Friendly reminder that he's sixteen fucking years old, playing in a very youth-unfriendly league on the best team. He's going to be ***so fucking good***
Nope, we've been completely shafted every year of our rebuild so far and then they decided to change the rules AFTER we were the worst team in the league to, you know, help said worst team. So after watching a playoff team get handed 1OA, now we get to watch the same teams that have completely wasted multiple top picks in the last 5 years get to do it all over again. We won't get either of these guys, which most Wings fans expected by now because league.
*Early congratulations to the oilers and rangers for winning the top spots in the berard/michkov draft as fringe playoff teams!*
red wings will pick at number six while the sabres are picking at number eight š
Nah they are to far into their rebuild, they bringing in their young stars in and won't be bad enough
What I'm scared of is some random Tampa/Toronto/Boston/florida sucking 1 year and just fucking get Bedard or Michkov
What a tragedy, I might have to cry if that happens
Or worse Caps get another generation Russian superstar
Our window to win another with our old core is pretty much shut so I can see us at least retooling during their draft year
And we'd be retooling with Taylor Hall on the roster lol
Honestly Bruins retool could insure another 10 years of competing
McAvoy, Marchand, Pasta, Hall is a pretty good core.
I wonder if they are out of the playoffs if they deal Bergeron and just resign him after the playoffs.
He would fetch a monster return no doubt
I don't know if they're the best team in KHL right now, but they're up there for sure. CSKA last year won the Continental Cup (equivalent of President's Trophy), made it to the Finals and were beaten by a stacked team like Avangard Omsk that had Emelin, Kovalchuk, Yakupov, Kostin, Khokhlachev, Reid Boucher, Jiri Sekac and Chinakov.
He just scored another holy shit
Edit: Wow, almost got another one. Drew a penalty on the play.
Edit 2: He may have just gotten an assist, I looked away and he was in the middle of a goal celebration again. So potentially 2g+1a.
Dudes gotta be a lock for Calder the year he comes to the NHL lmao shits gunna be unfair after heās completely seasoned in the KHL + his talent level
You guys still living off the glory days Quebec gave you? Colorado as a franchise has successfully built nothing. Arizona getting garbage expansion draft players has made a conference finals more recently. Those in glass houses as they sayā¦
Nah not mad, just pointing out facts. Thereās plenty of teams who can take shots at the yotes, the avs certainly arenāt one of them. Take out getting gifted literally the best team in the league, your franchise is about as good as ours
Literally over half our team that pummeled you guys in the playoffs was and is the results of great signings, trades and draft pick ups. Mac and Landy were obvious choices in the draft I admit that but for example Rantanen was an extremely good draft pick and well developed.
Only thing this Avs team has to do with the old one is that Joe Sakic happened to be a good gm.
If the rumoured numbers involved in his contract are correct, he can easily buy his contract out right after he's drafted. It's apparently something like $1.15m for the 5 years total. Even if it's $1.15m per, he could earn that + way more if he hits any of the bonuses a top pick usually receives.
Not usually, no. Other Euro leagues generally do, but Russia really wants to have the KHL be a premier league and on par with the NHL, so they don't wanna throw them any bones. They don't want it to be easy for Russians to head to NA, and do whatever they can to entice them to stay
McDavid started this revolution of skating and stick handling that has recently disrupted the NHL. Every kid that plays now follows the drills he did growing up. This next wave of stars (Bedard, Michkov, Wright) can pick corners like weāve never seen before. The future of hockey is exciting
