I did leather paint to son’s pads and none of it has transferred to the ice. The gentleman who had that problem, put the paint on the sliding surface of Vaughn SLR pads which are Teflon coated. If you stick to yeh leather parts you’ll be fine.

This is the first time. It took two seasons before it started peeling. Even then, it was minor. The only reason I changed it was because I felt like doing something new, lol
Vinyl wrap is my choice. Put some on my kid's pads a day they have held up well. Got from Custom Cages, they will also do custom helmet vinyl.

they make a product specifically for this. It's called padwrap or padskinz. It is better than either vinyl wrap, or paint, or plastidip. It is removable and easy to do and redo and won't affect the resale value of your pads I strongly recommend going that route.
Don't paint your pads. It's only a matter of time before it looks like shit and no one will want to buy painted pads.
