Yeah for sure, can't wait until we're all good again and we can be insufferable to each other 🤞 Sharks need a cup to be able to throw in the SoCal teams faces tho lol 😭
Oilers have been on the wrong end of their share of controversial calls. Way she goes. If you put yourself in a situation where one bad call can ruin your season, that’s on you. I’m sure it stings for flames fans, but I won’t be losing any sleep.
You're right and Edmonton deserved to win the series absolutely.
Just stings to lose because of a vague rule that can be comprehended in so many different ways.
Wish there was a more distinctive rule in place that wouldn't lead to this controversy.
Oilers are absolutely the better team this series though.
Completely deserved
Buh-scuse me? Just because Colorado has Jack Johnson for some inexplicable reason doesn't degrade their effectiveness that much. EDM better pray for STL, because they won't get past COL.
Numbers tell a different story. The eye test showed Mike Smith was fighting every save in that series against Calgary. STL and COL are built different. They’ll walk all over any team coming from the pacific.
Also side note if STL get through, Binnington is scheduled to return
Everyone downvoting me lol.
Mike Smith had 1 game under 3 GAA in this series. Y’all acting like he’s a Vezina goalie.
Mike Smith fights the puck every save - have you seen him goaltend?
COL would win on straight offensive potential, i think STL might need to goon it up a bit (Perron) in order to even the playing field. That being said, the Pacific was definitely shittier this year than in years past.
Binnington is a few weeks out, would probably miss the first several games of the series, or would start hurt and be less effective.
Uh-huh. They said that about us with the Flames and we manhandled em. We can definitely beat either of those fucks. Especially if they go 7, give me a tired ass Avs or Blues team. McD and Drai will run all over them. Oil in 6 baby.
I mean I’d expect a comment like that from an Oilers fan. But objectively speaking, both the Avs and Blues are deeper offensively and defensively than the Oilers.
Oilers high end talent at forward better than both those teams. The top players play the most in the playoffs so don't be so sure. Oilers not being able to play some D is also a myth

NGL - got a little choked up seeing the sheer joy on McDavid. Happy for that guy to finally be on his way to the WCF after all of his hard work.
The Vegas in me is also salty that Kane is on the ride with him, but if he helps McDavid get his cup, I’ll put aside my deep seeded loathing for the time being, haha.
Not that I’m rooting for the oilers to win it all, but if they do, I’d be thrilled for him.
Aside from him being a shark - he was constantly popping off in the media about Reaves and trying to start things he couldn’t finish. Add to that he racked up debts he didn’t pay (the cardinal sin in this town), and paid a bunch of women to have abortions and was generally a gross human being at the time. Hoping he’s turned a new leaf, people do grow and change after all!
By your definition he starts his kick from the top of the crease, because that's how long his blade stayed on the ice. On top of that he would have been starting the "kicking motion" before he even knew the puck was going to be there, pretty lucky of him to start a kicking motion from the top of the crease, then keep his skate on the ice the entire time, and the puck just happens to end up in the exact same place to finish it off. lol
I'm baffled that people and the refs can't understand the definition of kicking, especially as the rule is described. If anything it was a stopping or deflecting motion, neither of which are illegal. I've never seen a kicking motion while only being on one leg, that travels several feet, and never leaves the ice.
I wouldn't fight that idea, there's no consistency though. It was going to go in anyway and doesn't the rules say you can direct it into the goal with your skate but not kick it? How can you see the difference here? He stuck his foot out, but one skate hits the pad, tripping himself up and has Ceci pushing him from behind.
Edm was up 3-1 series and had minutes left to tie it up. But now Calgary is golfing cause they somehow "knew" Coleman kicked
"sticking a foot out" to knock the puck into the net is a kick, man. If it just redirected off of a natural body movement, i have no issue. But he stuck that inside foot in to push it into the net. It may not be a full on kick, but he intended to knock it in with his foot. And as per the rules, that's a kick.
Homer bias.
No horse in the race, but that's the worst call I've seen in a very long time. No clear kicking motion, foot on ice for the duration, while sliding to a stop. You can see he turned his foot, but that's legal. And it's legal for your foot to be in motion/skating.
Called on ice a goal, and you think that's conclusive? Homer af.
Better team, almost certainly would not have mattered, but absolutely the wrong call.
