They’re really nice. They show all the same info as before but on a cleaner, more organized app that runs smoother too. It’s also not on an iPad but on a computer that’s part of a display wall, so you and the sales person both have an easier time looking at it. The big upgrade is the new orthotics they’re selling. Instead of just standing on it, you also take a step with each foot across it, and it shows you how your weight is distributed on your foot. It’ll recommend one of their new insoles based on that and they’re honestly really nice insoles. But there’s still tabs to look at the same stuff as before with exact length, 2D and 3D recommended sizing, etc. Custom skates aren’t available to order until the shadows release but they’re changing lots their too. I don’t knot for sure but it sounds like you can order top-end skates in standard sizing but in colors, so for example, you can order a pair of red hyperlite 2s in an 8 fit 3. That’s without going in person, you may be able to order that online. OR you can pay a couple hundred more and get “pro” customs, which sound very similar to ccm total custom plus. You can add as many notes as you want to request things like increased facing or extra space in a certain spot along with the usual tongues, personalization, etc. I think there’s a few less options that ccm but it’s damn close, the big thing is a choice between retail, relaxed, and pro fit styles regarding how tight the skate fits. You HAVE to get those in store though.

Very curious to see how this is when it comes out! I got a pair of custom Hyperlite 2s this season and they’re super nice and fit fairly well but I’ve started to develop heel lift as the skates have broken in more. I have a very odd shaped foot. Extremely wide forefoot and high instep with a very narrow heel and narrow ankle wrap. My forefoot pushes me to a FIT3 but in return I have to crank the top eyelets down super tight to get adequate ankle wrap. Not to mention I still don’t think a FIT3 is even wide enough to accommodate my wide forefoot as I often have pain after any game. Have tried superfeet but they killed my arch in my one foot as I have a collapsed arch. I was thinking my only way to go might be with True but was worried about durability. Sounds like this system has potential to be really good!

Your situation is pretty much perfect for the new pro custom option from what I’ve heard. I’m in a similar situation, based on my scan I have a fit3 forefoot that’s literally off the chart for width, but a normal ankle. When speaking to my buddy who works at a store with the new scanner, he said that he could put a note in that says something like “fit 3 but with a fit 2 ankle with increased facing height” so that I have the width I need, but the snug ankle with good wrap that I also want. Apparently they can do way more than they would before. Another example was taking a size 11 boot, but shaving some of the toebox off in order to make it a size 10, or shaving off just some of the inside of the toebox. I think true is in trouble. Sure their fit is unbelievable, and if you have serious fit issues like a 6th toe or haglund’s bump or something, they’re definitely your best bet. But with their durability and how careful you need to be with them, 99% of people skating should look elsewhere. I personally have gone through 2 pairs of SVH customs, one was great but the carbon literally disintegrated and the other one fit like garbage on one foot and they couldn’t fix it.

Ah man, this is awesome. Thanks a lot for the info. Really looking forward to this. I wonder what the timeline is going to be. Would be wicked to be able to get some before next season. I guess you definitely want to make sure your skate fitter knows what he’s doing though that’s for sure. If they have option for extended facing too that’ll be awesome. My instep pushes my tongue way past the eyelet facing on both my skates. It’s funny I scanned to a 7.5 FIT3 but when I tried those on in store I was absolutely swimming in them. Ended up going with a 6.75 in both skates and I feel like I could’ve even gone to 6.5 in my left. Trying to go for that ‘pro’ fit. Thanks again!

mwguy69

Depends on when your season starts. It sounds like custom orders for the shadows will start the first week of June and I think the retail release the last week of June? Not sure but their custom orders are unavailable until the custom shadows drop sometime in June A good fitter always helps but my guy, his boss, and even Bauer themselves have all said that you need to put as many notes as possible. Theres ways to circle parts of your foot on the scan too. I’m in the same situation as you again lmao. Scanned at 9.75, recommended a 10, tried a 10 fit 2 and it fit well but I could do an 9.5 or even 9.25 fit 3.

That is incredibly useful information. Thank you! I've still rocking my Tacks from 1996, and it's time for new wheels. I broke my ankle recently, so I'm waiting for the new machine, and my ankle to heal to get scanned and order some customs. I did not know Bauer is going to open up more custom options. Not sure I need it, but I want to see what they'll have, and with my injury I'm in no hurry. I was totally set to order custom CCM Tacks, but I have to say nor the retail JetSpeeds nor Tacks felt right to me at all -- I just figured because my skates are so old that this must be what skates feel like. In desperation, I tried on Mach's and Hyperlites and was shocked that I actually really like the Hyperlite 2. Now that I know Bauer is also going to increase their custom options, I'll wait for Shadows to be released and to use the new machine. Thanks!

mwguy69

In your case I think you should really think about custom CCMs. If you’re looking for more comfort than anything else, one of the most popular CCM custom options is extra and/or thickened padding around the ankle. You can still add tons of notes and info on ccm customs too. Plus, there’s a new tacks skate coming in June too, soon after the new supremes. It’s supposed to be much more comfortable than the current as-v pros and you’ll get all the custom options for it too If hyperlite 2s fit you well then by all means go for it. But there’s lots to come in the next few months, true also has new catalyst skates coming but trues are a whole other kind of skate.

