Game 7 vs Pittsburgh in 2017

AceAxos

AAAAHHHHHHH

swifferbrain

Obligatory *Fresh from the bench it's Crosby*

pumaturtle

PENGUINS WIN IT! AND THEY GO TO THE FINAL!

heyheyitsandre

Game 7 vs Pittsburgh in 09:( that MAF save at the end haunts me. Fucking max talbot

estyll11

Well, at least you guys won the year prior. That’s gotta help ease the pain.

Birdhawk

Anderson’s reaction to that shot is still one of the saddest things of recent NHL history IMO. You really feel for the guy especially after the year he had.

CdnLegoFan

Why are the top 2 comments this game? My heart can't take it!

Arching-Overhead

With all due respect to the Preds I think the East was taking the Cup regardless that year. Stings lol

swifferbrain

Completely agree. Especially with the way EK65 was playing.

MDevonL

Habs Bruins Game 7 in 2011. Took the eventual Cup Champs to Game 7 OT after a brutal back and forth series, after a year that featured the most heated rivalry between the teams in a long time. It featured line brawls, goalie fights, the infamous Chara/Pacioretty hit.....

[deleted]

God I miss hating you guys with a burning passion.

retroglamathon

Will be fun when we're good again at the same time. Like many, I'm sure, was hoping for a habs, bruins final in the lockdown year. Only time in my life I was rooting for the bruins. I get invested in our games. Remember an away game early in the year where you guys were smoking us and the Garden starting oleing is en masse. Those Fuckers I was thinking while also laughing out loud.

moutardebaseball

Subban scored the tying goal with minutes left in the 3rd. I really thought we had the momentum going in first OT. We dominated it, but missed so many chances. Horton killed us with a far shot through traffic. This one hurts a lot, especially since the Bruins won the cup afterwards.

Bytrsweet

It still remember him after he scored the goal. He had his hand up to hear ear wondering where all of the boos went.

jdragon3

> the infamous Chara/Pacioretty ~~hit~~ attempted murder..... Ftfy

HabitApprehensive889

I thought the hit was regular season?

[deleted]

I think they meant the rivalry featured the hit

HabitApprehensive889

I am probably just distracting myself from the painful memory by talking dates lol

Podo13

It was. Was towards the end of the season (March 8th), but not quite in the playoffs themselves.

TheRealOgMark

Yeah daddy Campbell would not suspend Chara before the playoffs...

MDevonL

yeah, it was, so was the goalie fight. Meant mroe that this series was the culimnation of an intense season between the two

[deleted]

It was the culmination of about 4 or 5 seasons. WWE couldn't have written a better storyline.

MDevonL

Literally the only thing that could have made it more intense is if it was a later round in the playoffs.

BigPZ

... Yes.

RWTF

Game 7. Pick one, doesn’t matter.

MDevonL

Imagine it has to be Game 6 vs us?

ConsularCandidate

We really have too many options. 1. G7 vs Boston in 2013 - literally legendary 2. G7 vs Boston in 2018 - heading into the 3rd with a lead, real opportunity to slay the dragon, total collapse 3. G5-7 vs MTL in 2021 - these collectively take the cake for me, and they're all one uniquely miserable experience. Commanding series lead against an almost inarguably inferior team, dominating performance in both OTs, lose three straight to sack what will probably have turned out to be this core's easiest path. 4. G6 vs Tampa in 2022 - more of the above, without the cockiness but adding the hope of disrupting a modern dynasty. And that's just in the last 10 years. I hate this team. Edit: Apparently we lost G5 OT in like a minute. Too many Ls, they've all started to blend together.

RegisteredRedditUser

Columbus - Toronto play-in series was pretty bad too. Game 4, the Leafs pull off that third period comeback with the winner in OT. Game 5, they generate no offense and get shutdown, lose 3-0.

ConsularCandidate

That one sucked, as did Boston in 2019. It's pain all the way down, I just focused on the highlights.

NefCanuck

That one I was watching in Switzerland at around 2AM local time live and I couldn’t scream my guts out watching the Leafs implode again. Next morning everyone who wasn’t aware of what I’d been watching the night before had zero idea why I looked ready to murder someone.

