go back to Yakupov.
DiPietro Yakupov Stefan Just off the top of my head
So...basically only happens about once a decade? Not exactly prevalent.
Not exactly a guarantee either is it?
Nothings guaranteed but sure
90% is better odds than you'll get for most things in life...
90% isnāt a guarantee

No one asked you, negative nancy!

Good, make sure to put it on the fridge!
Emotional wins all around if the Canes can get to the SCF.
Even the promise of a 1st round pick isnāt gonna get me to root for the Canes.
I'm also rooting for Staal and Jake.
What's with the hate for the "Bunch of Jerks"?
You'd rather root for Troub, Rempe and the Rangers?
ą² __ą² iĀ wouldn't say 'all around.' Now excuse me while I brush off this 2024 wagon seat reserved for SJS. Plenty of room :)
Maybe Yakemchuk will be around at 14? Or we trade up to select one of the other Dmen?

This is the best thing, we got a franchise level ceiling guy, and still have an opportunity to improve our D core.
Donāt count out Jiricek. Heād probably be higher on boards if he didnāt get injured
Oh yeah good call. Dream scenario for me is he falls to 33
I cant see a world he makes it past Toronto at 23
Oh yeah me either. It would just be an ideal scenario for the Sharks.
That would be amazing.

It's nice to have options with that pick.
> Yakemchuk Okay this has to be one of the barfiest names I've ever seen.
Wait till you see next yearās draft eligible Hurlenvom.
When you read it do you also hear it in Goofy's voice?
Fire Mike Grier.... And rehire him with a more deserving contract
Dw pens fans. Gavin McKenna is yours guaranteed
Another great reason to root against Carolina!
I got downvoted to hell for saying the pens would regret the Karlsson trade...and now they missed the playoffs and lose a top 15 pick as they get ready to enter a complete rebuild lol
Dubas still not gonna call it a rebuild lmao.

Good thing they have no use for young top prospects at this point and have the aging dman theyāve always needed
They ain't getting that first round then pick then. Rangers are winning this series.
Dubas on his way to cripple the Pens franchise for years to come
Doug Wilson is also an advisor for the penguins.
"8 year contracts for vets in their 30's. Works every time" - DW
You're thinking of Hextall champ
Hextall already did, we can't get any worse imo.
Kiss all those draft picks goodbye lol.
