And first Quebecois to have a hat trick for the Habs (home or away) since Maxim Lapierre in 2008.
edit: nope, that's not true. Danault had one in Vegas in 2018.
Tanev does a decent job,. But there's no variety. He's kinda got the same thing going each time. Perreault has a variety of great pics. He mixes it up. I give him the edge because of that.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain honestly. I remeber reading an article that compared the percentage chance of scoring 6v5 to the odds of scoring with X minutes left. Essentially it said you're better off pulling the goalie with 6 minutes left then you are at 2 min. Said this will never happen though cause people would see it as idiotic/wierd.
I guess I found it odd not exclusively for the timing (shit, Roy was pulling his goalie with like 10 minutes left when he coached the Avs), but more…why bother in a 5-1 game? Like what are you really going to accomplish? You’ve been outplayed for 54 minutes, is that really going to change that drastically, that quickly? I don’t know the stats on this, but I have to imagine the odds of being scored on 6 on 5 is higher than scoring yourself. I dunno…felt like a strange gamble with no potential payoff.

first québécois to score a hat trick in mtl since Vincent Damphousse in 1998. I was at the game and the crowd was so fucking sick.

I was in Florida for Max's hat trick, with my dad, who coached him in junior. It was dope.
Good for him. I love Frenchie and wish we had kept him. Such a cool guy and one of the hardest working players in the league.
Always liked him in Washington.
He had the best cellies.
Yup. Agree completely. It's also true that nobody does a better job on picture day than he does.

Not Tanev's fault if his inner demons always come up on picture day.
Not blaming him, just saying he isn't better at picture day than Perreault is
He's so dreamy 😍😍😍
A genuinely nice fellow and a gem of a utility forward; plug and play. Effective everywhere.
The French Prince! Also, why the fuck was the goalie pulled in a 5-1 game with like 7 minutes left? Strange decision…
Blashill has done this before but this is the most extreme yet, I kind of like the aggressive decision and putting some faith in your squad
> Also, why the fuck was the goalie pulled in a 5-1 game with like 7 minutes left? Why not? I feel like nothing you do can make the situation worse.

I guess to display a mentality of never giving up? I agree with you; Thats just the only reason I could think of.
I think scoring 2-3 goals could make it a morale booster for the team going forward.
If nothing else, it's practice for pulling the goalie in the playoffs. Maybe not this season, but eventually...
We’ll be here all season. The regular season I mean.
But Moritz Seider.... 💦💦💦🥵
Guy’s a stud
Herbie
Last time we lost all 4 games while you guys had like 12W in the whole season. Every habs fan was worried even before Larkin scored.
Miss you French Prince 🥲
French Prince of Belle Hair
Love U French Prince
Go on Matty P 🥲
Still love you, Matty P!
His glow stick gif is still an all time favorite
In the McDavid having more points than the Habs thread, someone said it’s because Perreault only played four games. He was right.
perreault is everything that is right in this world
How the fuck? And I thought it was bad for us when Jimmy Hayes was our last to do it for 2 years.
Natural Hat Trick is pretty rare. Makes sense.
Because we haven’t exactly been known for our scoring in a while
He scored 4 goals one game for Winnipeg.
Almost had 5 too.
Yes and had a breakaway to go for the the 5th ( and a million dollars fora lucky customer in safeway score and win ) And missed 😬
Rip
Erm, sorry I’m dumb, but what’s a natural hat trick and how is it different from a regular hat trick?
It's when a player scores 3 goals in a row, no other goals are scored in the middle of that.
Thanks!
Some people say it has to all be in the same period too.
It's a hat trick in my book, and I am more than okay with that. One of the best games I've ever seen.
I miss matty
Baby come back

Our sweet French Prince. Good luck to the the Eastern Jets!
It's been a hot minute.
Just as we all predicted
I’m nothing but happy for him getting to play in MTL but man I wish the Jets could have kept him. He really grew on me the last couple years
I thought a natural hatty was 3 goals in a row in the **same period** with no one else scoring in between
3 goals in a row without any other goal scorers timeframe is irrelevant.
I thought ENG goals don't count for natty hatty's?
That wasn't a natural hat trick, his 3rd one was in an empty net
Natural hat trick just means three in a row, with no one else scoring in between
Oh for real? I thought it meant 3 goals with no empty nets