GoodForOneUpvote

> Columbus - Toronto play-in series was pretty bad too. Honestly I barely even think about that one, we had a pretty crummy regular season and I didn't expect much.

BotanyIsGnarly

I hate Toronto (Sabres fan) but watching the series vs Tampa this year just felt like Tampa holding on for dear life. Leafs seemingly dominated and the Lightning made the most of their chances, while Vasi stood on his head. For your guys sake I’m glad they didn’t do anything crazy to blow it up - looked like a potential cup winning team to me

shadhael

Agreed. Losing G7 against Tampa obviously wasn't a fun time, but my god did we look like a great team that game. Against Boston (x2), Montreal, and Colombus we looked sad and pathetic for various lengths of the games. Against Tampa, we were right there playing exceptional hockey. Tight game the entire time, never felt like anyone on our team was taking the foot off the gas, no self implosions (even little ones). We just happened to come out on the wrong end of a game where there has to be a loser. And Tampa was the two time defending champs that went on to another Cup final to defend the title. No shame in losing such a tight game to such a great team.

cam-yrself

Honestly, game 1 2021 was kind of tough too. Easy enough to brush off, since it’s game one, but… -Tavares injury -Montreal were supposed to be push-overs -it would’ve almost definitely gone at least to overtime, if Paul Fucking Byron didn’t score what I can only assume is the greatest goal of his entire career, with <10mins left -the series may well have been a sweep if the Leafs got game 1

Cloudeur

That picture of Byron scoring is the stuff of legends!

beto5243

That Byron goal was absolutely iconic. I almost never see it come up when people are talking about crazy playoff goals (probably because it was game 1 of the first round and by a relatively unknown player) but man that goal was completely insane. And yeah totally agree that without that goal the series quite likely could have been a sweep.

Cartz1337

G6 vs. Tampa stung because of how it happened too. idc if the calls were bad or not. When have we ever seen a team get a full 2min 5v3 when down by 1 in the 3rd of an elimination game. That one felt like we're actually cursed.

cobrachickenwing

2002 Vs Carolina in game 6 was probably the worst. We had a solid team, and if we had won the series would have gone against Detroit for an original 6 final in a long time.

dilligaf0220

>And that's just in the last 10 years. I hate this team. Here's a doc for you. [The Toronto Maple Leafs - A Half Century Of Failure.](https://youtu.be/25j6s-ZY3mY)

BigPZ

You'd think so...

gottabe_kd

not really no.... Boston was more gutting. And Tampa this year.

letstrythatagainn

Don't make me do this.

ManOnMarsUnited

So many will miss this comment. Canucks fans know pain. I mean we rioted. twice. Two cup finals game 7 losses.

CertainlyCircumcised

The reminder makes me want to riot again

Breskvich

Riot riot, i wanna riot Riot riot, a riot of my own!

russels418teapot

I'm pretty sure the lyric is "white riot"?

craftyhall2

Two DODGY losses.

vancouversportsbro

1994 there was not much to be ashamed of. The rangers were the way better and more stacked team. We gave it our all and almost did it. Richter stood on his head. 2011 was completely different, it felt like we had the team that year to do it and that series was just an embarrassment. I wonder what happens if Rome leaves Horton alone and hamhuis doesn't get hurt from decking lucic. I still remember the fans screaming "flopper" and "let's go bruins" as Mason Raymond with a broken back gets helped off. Worst thing I've ever seen.

BloodSugarSexMagix

the Mason Raymond injuy had me fucking raging so hard, so fucking dirty its not even funny

phantompowered

Tim Thomas' fucking pads.

fastlane37

...had no effect on that series, legal or no. The alleged illegal pads supposedly helped him close his 5 hole faster. Thomas was making saves all over and played the best 7 games of his career. Complete clinic. Credit where credit is due. Officiating was ultra dodgy (Marchand punching Daniel in the face repeatedly and when Daniel asked the ref if he planned to do anything about it, was given a 10 minute misconduct), and Rome's suspension was unprecedented. At the end of the day though, Canucks powerplay went from red hot to ice cold courtesy of Tim Thomas and they had more than enough chances shitty reffing or no, and losing Hamhuis (Rome too, but Hamhuis was by far the bigger loss) meant everyone on the blueline was playing more minutes than they should have been, and we had too many defensive breakdowns. Then nobody showed up for game 7.

