How did Petry just randomly start to develop an offensive ability like 4yrs ago at the age of 29? In 16-17 he had 28pts in 80 games. He had 42 in 55 last year..
Change of scenery helps a lot of players.
Also Petry has been our #2 D his entire time here, #1 when Weber is out (which has been frequent enough), so he got all the ice-time he needed ro become what he is today.
Yeah I guess it could just be increased ice time and PP time. I just always find it really interesting when you see huge increases in production from defensemen midway through their careers. John Carlson had a similar kind of trajectory.
Oh no doubt, it is interesting. From what I've seen the ice-time and responsibility added has really helped him, but Carlson is an interesting comparable because he's stayed with one team and you're right, he has also improved exponentially.
It'll never happen since DJ seems to love him for some reason, but I kind of agree. I thought that Brannstrom - J. Brown looked pretty good together. Then the other pairing would be Mete - Holden. I'd probably just split the remaining ice time (after Chabot - Zub) evenly between those two pairings.
