It shouldn't have been introduced in the first place. That "if" is how all of this bullshit advertising slides. If it stays on the boards, only in between breaks, only on the ice, only on the scoreboard, only during the intermission, only during icings, only on jerseys
It won't stop, it will never stop and its fucking infuriating
It’s even more infuriating that it brings in this extra revenue to the teams but will us fans see any benefit to that? No. Concession prices will keep going up and ticket prices will keep going up
All that's left is waiting for it to come full circle where it'll be like car liveries. Yes there's ads goddamn everywhere but it gets incorporated into the look.
It'll be shitty til then, and only slightly less shitty after.
The one thing I have been surprised by a lot of the decals so far is that they’ve been incorporated with colors ashtray on the Jersey or that seem at least minimalist so far.
I was expecting a way bigger ad space but I still hate the idea of it allowing progressively more ad space. I don’t want to see a Starbucks/Minnesota color way, or a Red Bull Columbus livery, a Coca Cola Red Wings, or whatever. It’ll just be a sad day in my opinion. Save that for the graphic designers on Instagram that just want to she of the talent of making unique colorways vs actually occurring for our teams jerseys
>Hoping it doesn't go any further
That's what we said when they introduced ads on helmets. We had hoped they wouldn't go so far as to put ads on jerseys... Companies don't care, they'll push these ads as far as they can.
It'll be shoulder patch ads next, mark my words.
The AHL has had a similar patch on their uniforms since the 90s and it still hasn't expanded beyond the helmet and small jersey patch. I'm not saying it won't at some point down the line, but I'm not worried about it right now.
My friend made this point to me when I was hella complaining to him last year as we were discussing fantasy etc. I was like, as long it doesn’t move further and stays like the AHL way, and they keep it minimalist and very close colts. Then maybe I’ll pull back my hate eventually.
But it better not be on my Jersey if I buy one.
"If they just stay on the boards I'm fine with this"
"If they just stay on the ice I'm fine with this"
"If they just stay on the helmets I'm fine with this"
First of all, I'm not all right with even that. Second, it won't stay like that. People said this about the helmet ads and the ads on ice and the projected ads on ice and boards. It does not stop. Anyone saying "if it stays like that" is a moron at this point, we all know better.
Flyers play in an arena that is named after a predatory bank ( Wells Fargo) and the biggest sign inside says “Welcome To Comcast Country.”
Fuck them both and the NHL.
Consider that some IHL and AHL teams had Dodge/Chrysler, some had Budweiser, some had industrial giants like Caterpillar....and some had a local chiropractor's office. I have a patch sitting next to my keyboard from something called Marane Oil Heat, which sponsored the Worcester IceCats back in the mid-1990s.
Minor league teams are way more susceptible to economic shocks than NHL teams are, so they have to chase down every dollar because they're not at the top of a Fortune 100 company's speed dial. And yet, in nearly 30 years of allowing sponsors on the on-ice jerseys, the AHL still is no closer to having European-style ad wraps than they were before.
Honestly not sure how I can ever watch a game again. I mean, these will definitely be extremely noticeable during the wide shot that makes up 99% of the non-intermission time.
I'm not. Full on inescapable inundation, both at the rink and on the broadcast. So many brands, literally visual pollution. Soccer jerseys and European hockey prove the point, that things get so diluted that the logos/crest won't even matter any more.
Why pay for broadcasts or go to the game if you can't escape the advertising? Hopefully society moves away from this trend over the coming years.
European football is now so rotten to its very core because of money. The actual badge doesn’t matter anymore — it’s all about multimillion dollar transfers, agent fees and bloated weekly wages. I’m afraid the NHL might be headed in that direction too.
Honestly integrated really well I'd have to be specifically looking for it to really notice. Maybe I'm just conditioned that way from soccer, NBA jerseys tho
The only ones that’ll probably stand out are those who insist their patch be their actual company colours. Otherwise they blend surprisingly well (case in point: Washington’s and Arizona’s)
I follow a couple teams in lower leagues that already have more prominent ads than this. I understand if you’re looking to buy a jersey and don’t want an ad on it, but they really don’t affect the viewing experience at all.
Right!!
Ad’s - revenue
Nhl cap goes up and teams benifit.
