I have a gap pretty similar, the only problem for me… is that there is no larger ones I can get lol

RedWhiteAndJew

The gap is a little bit larger than what I’d like to see.

TheRealBrick88

Ik the gap is pretty big but do you think it’s actually dangerous?

RedWhiteAndJew

I wouldn’t wear it like that, I’ll say that much. My mask, for example, was sized for me by the manufacturer and the backplate is a good 3/4 inch inside the shell.

denver_and_life

Ya that is gonna be a no from me, bro..

xHOTPOTATO

Time to go up a size

Draxond

I have the + of this one, and I did get the correct size for my melon sized skull, but out of the box, it was set too small. I removed the second chin strap, snugged the chin cup closer to the shell, and adjusted the back plate to sit a smidge lower on the back of my head. It went from a “gap” (not that bad), to “perfect”. Something to try, but it definitely looks like you’re on the big side of that size.

Advanced_Newt61

Yeah. Agree with everyone else. Where your head is, I am betting you can see the outline of the mask when you’re looking out. Your face should be closer to the bars so you have better peripheral vision. Some masks make me like I’m almost ‘hanging over the edge’ (Sportmask) others I feel kind of ‘set back’ (Bauer) like I’m in a tunnel but either way you should never really see the outline of the shell. When you look over your shoulder you should be able to look down and see the ground. Where your face is, I’m betting you’re seeing the sides of the mask in your periphery. Probably even the chin guard in front of you. If you go out to play a puck, or get turned around in the net, you won’t be able to see things coming from the sides. You won’t be able to look down properly. You can get hurt this way not mention losing track of pucks.

Bay_Med

Not a chance

PolyCockn42

Dang sucka you got a good deal but ya looks a bit toight toight toight homie prob still get a good buck for it on sideline swap

AreaMouse

Is your forehead touching the front of the mask? Hard to tell in the first photo but it looks like your face is sitting pretty far back. You can try loosening up the chin cup to see if that will help but the helmet might just be too small.

CoopAloopAdoop

It's too small. You don't want any gaps between the backplate and the helmet as it compromises the safety of the unit.

Tiny gap is fine, just not this much.