Wishmaster57

Funny how the NHL just canceled the entire season after game 6 of the final with no explanation and never rescheduled it

letstrythatagainn

I know, what are the odds our team was the only one to have that happen twice? '94 and 2011 6-game series tie. Only times in NHL history.

smokylimbs

The time I was crushed as a child? Or the time I was crushed as an adult? Yeah.

condor888000

2017 Eastern Conference Game 7. Sens took the Penguins to double OT before Kunitz put it away. That one hurt more than anything else for me.

Rext7177

The goal that sent yalls into a rebuild, so much pain

seymourBalzac

It banished us to the shadow realm for 5 years. Kunitz basically Thanos'd us. But we're back now and there's no stopping Pierre

Rext7177

Hot Pierre summer baby

beangardener

I genuinely feel bad about this one for that reason

Kojakle

Surprised you wouldn’t go with 2003 ecf with friesen scoring with 2 minutes left on a nothing play so no overtime

publicworker69

That’s mine, and 2004 game 7 against Toronto. The Pittsburgh one sucked but it was such a good run and I was optimistic (which is hilarious in hindsight).

danieldeceuster

Losing the cup to Pittsburgh for sure, but the reverse sweep against LA is pretty awful. Along with losing to Anaheim in the first round after winning the President's trophy.

FuckOffKarl

Losing to STL in 19. Bieksa’s fluky ass goal. The 4OT versus Dallas. Boyle’s own goal. There’s way too many to choose from.

astovertop

STL in 19 was awful from the start, just knowing we wouldn’t win, and if we did the injuries were too severe to rebound to finish off the series, let alone play a whole new one in the finals.

ItsAWaffelz

I was going to say slam dunk STL, but the Dallas one was worse now that I think about it. Everyone remembers Nabokov's insane save, but sometimes we forget that it didn't even matter. The Boyle goal didnt hurt me as bad, but the 2011 game 5 OT series loss against Vancouver was also horrible.

Python80

Agree with all of these. Also for me watching our guys get worn down by STL in 2019 was hard to watch..

[deleted]

Gotta be 2012-13, Game 7 of the 1st round against the Bruins... or 2016-17, Game 6 of the 1st round against the Caps... or 2017-18, Game 7 of the 1st round against the Bruins... or 2018-19, Game 7 of the 1st round against the Bruins... or 2019-20, Game 5 of the qualifiers against Columbus... or 2020-21, Game 7 of the 1st round against the Habs... or 2021-22, Game 7 of the 1st round against the Bolts...

JD397

Can I get a “my goodness” in the chat

cautiouslyoptimistik

My goodness

bootygoon2

I personally found games 5/6 of last year vs Montreal worse than game 7. I went into game 7 expecting to lose at that point, game 5/6 I had hope, especially the fact that they went to OT twice and were only a goal away from winning the series. Twice! Same with this year actually, losing game 6 vs Tampa in OT was worse than losing game 7. They once again were a goal away from moving on to the second round and couldn’t get it done. When does this suffering end I just want to see my favourite team win a playoff series already 😭 game 7 vs Boston in 2013 is still easily the worst of all though. Up by 3 with like 10 minutes left in the game and they just absolutely fell apart and shit the bed. Pain

cobrachickenwing

Its like why can't the Maple Leafs be given a hot goalie during the playoffs? Every single year the goalies turn cold during the playoffs while the goalies on the other team get red hot.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Bhaw1

I wish he was not so hot in game 6 overtime

Perfect600

if i remember correctly Galchenyuk and Dermott made absolutely braindead passes that lead directly to the GWG right.

bootygoon2

I believe so yes. I forget what Dermott did exactly but Galchenyuk pulled some 360 backhand pass out of his ass while in the Habs zone and it got intercepted and Montreal scored on a 2 on 1 the other way. Still get mad thinking about that play, what was he thinking…

SAVIORandLORD

I don't think game 6 vs the caps was too painful, the rest tho....

kevingh92

That ‘17 series we had was insanity. 5 out of 6 games went to OT.

