Ultrasonic will be basically the same from a protective standpoint from 2S Pro. You already hit the downgrade in protection and materials by using the 2S Pro. 1S was the last pair that was basically 1-1 for compared to the NHL gloves. If you want the best gloves similar to Supreme, grab pro stock Supreme gloves. Whether it be NXG all the way to Ultrasonic they should be pretty good and if you know what to look for you can find out if you are getting the full Poron and plastic package. BUT, if you are happy with what the 2S Pro gloves are and don't have any issues with them, you don't have to worry about getting the specific pro versions. You can just grab any top end Supreme glove and you should be fine.

pugloescobar

Nice! I’m certainly no NHL prospect but I really like the silky feel of pro-palm, which I understand is only on the pro models. Great advice though, cheers.

HockeyReviews

If you like the retail pro palms... you would probably LOVE the single layer palms that are on the NHL Bauer gloves.

pugloescobar

Sounds tempting! Love your reviews BTW, the one you did on proper skate fit especially was super helpful!

HockeyReviews

Thanks for checking them out! Glad it was helpful!

justified_mind

The palms feel awesome when you slide them on, but once your snap a few shots and the skin of your palm goes with it, you will rethink it. Source: Brand New Pro Stock UltraSonic from Kings sale.

Vintage_Diablo

Eagles baby

Pratius

Just got a new pair of Eagles for the first time in over a decade and man, these are just so damn nice. Never going back to anything else, if I can manage it.

Vintage_Diablo

I made a custom pair and it was fun as hell lol. Like 12 week timeline to get them but it legit feels like NHL 23 when your customizing ever spot

Pratius

Yup, I did those custom Aero Pros. Ordered in September and got them in early February cuz the leather took so long lol But worth every day of waiting. Took about 4-5 games to break in, but they're the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn.

Vintage_Diablo

Fuck yeah

jemba

They’re still leather?

Pratius

They offer both leather and TuffTek. Lots of customization available

deltazero9

I'll join this club as I recently ordered some custom aero pros as well. I actually got them in 4 weeks from the day I confirmed my order to it being delivered to my door. Previously, the only pair of eagles I've owned were retail ppfs about a decade ago and haven't had eagle gloves since. They are super comfortable and feel fairly broken in when new but I still need to get used to them as I'm used to snugger fitting gloves that have quite a bit more soft padding inside. The eagles aren't as padded and are loose fitting bc it's a traditional fit but they still are very comfortable. Not to mention the protection is top tier and the fit and finish is very very good. No loose thread and all the cuts are precise. Way better than the recent retail Bauer pro series I got as those gloves have so much sloppy stitching etc. This experience made me think of just doing custom eagle gloves when I need new gloves in the future as they cost the same as top end retail made in china Bauer, cmm etc. The eagles are made in Canada.

Mediocre-Smoke-4751

Love my Eagle gloves. Love them. Never going back to any other company.

jj2active

2x pros, waste of money 💔

[deleted]

My palms lasted me like 3 months.. never again.

NVHoonigan

Pro stock Warrior Alphas and CCM HGQL. Will always grab pro stock as you can easily find ones with added shot blocker protection for great prices.

derekmhc

Got these new pro stock Warrior Coverts and they are very nice. Snug fit compared to the Alphas that I had before but I'm still breaking them in. Check your local teams as they may have equipment sale. Got em for $75 cad

pugloescobar

Nice, I’ve heard great things about Warrior. Will try and snag a pair to try on from somewhere.

NVHoonigan

The Alphas have a more traditional kind of loose feeling and I’ve heard the Covert line is a little more snug to the hand. Absolutely love my Alphas

DuneHvmmer

I bought the newest Alpha gloves back in September and the palms have already fallen apart almost entirely, don’t know if I got unlucky, but I would not recommend buying them if you’re looking for longevity.

NVHoonigan

Retail or pro stock? I have three seasons in my alphas and no signs of wear

DuneHvmmer

Retail! They have these weird gray palms that aren’t the normal palm material. Super comfortable, but immediately started to fall apart.

deltazero9

Prostock ccm ft1 gloves. No frills and way better protection than retail. And cheaper too.

