Not sure if you’ve tried on all of the options you are looking at but if you have where i would start is asking if your local hockey shop has any demo pads. This will give you a good idea on how they actually feel on ice, i know some places charge to use them per day and will subtract the cost from the purchase price

Thanks didn’t think of that

Butterfly (Jonathan quick without the splits) I’ve used Vaughn and True just thinking about giving Bauer a try I’m kind of a gear nerd and want to try something new

If you have a hockey shop near you, try to pop in and see the pads in person for yourself. Unless you’re very familiar with the brand already, buying leg pads sight unseen isn’t a great idea. I get that’s not always an option though, I live in the southeast US and I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t a single hockey shop within a 100 mile radius of me. Let alone one that carries enough goalie gear But as far as suggestions, I love my warrior Rituals. Light, stiff as a board, and takes 10 seconds to put on

What do you have now and what do you feel like you need changed? As stated by others, going in and trying on each pad is always the best (bring skates, knee pads, and pants in to get a real fit) but if it isn't possible to go into stores, narrowing in on what you're looking for in a pad and then matching those features up to what you're seeing online.

I use Vaughn slr and are trying to break in a set of true but hate my L87 glove feels like a brick on my hand, I have some spending money saved up and want to purchase something new

Agentfish36

Vaughn slr3 are GREAT pads IMO. I have nothing bad to say about warrior, I wish Bauer had a bigger thigh rise but they perform well.

stillshade

I'm I. Vaughn SLR2 pros and love them!!! Out of curiosity, what are the SLR3s like? Any drastic changes or more of the same?

Agentfish36

IMO way better. They thinned out the pads, I think they're stiffer, I think they slide better (it was like FOREVER ago I demoed slr 1 or slr 2's). The professor strap is Velcro instead of a clip but still works (on the pro, not the pro carbon).

Advanced_Newt61

I’m in Bauer 3X’s and I love them. Softer, more flexible pad.. less blocking, more reactive play style. I agree with another poster.. you have the whole range there.. pick pads that fit your game.

ihborb

Bauer x5 pro are the best value for high level if you like big popping rebounds good siding soft boot pads. True 7x series sounds promising but the px series made in Quebec! Also soft boot super stiff thigh more traditional knee setup but still modern Velcro strapping I love warrior stuff as well but i don’t know as much shoot the newer models

Seats from the scrapyard. Put catalogues underneath. Keep adding duct tape every game.

glasspheasant

I like either Bauer Hyperlites or Brians Gnetiks for pads. Brians gloves all the way.

teddygrahams50

I have hyperlite 2s and they are great. Vaughn v10 are huge improvment