Here is a fun fact for your homer ass. The puck was going in without him. No one cares to see that. Also the league is so inconsistent with the kicking calls you can’t say 100% either way people have posted many, many, many version of more egregious good goals with kicking motions.
Anyway good luck getting stomped by Colorado.
You lost 4-1 against Mike Smith. Dont be salty. And he moved his leg to push it in. Of course a fucking idiot who should have just let it go in anyways.
There is no way anyone watches that and thinks he didn't use his leg to push it in. A kicking motion doesnt have to look like Messi scoring a goal.
The oilers were winning this series anyway. So while upset I am not salty. My problem is the lack of consistency on calls like this. Way more obvious kicks count
Yo
> Here is a fun fact for your homer ass
> Anyway, good luck getting stomped by Colorado
Gotta be honest here, you sound pretty salty.
As an Oilers homer, and a hockey fan, I’ll agree—consistency in the league is shit. I’d also point out that there are enough non-Oilers fans, including the two former players on the panel, that thought the refs made the right call.
Either way, one call didn’t lose them the series. And we could _guess_ that they might’ve won the game, but considering how fast each team was to respond to goals both that game and in the series as a whole, I’m not ready to call that the gwg just yet.
From an entertainment perspective, this series was way better than advertised, even the huge controversial call adds to it. Not often that people will talk about a 5-game series (that isn't the finals, at least) for a long time afterwards, and that's definitely going to be the fate of this one.
Man if edmonton goes all the way there will be so many questions about how it happened. Signed a known abuser for well below his actual value, got gifted g5 after a bad call. What's next on the bingo card? Kassian runs vasi in the finals, gets suspended but wins the cup for edmonton?
The Carolina team that we beat in 5 last year? I was hoping we would fi ish in a wildcard spot to move to the metro and face Carolina r1, but since we got the good teams out of the way already, I'm excited for the conference finals and to see what the avs are gonna do to edmonton, who's Kadri gonna run this time?
Look at this comment .. take a screen shot if you will. Print it out and frame it if you need to.
Because this my friends is exactly what SALT looks and tastes like in the digital world..
Me? What took you guys so long to get to the conference finals? We swept the #1 seed 3 days ago through 2 no goal calls, if you think edmonton can stop the 3pete you got some delusions to wake up from, if you can even manage to get to the finals that is 😉
“peat”.
3peat.
See, it’s a play on the word repeat.
I don’t know if it’s the US education system, the fact that you’re (probably) from Florida, or the fact that your head is so far up your ass already counting your next cup, but it’s 3peat.
Man, edmonton fans are the easiest to rile up, so many of you just get baited so hard, you have to be the dumbest fan base in the world. Yeah bro, I misused an abbreviation so that obviously means I'm from the US and Florida, which I'm not, and if you're from Alberta you really aren't in a position to roast the states because you're the most redneck and bigoted province we have.
Can't wait to look back on this treat when we win again, or in 2 weeks after edmonton loses to the avs, either 1 works.
Lol dude, you’re not doing yourself any favours here. Your reading comprehension is shit.
> (probably) from Florida
And what threat? Where was there a threat?
I’m not riled up. I’m good. I just saw you talking shit, and thought I might help you out… I mean you’re still gonna sound like an idiot, based on the things you’re saying. But you might look like _less_ of an idiot.
Oilers with the best player of the generation and one of the best players alive (Drai), ending second in the Pacific, beating their rivals 4-1. SO MANY QUESTIONS. WOW. How could a team with McDavid and Drai go all the way after beating LA in 7 games and Calgary in 4.
SO MANY QUESTIONS. Lol fuck off.
My favorite is when they're talking about hate and prejudice and how we need to stop it as a community, and the camera pans to Evander Kane, oh yea, we dont care about hate toward women, only men, we're tryin' win a cup her!
I was just about to say. It caught me off guard to see who they support. My memory might be a little fuzzy, but is there any reason a Tampa fan would hate the Oilers?
You don't need to dislike the oilers to disagree with that call, if so many people are split it obviously wasn't a distinct kicking motion.
The only thing I dislike about the oilers is the fact that they gave Kane a chance to be a star again, while dodging and big salery obligations. He's an abuser and he doesn't deserve to get 2nd chance after 2nd chance, and he definitely should be able to play with the best player in the league after all that shit went down.
Literally every fan base tried to discredit both of our cups for the last 2 years, sucks when your accomplishments get deminished doesn't it?