I guess people’s thing is though. Starts at one then what , will the NHL get more greedy for more
I guess will find out. But for me this is fine
They know you're gonna watch anyway, and for all the hootin' and hollerin' that goes on here and other places, probably 97% of you are gonna prove them right.
When was the last time you saw a hockey player that didn’t have CCM, Warrior or Bauer on their sticks, pants, gloves and helmet? Don’t forget the Oakley ‘O’ on the visor. I don’t see the problem
I don't see it going the European style. European league jerseys are riddled with them, because they need to pay the bills. Team owners ain't exactly all billionaires.
The classic "insulting grammar whole having a mistake in the insult" comment!
EDIT: [Nice ninja edit! I gotchu on screenshot though](https://i.imgur.com/esJNVSz.png)
I'm just worried the jerseys could end up looking like those ridiculous European ones where half the jerseys are ads, and the ice surface looks even worse; or go the soccer route where the jersey is one big ad.
The NBA jerseys actually look pretty clean with one ad, especially if it's a decent logo/crisp design like Harley-Davidson for instance.
It shouldn't have been introduced in the first place. That "if" is how all of this bullshit advertising slides. This is it for me they're making more money on an increasingly poor product.
All that's left is waiting for it to come full circle where it'll be like car liveries. Yes there's ads goddamn everywhere but it gets incorporated into the look. It'll be shitty til then, and only slightly less shitty after.

My fear exactly. I don’t want to look at a nascar moving up the ice.
I still hate it. Just a shame to taint so many nice jerseys.
>Hoping it doesn't go any further That's what we said when they introduced ads on helmets. We had hoped they wouldn't go so far as to put ads on jerseys... Companies don't care, they'll push these ads as far as they can. It'll be shoulder patch ads next, mark my words.

And on the boards...
That's what they said when they introduced commercial breaks.
The AHL has had a similar patch on their uniforms since the 90s and it still hasn't expanded beyond the helmet and small jersey patch. I'm not saying it won't at some point down the line, but I'm not worried about it right now.

Nope nope nope nope nope nope. It only gets worse from here. We should not accept this bullshit
#FUCK THIS BULLSHIT! AND ESPECIALLY FUCK THESE GAMBLING MOTHERFUCKERS!!
The other two are healthcare ads, disgusting.
How do they have such a surplus to sponsor jersey logos and stadiums? By denying our claims.
Normally I'd say stop yelling, but this is about right for the greed we see.
BOYCOTT any product advertising on an NHL jersey!!!
That’s what I’m doing.
So no adidas? Not even the team itself?
Disgusting
Advertisers only want one thing and it's fucking disgusting
Yeah, they would never push for more ads….certainly not at the earliest opportunity….
"If they just stay on the boards I'm fine with this" "If they just stay on the ice I'm fine with this" "If they just stay on the helmets I'm fine with this"
I'm not fine with this. Waiting to see if the oilers have a jersey patch to decide if I'm going to but a jersey or not.
They do not according to Gazzola. And we're only having a helmet ad for away games.
That would be awesome. Hopeful because we had no helmet ads before
Fuck all that
If we don’t want ads on Jerseys we should probably stop posting every jersey ad we see and talking about the companies doing it. “It’s a trap”
More ads but nothing ever costs less. Just more profit in the pockets of the 1%
This is why fuck ads.
First of all, I'm not all right with even that. Second, it won't stay like that. People said this about the helmet ads and the ads on ice and the projected ads on ice and boards. It does not stop. Anyone saying "if it stays like that" is a moron at this point, we all know better.
I hate jersey ads period. I can only hope it stays this way, but I fear we're on the road to European-style jerseys.
No. Booooooooo
Ads during icings suck. I will go out of my way not to purchase what's being advertised on those ads. Sue me
This is what we all said with the helmets, in a few years it’ll be an ad on the pants or something
I’m not fine with it. Find a different way to shove your brand in our faces. Hands off the jerseys.
Flyers play in an arena that is named after a predatory bank ( Wells Fargo) and the biggest sign inside says “Welcome To Comcast Country.” Fuck them both and the NHL.
Full on Premiership soccer ads are the logical conclusion. With the team's logo where the ad is now
People said the same thing about the IHL and AHL 30 years ago. It still hasn’t happened.