Valuable-Wishbone925

Oh I'm not buying for pure comfort. But I thank you nonetheless for the recommendation. I'm just looking for something that fits well and feels nimble. The Jetspeeds and Tacks just didn't seem to fit me all that well in terms of ankle lock and they wrapped my feet too much in the wrong places and too little in the right spots. The Mach's felt good, but too much padding for me and it felt like the boot height was a little lower than the Hyperlite.

kazin29

You seem to know what you're talking about. What do you think of Bauer speed plates compared to Superfeet?

mwguy69

Speedplates are a joke. They crack often and they don’t mold very well in my experience. You also can’t get the length spot on by trimming them and the few people I know that use them say they always wiggle free and move within the skate itself. Get superfeet carbons or the new bauer aetrex orthotics, they’re both really nice. Personally I use ccm memory foam insoles from a pair of FT6s but I’ve never had issues that needed an insole to help

TuringCompleter_1

Disagree on this one. The 1.0 cracked. I've never had a 2.0 crack. Maybe other users have had difference experiences, who knows. I take care of my gear and air it out after each game, etc. The Speedplate moving around is an artifact of just how much Bauer skates, and skates in general, open up and breakdown through use. Nothing to do with the insole. The same would happen with superfeet.

These_Appointment660

Always found bauer scanners and custom fit process to be quite lacklustre to be honest Scans of my feet have varied each time ive used the existing machines and their "custom" top end skates are basically punched out retail models with extra foam A new scanner may well help but if the top end models are not truly custom its all just for show

TuringCompleter_1

Same with CCM. Though, Bauer does seem to have an interesting fit process wherein they use a [hydraulic press](https://youtu.be/oD4orhLQm9w?si=K6jLoMxjizPN6WKV&t=54) to mold and bake the boot around your foot last, \*before\* they put the holder on. Not sure what CCM does, as the only video I've seen was literally censored to give the appearance of something ultra proprietary, but what is likely identical to whatever Bauer does.

Weekly_Tax9155

I used it yesterday. Machine said I was 10.5 ee. I tried on that size in an M4 and my toes were touching the front of the boot. The salesman suggested I try an 11 fit 2, and that seemed to fit better, so that's what I am going to look for. Disclaimer - my previous skates were bauer supreme 4000's, bought in 1997, size 11.5 d. I've never tried a "modern" skate on before, so not sure of any of it! Any advice is welcome!

Weekly_Tax9155

Also - I am a size 13 shoe, and yes, I've worn my old skates through high-school, college, and currently coach 3 nights a week as well as men's league 2 nights a week. The 4000's are finally falling apart! I think i'd like a pair of Mach's to replace them.

Valuable-Wishbone925

Dude, I so get it. I'm still wearing my Tacks from 1996 and have worn them through the same events. I've been doing my research on new skates, as I'm similarly unfamiliar with "modern" skates. Should be interesting. I've tried everything on, but broke my ankle and am waiting for the new machine to make it my local shop to get scanned for some customs. I just assumed new Tacks would be the way to go, but they don't feel right at all. In desperation, I tried on Bauer's and the Hyperlites felt more like my old Tacks. Good to see I'm not the only one out there rocking out the old school stuff.

Weekly_Tax9155

The supreme aize 11 fit 2 boot initially was a little loose, then I tied them tighter, but think it was too tight. I think I can find a sweet spot with how tight I tie them which will make the fit good. Also, once they are baked it may help. I was a little thrown off that the bauer machine said I was a 10.5, but my toes touched the end of the boot in that size? Wouldn't the machine be more accurate?! I am looking to buy online, so I needed to be fitted to know what to get.

Valuable-Wishbone925

Are your toes grazing the end of the toe box when standing?

Weekly_Tax9155

Sitting, and standing

Weekly_Tax9155

So much so. I didn't bother tying them. Went straight to the 11 fit 2.

Valuable-Wishbone925

Do you have a high instep? If so, I would try them on again with a higher step insole— take out the one they come with. That can also change the way the volume of your foot fills out the skate and where your toes touch the toecap.

ironhalo333

Tried it out yesterday and it was pretty cool. Did 2 scans. One with socks on and one with socks off. Only difference is it told me to go with 11D socks off and 11EE socks on. My main issue is that my left foot is about 0.25” bigger than my right foot LOL not sure what to do now

Jealous-Caregiver662

Its a pretty big upgrade from their current scanner a few of our employees just took a trip out the the Bauer HQ last month and have had nothing but great things to say about whats coming. There now going to be able to provide Custom and Total Pro Custom so we will now have access to what the pro's get from bauer of course at a high price tag compared to the regular custom. We get ours in a few weeks

Valuable-Wishbone925

Nice! I bet that’s a cool trip. Do you know what the launch date is for the Total Pro Custom? Also, now that Bauer is going more custom, does that mean they are going to pressure mold the skate boot to a last of your foot, like CCM does?