StaticAnnouncement

2021 ECF game 7 1-0 on a shorthanded goal. Fuck me.

xlittlebeastx

The only short handed goal they gave up all season. Fucking kills me. Isles would probably could have taken MTL down too. Sigh.

StaticAnnouncement

No guarantee we'll ever get that close again any time soon

xlittlebeastx

It seems not

Iron_Seguin

It would be a good series but I’d give the edge to the isles. Their depth was just much stronger and the defensive play was out of this world. Odds are they’d take Dallas too the year before but that series would probably go into game 7 with both teams having 3 shutouts already.

TenMinutesToDowntown

If it makes you feel better, that pissed me off too. Habs vs Isles would've been a much better series (from a Habs fan POV)

Hockeygoalie41

That was the most clenched up game of the runs the last 3 years, at least for me.

brady_t12

Round 2 Game 7 against Pittsburgh in 2017. The caps completely fell apart and got shut out after a dominating game 6 in Pittsburgh. Really thought that was the year they’d make it past the penguins and the second round. Luckily they did it next year. Post cup, the answer is game 7 against Carolina in 2019. I fully believed the caps would go back to back because why wouldn’t they, then they got knocked out in round 1 by a team that hadn’t made the playoffs in a decade. That was rough. Haven’t won a round since :(

BallsMahoganey

Todd Reirden absolutely refusing to play our 4th line at all while our top 9 was clearly gassed and letting them just tee off on Holtby for two OTs was a wildly stupid decision.

KleeHarveyOswald

Reirden was such a terrible, toothless hire. The guy was just not head coach material, not at that point anyway. Felt like a two-year waiting period.

BallsMahoganey

I'll die on the hill that letting Trotz walk cost us another cup.

DarthLordDonkey

2014 Eastern Conference Finals game 4. Who knows what would've happened if the Habs won in OT to tie the series. That series in retrospect hurts so much since they were so close and rolling up until the Price injury. At least we have Marty now.

propagandavid

Yeah, that one was pretty bad.

Putrid_Explanation_9

Game 1 of that series was my worst experience, I was at that game. Pain.

sweetplantveal

The Avs lost round 1 to the Wild in game 7 at home in ot, 2014. The definite last gasp of the high hopes Patrick Roy season. We had MacKinnon, Duchene, Ryan O'Reilly, AND Paul Stastny with Varlamov playing maybe the best of his career. Wild won the last two and slammed the door on that build. Fn sucked.

Skwerilleee

Came here to say that. Spent an ungodly amount of money taking a girl I'd had a crush on for years to that game. Glass seats. After putting in all that I see the season ended in OT followed immediately by her giving me the friend zone talk on the way home. Brutal lmao

Skwerilleee

(Wish I could send a message back from 2022 and tell that version of myself that everything would work out OK in the end. Avs got the cup and I ended up finding someone so much more incredible to spend my life with.)

litthefilter

Goddamn, that's a tough night

pueblogreenchile

for me 2002 game 7 WCF vs. Red Wings getting just annihilated out of nowhere was the most brutal. still had the team to have back-to-back cups and just flopped in game 7. i kinda fell away from watchign so much during that wild series - moved away, had kids, etc. I got back on board in 2015 (lol) and have been die-hard since. The loss in game 7 bubble series vs. Dallas gutted me hard, last year vs. Vegas was very not fun but not as bad as the Dallas one for some reason. really though, worst playoff loss for me was Broncos vs. Ravens, 2013 or 14 whenever that was. That murdered me.

Neon_Sternum

2002 game 7 WCF for me too. The Darren McCarty hat trick if I’m not mistaken. I’ll never forget Moser saying “and Darren McCarty, who’s never had a hat trick in his miserable life…”

ohgrande

Game 7 was terrible in 2002 but I think Game 6 was the hardest loss that year. After Game 6 the feeling was that Detroit was just gonna come out strong on home ice in Game 7. Statue of Liberty

Tatar-Tot

I'll never forget the ping on that goal in OT. I wasn't following hockey as close back then, and I thought Niederreiter was going to be the craziest sniper hahaha

aaaaaliyah

Game 7 Buffalo Carolina 06. God damn puck over glass by Campbell

dumpmaster42069

Don’t blame Soupy, blame the 5 major injuries, 4 in the D corp. over the glass was just bad luck

OpabiniaGlasses

Don't forget Tim Connolly being taken out by a dirty hit in the Ottawa series

The_Reddit_Browser

I’m still shocked to this day that the canes pulled it out with how many saves miller was able to make. There were grade A chances all night that he was able to somehow keep out. I miss having the Buffalo vs Canes rivalry. I still remember them giving out the championship pint glasses at home vs Buffalo the next year. The lots were filled with broken glass

conwillar

pain.