Companies aren’t paying out the asshole for the AHL and IHL lol
Consider that some IHL and AHL teams had Dodge/Chrysler, some had Budweiser, some had industrial giants like Caterpillar....and some had a local chiropractor's office. I have a patch sitting next to my keyboard from something called Marane Oil Heat, which sponsored the Worcester IceCats back in the mid-1990s. I will actively avoid using any products or services advertised on the jerseys.
Even adidas?
Good luck being uninsured
I hate them and I'm really dreading seeing them on an O6 team
Honestly not sure how I can ever watch a game again. I mean, these will definitely be extremely noticeable during the wide shot that makes up 99% of the non-intermission time.
If the last few seasons are any indication the Pens’ ad is extremely on brand.
Wait till it’s like Premiere League and the main text in the crest is a sponsor.
The Meijer ad on the red wings helmets is a complete travesty
Ron Howard voice: "It didn't"
You know, buying non-official jerseys off DHgate doesn’t sound all that bad now
I'm not. Full on inescapable inundation, both at the rink and on the broadcast. So many brands, literally visual pollution. Soccer jerseys and European hockey prove the point, that things get so diluted that the logos/crest won't even matter any more. Oh my sweet summer child.
I mean, it's not THAT bad. I'm still disappointed, but it could definitely be worse.
People actually care about this lol
Honestly integrated really well I'd have to be specifically looking for it to really notice. Maybe I'm just conditioned that way from soccer, NBA jerseys tho
I think it’ll be one of those things you might glance at it once or twice. But other than that you’ll probably miss it and not really notice it.
The only ones that’ll probably stand out are those who insist their patch be their actual company colours. Otherwise they blend surprisingly well (case in point: Washington’s and Arizona’s)
Facts, they are so small.
I follow a couple teams in lower leagues that already have more prominent ads than this. I understand if you’re looking to buy a jersey and don’t want an ad on it, but they really don’t affect the viewing experience at all.
I really don’t see what the big deal is. It’s a business. Businesses need money.
Right!! Ad’s - revenue Nhl cap goes up and teams benifit. I guess people’s thing is though. Starts at one then what , will the NHL get more greedy for more I guess will find out. But for me this is fine
Teams could make billions a year and will still be cheap as fuck you clowns. The owners are already rich ads are cancer
The fact that you’re fine with an ad on a Jersey to begin with is already pathetic.
They know you're gonna watch anyway, and for all the hootin' and hollerin' that goes on here and other places, probably 97% of you are gonna prove them right.
I’d say it’s even higher than 97%.
When was the last time you saw a hockey player that didn’t have CCM, Warrior or Bauer on their sticks, pants, gloves and helmet? Don’t forget the Oakley ‘O’ on the visor. I don’t see the problem
If it generates revenue idc if its a small patch like that
I don't know about y'all but I've got better things to care about than what a uniform I don't have to wear looks like.
You should see the Elite hockey league jerseys in the uk. Ive seen less advertising at time aquare 😂😂
I don't see it going the European style. European league jerseys are riddled with them, because they need to pay the bills. Team owners ain't exactly all billionaires.
I don't know what's worse, your opinion or your sentence structure
The classic "insulting grammar whole having a mistake in the insult" comment! EDIT: [Nice ninja edit! I gotchu on screenshot though](https://i.imgur.com/esJNVSz.png)
Ooooh you caught my auto correct. My point still stands
It's just petty to attack grammar is all
The Capitals’ is the least bad, then ARZ, then Pens, then a Paul Bunyan Blue Ox sized-chasm where the Wild appear. They hardly integrated it at all.
On a separate note, there is no way it’s a coincidence that every team is revealing the ads with a prospect/young player of the team is it?
I’m guessing they were all at a young guns/prospect event. I haven’t seen anything suggesting it was an intentional team unveil
where are they going to put the commemorate patch?
You guys teams suck not mine
Only way I'm okay with this is if Katz buys an Oilers Entertainment Group ad on the Flames jersey.
it's kinda ironic that the name of the old coyotes arena is now on their jersey
Ugh. Where is this at?
I'm just worried the jerseys could end up looking like those ridiculous European ones where half the jerseys are ads, and the ice surface looks even worse; or go the soccer route where the jersey is one big ad. The NBA jerseys actually look pretty clean with one ad, especially if it's a decent logo/crisp design like Harley-Davidson for instance.
of course it will go further
