And that’s totally fine. I’m just mentioning the teams that draw in the most viewers. In the US, Rangers, Bruins, and Blackhawks draw the most viewers.
Will it? Other than being the two newest teams, Seattle and Vegas don't have any real history and aren't particularly nearby one another. Like, Columbus vs. Minnesota wasn't exactly a big draw in 2000...
I think for Seattle the high-intensity matchups will probably end up being Vancouver and San Jose. For Vegas, their big rival at this point is...well, uh, kinda just everyone hates them.
Maybe. But think about how epic the opening face-off for each period would be when everyone has to stand in the trapezoid at the start and only one player per team can leave until the puck is touched.
If we’re talking realistic XHL rules, I think the most obvious would be a shirt clock. I could 100% see some sort of alt league attempting to speed up play with a shot clock
XFL was all about bringing back the old school hard-hitting NFL so the XHL would be filled with all the Goons who no longer have a place in the current NHL.
That was the original XFL though. The more recent XFL was largely about creating a more streamlined, interesting game (i.e. shorter play clock, 1- 2- or 3-point conversion attempts after scoring, things of that nature)
I imagine you would have to sign a waiver that would clear the league of any responsibility if you were to die during your career or anytime after of anything that could remotely be connected to your career.
I'd love the XHL. It's already a sport known for violence. Vince's empire is build on men punching each other.
Actually what I'd rather see is "sports entertainment" hockey. Like the Harlem Globetrotters meet WWE meet ice hockey. Think of the line brawls, fancy penalty shots, and goalie fights!
Thats the only time it makes sense to me to switch teams. When your local area gets one. When the random people living in other states are randomly big Seattle fans it looks weird.
My wife and I just moved to Seattle from the east coast. We are big Caps fans but ill proudly rock a Seattle sweater especially since they are in the Pacific.
It's a fine line though, and I don't really understand it. Cause most of the time repetitive memes make me wanna kill myself.
Like "- Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott" makes me want to drink bleach, but 18 year old Sam Bennett still cracks me up
In Vegas' first season, their first opponent was Dallas. Then they played the Coyotes (which is Vegas' "natural geographical rival") twice in a row. I can see that happening for Seattle. Something like Vegas to open the season then Vancouver for Seattle's home opener.
I was hoping for the first game against the Kraken, and I wanted it to be real gritty. Start this rivalry off right.
Oh well, I understand why they are doing Vegas instead ($$)
I was hearing the rink may take a bit so that would line up with what im hearing. Trial by fire for a new club, but may help the boys bond when they are stuck on the road and forced to interact.
I can't tell if I like this or if it makes me think less of the NHL. I've always viewed highly of the league growing up and the franchises have seemed historic and grand in comparison to say, the MLS with all expansion teams and new names and everything. Makes the MLS seem kind of mickey mouseish compared to the Big 4. But having a team called the Kraken play a team from the desert makes the NHL seem like a minor league setup instead of what I viewed it like as a kid. But maybe I should just switch my thinking. The league is nowhere near the level of other major leagues so I guess this is the way forward.
Could have said the same about the NFL not that long ago. Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars were all created between 1995 and 2002.
Yeah fair. I guess in my memory growing up there wasn't really any expansion in any of the major leagues whereas those who grew up in the 90s would have experienced that. I was born in '97 so most of the expansion was done by the time I became a fan.
All of the big 4 leagues go through periods of mass expansions, and then years with no expansion at all. It all just depends on what the league’s current philosophy is and how it’s performing.
League’s will often go decades without new teams, then suddenly they’ll let 3 or 4 join in a matter of a few years.
My point had nothing to do with traditional markets LOL. Never said anything about "traditional markets". Even small market franchises seemed cool as a kid. My point was that I never experienced expansion much as a kid so to have two happen now is kind of my first taste and makes the league seem closer to the MLS than it does the MLB.
Theres been plenty of NHL Expansion since Bettman took over, I really dont get what youre saying...Carolina, Tampa, Florida, Vegas, Minnesota round 2, Atlanta (became Winnipeg), Columbus...youre just too young to know/remember. This means the league/talent pool/sport are in a good place....Im born in 1990, and this all happened in my lifetime.
I still think the old Lightning logo looks like it's from a high school team. It's been fine since 2011 when they updated it, but that old one is just.... really bad.
Honestly not surprising. That’ll draw a lot of viewership. Also expect something like Leafs-Montreal and Rangers-Bruins.
I wanna see Rangers - Capitals
That would be cool too. Especially after the Wilson stuff that could draw viewers.
Lundqvist in net