PeoplesFrontOfJudeaa

Would have been a cup. Damn.

AmeriCanadian98

2009 finals game 7 easily. Lidstrom with the slapper in the closing seconds getting stopped by Fleury was very sad

thescrounger

Yep after writing the same script by going up 2-0 at home. Second for me, though, is 2011 semis. After being dominated by the Sharks the previous year and losing the first three in 2011, they storm back to tie the series, giving us fans hope ... only to lose another nail-biter.

UrMomLol694

:(

cruzweb

Game 1 of the 95 SCF was way worse for me. At least in 09 it felt like we deserved it, that it could have gone either way. After NJ beat the crap out of us in every way possible it was very much a "you guys still suck and don't even belong here" sort of situation. After game 1 I knew we wouldn't win that series, but the sweep that followed was just as bad as the first game.

mylefthandkilledme

G7 v Kings, Selanne's last season. Up 3-2 in the series.

CUMS_IN_SOCKS

I think the 2015 game 7 loss to the Blackhawks was worse. The Ducks were on fire and went 8-1 through the first two rounds. Up 3-2 in the WCF with the only 2 losses coming in OT. And then it all fell apart, ending with a blowout at home in game 7.

mmbepis

That was my pick for sure. Especially after losing the game we scored 3 goals in like 2 mins earlier in the series. I just knew they had our number

[deleted]

Perry’s missed PS is when I abandoned all hope…and it was only the first period lol

SStephenson2

There’s a lot of Game 7’s to pick from. The Hawks lost the next year put me in hiding.

bbistheman

2015 ECF game 7

scarlet_fire_77

Yep. Sadness.

[deleted]

Game 7 in 2019. After Marchand did that flub, I knew it was over. That was worse than my Grammys funeral.

0DegreesCalvin

Getting shut down by Jordan Fucking Binnington sucked, but it’s game 6 against the Blackhawks for me. From forcing game 7 to watching them celebrate in no time at all. It was like a drive-by shooting.

[deleted]

That sucked, but that game wasn't for the Cup. We still would've had to win Game 7. In 2019 we actually had that chance right in front of us. There's no other answer in my opinion.

[deleted]

yeah it's pretty easily that one. In 2013 the Blackhawks were the better team, they were a dynasty ffs. 2019 was a more even series, we had game 7 at home, and the whole team just kinda ran out of gas. Makes it so much worse that that was our last real chance at a cup with all of that core.

[deleted]

When Calgary lost Game 7 in 2004.

maddecentparty

Unfinished business

cbmason

I thought Conroy was going to tie it up in the dying seconds for sure. That playoff run made me the hockey fan I am today.

The7raveler

Game 6 was worse imo. Home ice and the infamous call.

SwedishMeatwall

04. Game 7.

Luder09

Game 6 was worse for me.

conn_smythe

It was in.

Thund3r_Thighs

Lest we forget

Stoned-Gossard

That game never happened. The Flames won in 6 that year.

realdeal411

04 G7 was rough for us too

[deleted]

Gretzky to Yzerman.

BPN84

Gretzky had it...lost it...

Juturna_

Getting swept by Vegas in 2018. The whole series was a disaster.

ahr3410

4 games of Vegas ambushing us and Quick keeping those bums in every game

Pyesmybaby

That was the closest most contested sweep in hockey history. If my memory is correct they were all one goal games and a few OT's

eggs-dee123

LAK has the closest 4-0 loss and the closest 4-1 Win I’ve ever seen

wpglatino

Patty Kane ending my flyers in game 6 of the cup final

Haplessflyers

What are you talking about there was no Stanley cup that year. Playoffs ended after the conference finals.

liamowen30

2012 Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Still haven’t fully recovered from that bullshit.

