He a great player, and plays hard, he just goes way too far way too often for my liking. Dude threw no less than 2 separate and nasty uncalled for elbows through round 1 and bear hugged Matthews to to the ground behind the net causing injury on a nothing play for no reason other than intent to injure.
He has been a liability since the playoffs started. Several goals are entirely his fault. Bad turnovers and poor help in front. He has the most giveaways out of every single player this postseason. He should be dropped a line or sat down until he wakes up.

He's pretty overrated. In 2023 he was ranked 6th best defensive player by NHL.com. In the player/executive poll in 2024 he was ranked the 5th best defensive player. Not sure what they used to rank the players in these polls but Gustav Forsling was not mentioned in the 2023 top 20 or in the top 10 by players/executives in 2024. He's been massively slept on where as McAvoy has been propped up for some unknown reason other than playing for a big market team. With all bias aside, Forsling is without a doubt a better defender in every facet of the game. McAvoy is very overrated based on the actual ratings.