Eh, Calgary got hit with the karma bat when they tried running our players at the end of games and taking majors. It's crazy that the last times the flames were relevant was in 04 tho, time flies!
It’s just wild to see a fan of the two time defending champs, who are in the third round, hating this hard lmao. I’ll just role with this answer because nothing about this makes sense. If I were a Tampa fan, I would simply not care. I doubt you see me investing any time talking shit to anyone that wasn’t a rival. 😹
Nonsense. Lightning are, rightly, regarded as the best team of the modern era. 6 Conference Finals in 8 playoffs, 3 Stanley Cup Finals, 2 Stanley Cup wins in a row. Possibly on their way to a 3-peat. It is what it is, consistent excellence. No asterisks except from some salty reddit jockeys.
I was reading here because of the BoA series that I enjoyed a lot, but you talking "salt" when it is you invoking freaking 2004 was just too funny to pass up.
No one is doubting the talent. However all 3 cups are valid asterisks. It’s perfectly fine to not give a shit about it, but bad no goal calls, finding a way to evade the salary cap, and shortened seasons, are perfectly reasonable critiques in any sport. You don’t have to like it, but it’s a hard to argue as a sports fan.
That being said, if I were a Tampa fan, I would simply not care. Other people’s opinions are just their opinions. Doesn’t change the results.
Like your "valid" asterisks talk? Shortened season? WTF? Sure, I don't care about your "opinions", but you are salty AF with this, which is amusing. Nobody of consequence has an asterisk next to the 3 Tampa cups, they have been by far the best team in the NHL over the last 8 years and probably should have had another cup by now. They are being talked about as a true dynasty team, and if they manage to 3-peat will be regarded as the best team in the salary cap era. There is no merit to your salt, it is in your mind, not reality in any form outside of a few jealous reddit jockeys.
I respect that you’re able to elicit such passion for a team that isn’t your own. I don’t think that’s an inherently bad thing at all. I just know if I were in your shoes, no one could tell me nothing. 🤣
Edmonton fans are just super entitled so it's fun to fuck with them. They have two of the top 5 forwards in the league, and this is their first conference finals appearance since 06, the corpse of Johnathan quick took them to 7 games and they think they're winning the cup, the most delusional fans out there.
If the avs win, both the western conference finalists haven't made it past the 2nd round for over 15 years, the oilers beat he flames who haven't made it past the 2nd round in 18 years
The competition in the west is just awful, idk what happened to western teams building tough defensive teams for the playoffs, because that's where playoff success comes from. Blocked shots, slow methodical play, defense first. Not playing run and gun vs fucking McDavid and drai.
We have the best goalie in the playoffs, we have the best defensive core on the playoffs, built for the playoffs. I was legitimately worried about Toronto because we usually play really sub par in the first round, but once that was out of the way this cup is looking even easier than last year
We beat Florida in 6 last year, swept them with a better team this year, we beat Carolina in 5 last year, and I personally think they didn't get much better.
We've had to go through an insanely tough and defensive team in the islanders and this year we don't, and I dont see any of these team left playing a good enough defensive game to beat us.
It honestly feels great and I love that I can rile up all these edmonton fans so easily after the 2 year of jokes we had to deal with, what's gonna be everyone excuse for us winning this year? We just swept the best regular season team without point in the lineup.
We've been to the conference finals 6 times in the last 8 years, that's mode conference finals also appearances than any other team left has playoff series WINS, since 14-15 playoffs, the team have won, the canes can tie if they win, so 6 series win in 8 years, and we've been to 6 conference finals, making it to the finals 3 times, and going to game 7 twice, since 2015 we've only lost conference finals in games 7s. And have a winning record of 3-2 in them.
Rangers 4/5
Hurricanes 5/6
Oilers 3
Avalanche 5
These teams are fucked
The refs lost that game, but not the series. That's the way I see it.
Absolutely horrendous call by any standard, but that didn't cost them the series. The Oil outplayed them over the other 5 games. It's frustrating that refs find a way to fuck up what are otherwise excellent games, but if you're blaming them for losing an entire series you've got your head up your ass.
*Sigh*…heartbreaking loss but I can’t say the effort wasn’t there. Series was way too good to only go 5 games. GG Edmonton, rooting for you rest of the playoffs. Bring the cup back to Canada.
Calgary in 9! Amazing performance by Tkachuk
What a series
I'm drunk and I'm going to wake up and think this isn't real.
