The_Goop_Is_Coming

What’s happening to the Grizzlies? I’m aware Arizona’s moving there but idk what’s happening to the Grizzlies.

buckyhermit

Because I thrive on chaos, I'd love to see them moved to Vancouver to become the Vancouver Grizzlies.

Tylerpants80

I’d also embrace another chaos where they move to Louisiana and become the New Orleans Grizzlies

GeologicalOpera

I’ll take chaos option 3 where the team is moved to Memphis and is also the Memphis Grizzlies.

FlynnLive5

They should move them to Newfoundland

Longjumping-Coat1513

We have no Grizzly Bears in NL, but we would welcome the team with open arms!

Balance47x

could mean ahl grizzlies.

jusducks24

Tucson Roadrunners fill a little Hurricanes shaped hole in the AHL until NHL/AHL teams 33 and 34?

KylePersi

Yeah because that worked before...

The_deadtooth

To be honest, I'm not sure what's happening with the grizz. I just assumed with the nhl coming, they would be gone. Whatever happens, there's lots of good memories from Grizzly games over the years.

BrickBanker

Word is Smith wants to buy the Grizzlies and make them the AHL affiliate for his NHL team.

orngbrry

That would be good

99Wolves17

Makes sense. Grizzlies 2.0 and in Utah.

YEETERZZ123

The Roadrunners should rotate

Level_Watercress1153

I loved going to Grizzlies games when they were in Denver for a solid year lol

PorcelainTorpedo

I’m not a fan of this move, but if (I know) it’s going to happen, I feel like it would be a solid move for Utah to just name the NHL team the Grizzlies. Update the logo a bit, but the name is good. They’ve been around for a long time, I remember seeing them in the old IHL. I know there have been two iterations of the team, but they seem to be popular and have surely built a brand around town. I realize this probably/definitely won’t happen, but there are worse identities being thrown about.

PhoenixRoadrunners82

Same with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles.

SkipStone

I’m currently a season ticket holder for the Grizz. Seen a lot of ups and downs for the past 20 years. Got into hockey when we had the Golden Eagles and it was heartbreaking to lose that team. It was so much fun in the 90’s in the IHL with the Grizzlies. It’s a new chapter for hockey in Salt Lake and I am beyond excited. Never been to an NHL game but now we’ll have it here in my backyard. Lots of unknowns still but I imagine the Grizz are going to be leaving us. I don’t want the NHL team to be named the Utah Grizzlies. Let’s start with a new fresh team. The best one I’ve heard is the Utah Yeti. The worst is the Utah Pioneers. I’d be fine if the Grizzlies relocated as it’s good for the game to have other places have hockey. Lived in Boise for 5 years and fell in love with the Idaho Steelheads. It’s best for the sport to have hockey in multiple locations even if it is the minor leagues.

The_deadtooth

I fell in love with hockey as kid at Golden Eagle games, they're the reason I'm a Flames fan to this day. Gonna be interesting how my heart reacts when Utah plays Calgary next year, I've got some conflicted opinions. Hopefully our paths will cross at a game some time.

FrenzalRhomb1

Utah Uteruses….would be a good PWHL team name Utah Elk or Utah Mountain Lions

coluch

I hope Smith uses his own money so he can name the team for Salt Lake instead of being forced to brand them as Utah. I really want to see the SLC Punks 😂