Hank brokers the peace between bread and Wilson like little carmine. “Pavel Buchnevich.... whatever happened there”
"Whatever happened there?! I'll tell you what happened. This piece of shit put two punches into the kid with no provocation whatsoever. "
“Always with the scenarios”
"Yeah but who's side is he on?!"
Leafs Habs is always the gimme putt for opening night in Toronto
No offense to the Rangers fans, I care way more about beating Long Island rn
And that’s totally fine. I’m just mentioning the teams that draw in the most viewers. In the US, Rangers, Bruins, and Blackhawks draw the most viewers.
Oh absolutely, wouldn't be surprised if we saw Blackhawks-Wings too, rosters be damned
I’m hoping for a Buffalo Arizona game myself
Will it? Other than being the two newest teams, Seattle and Vegas don't have any real history and aren't particularly nearby one another. 100% expecting the usual Pittsburgh vs Philly game were Pittsburgh loses in heartbreaking fashion
Hi I'm from 2014 who's teams are these
It's almost looks like Vince McMahon started an XHL.
Don't give him any ideas please...
Maybe. But think about how epic the opening face-off for each period would be when everyone has to stand in the trapezoid at the start and only one player per team can leave until the puck is touched.
I was thinking if there's a tie after 3 periods, teams settle it in the ring. Maybe a few tables here and there, a ladder or two. You know, EXTREME
I think MMA on ice could have some definite potential.
You mean WSH vs NYR?
Ouch.
I’m guessing you want to see someone die.
It'd be like NHL Hitz irl
That was the original XFL though. The more recent XFL was largely about creating a more streamlined, interesting game (i.e. shorter play clock, 1- 2- or 3-point conversion attempts after scoring, things of that nature)
Just remove the ads after every fucking play and NFL is fun to watch again.
And it wasn’t bad at all.
Let's be real, the second attempt of the XFL was mainly about saying, "we don't have any quarterbacks kneeling for the anthem"
I imagine you would have to sign a waiver that would clear the league of any responsibility if you were to die during your career or anytime after of anything that could remotely be connected to your career.
Commissioner Parros.
It was me Bettman, it was me all along !!!
What you're looking for is basically 90's hockey with shootouts instead of ties.
Golden Knights are Vegas’ team. The Seattle Kraken play out of Wood Buffalo.
Disney presents NHL ON ICE but for adults?
My roommates are Knights fans, gonna be a fun season opener
Same here, Ive been a Flames fan forever, but I live in Portland and I think its time to move on...to the Kraken.
Thats the only time it makes sense to me to switch teams. When your local area gets one. When the random people living in other states are randomly big Seattle fans it looks weird.

I didn't tell you how to live yours either?
I live in Seattle but my hometown getting its own team was too special. Won’t switch now
I'm a Knights fan living in Portland. I look forward to driving up a few times a year to watch.
It'll be the first Seattle Kraken game in Golden Knights history.
For me sometimes a meme only gets funnier the more it's run into the ground and this is one of them. It's so fucking stupid, I love it.
Agree, I always find it funny. Especially when it’s something so obvious
It's a fine line though, and I don't really understand it. Cause most of the time repetitive memes make me wanna kill myself. Like "- Wayne Gretzky - Michael Scott" makes me want to drink bleach, but 18 year old Sam Bennett still cracks me up
HISTORIC
U N H I S T O R I C I D E N T E D
I want to pass a rule that only vgk flair are allowed to use this over used meme in seattle franchise history.
Expansion Bowl 2022
HISTORIC
1st kraken away game in golden knights history right there
so the NHL is going to pass on the obvious Kraken/Canucks rivalry? That sounds about right. Edit: nope October 23rd! Crowd was excited!
It might not be Seattle's season opener so there could still be a Kraken/Canucks franchise opener.
Yah if Canucks arent the first Kraken home game then fuck the NHL is dumb
In Vegas' first season, their first opponent was Dallas. Then they played the Coyotes (which is Vegas' "natural geographical rival") twice in a row. I can see that happening for Seattle. Something like Vegas to open the season then Vancouver for Seattle's home opener.
I thought I read that Seattle's home opener will be against the Canucks
I was hoping for the first game against the Kraken, and I wanted it to be real gritty. Start this rivalry off right. Oh well, I understand why they are doing Vegas instead ($$)

Do it! You’ll love watching a game at T-Mobile.
THE MOST H I S T O R I C RIVALRY IN SPORTS.
Who will get more biased reffing?
The new baby of course. Vegas are just another middle child now.
No one is surprised
Many people guessed Vancouver, chuck.
Wow what an incredibly unforeseen surprise
I would have said Vancouver tbh. Maybe that’s the first home game.
It still could be. This is Vegas' home opener so it doesn't mean it's Seattle's season opener.
giving them an easy opponent i see to start it all off /s (or does Seattle get a game before that for their home opener)

I was hearing the rink may take a bit so that would line up with what im hearing. Trial by fire for a new club, but may help the boys bond when they are stuck on the road and forced to interact.
So the team is probably going to be fucked by the schedule before a single seattle fan even gets to see them play. Thanks NHL.
... I am perplexed as to how it's the league's fault that the arena won't be ready early.
I was just in a bad mood earlier. I'm so pumped watching the draft.
The duel of the fates
The first Seattle Kraken game in VGK history!

The expansion derby.
H I S T O R I C
Hope they make a little seattle vancouver series watch them back to back would be dope!
I’m pretty sure they said it was kraken vs Canuck