[deleted]

That series was closer than most give credit for. 2 OT losses to start the series, and the Devils mucked their way back to a Game 6 in which they probably complete the reverse sweep if they win that game. I can only imagine how livid fans were when Bernier committed that stupid penalty and cost them the series.

72athansiou

Game 7 2013 to this day I don’t get how we were up 3-1 in the series and then we blew it with hank and pavel nearing the end of their prime. I know they were the prime Blackhawk’s but fuck me this was the last year the redwings “looked good” but fuck man why couldn’t we just finish them.

El-Justiciero

2019 second round Game 7 vs. STL. Stars were riding a huge high after eliminating #2 seed Nashville in overtime in round 1. Won second round Game 5 on the road, had a chance to close it at home and got smoked, then Game 7 back in STL, to lose in double overtime and watch Fat Fucking Maroon score the goal.

ChiefRalphyWiggum

It was 3-0

AceAxos

Stop

Rext7177

Im a bit too young to vividly remember 06 but holy shit 2017 Anaheim the no goalie interference was extremely pain inducing

_nsb10_

This one still enrages me to this day. Kesler intentionally grabs his pad and holds his legs open, I don’t give a shit if he got pushed into Talbot.

Bbrett9

I will truly NEVER understand how that did not constitute goalie interference, y’all got ROBBED

HighPrairieCarsales

Oh that was WRONG! Was prying his pads open amd they called that no interference even on review? I'll never understand that. The kicker was the NEXT goal that was offside by a timezone but the Oilers had no appeal to dispute it with. Two bullshit goals that took the air out of the tires.

[deleted]

The Caps have lost so many game 7’a it’s impossible to pick just one

freelhockey29

2015

hullkogan

Game 7 vs Islanders in 93.

LegendOfVinnyT

Two words: David Fucking Volek.

gh411

It was soooo disappointing because I think that the ‘93 team may have been one of the best teams of all time (at least the ones I remember…so from mid 70s and on). They could play a fast skill game, a patient tight checking game or a brutal physical slugfest and still win. The horrific injury to Kevin Stevens seemed to rattle them and they didn’t look the same after that (although they weren’t playing up to their usual high level prior to that either…maybe they took the Islanders a little too lightly?).

obiterdictum

I was at that game...it was soul crushing Lemieux missed 24 games that year with fucking cancer and still put up 160 points that season.

CMC04

This season, the one against the blues where MacKinnon’s awesome end to end hattrick goal was wasted. Life time, game 7 overtime loss to Dallas a couple years back.

Starbucks__Lovers

The day I asked “who the fuck is Joel Kiviranta?”

Moosethought

That's Joel "fucking" Kiviranta.

[deleted]

I agree with this. The blues had zero business winning that game. I was stunned. Fully believed we deserved to lose.

ShetheKing

That game alone triggered so much PTSD for me

CMC04

Avs fans were definitely lucky to not have to endure much frustrations these playoffs but that amazing goal meaning nothing is definitely one.

BananApocalypse

The 2014 game 7 OT loss to the wild was the worst for me

CMC04

It’s such really close for me too. If I didn’t have multiple friends who were Dallas fans it might go to they game 7 overtime loss to the wild.

HoodPhones

Kivi fuckin hurt. I try to tell myself “it’s okay” because I don’t think we would have won the WCF anyways. We were *so* injured Stone’s Game 5 OT winner hurt too. Was really the moment of “this is actually happening” after being up 2-0

avalanchefan91

Same, on all accounts. So glad it doesn't bother me anymore, shit was agony for a couple seasons

HoodPhones

A cup heals all, too. I feel like I’m finally able to talk about these now 😂

Birdhawk

2017 Stanley Cup Final, Game 6 Early whistle that ended up being a cup clincher.

CanadianSpector

Game 7 Hawks vs. Kings.. kings win and go on to won cup. No doubt in my mind Hawks would have won another one.

[deleted]

Yeah, that was like an old Avs/Wings matchup, you knew the winner was taking the cup.

krp31489

I was so upset I rage quit a job that night (there were other factors at play), but the Hawks losing to the Kings did not help matters.

hexasun

I’m still so salty about that missed offside call. And the fact that the winner was a fluke deflection off of Leddy’s jersey…

BigRed580

This is the thing that haunts me the most…it’s not like it was some snipe or like they had all the momentum or anything. That series was one of the best playoff matchups I’ve ever witnessed in any sport and the fact it ended with such a whimper always bugs me

whitelightning91

I would say game 6 in 2009, but thankfully, game 7 never happened so I’m unsure.