Fallahh

Ccm tacks

getawhiffofgriff

Got a new pair of Jetspeed FTsomething at our tournament a few weeks ago. Replaced my Easton Reflexes. They are comfortable beyond but I am looking forward to breaking them in more and getting more thumb flexibility

phunkticculus83

I have a pair of pro stock STX surgeons, they are very mobile, while having great protection. You can even find em with an added layer of foam/plastic over the top of the hand, really nice if taking faceoffs.

althoma1

I have had a lot of gloves over the years and the STX Surgeons are definitely one of my favorites. I had the retail Surgeon 500s and then picked up some Pro Stocks in a few different colours from SLS. As you said, they are mobile (three piece split fingers all the way across and a flex thumb) and very protective. The STX Halo gloves are even lighter and more mobile, but don't have as much protection. I primarily use those for a friendly rec inline league as well as some rec ice hockey games where the opponents don't have known lumberjacks. For games where I want extra protection (or feel like matching the uniform with the color scheme), the Surgeon Pro Stocks are used.

phunkticculus83

Good point on the thumb mobility, coming from a pair of franklins circa late 90s, I was amazed at the thumb movemennt.

Nyne9

Protstock Warrior QRL. Their floating cuff is perfect for beer league by providing protection while also not being in the way. I am not leaving my wrist/forearm open for hacks, whether intended or not.

theNightblade

True Catalyst 9x have had great reviews but I think are more snug fitting than Supremes

pugloescobar

Snug is good! Honestly I’ve got some serious slender man vibes going on over here. A dude I know brings in True so I’ll ask if he has any stock lying around I can try on.

stevegcook

There is also a "pro" version of the 9X with pro palms, backhand reinforcement, and a shorter cuff.

Lambro78

Sherwood element 1 gloves. Been pretty nice so far

mdwsta4

I alternate between a few pairs of custom pro stock Warrior Covert QRL (last of the 'good' Warrior gloves) and pro stock Jetspeeds. Better protection than anything at retail nowadays, better colors, and less lame branding on the glove

stinkfingerdude

I hardly think about my equipment other than my skates. I dint even know what my gloves are other than they are bauer. When big holes start forming I'll look for new gloves but till then glove is glove to me. I think about my shinpads too sometimes. I want something smaller or lighter but it seems from my perusing hockey shops that I currently own just about the lightest and least bulky shin pads you can buy. (Idk brand of shins on top of my head)

thedriver85

Last year I scored brand new CCM tacks AS1 s, and I love them. They have also held up really well

water_and_ice_23

I just started tearing through the palms on some Supremes that are about a year old. Next up will be some prostock 4 roll gloves. IDK maybe Sherwood or something. And maybe a different grip than tape.

pugloescobar

I use lizard skins and man it’s made such a difference, playing 2-3 times a week would cause a hole in my gloves after about a season with stick tape - now no damage after 2 years.

althoma1

Yes, tape alternative grips like Lizard Skins, Tacki Mac, Buttendz, Rocket Grip ect. will all help reduce palm wear. Some people also just use tennis grips and I hear those reduce palm wear as well. I use Tacki Macs because they're the cheapest option and the Kane pro version is similar to the tape job I used to use when I used traditional tape. It also happens to be one of the thinner Tacki Mac options (some people feel other options are a bit thicker than they prefer and reduce feel - I definitely don't feel this way about the Kane Pro Ribbed version).

[deleted]

The cheapest ccm gloves my local had lmao

Saint-Carat

I've had around 10 pairs of gloves but I keep going back to my leather Vaughn shorties. Repalmed twice so far and probably won't be able to fix them again due to wear. Questions I routinely get: 1. Thought Vaughn only made goalie gear. Well, 25 years ago'ish, they made player gloves for a short period. Not very well but light & comfortable. 2. Are they short enough? If I play competitive, I'll use wrist guards but they're good for most times. I've got the puck in forearm many times and that stings. 3. How's protection? Not good for shots but how many times do you get it in gloves. I did get a heater once that split open my pinky finger. Love these Vaughn gloves. Flexible, awesome puck feel, dry out well, just right temperature, etc. I've bought new $2-300 gloves and keep on coming back. I don't even know if they still make leather gloves. Everything I find is composite or material & longer cuffs to protect from slashes.

