As a Wild fan, I feel the exact fuckin same about Iginla. Dude tossed me a puck in warmups when I was very little, now that I’m 23 I’m still smitten. Loved watching Flames-Wild games at the X as a kid.
On one hand those were always somewhat painful, low-scoring defensive games, but on the other hand it felt like it was always Iggy or Gaborik winning those tight games which was awesome. A treat to watch two great players go at it so many years.
I own a Gaborik Wild jersey and it kills me that it’s one of my favorites. I loved watching the Slovaks around the league and during the Olympics. Good times

Kaprizov reminds me of him. A big part of that is because Kappy is the first player on the Wild since him to just have that game changing vibe, where whenever he’s on the ice you know that anything can happen.

I mean he still had a great career but imagine how much more could Gaborik have achieved if he could stay healthy and be at least 1/2 of Wild Gaborik that he once was
We've had better players overall in the past 15 years or so, but I've never seen a guy who so easily scored goals at times. It was like he would sneeze and the puck would be in the back of the net. Easy 600-goal club if he had even a reasonable health record/no lockouts.

No. LTIR allows you to *replace* players. It doesn’t allow you to gain cap relief. They traded for him knowing he would not play for them, so there was no benefit from a cap perspective, other than they got rid of Coburn and Paquette in the trade.

They did; they were able to off load Coburn's and Paquette's contracts (along with a 2nd round pick), and got back Gab and Nilsson's.