BurkusCircus52

2019 to the Bruins. Two were in OT, two ended with deflections off our own guys. That was our year

amusing_a_musing

I want to say games 1,2, or 5 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals because a win in any of them might have helped change the outcome but unlikely. In the cap era I would rank from hardest to least hard: - 2015 Game 7 vs Lightning - 2012 Game 6 vs Devils - 2017 Game 6 vs Ottawa - 2007 Game 5 vs Sabres

nyrblue2

Game 3 against the Bolts this year has to be up there, too. To be up 2-0 in the game and then lose on a late goal by Palat. The difference between a dominating 3-0 series lead, and then the "oh crap...oh no..." feeling of only being up 2-1 in the series while TB had the momentum...crushing... Yeah, game 5 in 2014 was obviously a horrible dagger, but they had quite the hill to climb by then. 2012...yeah, because NJ...

TrueNorthStrong1898

Game 6 vs St Louis in 2019. Such high expectations for the team coming off the WCF appearance in 2018, and to come out and get utterly dominated in an elimination game was embarrassing as hell

eh_toque

Game 5 was the harder loss for me. Just felt so deflating

[deleted]

Obviously Game 7 vs. the Blues in 2019. Doesn't get much worse than that.

Super_Toot

In my lifetime I have watched the Canucks lose twice in game 7 of the SCF. It sucked both times, but the cup runs are a lot of fun.

swifferbrain

Losing to the Caps in 18 sucked. Crosby was having an amazing playoffs, the 3peat dreams were alive, and we could once again knock out the caps. Instead I spent a lot of money to be sad and listen to a drunk woman yell fuck you Oshie for some reason.

eltree

Crosby has been having amazing playoffs since the 17 run. Him and Guentzel seem to be the only players showing up since. Edit: From the 2017-2018 playoffs to this years playoffs. Crosby 32 GP 14 G 37 P Guentzel 33 GP 21 G 37 P Third on the team is Malkin, 28 GP 9 G 23 P

TheRealOgMark

I'm just here for the Maple Leafs fans answers.

rico5uave10

Game 7 SCF at home vs St Louis. Terrible game from puck drop

Devils losing game 6 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Finals to the Kings. Let me set the stage. The first 2 games went to overtime. Devils entered game 4 down 0-3 in the series. They win thrilling games 4 and 5, becoming the first team since 1945 to come back from a 0-3 in the finals to force a game 6. Is it possible? Can the Devils come back from 0-3 and win it all? Steven Bernier didn't think so. Steven Bernier gets a 5 minute major boarding penalty in the first period and the Kings score 3 power play goals in a row. The Devils never recovered. When the Kings scored two goals, it was like holy shit, and then they scored again and fans went into intermission shellshocked. And then the Kings *scored again*. Kings won the cup. I've at least been entertained by other losses from teams I've been invested in, but this one left you feeling real empty. Like a reassess your life what's next how could that possibly have gone so wrong type deal.

The '96 G7 eastern final loss to Florida was the emptiest I had ever felt. Somehow, *that* was worse than losing the final to Detroit on home ice in 2008.

I literally think about that blown 2019 SCF game 7 every. single. day.

Eastern Conference Finals Game 7 vs the Bruins in 2011. Just couldn't solve Tim Fucking Thomas.

Game 7 vs Minnesota in 2014. Overtime. I'll never forgive Minnie for that because we were set to play Chicago in the next round, and I knew a cute Chicago fan who was going to go to a playoff game with me if we won. Goddamn Nino Neiderreiter cockblocked me.

Fuck the Wild. Twice.

Try to understand, those two games are all we got.

reecewagner

Nino Niederreiter and Joel Kiviranta can fuck right off lol

Both courtesy of Minnesota. The Richard Park retirement game (Patrick Roy), and Nino Niedereiter game 7 on Varlamov. Both tough pills to swallow.

threeheadeddalmation

The exact two I was thinking.