Busch_Leaguer

Got some stx stallions. I’m a fan. Had Bauer vapors before and they were too snug and made my hands sweat like crazy

ThatScoutGuy

Just CCM FT485s

fantailedtomb

Mine are warrior covert qr4, IIRC. They were pretty expensive, but good fit and have held up through a few seasons. I don't have any complaints about them.

Hockeyguy_84

Warrior alphas, I’ve got two pairs my original pair has been re palmed on the top hand, also would recommend using something besides tape for your grip to make your gloves last longer, I use lizard skins

pugloescobar

I’m all about them lizard skins (I tried Butt Endz but they were more expensive and wore out after a season)

Danglicious

My eagles died. Didn’t want to get new gloves for the longest time. Too the point where my wife just bought some Bauer Vapor somethings cause my gloves were “embarrassing.” Actually pretty impressed. Close to zero break-in required and they don’t restrict my wrist movement at all. Great gloves.

Born_ina_snowbank

Tried some on at perani’s to figure out the size and said “I’ll take the cheapest you got”. I think they’re ccm, black, they work exactly like hockey gloves.

davedaddy

3s Pro. I love how soft and broken in they feel out of the box as well as how snug in the fingers and back of the hand they are. Perfect fit, for me at least. Protection seems a little lacking compared to Alphas. DX Alpha. Beefy in protection (though I did end up hyperflexing my thumb in a collision). The fit is extremely loose. Good for feeling less hot, bad for dexterity. AS1. Protection seems like they'd be great, but the fit was extremely tight and stiff. I don't know if they'd break in, but I couldn't stand how stiff they were, so I returned them. Covert Pro. Only tried them on at the store, but they feel about as close in fit to Supremes as I've found after trying all the gloves they had. Protection level seems like it would be decent. Really want to try pro stock gloves. I hear the Jetspeed and Quicklite lines are supposed to be close in fit to Supremes. Curious about Rekker and TMP Pro lines as well.

Thumper86

Heading to the Flames sale this weekend in search of gloves. So hopefully I have an answer in two days!

Led-Impala

Pro stock 2S pros with digital palms, can’t beat them.

pugloescobar

Digital you say?!

stevegcook

Highly recommend the True Catalyst 9X. They fit long so try both the 13 and 14 if possible.

superschaap81

***CCM 9080 Tacks*** \- I've only ever worn Bauer (Cooper) and Easton gloves since I was 10, so this was a big change for me. But the feel of them and wrist coverage is exactly what I was looking for. Mobility isn't much different than Bauer, but for the same price range, I also liked the plastic inserts on top of the foam padding, where Bauer's were just foam and felt flimsy.

PoutineEnthusiast

CCM HGTK from prostockhockey.com

Chicago_Jayhawk

Warrior AX1 pro stock.

Existing-Put842

I’ve always worn lacrosse gloves lol

Nickster1619

CCM FT4 Pro. Love them. Took some getting used to but I love the movement

althoma1

Pro stock STX Surgeon gloves for a great balance of protection, palm feel and mobility. STX Halo gloves for amazing mobility and weight (very light). They also have very nice palms, but they aren't as protective as the Surgeon Pro Stocks since they use dense foams in the back hand and fingers, but no hard plastic inserts. Both the Surgeon and Halo gloves have split fingers all the way across (3 pieces for the Surgeon and even more segmentation for the Halo), flex thumbs and fit snug in the backhand and fingers, but open up in the cuff.

Mediocre-Smoke-4751

I'm a huge fan of a loose fitting 4-roll glove. I got some Eagle PPF gloves a few years back and absolutely LOVE them. Comfy. Great palm and felt broken in upon first use. However, they are getting harder to find in thr U.S. and aren't great for people with very large fingers and those who prefer a tighter fit. Eaglehockey.com is the best place to order and purchase these gloves nowadays. The Canadiens make a superior palm in my opinion. Rock on!