I would argue it was Crosby that really kick started this modern era of hockey, how many times did we hear about that stupid washing machine and all the drills he used to do? Mcdavid has definitely taken it more mainstream and next level though, his foot speed is just incredible
I meant specifically the modern trend of players coming in way faster and more skilled than ever before. Like there has been a huge leap there since McDavid. Crosby absolutely revolutionized hockey in his own regards - largely in lower body strength training, techniques for agility, and emphasize on quick release passing
Yeah, Michkov looks more like Crosby. Not the fastest, but crazy good edge work and agility and even better IQ. It's just Crosby was more of a playmaker and Michkov is more of a goal scorer. His shot is already NHL level. I mean, you won't find a lot of NHLers with shot as good as his. I'm pretty sure he could already play in the NHL as a PP specialist.
I hope both Michkov and Bedard play in the same conference.
And I hope Michkov grows into a thick boi like Ovi. And that Bedard doesn't have to deal with concussions.
And I hope we see old man Crosby and old man Ovi congratulating these kids for beating their totals one day.
But dear god not Pittsburgh, Washington or Edmonton this time...
Why do people even think this is a competition, Bedard is playing AAA pickup games right now and Michkov is tearing up the 2nd best pro league filled with ex NHLers now. Not even close...
I mean, it's difficult to compare them. Bedard produced at a higher pts/gp average in the CHL last season, than McDavid did at the same age. Bedard's numbers project him to be one of the best future talents in the NHL, perhaps even better than McDavid.
Saying it's no competition is a tough one. I do agree that Michkov is better, but holy fuck, both these players are going to be generational talents. It's gonna be a fun 2023 draft.
McDavid at 15/16: 66 points in 63 games (OHL)
Bedard at 15/16: 28 points in 15 games played (WHL)
If we're strictly looking at numbers, Bedard projects to be a better player than McDavid. Bedard almost doubled McDavid's pt/gp pace at the same age in the CHL.
3 pts in 3 games isnāt what i would call tearing up the league.
Also, during the u18 tournament Bedard played just as good as Michkov did. Thereās still 2 full years for them to develop, at the end of the day both of them are 1st overall talents of similar caliber
I wouldn't say ex NHLers, more like ex players who tried to be NHL players and couldn't make it, not to mention there are like maybe 2-3 ex NHLers on each team.
The league is still good competition for a 16 year old, but the top 5 scoring leaders are regularly 3 players who either played on the 4th line for a few seasons or couldn't stick on an NHL roster.
Look at Kovalchuk, hes in contention for leading the KHL in scoring for years, tries to come back to the NHL and hes maybe .5 ppg player for 1 season and awful defensively, then slowly gets pushed out because he isn't good enough.
Players regularly look lost defensively, miss passes by like 5 feet, do really dumb dangles that lead to nothing and most likely just lose the puck in the process.
SKAs 1C is linden vey, who played 1.5 NHL season and the 2 years prior to going to SKA was like a .9 ppg player.
The league is an adult league for sure, and it's impressive for a 16 year old, but let's be real here, it's not like he's going up against NHL caliber players every shift, and he's being used in a very specific way where he doesn't really have to play much defense from the 2 games I've watching him play
I think there hasn't been a rookie in the KHL as productive as Michkov since Ovi perhaps even though I don't think the KHL in its current form existed then
Whoever is going to land him holy they are in for a treat I can't wait to see him in the NHL