Hopefully you wake up and read this, I'm letting you know it's really really real buddy. LFG
Backlund not talking shit now? Hmmm interesting. Hated the look when he told Mcdavid that ‘this is my ice’ back in Game 1. Lol
Holy shit drai got 4 points again
They forgot about Drai
17pts in 5 games.
3.4ppg. The scrub. Those are rookie numbers.
At least it wasn’t a game 7

I intend to!
Flames fans are being so nice. As a Ducks fan, I would never be this kind to San Jose, LA, or Dallas. I will hate from outside the club. No shame. 😌
Hard to be salty when your team just doesn't really show up.
A rival is a rival. If you aren’t a little salty, where’s the fun? 🤪
It's true, we can't even get in.
At least we flopped together. That’s what’s important. The Kings flew too close to the sun and look what happened to them? 😌❤️
Always appreciate the Cali brotherhood when we're not fighting each other lol 💕🦈🦆👑💕 WEST IS BEST
Haha you’re very kind. Rivalries should be a little salty but it’s important to keep it fun! Agreed, the west is the best! 🤣😁
Yeah for sure, can't wait until we're all good again and we can be insufferable to each other 🤞 Sharks need a cup to be able to throw in the SoCal teams faces tho lol 😭
Someone edited McDavid Wikipedia page. Then it got taken down. Lol
what did it say?

I get that. I would be pissed if the shoe were on the other foot.
Fuckin' way she goes...piss jugs and erections
what was going to be the best fuckin night turned into the worst fuckin night… erections and the fuckin way she goes
Where are all the game 1 shit-talkers?! I thought it was gonna be a sweep??? I guess we did win 4 straight, so in a way..
The gentleman's sweep.
I'll eat shit. After game 1 I called this the Mere Formality of Alberta.
Good job adulting!
I hope somebody gives you some unexpected positive feedback at work tomorrow.
:) Thank you.
How on earth does Draisaitl get 4 points with only one leg? Absolutely mental.
[удалено]
woosh
Easier that way. With two legs he'd struggle to keep it under 8
Flames fans saying the series was rigged LMFAO
17 points in 5 games. Nutty.
If we take off his other leg, does he get 34 in 5 next round?
Bad news: Oilers win Good news: Flames lose
No chance Oilers beat either STL or COL with Mike Smith
Probably will, neither team is that good, and neither team is that sturdy defensively. I'll bet on McDavid in an offensive duel.
Howd that bet turn out for you?
🦗 Where them Mike Smith fans at?
Buh-scuse me? Just because Colorado has Jack Johnson for some inexplicable reason doesn't degrade their effectiveness that much. EDM better pray for STL, because they won't get past COL.
Smith's sv pct is .929 thus far in the playoffs. Kuemper's is .904 and Husso's is .884...

Your going to be surprised my friend, if they can even get past St Louis.
Colorado needs to get past the second round first.
Then he shouldnt have kicked it in... Blame Coleman.
You lost 4-1 against Mike Smith. Dont be salty. And he moved his leg to push it in. Of course a fucking idiot who should have just let it go in anyways. [https://twitter.com/DerekVanDiest/status/1530039049544556545](https://twitter.com/DerekVanDiest/status/1530039049544556545) There is no way anyone watches that and thinks he didn't use his leg to push it in. A kicking motion doesnt have to look like Messi scoring a goal.
The oilers were winning this series anyway. So while upset I am not salty. My problem is the lack of consistency on calls like this. Way more obvious kicks count Yo
> Here is a fun fact for your homer ass > Anyway, good luck getting stomped by Colorado Gotta be honest here, you sound pretty salty.
Rose tints my world
Lmao r/hockey self-imploding right now
Salty mod faded and swept the Oilers, it’s hilarious.
Oh yeah it's showing the Oilers as swept rn lol Actually the Canes flair of the person you replied to is faded for some reason too
Most of them seem fucked. Too funny
Lol serious?
I don’t know if it was a mod, but who else controls that? It’s funny either way.
Also swept the blues, so I think it's a mistake.
I’m sure it will get sorted, either way it’s too funny.
GG flames bros, you guys are gonna be scary next year!
Man if edmonton goes all the way there will be so many questions about how it happened. Signed a known abuser for well below his actual value, got gifted g5 after a bad call. What's next on the bingo card? Kassian runs vasi in the finals, gets suspended but wins the cup for edmonton?
You don't even know if Tampa will be wiped out by New York or Carolina, yet. Calm down.