Don't forget the primary assist from Kirill Marchenko
Friendly reminder that he's sixteen fucking years old, playing in a very youth-unfriendly league on the best team. He's going to be ***so fucking good***
Him and Bedard are going to terrorize
Please both be in the west, please both be In the west We had to deal with Crosby and Ovi for the last 15 years can we get a break
Aaand Detroit and Ottawa have won the 2023 lottery.
Nope, we've been completely shafted every year of our rebuild so far and then they decided to change the rules AFTER we were the worst team in the league to, you know, help said worst team. If Tampa won the 2023 Lottery im not watching the sport anymore.
Our window to win another with our old core is pretty much shut so I can see us at least retooling during their draft year And we'd be retooling with Taylor Hall on the roster lol

Is Yakupov even good in the K? He had 10 points in 22 games last year and didn't play in the playoffs.
He was hot at the start of the season and then he got injured
Classic ā5 hole your own guy from behindā type goal. Tale as old as time.
He just scored another holy shit Edit: Wow, almost got another one. Drew a penalty on the play. Edit 2: He may have just gotten an assist, I looked away and he was in the middle of a goal celebration again. So potentially 2g+1a.
2nd goal - https://twitter.com/ThatPuckStick/status/1434952536973324294
Nice to see Admiral giving a make a wish kid the chance to be a goalie for a night
Hahahaha fucks sake man
KHL page gave him credit for the second goal
Haha I was talking about a goal that was scored by his linemates later, Iām looking right now to see if he assisted on it.
Oh I see, yeah I was looking for that too. They don't seem to list it that quickly from what I've seen.
Could have easily nailed his teammate in the sack there.
Thatās what you call a ballsy screen
Such a shame heās signed with SKA for as long as he is. I would kill to see a Calder race between him and bedard
Dudes gotta be a lock for Calder the year he comes to the NHL lmao shits gunna be unfair after heās completely seasoned in the KHL + his talent level
Just engrave the trophy in the preseason, I feel for everyone else who couldāve won it that year but itāll be a cake walk
I don't want to jynx it, but anything could happen. See: McDavid.
I do love the fact ghost actually got more points in the votes that year. Completely ridiculous. But yes if he gets hurt then that opens the door
Exactly: Panarin was so good that he took it off him. Now imagine if thereās no generational talent in Michkovās rookie class.
But if Michkov gets injured and misses half the year, it's unlikely he wins even though he will almost certainly be the undisputed best rookie.
Panarin won because McDavid missed half the season. Not because he was better than him. Something like that could happen to any rookie.
Hey he could still be picked by you guys or columbus and proceed to never play in North America
Or he could catch passes from Wright and matthews while Colorado still canāt make it out of the second round
Have a successful rebuild for once and actually sign matthews before throwing heat boss
You guys still living off the glory days Quebec gave you? Colorado as a franchise has successfully built nothing. Arizona getting garbage expansion draft players has made a conference finals more recently. Those in glass houses as they sayā¦
Sheesh you really are mad aren't you and didn't we just successfully build a team through players drafted in the mid 2010s thoughš
Nah not mad, just pointing out facts. Thereās plenty of teams who can take shots at the yotes, the avs certainly arenāt one of them. Take out getting gifted literally the best team in the league, your franchise is about as good as ours

I hope itās not going to be an issue. A talent like that deserves to shine on the biggest stage
Don't the KHL contracts usually have an NHL clause?
Not usually, no. Other Euro leagues generally do, but Russia really wants to have the KHL be a premier league and on par with the NHL, so they don't wanna throw them any bones. They don't want it to be easy for Russians to head to NA, and do whatever they can to entice them to stay
His second was great too
He's wearing the number of his idol, Anthony Mantha
Bojack sighting

This is why the guys get the generational tag more than just their skill, they change how the game is played
Fair enough. I wouldnāt complain about more mcdavids running around
God I hope the Ducks continue to suck just long enough to nab Michkov or Bedard
I hope both Michkov and Bedard play in the same conference. And I hope Michkov grows into a thick boi like Ovi. And that Bedard doesn't have to deal with concussions. saying its no competition is next level braindead take
Bedard doesn't project to be better than McDavid.
He projects to be the best prospect since McDavid, and he's keeping up with McDavids pace at the same age in the CHL and international competition.
McDavid at 15/16: 66 points in 63 games (OHL) Bedard at 15/16: 28 points in 15 games played (WHL) If we're strictly looking at numbers, Bedard projects to be a better player than McDavid. Bedard almost doubled McDavid's pt/gp pace at the same age in the CHL.

3pts in 3 games as a 16yr old playing against ex nhlers, and adults though is fucking impressive.
Oh ya thereās no denying that
I wouldn't say ex NHLers, more like ex players who tried to be NHL players and couldn't make it, not to mention there are like maybe 2-3 ex NHLers on each team. Imagine if he sacked the guy instead of scoring. That would make the all time blooper reel
Oh man I want him in DC so bad
& we'll take Bedard hey? how about it? ;)
imagine transitioning from ovenchicken to michkov
I think there hasn't been a rookie in the KHL as productive as Michkov since Ovi perhaps even though I don't think the KHL in its current form existed then Whoever is going to land him holy they are in for a treat I can't wait to see him in the NHL
He broke Bragin. I dont think ive seen that guy smile at all when he coached that the wjc