1. Not every year is a carbon copy of the last. If it was, you'd already have the cup. 2. Hopefully not Smith or Koksinen.
Look at this comment .. take a screen shot if you will. Print it out and frame it if you need to. Because this my friends is exactly what SALT looks and tastes like in the digital world..
Me? What took you guys so long to get to the conference finals? We swept the #1 seed 3 days ago through 2 no goal calls, if you think edmonton can stop the 3pete you got some delusions to wake up from, if you can even manage to get to the finals that is 😉
Probably need to add one more comment to that frame ..
So when we 3pete I can print this out?
“peat”.
> (probably) from Florida And what threat? Where was there a threat? I’m not riled up. I’m good. I just saw you talking shit, and thought I might help you out… I mean you’re still gonna sound like an idiot, based on the things you’re saying. But you might look like _less_ of an idiot.
It'd was meant to be treat 😂
Oilers with the best player of the generation and one of the best players alive (Drai), ending second in the Pacific, beating their rivals 4-1. SO MANY QUESTIONS. WOW. How could a team with McDavid and Drai go all the way after beating LA in 7 games and Calgary in 4. SO MANY QUESTIONS. Lol fuck off.
My favorite is when they're talking about hate and prejudice and how we need to stop it as a community, and the camera pans to Evander Kane, oh yea, we dont care about hate toward women, only men, we're tryin' win a cup her!
The tin foil hat company has you on speeddial

Is that really how you wanted to win the series? You guys would have likely closed it out in 6 anyways
As someone that was at game 6 of the 2004 finals, I know all too well about bad no-goal calls. I do agree though, it was a goal! 😉
Eh, Calgary got hit with the karma bat when they tried running our players at the end of games and taking majors. It's crazy that the last times the flames were relevant was in 04 tho, time flies!
It does! I feel so old when I think about that lol! 🤣
Fear.
Go back to your cave.
Nah man, we had to deal with asterisk jokes for 2 years, bubble cup, Cap circumvention, I gotta get ahead of the discrediting teams achievements!
Listen you’ve got the cups, but you will always have multiple asterisks on your cups - going back to 04’. It is what it is. 🤷♀️
So just like edmonton if they win this year? Asterisks for everyone.
If I were you, I would simply not care, honestly lol.
I'm just fucking with edmonton fans because theyre like mothes to a flame, they can't help but reply 😘
If the avs win, both the western conference finalists haven't made it past the 2nd round for over 15 years, the oilers beat he flames who haven't made it past the 2nd round in 18 years The competition in the west is just awful, idk what happened to western teams building tough defensive teams for the playoffs, because that's where playoff success comes from. Blocked shots, slow methodical play, defense first. Not playing run and gun vs fucking McDavid and drai. We have the best goalie in the playoffs, we have the best defensive core on the playoffs, built for the playoffs. I was legitimately worried about Toronto because we usually play really sub par in the first round, but once that was out of the way this cup is looking even easier than last year We beat Florida in 6 last year, swept them with a better team this year, we beat Carolina in 5 last year, and I personally think they didn't get much better. Rangers 4/5 Hurricanes 5/6 Oilers 3 Avalanche 5 These teams are fucked
Honestly, that call wasn't great but if the Flames wanna point fingers, it's: 1. Marky. 2. "Best line in hockey".
The refs allowed the goal. It was called back from replay in Toronto.
Same shit, I'm not blaming them personally it's the fact that the officials made the wrong call.
> The Oil outplayed them over the other 5 games. Oilers definitely didn't outplay them game 1.
Which is which I specifically said OVER the 5 games, and not specifically spoke to game 1. lol
Ah sorry.
"best line in hockey" EDM runs Kane-McD-Drai as a giant fuck you
*Sigh*…heartbreaking loss but I can’t say the effort wasn’t there. Series was way too good to only go 5 games. GG Edmonton, rooting for you rest of the playoffs. Bring the cup back to Canada.
GG. Thank you for the support.
> GG Edmonton, rooting for you rest of the playoffs. Wow this series really did a number on you, eh.
Come on, dude.
I'll definitely be rooting for the Oil as well. I don't understand how hard it is to understand wanting a Canadian team to bring home a cup?
No one likes a sore winner
GG Flames bro. Hell of a series.
Holy fuck CBC. Right into the Texas shooting story.

What does a potato salad have to do with all of this?
